So she came to scold him for something he did while changed. Rusty looked at her curiously. "What kids..?" He sighed. "Look. I dunno what you're talking about. Sometimes I can remember wolf nights, other times I can't. And we have the unfortunate timing of a night where I can't. But I already told you, several times, I can't leave yet." He watched her carefully. She couldn't look him in the face. When she finally did look up, he could see the dizziness in her face. He crossed his arms over his chest. "I don't know what to tell you Kira. I can't afford to leave yet. But you're right. I have put your secret in danger. So.. help me."

Kira tilted her head when Rusty asked about the kids. She didn't even think that he might not know what when down when he wolfed out. That would mean he probably didn't remember anything with her. Apparently life didn't completely hate her. "You showed up to a camp out some high school students were having. Thankfully when they ran back into town they were all either drunk or high, some were both, so no one took them seriously." Kira sighed when Rusty said he couldn't leave just yet. She didn't want him to leave, well, she did...but she didn't. The more she thought about it all the more confused she came and the more she hated life.
Kira proceeded to cross her arms in front of her chest when Rusty did his. The gesture offended her a bit, though she wasn't sure why. The last thing Kira expected from him was a request for help. As Kira looked into Rusty's amber eyes she dropped her arms and pushed herself off the wall, taking a couple steps closer.
"What do you mean? Help you how?" Kira raised an eyebrow and shifted her weight a little as a small wave of dizziness washed over her.

Rusty sighed and dropped his arms. "Well.. Once I stayed with an older wolf and his wife. They had a room, I think they built it themselves, and it was basically a safe room. It was solid steel, soundproof, pretty much perfect for changing. His wife was human. When the night came, she locked us both in there with enough food to satisfy our appetites and then released us after we returned to human form in the morning." He gestured for her to follow him to the back of the house. Once he'd lead her there, he opened a door to an empty room. "I don't have anything to put in this room. So I was thinking I could just use this. But I'd need to make it wolf-proof. Unfortunately, I'm not that acquainted with this town, so I'd like your help to find what I need. And since I won't be able to lock myself in or let myself out.. I would probably need you to do that. Unless you want me to recruit someone from town and have to explain to them.." He looked at her, almost pleadingly. He didn't want to involve humans any more than she did. He just wanted to settle some place for a while and be able to lead a mostly normal life.

Kira stayed quiet and followed Rusty as he spoke. The idea seemed strange and was something she'd never let herself get involved in...on the other hand it would keep everyone safe and he wasn't going to leave yet... "That sounds like a permanent solution." She said after a short moment of silence, stepping into the room and looking around it. "And I don't know that I'd want to spend that much time in close quarters with a...someone like you." Kira looked back over at Rusty and sighed. The look on his face would have killed her if she wasn't already dead. "But, if you refuse to leave...I guess I don't have a choice. I'll do what I can." She walked toward him and stopped a couple of feet away. "What do we do first?"

Rusty shook his head at her mention of 'close quarters'. "You would only need to be here to lock me in and let me out in the morning. Throughout the night you can do what you'd like." He paused for a moment, looking around the room. "I need some sort of metal for the walls. Or some kind of harness to keep me from going anywhere... Whatever is easier to work with." He turned to look at her, shutting the door and moving to the kitchen. He got a couple of water bottles, offering one to her. "Thank you Kira. I know my arrival hasn't exactly made life here easy for you. And if this room thing doesn't work out, and you still want me gone, I'll leave when I can." Rusty wasn't sure where this sudden modesty was coming from, but he figured he felt this way for a reason.

