Carltis' only response to Rochelle's comment was a soft snort and a shake of his head.

When they approached the crimson he came to a halt and gave a rather less grudging bow to Hyweth and her rider than Sunnath had received. Carltis didn't especially like bowing to anyone, but he was far more willing to swallow his pride for a creature that wasn't granted rank just for glittering like a night-moth's jewellery.

With that formality seen to he moved after Rochelle to a little red egg with bold grey markings. "You think so?" he murmured, having waited for Rochelle to go first. A small grin that was maybe a bit smirky appeared on his face. "If that's the case I'm not sure which outcome to hope for."

Still smirking he laid his hand on the spotted shell of the Look Before You Leap Egg. Here was another one that was assessing him and doing so rather cynically, as if it was rather convinced that when it hatched he - and probably everything else in the world - would turn out to be a disappointment. Carltis scowled, sending a feeling of 'same to you with knobs on'. He could see what Rochelle meant by her prediction though; this little thing had pride in spades. "I see what you mean," he murmured as he withdrew his hand from the shell, "got enough ego to fill two golds. How about that one next then?" Straightening up from touching the small egg he indicated the nearby Still Thinking Egg with its three bands of colour.

Having paid her respects to Hyweth, Darsha looked around the sands. The clutch was smaller, but there were also fewer candidates here than there had been at Suunath's clutch, which meant she wouldn't have to wait so long to have a moment or two with an egg. She turned in a slow circle, taking in all of the brightly colored shells before approaching the Do Not Disturb egg. She sensed it's irritation and got the message that it wanted nothing to do with anyone. The girl raised both her hands in the air in surprise. "Okay, okay..." Darsha muttered, sticking her hands in her pockets. "Have it your way."

She approached the cluster where most of the eggs were resting and paused in front of the Busy Body egg. This was more her style, Darsha decided, still stinging a bit from the abrupt rejection of the Do Not Disturb egg. In fact, she stayed slightly longer than necessary because she was engrossed in agreeing with the friendly presence that the Do Not Disturb egg's attitude certainly seemed to be unwelcoming. She left the pink egg somewhat reluctantly, and turned her attention to the Raring to Go egg.

"Oh! You're very eager, aren't you?" Darsha asked it with a grin, stroking the warm shell. "I think you'll like it out here. And you don't have very much longer to wait!" She felt a sensation of acknowledgement from the egg before the dragon within turned it's attentions back to escape.

With no further signs of aggression from the crimson mother Ailin slowly approached the clutch. The first egg he touched was unfortunately the Do Not Disturb egg. He recoiled sharply as the hatchling within objected forcefully to his touch. Ailin needed no further orders. He quickly departed from the eggs side and continued through the rest of the clutch.

He'd honestly hate to find out all crimson eggs were like that one, but with how varied the personalities generally were he couldn't believe the color of the mother would effect the disposition of her hatchlings.

The large pink egg in the middle was next. The hatchling within the Busy Body egg was enthusiastic to say the least. It was friendly, in an almost prying way. Yes, he couldn't stay... but he'd rather not go back to the Do Not Disturb egg if you don't mind.

Rochelle smirked back at him and wriggled her eyebrows up and down. She waved a small hand to get him towards the first egg, waited until he stood up and commented before finally snarking back at him. "Admit it. You want to get me all doodled up on some random bit of parchment somewhere. You Harpers."

She heaved a long suffering sigh, head tilting to look at the still thinking egg. "It's pretty." She said and leaned down to run her fingers over the shell. Chattering, half distracted - it felt kind of like she did on the busy days, where people were interesting but not enough to talk to someone directly. "It's a thinking little thing. Probably. Maybe? Check it out."

Carltis' turn and Rochelle edged away to let him. Once he'd let on, she wriggled fingers towards the Shivering Egg. "That one? It looks excited."

