Mellina Mizu Mellina expected some kind of reaction but was not quite prepared. Shrieking when she was slapped, the force of Reynolds' slap making her head ring as she crashed to the ground. Gasping, tensing, every nerve of her body freaking out like she was when Reynolds was shouting, having her pinned. Her heart pounding wanting to shout at him but watched him getting yanked back. Letting out a relieved breath seeing Stefan, not realizing she was kind of holding her breath before, let alone the fact she was shaking a little. That whole thing just had her so of kilter, surprised and all.
Sitting up, looking at Stefan as he knelt in front of her, a slight flinch when he touched her cheek, it was still stinging. But his touch was cool and soothing kind of. Nodding, "I am now...Stefan." Mostly since she was so relieved he was there. As he helped her stand, hearing how Stefan's tone got, listening to him, opening her mouth almost to object but then with the rest of his statement. "A-alright...Be careful, please," saying low just to him. Looking from him to Reynolds before she basically bolted by him to get inside.

Stefan was relieved to know that Mellina alright.. But he still refused to risk seeing her get hurt again. He half expected her to argue rather than leave, but maybe even she saw how dangerous this could get for her.
Stefan nodded to her at her request: to be careful. As she ran toward the house, his hands balled into fists. The soldier needed her out of sight, for two reasons: For her own safety, and so she wouldn't have to see what would happen. He would try to stay under control (not to say he wasn't going to beat the crap out of Reynolds), but he couldn't quite promise that. Especially if the Sergeant tempted him. Turning to face Reynolds again, Stefan's eyes grew wide. The Sergeant was on his feet, aiming his gun. Not at him. At Mellina.
Stefan didn't think. Before the Sergeant could pull that trigger, the soldier tackled him--literally--to the ground. The gunshot went off as they both fell to the ground. As soon as Reynolds dropped, the gun fell from his hands, laying only a couple of feet away. Stefan froze for a moment at the sound of the shot. First, he looked to make sure Mellina hadn't been hit. She was alright.. Good.. Now, he checked his own body. He didn't feel anything, and it looked like he was still blood-free. It seemed that shot had missed everyone, and went straight into the woods somewhere.
Stefan glared down at Reynolds. Now he was over the Sergeant who lay on the ground. He grabbed at the man's collar. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" he shouted, punching him once right in the jaw. "First, you swear that you will lay off of her!" He hit him again. "Then, you HIT her! How dare you hit her! And then I see this!" He hit him one more time, then dropped his collar in a way that caused Reynolds` head to hit the ground, roughly. The soldier rose, taking a few steps away from Reynolds. "Leave. Now. You go to the King and tell him exactly what happened. If I find out you lied, I know where to find you. We both may have been trained in killing our enemies, but I'm stronger than you." His voice was low. Threatening. He would not stand for this anymore. "Don't forget to tell the King that Merlin has found a place to be happy, and a person to be happy with.... Now, go. I don't want to see your face around here again."
Stefan turned to head toward the house. His knuckles were just slightly sore, but at least he managed not to go too crazy on Reynolds. He just hoped now the coward would leave and never return. That was too much to hope for, it seemed. "You know, we kissed." Stefan stopped where he was, but he refused to turn to face the b*****d. 'Don't pay attention to him... He's just trying to get you angry... Mellina would never--' "Actually," Reynolds grunted a bit as he hoisted himself to his feet once more. He was wobbling at first from those few punches he'd received. "Let me rephrase that. I kissed her." He laughed lowly. "She didn't like that much." He brought a hand up to rub his cheek. "The little b**ch hit me, so I hit her ba--" Once again, Reynolds was interrupted by a punch to the face. This time, Stefan didn't let him drop to the ground. He held onto the collar of his shirt to hold him up. "You really have the nerve to call her that?!" He hit Reynolds in the stomach, knocking the air out of him. Then he grabbed the Sergeant's throat. He didn't cut off his airways completely, of course, but the smaller man's breath was taken enough so that he couldn't easily hit back.
"You insane b*****d! First you go this far just to steal Mellina from me, and then when she rejects you, you want to kill her?!" Reynolds tried to chuckle. "You think I'm that conceited? I wouldn't kill a woman just because she rejects me." "You pointed a gun at her, and you're telling me you weren't trying to kill her??" Reynolds smirked. "I didn't say that, Walters." Stefan had to force himself not to hit him again. This guy wasn't making any sense..! "Then why did you--" "Because," he interrupted, "She'd be a witness.." Stefan stared at him, waiting for an explanation. When none came, he asked, suspiciously, "....Witness for what?" "For this."
Something pressed against Stefan's stomach, and before the soldier could react, or even so much as look down to see what it was, a gunshot went off. The sound rang through Stefan's ears, filling the forest, certainly loud enough to wake the others in the house. Unfortunately, it would wake them too late. Stefan's hand slipped away from Reynolds` neck.. He let go of the collar, and stumbled back a few steps. His face showed only shock and confusion while he stared down at the growing blood stain on the front of his shirt. It happened so fast.. As he lost strength in his legs, and fell to his knees, he could hear Reynolds laughing.