Kira sighed as Rusty spoke, following him to the kitchen. "I understand the situation. You're the one that didn't understand my meaning. You being in my town is too close for me. I was hoping I could run you out by now. However, with those kids trying to stir up crazy stories now I can't just kill you and you won't just leave. I'm afraid I'm stuck in the situation. Plus, any amount of time with you like this is too much." When they reached the Kitchen, Kira boosted herself up and sat on a small section of empty counter space, shaking her head at the bottle extended her way. "I don't drink." She mumbled with a shrug. She had no idea what they would be getting or from where. She didn't go out and buy large sheets of metal or restraints good enough to hold in a werewolf very often so she wasn't sure she was going to be much help. When Rusty said he'd leave if the room didn't work out, Kira looked at him confused. "You're going to be leaving when you can even if the room does work. I'm not giving you my permission to stay forever. I'm letting you stay long enough to re cooperate, get some cash, pack up and then you need to move along. Don't read too far into the kindness of a Vampire, Rusty. We're generally less helpful than we seem." Kira knew she was saying what she should, but she found the words hard to say and deep down she wasn't sure she really believed, or wanted, any of it. She ran a hand through her hair and looked down at his floor, really not sure as to why she stopped by now.

Rusty sighed, nodded and walked to the front door. "I guess that's settled then." He glanced out the front window. "What else did you need?" He watched a few people as they walked and drove, one woman in particular caught his eye. She was sitting on her porch, reading. But every few minutes, she'd look up at his house. He moved back to the kitchen. "No one saw you come over, right?" He knew the last thing either of them needed was neighborhood gossip about an affair. Though it could provide a good alibi for his wolf nights.. He mulled over the thought for a moment.

Kira swung her legs just a little as she sat awkwardly on the counter top. When Rusty asked what else she needed, Kira opened her mouth to reply but had nothing. Now she looked like a bigger idiot. Great. Fan-freaking-tastic. Thankfully, Rusty didn't give her a chance to respond anyway. She was too distracted by his question to even remember he asked the first. Why did it matter if anyone saw her come over? What difference did it make? Unless he didn't like her answer and figured now would be a good time to get rid of her...no, she was just being paranoid, that was idiotic...or was it. Kira cleared her throat before shrugging, "I don't know, why?" She asked as coolly as she could. Then she realized it could have something to do with what he'd seen outside. Did someone finally believe the kids that had seen Rusty wolf out? Did they track something in the forest to him? Would they connect something to her? Kira hopped down off the counter and made her way to Rusty's side, glancing nervously at the door. "What did you see?" She asked quietly in case someone was close.

Rusty looked down at Kira, moving slightly as she approached. He offered to let her look out. "That woman, on the porch over there. She's been glancing at my windows a lot in the last minute or two. And she just stopped him," he pointed to a postal worker. "And they've been talking. She gestured over here and they were both watching." Rusty chuckled and walked into the living room. He fell back on the couch and put his hands behind his head. "If she saw you, then I do believe the neighborhood will know that we're having an affair." He couldn't hold back the short laugh. If only they knew what he and Kira were. No one would even think of that. The fact that he and Kira could have calm, civilized encounters like this was an oddity.

Kira gazed outside the window at her neighbor, doing her best to remain unseen. Though Rusty's scenario made sense, Kira knew the woman across the way could be saying a wide variety of things, and there was a good chance she was just making something up to keep the interest in the new guy going. Not too many interesting things happened in their town because new people were a rarity. Kira moved away from the window and leaned against a wall, watching Rusty. She rolled his eyes at his words then glared at him when he began to laugh. His suggestion was disgusting and in now way funny. "You mean the neighborhood will believe we're having an affair." Kira corrected coolly, still slightly annoyed by his attitude about this. "Besides, I doubt one visit constitutes an affair. I'm sure she's saying something about..." Kira trailed off and her eyes widened a bit before she let out an annoyed groan and rubbed her forehead. There was a good chance she and Rusty were the talk of the town. "Actually...they may be talking about us..." Kira frowned and looked back over at Rusty; she couldn't believe she forgot to mention it before. "After you left for the woods, I left out the back gate and happened to run into a younger couple. Early twenties...not that that part matters I guess. Anyway, they were right there when I opened the gate and, I will admit now it wasn't my brightest moment but in my defense I was still on edge, I told them I was tending to your plants while you were out for the night." Kira's frown grew and she shook her head at her own stupidity. There truly was no worse a lie than that. "Clay normally keeps his nose out of other people's business, but Margo not so much..." Kira moved to look out the window again and now there were two other watching the house. She sighed and moved to the back door of Rusty's house. "I think I'm going to change my answer. I can't help you. Apparently I haven't done a very good job of keeping my distance already. You'll just have to save up enough before you turn again, but now you can't just leave town in a hurry either." Kira grew quiet as she thought everything over. "I hate you." Was the only conclusion she could come to.

