Hero gave the doe a nod in greeting, but as she didn't give up her own name, he just remained cordial. It took all his effort to not drop his head to catch her eyes. It seemed she was worried to look him in the face, but more so shy than ashamed. He gave her a toothy grin, he was picking up way too much from Adventure, but it soon became obvious that teasing this timid doe would only make her more nervous and perhaps run away in pure terror. "Hey, hey," he took a tentative step forward, "I won't bite, we won't let anything happen to -" "Adventure!" Hero growled low in his throat at the caiman that snuck up behind the stark doe and opened its mouth as wide as possible. Of course, the biggest concern from a caiman bite was infection and irritation. "...don't" Usually, the caiman was more than playful and defiant. However, the look Hero gave it seemed to change its mind. The dark maw came shut with a slight snap as it eyed both the doe and the zikwa. The zikwa was an easier mark anyways with that thin, wrinkled skin and boney legs....

Change. Change was a terrible thing! Huddled on the ground, the white doe slowly looked up when she heard the sound of jaws snapping closed. She had been so worried that Hero would bite her she hadn't even noticed the caiman there, ready and more than willing to take a bite out of her. It hadn't though, if only because Hero had told it not to.
Blue eyes felt relieved as they looked up at Hero once again, trying to stand up off the ground. She fell so much, that she didn't even worry about it anymore. If only she hadn't felt so incomplete, so nervous. So much was seeming to change and she could still barely find her way around the swamp without getting lost.
"T-thank you," she murmured. "Thank you for not letting it bite me."
Her blush had deepened, Hero had been her hero. It was then that she realized the terrible mistake she had committed! She hadn't told him her name! She stepped back again, not out of any sort of fear but out of a feeling of shame. How could she be so rude? She bowed her neck down when her legs stepped back.
"I-I'm sorry, my name is Forgotten Feathers. I-It's a... pleasure... to meet you..."

Roar snorts. "Well. Let's go find out, and then we can form opinions." He shoots her a look that suggests she is being rather uptight and then makes his way out into the clearing. Sunlight falls through the trees and dapples his golden hair. After a moment, sending that she remained behind him, he turned around to give her a flat look. "Are you coming? You ought to show off your flowers." It occurs to Roar, the more he looks around at the wrinkled things emerging from beneath the mound, that they cannot see -- or, if they can at all, they can't see well. He peers at one of the eyeless ones' faces for a moment before stopping, pausing as if he has no idea what to say -- and he doesn't. It is an odd feeling, and one he mislikes. When Beauty approaches, he blinks at her. "I don't think they can see."

Beauty rolls her eyes and follows Roar into the clearing, flicking her ear uncomfortably in awareness of the flowers there. "I am not going to be showing off anything," she snaps at him. "This is not about me -- or you, I might add, although I know you think everything is about you. It's about them--" She is cut off by Roar's realization and looks around at the assembled zikwa in shock. "By the motherfather, you're right. They must not need to, living down in the dark underground..." Beauty trails off. Sight might not be necessary under the earth where these creatures come from, but the world aboveground is so big, and dangerous. The poor things will be completely helpless up here. Her chest fills with emotion and a feeling of protectiveness.

The others she had been talking with had give off to see others. Fine with her, she would find them later perhaps. There were so many here to talk too. It was amazing really. A bucks words caught her ear. Creeping Moss walked around until she found those who had been talking. From what she could make out there were too. A kimeti buck by his outline though different, not like the legendaries. The other she did not see before, or had yet to meet this night. She smiled done. "Oh, u assure you some of us can see, not like you can. We have our ways."

Hero felt embarrassed, yet tried not to show it. Adventure was the reason for the this doe's near misfortune - and Adventure went where he went. So, if he wasn't here, then Forgotten Feathers would not have been in danger in the first place. "It was nothing... really. Adventure is apt to mischief, usually it is best to just ignore it...." The caiman pretended not to listen, sulking in the shadows, perhaps to see if it could have a taste of one of those zikwa.... "...though it seems to get in the most trouble when does are around. Except my sisters, it didn't have any problems with them." Now that he thought about it, the caiman really did get along fine when his sisters were around - but more problematic all other females. He would have to think on that later. "Well, Forgotten Feathers, it is nice to meet such a lovely doe. Did you end up following someone here or just stumbled upon this gathering?"

"It's okay..." he tried to convince him but she knew she wasn't doing a very good job.
Her eyes followed the caiman in the distance as it seemed to look at the zikwa as more of a snack than a fellow kin in the swamp. Forgotten Feathers didn't understand them, but their pretense didn't make her anymore nervous than a normal kin so it didn't press any buttons or cause her any grief. It made her curious though, had they always been under the swamp? If that was so then they weren't coming back to the swamp so much as making themselves known!

And he's watching us all through the eye of a tiger!
Okay, so maybe it wasn't quite like that.
Hero's compliment drew her attention to him and then very quickly her gaze went back to the ground with a blush as he complimented her.
"I-I... I just noticed a lot of kin coming this way. I was sort of lost so I followed them here..."