"Nothing else to say, Walters?" He laughed, keeping his gun pointed at the soldier. "You know, I thought about going for the head, but that would have been too obvious, don't you think? After all, my story has to be as believable as possible. You were holding the Prince hostage, planning on getting a ransom. I tried to talk you out of it, but you were just too far gone.. You threatened me; pulled your gun on me. I tried to fight it away from you, and then.. Well, you can guess the rest." Stefan glared at Reynolds through blurred vision. With one hand desperately trying to stop the blood from escaping his wound--unsuccessfully--his other hand reached out toward the Sergeant. His lips opened to speak, but no words came out. Reynolds glanced up to see lights starting to flick on in the house. He scowled.. "That's my cue. Oh, but don't worry. You and that woman will be together again soon. I'll make sure of that." Putting his boot to Stefan's chest, he shoved, knocking the weakened soldier onto his back. With the wounded man grunting in pain, trying his best just to stay awake, Reynolds turned and ran straight into the woods.

Mellina Mizu Mellina got to the door before hearing the gunshot, spinning around afraid for a second, seeing stefan on the ground with Reynolds. Backing up grabbing the door handle as she realized Stefan wasn't hurt, just that he had tackled Reynolds, glad to see the gun was away from him now, she bolted into the house since Stefan asked her to get out of there. She could hear the shouts, they were dulled the further into the house she was, her pulse all sped up. Running to Ahmose's room and knocking till she got her to wake up, knowing Vincent was probably in the room with her. Mellina figured they'd be the best help if needed.
Ahmose opened the door, seeing the panicked Mellina and her mouth opened to ask what was wrong when they all heard the gunshot. Mellina practically flew from her down the stairs, the vampire pair following after hearing the noise of the others waking and coming from their rooms. Mellina didn't hear the shouting or anything after that shot, running to the door only seeing Stefan from the window, but something was wrong as obvious from the fact he was on the ground. "Stefan!?" Running out to him, wide eyed seeing the large blood staing soaking his clothing. Dropping at his side, Mellina was shaking, "S-Stefan....N-no, no!" frantic seeing all the blood. Her hand going over the one covering his wound, tears running down her cheeks. "Please, s-stay awake, Stefan!" Sobbing, all distraught. Ahmose running out, gasping, "Oh no," her hand over her mouth, vincent coming up behind her seeing why Ahmose had such a shocked expression. She gave him a look like they had to do something now before Stefan was gone.

Something like justice, or something like faith..
The first gunshot had been a scare enough for everyone in the house. It had brought everyone out of their slumbers, confused and sleepy. The frantic knocking on the doors, as well as the second gunshot is what really got everyone panicked. No one but Mellina knew just what was going on; there had been no time to explain before the second shot was fired, and Mellina was speeding downstairs and out of the house. The others could only follow, worried, panicked, confused, hoping for an explanation soon. Not just the vampires heard it, of course. Merlin and the others, when hearing Mellina, Ahmose, and Vince running so noisily outside, had soon followed to find out what this panic was all about.
No one had expected to find what they did..
Reynolds was out of sight now, and only a very injured Stefan was there now, laying nearly motionless on the ground. He no longer had the strength to try to stand. Now he had to use the energy he had to stay awake. Unfortunately, that was harder than he would have hoped. Stefan could hear voices, and the sound of feet running to his side were faint, but when he heard Mellina call his name, he forced himself to open his eyes. He had to make sure she was alright.. Reynolds had stated a pretty big threat before running off. Obviously, he had plans to come back and try to finish the job. He wouldn't let that happen..
Wincing, Stefan used all of his strength to get his words out. "Mellina, g..get back inside. Now.." He cringed, grasping at his bleeding stomach. "I'll be fine. You're not safe out here, please, just--" His words were cut off with another stab of pain. By now, Vincent had seen all of this with Mellina and Ahmose. He looked to the other vampire, concerned. He could hear Stefan's unsteady heartbeat, how it was slowing over the time that they were standing there. He wasn't going to make it to a hospital, and he was already too far gone for simple healing tricks to work. Reynolds got what he'd wanted.. Unless, of course..
Vincent grumbled angrily under his breath, curse words and other phrases that couldn't be heard over the commotion. He made his way closer to Stefan, kneeling on the side of him opposite of Mellina. "Hey, can you still hear me?" He had to verify just how conscious the soldier was. Stefan, however, ignored the question and said, "Vincent, get her to safety.. Don't let Reynolds get to her. He's--" He gasped and his body tensed. "Idiot, stop talking! Look, we're not going to let him lay a hand on her, but for now, you just need to focus on staying awake." He glanced at Mellina, to Ahmose, and back to Stefan. "We're going to help you.. You're going to be fine, alright? Stefan?" Stefan frowned a bit. He didn't believe that.. But he wasn't going to let this worry Mellina.