Thinking? Carltis stooped and ran a hand down the banded shell of the Still Thinking Egg. Yes, definitely thinking, though about what he wasn't entirely sure. It almost felt as though the egg was pulsing steadily, like a heartbeat.... Well whatever it was thinking about it was too busy to pay attention to him right now. Giving the egg a final brush with his fingertips Carltis stepped back, finding himself wondering if the thoughtful little thing might suit Aleck; though the smith wasn't standing as a candidate it was possible a dragon would search him out in the Stands.

Still, moving on.

Carltis nodded affably to Rochelle's next selection, brows raising a bit as he saw the egg shiver. "Rather," he murmured, stepping forward to lay his hand on the red-striped shell of the Shivering Egg.

Questions!

Impatience!

Carltis grinned and shook his head, glancing up at Rochelle. "Another impatient one...." Full of questions for him too. Where did he come from? Malvren, a place by the sea with marble halls... marble was a kind of rock, and the sea was a huge body of salty water.

He was bombarded with a myriad of other questions which he answered to the best of his ability, but eventually he had to give his apologies to the curious thing and step back. Straightening up Carltis regarded Rochelle with raised brows and shook his hand; the vibrating egg had made it all tingly. "How do you fancy the lavender one, once you're done there?" he asked quietly.

Hyweth clutch seemed more lively then Suuneth. It was likely the brighter colors, the warmth of the reds and oranges of most of her eggs. Wen wonder faintly if eggs had ever hatched early, days before their clutch mates. Some of the eggs seemed to want to hatch now, such as the gorgeous red egg of Hyweth's with the stripes.

He looked around the clutch and nodded to the others that had been trickling in before moving towards the Do Not Disturb Egg on the edge of the clutch. It was a smallish egg, and one of the paler of Hyweth's clutch. Wen reached out to touch the shell and received a rather tart mental slap. He blinked and reached out and let his hand linger for a moment. Yes, that was one angry or at least irritable dragon hatchling. He pulled his hand away slowly, and decided to move on to a more calmer looking egg.

The fading tristripe shell of the Still Thinking Egg was warm under his hand, throbbing to touch. Wen relaxed, somewhat amused at the friendly if distracted presence in his mind. He lingered, not minding that he was being ignored for whatever current thoughts the dragon was pondering. He gave the egg a fond touch before moving to a smaller egg.

The Misdirect thought was another pastel color egg, bi color with equal amounts of black and white in the shell. Wen touched it before pulling back, frowning slightly and discreetly rubbing his fingers on his trousers. It felt oily and he did not linger on it, moving to the last of the paler eggs.

Lavender and teal were soothing colors on the shell of the Damaged eardrum egg but the dragonet was anything but calm. Wen's lip twitched as he laid a hand on the shell, the presence swamping him. He lingered for a moment before withdrawing. What a loud egg. It reminded him a bit of new recruits that boasted loudly. Loud, but spirited was not such a bad thing. As long as they learned to mute their boisterous voices at night.

"You never know, maybe shivery means it's going to recite poetry, Harper boy." Rochelle grinned at him an took her own place with her hand on the shell. QUESTIONS.

ALL THE QUESTIONS.

She liked questions and answers, enjoyed playing those games. She did her best to answer things like what clouds were, how did those other candidates touching the egg look, what was that other voice answering questions, were they nice? Hi hi hi hi.

She pulled her hand away with a soft laugh, rubbing at her hand. Ha! Vibrating egg made for slightly nerveless fingertips. "Ahaha, yeah, but it's awesome, don't you think? Impatient and excited means it's not going to try to chew on our faces." The idea of being mauled didn't wipe the smile from her face; dragons were awesome and they already had scars.

"The lavender?"She looked up at Carltis, eyebrows up and then... the lavender Damaged Eardrums was suggested. Rochelle brightened and nodded, scooting over to the medium sized egg. "Also pretty, maybe a blue? I mean, s'not good to go on shell color." Rochelle shrugged and took the few steps from Carltis to the egg.

