Rin felt the final anguished lashing of the beast deflect against her shield before... nothing. It was just them now and suddenly it was like she could breathe again. A deep sustaining breath and then. "YES! We did it!" She put Byr down and offered Melvin a high five and a bright glowing smile.

Corny lines aside, he was glad for the last swing from Rep's axe that took out the fog and left it dispersing around them, growing thin as it receded. Was the problem fixed? He hoped so, but one could never be sure. All that mattered now was that it was gone now and they could return back knowing they were still alive and had succeeded. They could all fill their mission reports without biting their nails.
As Rin brimmed with joy, raising her hand up, Melvin looked up a moment before he slow, and with a great deal less vigor, rose it and tapped it against her hand. "Yeah. We're not dead." His tone probably didn't help the cheerful mood Rin was in.
"We should head back."

Rep lowered Tracey as the last remnants of the creature dissapated to wherever it was that the monsters went when they were through with them. There might have been others here, still skulking around, waiting for oblivious tourists, come to photograph this derelict and creepy place, but their current mission was at an end. One at a time.
Rin's failed high five got a twisted smirk from Rep, forever socially awkward, even he knew better than to try and elicit a high five from mister stoic. The air was clearer as he stepped back to join them, the fog no longer oppressive but somehow clear and refreshing, it was nicer than the fog on the island.
"Aye. Let's get back to base." It was only a pity they couldn't stop by civilisation while they were here.

It might have been a pity high five but it was enough to appease Rin. She giddily swerved around to offer her hand at Rep, "I'm so tired from covering your a**. Think I can lean on you a bit for the way back?"
Nothing at all to do with the fact this place was still a creepy nightmare and she was so ready for a hot cup of coffee and unwinding and not discovering more dead bodies on the way out while alone.

Melvin was all for that, grabbing his own pendant and looking at the both. It was times like this he worried someone would have a faulty pendant, but he knew better. With a shimmer, Melvin teleported out and arrived back on the landing pad in the lighthouse, a few techs looking up to make sure everything was fine and they wouldn't have to usher in any Life techs to get them to the Infirmary.
Melvin stepped aside, waiting for the others.

Rep was in a good mood, he always was after a mission completed without too much complexity. At Rin's request he snaked an arm out about her waist, letting her throw her good arm across his shoulders if she wanted to while he supported her weight, de summoning Tracey he pulled out his pendant and said the magic words to take them back home.

Rin desummoned Byr and did exactly that. Sliding her arm across the large man's shoulders with a comforted smile. Rep was one of the few remaining hunters willing to humor the woman's silly little fleeting requests.
All three of them made an awesome team. In her opinion, anyway. When they were back at the safety of the island she was still feeling pretty proud of them. Smiling up at Rep, "You are awesome man. You totally exploded that thing," and then over at Melvin, "and damn man. Your aim got so much better from our first duel together. Like. Seriously. You and me, we made an impenetrable shield force together too."

He could only offer a weak smile to Rin's praise, not feeling he deserved it much. "I could only improve really." Seeing as he was starting from no knowledge whatsoever about how guns or weapons in general worked. "Though you two pretty much ran the show. Thanks for letting me tag along." Consider it was now clear why the tech before told him he couldn't go to missions without a great deal of help. He would have been eaten alive, literally.
"Seems your fine with your axe." He told Rin, considering she worked well with just one arm. "Nice to see your charge destroying things I actually hate." He told Rep, poking lightly at the fact he had been rather against using his charge after the Rin incident.
Okay, this was getting a bit sickenly sweet with all the shared praise.

"I had the easy job." he said, "It's only thanks to defence and healing that I can get the space to attack s**t. I'm dependent on the people I'm with to be like, able to. You guys did a great job. Both of you." He gave Melvin a glare as he tried to shove the credit onto Rin and him.
"As for the charge aye, I needed to learn my limits. But as far as monsters are concerned, there are no limits to what I'd do to get rid of them forever." He took missions seriously and always had.
He waved a hand and added gruffly. "Ta for inviting me along."
Finally there was the question of the woman draped on him. "Do I need to walk you back to wherever you are staying you lazy b*****d?"

Rin smirked, "Honestly. I quite enjoyed watching your charge from the safety of being behind it."
She burrowed her face into Rep's shoulder teasingly as he turned his attentions finally to her. "Mmmm... yess but can we stop for coffee or something on the way?" She was exhausted but still humming along purely on adrenaline. Her attention turning back on Melvin. Curious if he was going to split or join them.

The Lifer seemed uncomfortable, fixing his gloves a moment the same way he had fiddled when he was in Rin's room when she was at the Infirmary. The mixture of being hard on himself for what he still considered a poor battle performance, the high tension of the mission, along with Rep's heal had left him rather shaken up, and he was looking forward to collecting himself.
"You're still staying as Sasha's, right? Have a good rest." He only said it to make Rep aware that Rin was over there, not knowing how Rep would take it. Melvin was already taking a step back, inching to the door.

Rep set his mouth into a thin line. Sasha's. Well he knew where he wouldn't ******** be taking Rin.
"Well why isn't Sasha here then?" he said, no longer holding Rin quite as close as he had been.
"Nevermind, I'm sure we can discuss it over coffee. Later Goldilocks."

Rin shot Melvin a very very dirty look for his 'helpfulness'.
"Bye Melvin," there was an irritable tone before she hauled her attention back to Rep, "I wanted to stay with you but... your guys. There wouldn't be room and I'd just make things awkward." She struggled to save face.

Melvin just gave a tilt of his head in apology. Rep would find out when he took her there after all, and he might hate them both if he found out they didn't say anything. Melvin was going to throw that out and bolt before things got too messy. He also felt he got Rin a bit back for being sworn at during Thanksgiving.
"Later, Tiger. Later, Rin." He said to them both, and slipped out of the room to leave them to their discussion.