Looking to her, he did his best to smile. "There. You heard him. I'm.. I'm going to be just fine. So, n..No need to worry, alright?" He stared at her for a moment, his smile fading just a bit. He reached out, grabbing at one of Mellina's hands and pulling it to his lips for a soft kiss. His other hand reached up to touch her cheek. He wanted to kiss her, and maybe that could be seen in his eyes, but by now, he could barely speak, much less prop himself up enough to reach her. The pain started to lessen for the soldier, but even he knew that wasn't a good sign. He was losing consciousness fast now.. He didn't want Mellina to have to watch him die, but.. Well, he wouldn't be able to get her to leave his side, no matter what he said. So he just had to make sure what he did say really counted. "Mellina.. Don't cry, ok?" He chuckled, soundlessly. "You.. have a beautiful smile.. Don't hide it.. crying o-over someone like me."
"Stefan.." Vince was going to tell him to stop talking again, but the soldier wasn't going to listen. He still had something more for Mellina to hear. "I-I wasn't.. going to say this in--in front of everyone," He chuckled again before wincing. "But I.." He paused.. Frowned.. He couldn't keep his eyes open anymore. "Mellina..." His lips barely mouthed out a few unheard words. Then nothing.
The hand that was at Mellina's cheek dropped onto his own chest, and after that, there was no movement.
"Sh*t!.." Vincent started to grumble to himself again. "His heartbeat is still there, but just barely. Ahmose, this is the only chance I have to do it. Mellina, you need to--.." He hesitated. Obviously, "it" was something he planned on doing to save Stefan, but he didn't seem willing to use the time explaining it. If he waited until Stefan's heart stopped, it could be too late. "Just.. stay back." It wasn't like she'd go inside if he told her to.. Carefully sitting Stefan up, Vincent sighed and muttered, "Sorry about this, big guy.. It's going to hurt like hell, and you'll probably hate me for what happens afterward, but.. you'll live. I hope." Before they could run out of any more time, Vincent moved his mouth quickly to the soldier's neck, his sharp kanines sinking deep into Stefan's skin.

Mellina Mizu Mellina paid no attention to the rustling and moving of others running out shortly after them wondering what was going on. Her thoughts were only on one thing...one person. Shaking and tearful looking down at Stefan how he was right now. Hearing his words, she stubbornly shook her head, "I'm not leaving you out here." Her hands moving as if to do something but she just had no idea what to do with him in this state, she was afraid to say press on the wound to stop the bleeding and end up hurting him more or something. Really she was just too nervous and distraught. Mellina kind of twitched, not so much a jump when she saw Vincent kneeling down. Ahmose had come up behind her cousin already. In a lower voice then Vincent as Stefan was pushing the matter of getting Mellina to safety, "S-stefan..." Wanting to say what Vince had, that he needed to just not talk, save his energy.
Tears bubbled up at the rims of her lids, looking down at Stefan trying to offer some smile back, a sad look at the current moment, since she wanted to think and hope that, that he would be okay. She wanted to believe that. As Stefan had taken her hand, her fingers curling around holding to his. Her eyes kind of flicking, feeling Stefan's hand on her cheek. She was getting more and more worried with how he seemed to...slow down. Feeling a lump in her throat, trying to calm the slightest bit, Stefan telling her not to cry. She couldn't help it, more tears running down though she managed a smile for Stefan.
She was getting kind of choked up as she listened to him, a little flutter in her heart at his words. Something he wasn't going to say in front of everyone though now he was going to, and it had her wonder...hoping thinking what she thought he could possibly say. But then nothing, he stopped and his hand fell away from her. Mellina's eyes wide, her lips slightly parted, looking silently horrified, or terrified, "S-Stefan?! No...No,no,no, Stefan!" Her heart pounding, so afraid that he was just going to leave them now.
Looking up at Ahmose and back at Vince, listening to him, seeing Ahmose nodding acknowledgingly, saying to do what he needed. Mellina looking a bit confused, "W-what are you going to do?" Ahmose kneeling and holding her cousin, afraid of how she'd react, though not expecting how she did react. Mellina going wide eyed seeing Vince bite into Stefan's skin, her emotions all awry already so she mistook the situation. "W-What the hell do you think you're doing!" Freaking out a bit, Ahmose moving, pulling her cousin back though she was struggling. "Mellina! Shush, it'll be okay, let him do this. Please just calm down." Holding her tight trying to console her, mellina couldn't watch but had a hard time looking away, clung onto Ahmose just all distraught.

Something like justice, or something like faith..
Even with two fangs piercing into his neck, Stefan showed no sign of "life" except for the faint heartbeat that still sounded in his chest. That just made "step two" of this whole process even more difficult for Vincent. The vampire brought his own wrist to his mouth and bit down, letting his blood flow out through the wounds for a second. He then opened Stefan's mouth--an easy task with the unconscious man--and pressed the bleeding wrist to the soldier's lips. The hard part was getting him to swallow. It took some patience, and a lot of effort to make sure he didn't just choke on it, but eventually Vincent got the man to swallow what should have been enough.
