Beta blinked. "Oh." She pouted. "Why can't they make figures of speech make a little more sense? 'Specially ones about love. They all sound so painful. "

Jaromila thought about how to answer that, not exactly sure how.
"From what I have read, it is based on a human expression, where a male human lifts his beloved off of her feet. I believe he carries her and holds her in his arms," Mila replied as best as she could.

"Hmmm... but what about that 'head over hooves' one? That doesn't make sense even with humans," Beta pointed out.

Jaromila thought a minute, trying to think of a logical reason for that one.
"I am not quite sure on that one, unless they are referring to how you feel happy and want to do a cartwheel, at least the human version of it," Mila answered. It was the only answer she could come up with.

"A cartwheel? I've never seen a human do a cartwheel." Beta tilted her head and thought about it. "So... they look like a wheel when they do it?" That would make sense, right?

Jaromila tried to remember if she had ever seen in any of her books where a human did a cartwheel.
"I suppose they could make the shape of a wheel in the movement, but I am not sure. I cannot say I have ever seen it happen myself," Mila admitted.

"Maybe one day we'll see one and figure it out." Maybe on one of her local explorations she'd find a human both capable and willing to perform a cartwheel for her.

Jaromila nodded, actually quite curious herself what one might look like.
"Your mother has a chosen, maybe we can ask Lady Dea if she can do one for us. Or if she cannot, maybe she knows someone who can," Mila suggested.

Beta nodded, smiling brightly. "Uh-huh! Though I don't think ladies do much of that stuff..." She'd definitely never seen Lady Dea do anything even remotely what she imagined a cartwheel to be. "But it's worth asking." She smiled. "Wanna ask right now?"

Jaromila nodded her head, though she hoped the woman was not too busy.
"Yes, I must admit, I am quite curious, but I do hope she does not have her hands full. I would hate to disturb her if she needs to do something important," Mila spoke.

"Well, we can just ask Mama if she's busy or not," Beta replied. After all, Serenity and Dea were bonded. They could communicate without being near each other, right? Or something like that... she'd never really understood the details.

Of course, Jaromila had forgotten bonded could communicate with one another.
"Yes, that is right, your mother would know if Lady Dea were busy or not. Yes, let us ask her, so we make sure not disturb her chosen," Mila agreed.

Beta nodded, then got to her feet. "Let's go, then!" she said cheerfully. Hopefully Lady Dea would be able to do a cartwheel or introduce them to someone who could. She was really curious!

Jaromila got up on her hooves, admitting she was starting to get excited by the prospect of seeing someone do a cartwheel.
"Alright, lead the way, since you know where your mom is," Mila told the other.

"Right!" Beta led the way back home, smiling when she spotted her adopted mother. "Mama!" The mare practically pranced over to Serenity, eyes alight. "Mama, is Dea busy?"
