Rep slithered up comfortably to lay on the mattress. It was a bit firmer than the other one, a little less ridiculous all told. He made a thoughtful face, like a wine taster trying to discern the vintage. He arched his back, flipping his weight off the bed and falling back before critically repeating the gesture a few times.

He lay still looking dazed.

"I forgot what it's like having a bed that doesn't ******** squeak."

Jordan laced his fingers over his chest and settled back comfortably. "I think it'll do. No squeaks, durable springs, nicely soft. I could even sleep on it."

Harrison didn't remember having a bed that didn't squeak. His bed in the motor home had been tacked onto the wall. There wasn't enough room to turn around in.

The police barracks were better.

And his room at Deus better than that. It'd been practically luxurious. A room he didn't have to share (unless he wanted to), a lockable door. His own closet. And when they'd moved on up to Jordan's room, a private bathroom.

Marcus's bachelor party had been the first thing he'd tasted approaching luxury. King-sized.

"Wonder what kind of beds they use in Vegas."

Rep made a face. This bed didn't have any major drawbacks. It was comfortable, had good springs. It should have been perfect, but for Rep nothing was ever perfect if it wasn't ridiculous, the other bed had been ridiculous. Opulence and overkill were the name of his game. When he closed his eyes his ideal bed was a king sized four poster with a mattress so soft it was like sinking into a cloud, a fort of floor sweeping, fur silk and satin duvets underlayed by soft cotton sheets. The kind of bed fit for a king.

He sighed shallowly and set aside his dreams.

"Vegas? Probably animal print vibrating rotating ones shaped like a heart." Vegas was home of tackiness, a place after his own heart.

"And yeah. I guess this will do." He said in his best grown up voice - it didn't sound quite as enthusiastic.

"Expensive ones, probably," Jordan laughed. "High quality and luxury. We got a pretty good budget, though." He raised an eyebrow at Rep. "Can I restrict the animal print to the covers rather than the sheets?"

He'd had decent quality beds most of this life, except for in the college dorms, and then the Deus dorms. A nice mattress and good linens sounded like plenty of luxury for him. A good mattress lasted years - it'd probably be good for someone else after they were gone. He kept that thought to himself. It was kind of depressing, and they'd just managed to coax Rep out of one sulk.

"Like the one we stayed on," Harrison said, trying to recall the consistency. His mind had been elsewhere. But it'd been big and welcome and come with a locked door.

B0nez remembered. He pulled it up like a file server, lxwxh, but the memories had more than mattresses in them.

He reached over to pat Rep's chest before sitting up. "It's our mattress. I'm not spending this much cash on something that'll work okay. We got more to try."

Rep smirked at Jordan. "You can restrict all the animal print if I get to put a fur throwover on it eventually." He didn't care if they didn't live in Siberia, fur just plain old looked good.

At the mention of the bed they'd stayed on, Rep looked thoughtful, he couldn't remember for the life of him the details of that room if he tried. The place had a nice pool but that was about the extent of his memory. "It's not a bad mattress." he protested, as far as he was concerned they could look at all the beds in the shop and none would be as amazing as overly-soft one.

"You have a deal," Jordan said, and sat up. "Criteria, then. Softer or firmer than this? More spring or less? This'll probably work better if we analyze it." He hadn't noticed a whole lot about the mattress in the hotel room; it had been very comfortable, but he'd had much more important things on his mind at the time.

"Soft. Soooft." he'd heard having an over soft bed was bad for your back, but as far as he was concerned, he did a lot of s**t involving an enormous axe that was probably a lot worse for his back, he was due a bit of comfort. "Like a ball pit full of ******** like sponges that is actually a bed."

He held up a hand "Spring but not wobble. I like bounce but I don't want to ******** fall off."

PostPosted: Mon Dec 24, 2012 9:56 am

"King-sized," Harrison put in, reiterating the basics, "and the titanium springs sounded like a good idea. I don't mind soft. If there's something going on, I want to feel it. I sleep better knowing where both of you are at. ...I just want to get one of these home already."

He looked over at Jordan.

"What about you, what are you looking for?"

"I want a little firmer than that other one, otherwise I won't get out of bed all day," Jordan said, a little sheepishly. "And nice as that may sound, it's impractical." He leaned over to brush a kiss over Rep's cheek. "Otherwise I"m not arguing with your points."

Rep crossed his arms and was about to go off on a huffy lecture about how softness was the essence of comfort and staying in bed all day was good for the soul when Jordan leaned over to kiss his cheek. He sighed instead, bloody effective placatory tactics. "The more we lie here, the more I'm okay with it."

"I'm going to go talk to the manager," Harrison said.

He should have said sales associate, but he didn't feel like dealing with underlings.

He hopped off the bed. "You guys see anything else you want in the meantime you let me know. I'll be right back."
PostPosted: Mon Dec 24, 2012 10:27 am

"Gotcha," Jordan said, and flopped back onto the bed to relax. He was totally okay with letting Harrison call the shots on this one.

"Awright." Rep conceded, crossing his arms behind his head and making no move at all to get up. He should maybe have been using his time wisely and looking at bed related accessories, but it was just so good to kick back on a bed he didn't have to worry about some stranger having done unspeakable things in. He didn't consider the beds in Deus much better than motel beds.

Tracey in his thoughts volunteered that the best kind of bed was made of metal, but Rep wasn't sure what he meant.