Now, Vince just watched, anxiously, waiting to see if the blood would take effect.. If it did, Mellina would likely not like what was coming next, but Stefan would live, and that was all that mattered at the moment. Seconds seemed like hours as they waited for a reaction, and finally..
"Agh!!" Stefan suddenly choked out in pain, his entire body tensing, his back arching. He was not conscious enough to become aware of his surroundings. Only enough to be aware of the scorching pain that traveled through his body, burning through his bloodstream. Vincent had jumped a bit, but this was a good sign, despite how it looked. It meant he hadn't given him the blood too late. Naturally, everyone was seeing this in a different light. Merlin, frightened for Stefan, had been quick to ask, "What's wrong with him??" The prince may have shared a body with a vampire for years, but he had never witnessed a human's transformation.
"I know it looks bad, but trust me, we want this to happen." He tried to explain it as calmly as he could to avoid the others freaking out too much. "It's just the effect of my blood traveling through his system. He's fine, but he's going to be like this for... Well.." He frowned, having to talk over Stefan, who was unfortunately experiencing pain beyond what he'd ever felt. "This will last a few days, at least, until the ah.. "remedy" reaches his heart... Nothing we can do about it for now.. But the pain will have died down some by tomorrow, and after that, I promise--" He was directing Mellina only now. "I promise, he'll be alright.. Stefan is going to live." What he couldn't find the heart to say, though, was that when Stefan woke up, he wouldn't quite be the same..
--
Three days came and went. The first day was difficult for everyone. Stefan's agony could be heard through every hall of the house. He never spoke any words, except the occasional shout that sounded all-too-close to the word "fire". Vincent had made a mention once, while trying not to let Mellina hear, that "fire" was most likely the best word to describe the burning that Stefan was feeling. Not until the second day, when the pain had died down some, was everyone able to relax a little. The soldier's pain didn't cease, but it calmed enough, at least.. Only grunts and groans could be heard from the room now. Through this time, either Vincent or Ahmose would switch "shifts" to keep an eye on the man, if not watch him together. They seemed hesitant to let anyone else see him, but it wasn't until day three that they treated him as if he had a disease, needing to be quarantined. They refused to let anyone even stand by the door for too long, much less take a peek inside. They were being cautious, and they had good reason to.
On the third day, Stefan's breathing had finally returned to normal, he had stopped groaning, sweating, or tensing up in pain. He just slept.. That evening, for the first time in those days, he opened his eyes. The vampires were ecstatic, but also very concerned. They knew what to expect from this, and it wouldn't be easy to deal with. Not for them, or for Stefan. Even more, now they had to explain to the soldier what happened, and how his life would be different now. He'd have to avoid too much contact with the sun, he'd have to change his eating habits completely, learn to control his temper even more than he had to before he "died". Most likely, he'd have to stay clear from the humans in the house until he was under control, and that included Mellina. Not just that, but they had to explain all of this while keeping Stefan as calm as possible. A newborn vampire was a creature with a very unstable temper.
Unfortunately, Stefan took the news just as Vincent expected him to. That evening, the whole house could hear furniture crashing noisily to the floor, more thudding that would later be explained as a man getting pinned down, and the shouts of two vampires trying to calm down a very angered soldier.

Mellina Mizu Mellina couldn't help watching what Vincent did, Ahmose still holding her as she felt...well weak kneed. And Ahmose didn't want to risk some outburst and Mellina interrupting Vincent. It felt like forever for a time to Mellina, waiting for something, though when something did happen, she felt a wrenching in her gut, seeing Stefan in such pain. It was a heartbreaking situation even with the fact that Stefan would...be alive in some sense. She listened to what Vincent directed her way feeling her eyes still all watered up, barely giving a visible nod for lack of being able to react in any other way.
The next three days were just...unbearable. While Vincent was keeping watch of Stefan at first, Ahmose was staying near Mellina when Diana or any of the others weren't keeping her company. Soon helping in switching shifts to watch Stefan. Mellina mostly hiding out in her room or somewhere outside with Diana or anyone else, she couldn't stay near and hear the screams the first day or so. She like everyone else had heard Stefan's reaction to what Ahmose and Vincent must have told him. Mellina tried and with Ahmose and Vincent's constant insistance to stay away from the room or at least not stay by it for so long. It was hard when she did want to see Stefan. While Stefan had been dealing with the pain of his change and now getting the news he did from Vincent, Mellina had been sulky. It was hard not to be. She kept asking if and when they would get to see Stefan or something, how soon, already anxious.