Rusty dropped his hands and shrugged. "I don't blame you. But you definitely need to lighten up a little bit." He chuckled and stood. He followed her to the back. "You don't have to help me. You're right though, you can't. So, I'll work on getting the money. Hopefully I have it before the next full moon." He opened the back door for her, thinking she wanted to leave. "If not... maybe you should keep the kids out of the woods." He smiled mischeviously. His eyes darkened until they were a blackish-brown color. They would stay this way for a few days while his body recovered the energy lost during his changes. Rusty knew what was coming and braced himself.

A sudden bolt of pain branched out from his shoulders, down to his fingers. He tried not to let it show, gripping the door a little harder than he should. It let out a quiet crack. He looked at Kira. "Go home Kira." He gritted his teeth, hoping she would leave so he could collapse in peace.

Kira blinked at Rusty, she couldn't understand why he didn't seem to think like this wasn't a big deal. Not just because people would be pestering them both around town, but because of what might happen if another vampire wondered into town and heard a rumor that she was shacking up with a werewolf, or the opposite for Rusty. What would happen then? It wouldn't be safe for either one of them...would it? She half heard the rest of what he said, snapping out of her thoughts when Rusty opened the back door for her. She furrowed her brow when she noticed the change in his eyes but it wasn't until he told her to go home that she hesitated. Something about his voice wasn't right. Her eyes widened with worry that she quickly attempted to hide. "Are you alright?" She asked quietly, reaching her hand out to his that was on the door, but freezing when it was a few inches away. "Is there something I can do to help?" Kira didn't even know why she was asking. He clearly wanted her to go and she just said she needed to stay far away, but she just couldn't bring herself to walk out the door without making sure he would be ok. It was stupid, but she couldn't help herself.

Rusty shook his head. "Unless you've got enough morphine to keep an elephant happy for a few days.." He offered a defiant smile. "I'll be fine. I've been through this quite a few times. Things have to adjust." He sighed, gathering some composure. The pain dulled to a throb. It would go back and forth for a few hours, then disappear. Then his legs would go through the same process. By the next day, he'd stop feeling pain. He straightened up slightly, cautious about starting another fit. He looked down at Kira, her concern slightly amusing and slightly.. comforting. Rusty never thought he'd get any sort of feeling like comfort from a vampire. He tilted his head and gave her a curious look. "You don't know much about us, do you? You've never seen what happens to wolves after a change..?" The wolf thought this was interesting. But then, he didn't know very much about vampires himself.

Kira nodded when Rusty said he'd be fine. She hated that his words made her feel so much better, calmer even. She hadn't realized she tensed up until she began to relax. She ran a hand through her hair awkwardly, a little embarrassed by her confused feelings. She couldn't deny that she worried for Rusty, and was starting to almost enjoy being around him, but she also continued to believe that those feelings were beyond wrong. "Normally I would say heat helps with pain, but you're hot enough on your own so I donno." She said with a shrug, of course she wouldn't have anything for pain. Nothing worked on her. Kira looked down at the floor as she spoke, not looking up until Rusty asked her a question. Kira just stood there looking at him for a moment before shaking her head. "I've never seen a wolf after a change. They've either died or I left." She said quietly, hoping her words didn't upset him. She softly bit her bottom lip, unsure of what to do. She didn't want to leave, but she knew she probably should. Instead she just stood there looking like an idiot as she contemplated her options.

Rusty shrugged. "That makes sense." He dropped his hand to his side and moved away from the door. As he headed toward the kitchen, he paused in the middle of the hallway. Pain was shooting through his arms again. Once it passed, he turned his head and offered her a cocky smile. "Well, are you gonna just stand there? Or do you want to watch me fall apart for a few hours?" He chuckled and continued, grabbing several water bottles from the fridge. He returned to the hall to see what Kira decided. Part of him wanted her to leave, but also to stay so he wouldn't be alone.