One hand on the egg and then FWOOSH. the little dragon had a stage presence, overwhelming and loud and most certainly a bit invasive. (A little bit like a certain glasscrafter, it must be said.) Rochelle laughed, squeezing her eyes shut. The little thing didn't feel angry or especially snarky, just curious, and it took a few minutes before she pulled her hand back. "It likes to, uh, look. You've been warned, Carltis."

The sands around Hyweth's clutch were starting to get a little more crowded, and Darsha decided that she ought to get her butt in gear before the crowds got too bad and she wouldn't have a chance to spend any quality time with the eggs she had yet to touch. Nearest to her was the Shivering egg. Its impatience was palpable and reminded Darsha of the Raring to Go egg. She smiled a little dazedly as she answered all of it's impatient questions about herself, then managed to break away and make her way over to the Still Thinking egg. She found it's consistent thoughtful throbbing soothing and relaxing, but the egg seemed to be off in the land of distant thought, so Darsha slipped away quickly.

The next egg that she came to was the Damaged Eardrums egg, and she reeled at the sudden barrage into her psyche. Blinking, she allowed it to rummage around in her mind as much as it wanted, glad that some of the other eggs had prepared her for this kind of invasion though none of the others had been this... loud. When she finally managed to pull away, she felt physically impacted and it was difficult to walk. Darsha found herself giggling a little as she wobbled across the sands to the Misdirect egg. Darsha found herself blushing and giggling at the surface flattery that complimented her loveliness - not a lot of people told the work-hardened girl that she was pretty or, well, Darsha was just not accustomed to compliments in general. Between the flattery and the faint dizziness that remained from her encounter with the Damaged Eardrums egg, she didn't even suspect that the inhabitant of the egg might have an ulterior motive.

That was the last of Hyweth's eggs, she suddenly realized. She had completed her first touching. Had she met Hers somewhere along the way? Was her lifemate inside one of those brightly colored eggs? It was impossible to tell, and if she sat around guessing and every little nuance she would never get anywhere. Although, Darsha knew that if she were to be totally honest with herself she would be spending every moment until the hatching thinking and obsessing about the touching. There was simply no escaping it.

Carltis raised an eyebrow and looked down at the egg; another one that likes to poke around was it? Well, at least he was warned. Carltis placed a hand on the Damaged Eardrums Egg and quickly discovered that Rochelle had been understating by a fair margin; the little dragon's mental presence all but knocked him over! "Well." Carltis blinked, shook his head and stood up. "It's... nice that it's curious? That was intense!" Wiggling a finger in his ear although there had been no physical sound he gestured around at the clutch with his free hand. "Next?"

The remaining eggs were deep red to softer pink and a eye searing orange, bright warm color eggs. Wen decided on the diminutive but handsome Look Before You Leap Egg. It was blood red with swirling gray and he couldn't hold back a snort at the prideful cynical little creature inside. He left the egg behind in for the banded pink of the Busy Body Egg.

The Busy Body egg
was bubbly, a rather sincere cheerfulness, to the point of a shop keep displaying wares. Wen found the egg a bit overly nice. He gave one last touch and a quiet farewell before moving to the plain but eye-searing sunrise bright tones of the Raring to Go Egg.

This dragon wanted out now, it wasn't showing it yet like it sibling The Shivering Egg, but mentally it was ready to go and greet the world. Wen stroked the shell for a while, agreeing that it had to be rather boring being an egg. He left it behind a little regretfully, enjoying the determination of will.

The last he came to was The Shivering Egg. Wen laid a hand out, letting the egg bump into his hand in its movements. It was impatient, and inquisitive. Not to the same level as the Busy Body egg but it wanted a picture of the world, now, thank you. Wen hummed, touching the egg quietly and sent back his own question admits the badgering of questions. 'Wouldn't you rather experience it yourself?' He chuckled and pet it once before standing.