Two more days had gone by, Stefan had pretty much been confined from everyone for a week now. Vincent and Ahmose having the dilemma in figuring out how Stefan could feed, since he was a newborn and definitly needed it at this point. Mellina had gone out, shooing away the others, she just need to take a walk but didn't want the company. She needed to get out of the house, just knowing Stefan was there and she couldn't see him, it was driving her up the wall, probably as much as it bothered Stefan the same way. Just all absorbed in her own thoughts, looking tired as she walked into the woods around their home. She'd gone some ways in, not realizing she was being careless in this situation, since Reynolds was still out and about, staring at the ground as she walked. edited XP

Had Stefan or the others known just how far Mellina was going, they would have been out there in a heartbeat. Stefan, especially, who wouldn't have even liked the news that she was leaving the house alone. He knew what Reynolds was planning now, and what evil he was capable of. The Sergeant just didn't expect to have left him alive (using the term "alive" loosely). He wouldn't have taken even the slightest risk of letting Mellina go off alone. But in his state, he couldn't even go near her, much less be her bodyguard.
Unfortunately, that's just what she needed now. While she was in her own little world, a dangerous someone was watching her, just waiting for the right time to "pounce", so to speak, without anyone hearing or seeing what might happen. While Mellina was focused more on her own thoughts and the ground at her feet, rather than what was going on around her, it didn't take much for someone to sneak up on her.
"You don't look so good, Mellina," a sickeningly familiar voice spoke up from just in front of her. The voice belonged, of course, to the very man who had caused all of this, who Stefan knew would find his way back in only a matter of time, Sergeant Reynolds. He'd already raised his gun, ready if she tried anything. "What's wrong? Haven't been sleeping well?" A corner of his mouth turned up into a sly smirk. "I heard about Stefan.. So sorry for your loss. He was.. a "good" man. Up until he betrayed me, of course." With his words, the smirk never left his lips. He wasn't saying all of this to convince Mellina. He knew very well that she knew the truth, or enough of it anyway, and was merely taunting her. As if showing off that he'd won. At least, he assumed he did. It was completely against his knowledge that Stefan was alive.
Reynolds stepped closer, enough so that he could reach his free hand out to softly brush some of her hair away from her face. "You shouldn't dwell on that man, Mellina. Stefan is gone. You can't bring him back." He took a small step away. "But, if you want to see him so badly.. I could send you his way." With that, the smirk quickly returned.

Mellina Mizu Mellina sighing, rubbing her eyes, they were red and puffy, and she was tired. She had grabbed a small blanket and had it draped around her shoulders, covering her arms since there was a bit of a chill out. She knew her mentality in going out alone was stupid, but hadn't realized how stupid until hearing that voice. It was like a stab in her chest, a cold chill, goosebumps, heart pounding as she lifted her head. Her whole body trembled seeing the gun aimed at her, that sickening voice of Reynolds speaking to her. Glaring, her stare intense, and angered listening as he was taunting her. "You b*****d!" hissing at him. "He did nothing of the sort and you know it! You're just a piece of scum." Her words dripping venomously angered, prickling with hate. Tensed, shaking yet still pissed, her eyes darting from the gun to Reynolds and back, as he was closer. She couldn't budge, couldn't run. Flinching feeling his fingers brush just so close to her face. Her thoughts flaring in her mind, about how little Reynolds knew, Stefan was still here with them. Glaring about to bite back, but her eyes widened, terrified with those words. "You're disgusting...I hate you!" Her words could and would in this instance get her into trouble she figured that but she had to say it. There was no water source close enough she could use as her safety, but if there were with Reynolds being so close, the backlash could end up in him still pulling the trigger if she attacked him from behind with the water before she could get him away from her. 'Please...Stefan...please.' Pleading in her mind practically praying she needed help.

size=11] Reynolds hadn't even flinched at Mellina's outburst, calling him a b*****d. He begrudgingly accepted that she saw him as the bad guy. No point going after her anymore. Now his job was to cease the prince and bring him back for the reward and praise. Besides, even she knew by now, her words were just endangering her even more. Although, he did enjoy seeing that frightened look on her face, even if just for a second.. He truly loved being in control. "Curse me, yell at me, and hate me all you want, dear Mellina. No one is here to save you anyway. Go ahead." He lifted the gun, pointing it directly at Mellina's forehead. "Get it all off your chest."
At that moment, Reynolds blinked his eyes once, and his view was changed. He no longer saw Mellina standing in front of him, but just a blur of green and black. In the second before he could react or even blink a second time, Reynolds felt a sharp pain at his wrist, accompanied with a spine-chilling crack. He gasped, dropped his gun, but once again, before he could do anything else, even before he could cry out, he was thrown back against a large tree. He fell to the ground, his eyes squeezed shut, groaning as he held onto his broken wrist. All he could think was, 'What the hell is going on?!' He cracked open his eyes just in time to get his back slammed against the tree again. Then he heard his attacker's voice. "Stay away from her!!" Reynolds knew that voice... But he had to have been imagining it.. It couldn't be who he thought it was, right?? Finally getting a good look at whoever was pinning him, his eyes grew wide with horror. "You... What--I.... I killed you! How are you--" The burning red eyes narrowed before pulling Reynolds away from the tree, only to slam him into it once more. "You f*cking b*****d! I should tear your head off right here!!"