Appeal sorry such a short one xD She seemed to get a little more comfortable, at least she wasn't eyeing exit strategies. Hero couldn't help but smile sadly, "Get lost often?" For some reason, Forgotten Feathers reminded him a little of his mother. Just a little. Or maybe she had forgotten more than just some feathers?

The question Hero asked the doe had struck home, causing her to withdraw just a bit again. She was never able to tell where she was, ever. She wandered the swamp without a place there to call home simply because she had forgotten how to return there. She knew it wasn't normal to be unable to find her bounds but not wanting to be singled out by the question she returned with a simple one.
"You don't?" She said, blue eyes meeting his hesitantly.
Not too far from Hero and Forgotten Feathers was something a little more stranger than her. It was Stargarden and he couldn't resist himself anymore. It was calling him! This might mound in the ground that his moon hid from him in! The legendary crane leaned over the mound and peered down, trying to stick his head inside.

"No, I don't really get lost... but then again, I don't often have a destination in mind..." Hero tilted his head, as if trying to get a better view of the doe. She really did get lost a lot? With a start, he stood up straight and smiled like a young colt. "Oh, I know!" Hero lunged close in his excitement, forgetting that he should tread softly with the doe. "Perhaps you can have a charm, or a talisman made to help you not get lost so much! See this?" The buck puffed out his chest and looked down - showing the charm necklace he had. "A doe, her name was Lucky Charm, made it for me - but it is for protection and success for my Quest. Originally, it was destroyed, but we gathered the pieces and the Legendary Never Idle remade it. Perhaps he came make you a charm against getting lost, or Lucky Charm, or maybe there is someone else here that can?" The buck looked around frantically, not allowing the fact that he did not see either of the two mentioned to damper his mood. It was then he saw a crane stuffing his head in a hole in the mound. He paused a moment in his search, "What an odd crane...."

Forgotten Feathers nearly fell back from Hero's sudden movements, shrieking lightly as the surprise hit her. Oh, oh, she was so embarrassed. She wanted to join the crane and stick her head in the hole as well. It would be much better if no one could see that she was now a cardinal instead of a robin who was originally a goose.
"A-A charm?" She pondered. "A charm... yours is pretty..." She admitted, taking a good look at him as he puffed his chest out for her to see.
She had the feather that Swan had given her when they first met, perhaps she could have that turned into a charm that would lead her back to his pond?
"Do you, do you think that would work? I-I'd never be able to find Never Idle though..." Maybe she should make that her quest.

Hero shrugged, "I think Never Idle more so finds you, as long as you are in the correct general direction... I tried finding him but he got to me first. I couldn't find Lucky Charm, which is why I ended up going to him. He does ask for...something in return. He just sent me on another Quest for him to retrieve some items." The buck though long and hard..."Yeah, I think it does work!" He grinned happily again. "I have been successful so far, and well protected when I surely should have been harmed... Adventure and I saved my sister from a river full of alligators once! Sure, I had some scratches but I am still here!!!" "I am sure it could help," Hero pondered for a moment. Maybe they should have greeted the zikwa with charms for protection... or at least thicker skin. Truly, he was worried about the roughness of the swamp. But what was their life like down below? Maybe it was just like it was up top here, just darker?

So many fireflies. So many kin. All gathered to see them. It at once gave her an immense feeling of self-importance, and an immense feeling of responsibility. They were the first after-all. The representatives of their race. She had been anticipating this moment since the beginning of their journey-- she couldn't let herself get caught up in wonder. The flurry of wings brought her back to attention, My Heart had returned, flitting around them before settling onto Buried's back. She gave the passing bat an affectionate brush of the nose, nodding at Buried's suggestion, ears perking, turning her eyes, but mainly her senses, towards the fireflies. At that moment, one called out which drew a swiveled ear, and Buried answered for them and the buck seemed more interested in My Heart. Another kin, watching them-- the Zikwa seemed to share the unerring sense of knowing when one was watching-- Buried invited closer, and it was to her she turned her own greeting. The kimeti doe's smile went unnoticed, but the feeling of warmth did not. "Do come," she called, but more softly, taking a step from Buried's side in welcome.

Fish Bones catches sight of a mare with fins, and turns to go meet her. Coming closer he sees she's with two other of the MotherFather's chosen, and gives a nod to them all. "Hello. Unusual additions to the family, these Zikwa." he states, taking in their glowing marks and faces. Some seem to have no eyes at all, and Fish Bones wonders if the ones who do have eyes have sight, however limited. Perhaps the ones without eyes can still see something through their lids. he thinks, making a note to seek out such a Zikwa and ask.--- ((I'll leave it up to you two if FB's thought is kept private or.. uhh.. projected? for others to hear))

Hear Me Roar glances to the kiokote -- a silent look of are you going to back me up here? and then takes a step forward to look down his nose at the other creature. He is an athletic buck, moves with an economy of movement that would be wonderful to behold .. if the other kin could see. "And what ways are those?"