He nodded to Hyweth and left the sands behind.

"Hmmm..." Rochelle looked at the small clutch and down she went again. "This one. It is tiny and cute. Also, it'll burn out your eyes." The glasscrafter grinned and touched the Raring To Go egg. It felt as if it were trying to mentally wedge itself from it's shell, earning a snort-snicker from the glass smith. The dragonet sent a 'what? You talkin' to me?' vibe after a long moment of lazy waiting.

Another snort and she stood, tucking some hair back from her face. "Another impatient one. Lazy?" She offered, shrugging. She waited until Carltis stepped back before grinning. "Your turn."

Carltis nodded agreement, and then raised his eyebrows to her reaction; another? He crouched to touch the little Raring To Go Egg and was indeed met once again by impatience to get out there. After a little while it seemed to still in its efforts and pay attention to him, but he couldn't have said one way or the other what it thought.

"A keen lot; I suppose that's a good sign. Just so long as we don't get trampled in the stampede," he murmured. There was a bright pink egg nearby, and with a shrug Carltis moved onto that one.

Touching the Busy Body Egg was... sort of a pleasant experience? It was nice to be welcomed like that but it was a little overwhelming. Apparently it had opinions on one of its clutchmates - he got the feeling of distance, separation - but overall it seemed a happy sort. With a nod and a last light brush of his fingers Carltis stepped back. "Seems alright to me," he said softly with another shrug.

The Raring to Go egg amused Ailin. While he supposed it was possible, it was still too early for the eggs to be ready to Hatch. That's why they were allowed here after all wasn't it? The little one's impatience was put aside for a few moments to take notice of Ailin before they went right back to what they were doing. He stood to move on, hoping they wouldn't tire themselves out before the big day was there.

The dark red egg beside it seemed to have the same idea. Ailin almost had a hard time keeping his hand still on the Shivering egg. Where Raring was using it's mental force to try and crack it's shell, Shivering seemed like they might actually do it! Ailin suspected the hatchling might have a knack for multitasking with the way it was able to focus on it's efforts and still ask it's numerous questions. He tried to answer to the best of his abilities, using his harper vocabulary to describe the world to one who'd yet to see it.

Hekate and Devith

It had taken more urging then usual for Hekate to keep Devith quiet. After all she doubted the mothers wished to be disturbed by one excited overgrown weyrling dragon. However that didn't stop Devith from craning his neck this way and that peering around the edge of the entrance to the hatching sands to check on his friend.

Calanoth! The eggs are here! Oh they're quite colorful! Mine said they'd be rather pretty, but I don't think her description did them justice! Devith rumbled to his friend in delight even as Hekate pushed against her large dragons chest urging him back.

"Shhh! Keep your voice down Devith! You don't want to disturb the mothers do you! You can admire the eggs perfectly fine from here!" Hekate hissed up at her dragon in a low whisper as Devith glanced down giving her an apologetic rumble.

My apologies Mine. It's just all quite exciting. He crooned down at her his eyes whirling merrily as Hekate shook her head and sighed leaning against him and lifting a hand to smile and wave at Z'fer.

Niyx
to Ailin

Spotting Ailin over at the crimson's clutch Niyx moved to join him grinning broadly at her friend whom seemed currently distracted by the shivering egg. Perhaps his dragon was among this clutch. Stepping up beside him she glanced from boy to egg marking the look of concentration on his face.

"What's this one? Find any sweethearts?" Niyx joked warmly with her rather shy friend giving him a broad grin as she glanced around at the crimson's clutch. She wasn't sure how big their clutches were supposed to be, but this one seemed to be rather large or was the gold clutch simply rather small?

Reaching out Niyx ran her fingers over the Misdirection egg frowning at it's compliments even as she felt it riffling through her mind. Well at least it certainly was a clever one busy trying to distract her even as it combed for whatever it was looking for.