"Wait, you can't--How are you still alive?! I shot you! Even if you somehow survived, there's no way you could be this--" He gasped as a very strong hand grabbed at his throat, just barely cutting off his airways. "Like I'd let myself die at the hands of a son of a b*tch like you! Or let you do the same to Mellina!" As he shouted at Reynolds, it was clear that his "canines" had become longer and much sharper than what they should be. Those teeth, like fangs.. The red eyes.. This strength, and.. just having survived that gun shot.. Reynolds suddenly recalled Vince and Ahmose, and the realization hit him, along with a new wave of terror. "S...Stefan, wait...." he choked out with the little breath he could manage. "You... can't...." Reynolds looked into Stefan's eyes and spat the words, "Don't forget.. who you're talking to.. soldier! I.. am your Sergeant, dammit! You listen to my orders, or--" Stefan squeezed Reynolds` throat tighter to shut him up. His eyes burned with anger at hearing the sergeant even try to tell Stefan what to do. And that was all he was going to stand. He was done listening to that man, and he was done talking. "F*ck off!" That was all he had left to say. In just a split second, Stefan was over Reynolds, piercing his fangs into the ex-sergeant's neck, draining him of his blood. The sergeant struggled, but nothing was going to keep Stefan from finishing his first "meal" as a vampire now that he'd started.
He had gone there to save Mellina, but at this point, his new vampiric instincts had taken over. Only when he finally managed to drop Reynolds and come to his senses did he even remember Mellina was there.. And once he did, his heart sank. Stefan didn't say anything. He only kept his back to her. What was he supposed to say? He'd missed her, and he was worried sick, but this hardly seemed the right time to say that. Here he was, over a now lifeless body, his lips and chin covered in the man's blood. He was even scaring himself with what just happened.. All he could think to do was to hastily wipe his mouth on his sleeve. His mind was racing for words until he finally croaked out, still refusing to face her at the moment, "A-Are you ok?"
((the blur of green and black Reynolds saw was Stefan's (open) military coat and black tank top. Stefan was standing right in front of him, so in a flash, that's all he saw xP ))

Mellina Mizu Meillina glared at Reynolds, her eyes if they could would burn into him at this point. Her heart dropped at his words, eventhough she hoped...believed someone would be there...hoping that particular someone, simply even to see the shock from Reynolds if not more. Drawing in a sharp breath with the barrel of the gun pointed right at her forehead, just barely in direct eyeline. Feeling a 'whoosh' though just cutting between her and Reynolds, and that shock of green as she saw him from behind, Mellina was wide eyed, what had occured so quickly as she next saw Reynolds on the ground just barely seconds after being thrown into a large tree and then again. Weak kneed from just the shock of what was happening, Mellina had dropped to the ground, shaking from the prior momets of facing Reynolds and that gun, but now as well. Wide eyed watching, stunned, hearbeat pounding, lungs seemingly forgetting to breath with the current situation.
Hearing Stefan's voice, a frighteningly pissed off tone mixed with Reynolds' what she'd say was a frantic tone...shocked, confused, among other things, seeing how virtually horrified he looked realizing Stefan's still being there and more so at what he was now. Her body frozen where she was, Mellina couldn't take her eyes off the scene, a range of emotions running through her. She'd been scared, angered, panicked, shocked, relieved, and what could closely resemble a kind of bitter pleasure at seeing Reynolds now getting what was coming to him. She couldn't...wouldn't even blink, watching every second, one hand up, gripping onto the fabric of her clothing, her top, feeling her heartbeat, practically hearing it drumming up in her ears.
Shaking visibly, Mellina had gasped, her breathing a little quick as Stefan drained the horrid Sargeant. She watched his body drop after Stefan had finished with him, making him a 'meal'. Up until Stefan had opened his mouth and spoken to her, Mellina hadn't realized the hot tears that'd bubbled up and run down her cheeks. "S-Stefan." hushed, keeping back a sob. That range of emotions earlier, she'd gone through fright in particular, from Reynolds but not Stefan. She was shocked, but couldn't admit to being afraid of him...despite this current...animalistic outburst as it could be qualified. He'd been protecting her, frankly she felt more relief and...even greatful maybe was the other.
Mellina had gotten to her feet, still trembling, unable to calm herself right this moment. He hadn't been facing her, she could assume why, but it didn't matter. She was going to go near him eventhough he seemed somewhat to be in avoidance at the moment. The little distance from where she was to where he was, Mellina had stood and walked over. Arms lacing around Stefan from behind, she clung onto him, burying her face against his back. Letting the tears freely fall now, nodding as her answer to being okay, her fingers gripped onto the tank top he wore under the currently open coat, pressed to his chest. "T-thank you...Stefan..." Moving her head just the slightest, forehead against his back. Crying just glad and relieved and not wanting to let go of Stefan right now. "I knew you'd come...I'd hoped..." Choking up, "I was so scared...I-I shouldn't have been out here, I'm so stupid...It..It just hurt, being so close in that house and I couldn't be near you, wasn't able to see you." Feeling like she had a lump in her throat from her sobbing. She was letting out all her relief, her happiness at him being there, after the days before when Reynolds had shot him and Vincent had turned him. He was 'alive' to her then, but it pained her, knowing as well with him it must have, since he had to be kept basically under lock and key.

Stefan couldn't see the expression on Mellina's face with his back to her, but at the moment, that's how he wanted it. He didn't want to see fear in her eyes after what he'd done. Although he stayed with his back to her, he could hear.. well, shortly put, he could hear everything now. That included her footsteps in the grass, bringing her closer. He didn't want her to see him like this..! "Mellina, please, I can't--" He jerked at feeling her arms wrap around him, but he didn't move, or push her away. As much as he worried for her, he missed this feeling so much.. Even if it was no more than a week, it was the worst week of his life without Mellina there.
Stefan looked down at the fingers clinging to his shirt. His hands lifted, slowly, shakily, to touch her's. But not for long. Some of Reynolds` blood had found their way onto his palms. He seemed almost afraid to let even the blood of that man touch Mellina. Most of all, he was afraid to touch her. What if something inside of him snapped? What if that unbearable bloodlust came back almost as quickly as it seemed to have gone? With no one here to protect her from him, he just couldn't risk hurting her.. But, he could at least talk to her.. Right? "Of course I'd come.. I knew Reynolds would be close. I told them to keep an eye on you, but.." Although she couldn't see it, he smiled, softly. "When I heard you were gone, I snuck out as soon as I had the chance.. I couldn't let him find you.. Hell, I'm mad at myself for not getting to you earlier.."
Stefan was silent for a moment, just letting Mellina talk all of her worries out. He clenched his jaw, trying to contain himself. He wanted to hold her.. To tell her everything was going to be alright, but how could he like this? He wasn't even really supposed to be near her. But he couldn't take it.. He couldn't stand not being able to comfort her when she had been near death. He took her hands and moved them from his chest, so that he could turn around. He didn't give much time for her to look at him--he was still worried of what she'd think of his red eyes and sharp canines--before wrapping his arms around her. He had to be aware of his new strength, as well. He would have loved to hug her with all his might, but he would have to settle for what felt to him like a light squeeze. As long as he could hold her.. "I'm so sorry, Mellina. I wanted to see you, but.. They said I would try to hurt you.. Even if I didn't want to, they said it wasn't something I could control, and.. I couldn't risk doing to you what I did to him."
Stefan kissed the top of her head. "I'm sorry for all of this.. That I wasn't here earlier.. That you had to see this new side of me.. I'm sorry this side of me even exists, but it can't be changed.. Please, understand that. I don't want you to be afraid.." The soldier started to tremble. Just the thought of Mellina being afraid of him, despising him for what he had become, just the thought made him feel sick to his stomach.

Stefan and Mellina had been standing there, just holding each other now that they had finally, finally had the chance to see one another. It seemed like neither one of them were planning on letting the other go any time soon. They wouldn't have, even, but all of a sudden, the two were pulled away from each other in a flash. Mellina was taken at least 10 feet away, while Stefan was dragged the opposite way, then held with his hands behind his back. "Vincent! What's this about??" The vampires, Vincent and Ahmose, had realized Stefan had snuck out, and immediately went searching before he could find Mellina. Seeing that he had already found her, they panicked. Especially at the scene they'd come across; Mell held tight in Stefan's grasp, the soldier nearly covered in blood. Of course, they jumped to conclusions. For Mellina, it all had happened in a flash, but now that Stefan was one of them, seeing the two vampires grab each of them and pull them apart, it was almost like watching it in "real time" for him. He'd seen who the perpetrators were.
Vincent ignored Stefan, however. He was too busy asking Ahmose how Mellina was, if there were signs of bite marks or lacerations, if she seemed dizzy for a loss of blood, and so on. Meanwhile, Stefan was trying to get out of Vincent's grasp, explaining the situation to them, but they weren't listening very well. It wasn't until Vincent smelled the blood from another direction, looked, and spotted the shocking image of the Sergeant's lifeless body, that he stopped to say, "....What the hell happened here??" Stefan sighed--and would have smacked his own forehead if his hands weren't pinned behind him--and said, "Idiot... That's what I've been trying to explain!"

Mellina Mizu Mellina sobbed, sniffling after venting that all out, clinging onto Stefan as if for dear life, basically that was what she was doing, not wanting to let go. Feeling a cool touch of Stefan's hands on her, though it seemed to only last seconds before the now vampire male had pulled them away. Her mind all rattled at this point, and well so was her emotional stability. Meillina was all shaken up by now, after this week, well barely a week but it seemed to go on long enough to her. Shifting just a little, lifting her head, listening, feeling...warmed, a pleasant feeling at Stefan's want to find her, protect her to the point he snuck off from Ahmose and Vince. Shaking her head, "No...don't be mad not at yourself...you still got to me, you were...right on time." Having no other way to say it.
Her fingers tensed, not wanting to let go, but had released from Stefan as he held her hands and turned in her arms. Soon enveloped in his hold, her own arms locking around him again. Burying in against his chest, no fear in her mind, just bliss and relief, the bit of fear from the Reynolds' encounter was dissipating to oblivion. Nodding as Stefan spoke, "I know...I know why Stefan," about why he had been kept from her, why Ahmose and Vince were being basically like overly protective parents to an extreme degree. Nuzzling in against him, looking up after he kissed the top of her head, "you...you're in control now though..." Saying not out of certainty, but just for the fact she figured if he was going to he would have attacked her by now. "Stefan...don't say that...don't be sorry, I know it can't be changed but any part of you is still you...and it means you're alive...you're here...It;d be worse if you weren't." She'd be all melancholy hating things if Stefan were just permanently gone. Burying against him again, "I'm not afraid...never not of you..."
The what could be a blissful moment, at least a nice enough moment, for the two being enar each other, didn't last long. With a sudden gasp, not understanding what had just happened until seeing Ahmose and Vince. "W-what..." Wide eyed, surprised. Stammering trying to get out some intelligible comments, as Ahmose at Vince's questions and insistance had held Mellina and turned her side to side, moving her chin to lift her head, looking all over checking her basically having Mellina maneuvering like a ragdoll. Finally the pink haired woman jumping back swatting though not hard just making Ahmose back off. "Guys! Jeez...We're fine...I'm fine...we were hugging." Glaring at the two kind of ticked. Hmphing, pointing towards the lump that was Reynolds. "That's what happened is all...he popped out in here and came after me, but Stefan showed up and well...got rid of him as you can see." Ahmose looking oh so relieved, "Cousin it's not funny scaring me like that..." Ahmose mouthing at her all riled up from thinking something had been wrong. Shaking her head looking at Vince, thinking at least it wasn't....oh so serious, Mellina wasn't hurt, Stefan was fine he seemed to be at least.

Vincent did listen to what Mellina had to say, but not without making sure Stefan was still contained. He didn't want to risk anything.. And as irritating as it was, the soldier didn't fight. He knew there were great risks, as well, and didn't want to push his luck. He wanted to be entirely sure the blood lust had been completely satisfied before getting close to Mell again.
Vince was skeptical at first.. He took another look at Reynolds` body, then just eyed Stefan. It wasn't the fact that Stefan killed him that surprised Vincent. If anything, that was the part that made the most sense. What surprised him is that the man had enough control to not only seemingly target Reynolds, specifically, but to also fight the urge to go after Mellina after he was finished with the other man. "Doesn't make much sense.... But if you're so sure.." He let Stefan's hands go, slowly and cautiously. "I've still got my eye on you.." Stefan sighed lightly, replying, "Good to know.." He didn't want the two vampires letting their guard completely down around him just yet.
Vincent took one last look at Reynolds, saying, "So... your first kill..." He looked at Stefan, curiously. "How do you feel?" He seemed a little too eager to hear the man's answer. Depending on what it was could show just what kind of vampire he would grow to be. For example, those who grew to be merciless vampires who fed on whoever they chose, after killing their first innocent human, their answer would most likely be something along the lines of "amazing", or "stronger". Stefan, however was not as amused about this as Vincent was.. At the question, he shot Vince a strongly irritated scowl, and said with heavy sarcasm, "Just dandy. Thanks." Of course Stefan felt awful about it! Even if it was Reynolds, to kill any human with his own strength, then to proceed to feed on him like an animal, how could he possibly feel good about it?? He couldn't even believe Vincent would ask!
He had to admit, though.. While he wouldn't say this allowed, because the thought scared even him, during the whole kill, Stefan felt a sense of power. If it wasn't for the overwhelming guilt he felt afterward for slaughtering a human, he could quite possibly become addicted to the feeling.
Shaking the thought from his head, Stefan asked, "So.. Does this mean all of that quarantine crap is done with?" He paused. The real question being, "Can Mellina and I finally see each other after this?" Vincent looked to Ahmose. He was unsure of what to say.. Normally, he figured a newborn needed more time to gain control. He did, anyway. But maybe that was because, when Vince had turned, he'd been completely abandoned and had to learn the whole "control" thing all on his own. ((Can't remember everything I'd said once from Vince's story, so not entirely sure if this is true x'D)) He sighed.. "I.. guess it does. BUT, under the condition that for at least a while longer, you two don't venture off alone. Not where Ahmose and I can't keep an eye--or an ear out for you two. Got it?" Well, that agreement was better than the alternative.. So, looking at Mellina, Stefan smiled, then gave a nod. "Got it."
