Near the strength game/Aulus/Claire/Rory
When Thor sparked up, Tambrey, still looking at him, couldn't stifle a yelp and a noticeable couple of steps backward, staying on the other side of whoever was nearest, from the pokémon for a few seconds. She hung back though, between the group and Rory when he had to pause to comfort the little Pichu. "Uh. I'll be there in a sec' too..."
She didn't really know what she could do to help, but it felt right to hang back. "Is he okay? 'M... guessing he scared himself a bit?" He'd certainly scared her a little anyway. Tambrey wasn't so distracted that she wasn't keeping an eye on things around her- Team Rocket provided a life with enough reason to keep vigilant always and she was still 'antsy' about being where they were- so she was able to offer a small wave when she saw familiar faces approaching (vigilant, maybe, but she saw 'friends' rather than team mates without quite thinking about it).

[Strength game group. Mr. Weidman.]
Something niggled at him as he watched Lore take a swing at the strength game, and his deep chuckle at the dramatic pose was not as rich as it might have been. What was bothering him? "You be careful Lore! Ripped muscles are no fun. Here, let me take a bash at it." Dith took the hammer and hefted it lightly in one hand before grasping it in both and bringing it down on the target circle with all his might.
As the puck shot upwards he realised what had been bothering him these last few moments. He had heard a familiar voice, and now he saw a familiar face approaching through the crowd. The Rocket girl. Rather than looking to see if he had hit the top of the tower or not he studied the girl's companion; a scar-faced young man who he would bet nearly anything was a Rocket too.... Oh yes, stalking beside him was that Absol the girl had been looking after for a friend. So she'd found him, or he'd come back, or whatever.
Rockets.
This was not good, not good at all.
He didn't want a repeat of the contest - the scars still prickled sometimes - and over there playing the slots as casual as you please was the boy who had charged by on the Aggron that had given the scars to him. Jack's 'friend'.
The important thing to do was not to panic, or cause a panic. Still holding the hammer in one hand, in a very tight grip now, Dith took out his phone and tapped out a text.
To: Tharon Weidman Message: Rockets mingling at the end of summer faire, at least two I know of for sure. Suggestions?
With that done he snapped back to reality a bit and gave a plastic smile. "So... who's next then?"
Down on the ground Viktor tensed up too; he'd spotted the girl and the Pikachu and the Absol, and was not pleased in the least.
*******************
[Claire, strength game group]
Nodding cheerful agreement Aulus set off beside Claire, cheerfully shouldering people out of the way if they didn't move fast enough. As they drew closer a movement out of the corner out his eye drew his attention; Tortie was stalking beside him as ever, but she had started to hackle. Frowning in confusion Aulus cast around; his Absol might have a short temper but she didn't get worked up over nothing. "What's got into you?" he murmured, resting a hand on her shoulders as he continued he scan. So far as he could tell nothing out of the ordinary was going on, but there had to be something upsetting her.
As her trainer rested a hand on her Tortie's lips pulled back to show off her sharp fangs. she growled, glancing up at Zeus.

[Tambrey]
"He'll be okay," Rory told Tambrey as he continued to rub the pichu's back as his tiny cries began to slow down. "Just too much excitement for him, plus the first time he's had that much sugar."
Though he wouldn't admit it, he was slightly glad the other Rocket had hung back a bit. "That's the first time I've seen him spark like that since he hatched."
When the black lizard heard the loud cry of a pichu, he looked around to see where it had come from. He gave a happy cry when he spotted a familiar blond head of hair. He scurried over quickly hand tugged at the blond man's pant leg. He held up his claws and pointed towards the pichu, trying to motion that he would calm the pokemon down so the man could join his friends.
Rory looked down when he felt the tugging and saw the charmander staring up at him. He looked to where the little lizard was pointing, then looked between the pichu and the fire type, devating over what to do.
He knelt down to address the lizard, "Will you follow us?" he asked, wanting to make sure before he handed over his pokemon. When the charmander nodded fervently, Rory took a deep breath and handed the pichu over to the black lizard. He received a 'char' from the pokemon as he adjusted the pichu in his tiny arms and diligently stood next to Rory.
This got a small chuckle out of the man as he turned his attention back to the female grunt. "So shall we join them?" he asked holding out a arm to her.

[KO, slots peeps]
"Guess the slots just have liked me today." Xander said to the game operator with a smile and a shrug. It seemed that the Jigglypuff was occupied with the clown and the guy that had been glomped by him. The blond looked over at KO when he dropped his ice pop then tried the slots a few more times. "Mmm, no secret here, maybe you just would be better at a more hands on type of game." Xander gave a small grin then gave it another go him self.

Shizuo glanced back when he heard the Pichu crying to see Rory and Tambrey falling back. He shrugged and looked back to the others as Lore stepped up to take a swing. He have a nod to Lore when the man managed to get over half way and then gave a grin to Dith when he went though it looked like the man was distracted, proved by his large friend pulling out a cell to text. He raised an eyebrow in silent question to the trainer then took the hammer. "I'll give it a shot." He held the hammer up the brought it down hard.

[Aulus, Dith, strength group]
Although she wasn't exactly super excited to head towards the game, seeing as Dimitry would immediately recognize her, she wasn't about to voice that concern to Aulus at the moment. Her hand slipped around his arm as she strode through the crowd with him - people might otherwise get the idea to try and walk between them, and she didn't want to have to push anyone too hard - and when he stopped, she did as well. She frowned slightly as she watched Tortie, and therefore completely missed Dith's actions. Still frowning, her purple eyes briefly scanned the area in the general direction the Absol was looking in, and could only surmise she was growling at Dimitry. Claire pursed her lips slightly and gently nudged Aulus with her arm to get his attention. "She's probably seen someone she doesn't like," she said pointedly, then added, "someone she met while you were away."
Zeus was alert but looking bored (he couldn't look interested in anything, of course not) but as soon as the pair stopped and Tortie started growling, he focused on her with interest. His ears twitched at her words, but he didn't so much as bother to spare the large man or his Espeon even one glance. Instead, he lowered his head, pinned his ears back and growled at her. he growled. you start anything, then you are going to be in a s**t-load of trouble. You should know that.> Arceus, seriously? They weren't here to steal anything or battle anyone or anything like that. Their trainers had just come on their day off to enjoy themselves. That did not include suddenly attacking someone completely out of the blue. Ugh, idiot.

[Strength game group, Trainer group]
At Shizuo's glance Dith pursed his lips and took out his phone again; he didn't want to cause fuss, but he couldn't leave the others unaware.
To: [The gang] Message: Rockets here. 1 by strength game w black & purple hair (male with her prob. Rocket) & 1 playing slots, blond.
No reply from Weidman, but expecting one so soon was wishful thinking. Well then, he would have to do something himself. He considered calling her out, but doing so would probably cause panic and they really could do without a stampede. Nothing so blatant then, though Shizuo might have his own ideas when he got the message, but he wasn't just going to stand here.
Eventually he reached a decision and moved the Rocket girl and her - by the looks of it - boyfriend; Viktor stuck close to his heels. "Hello, fancy seeing you here," Dith rumbled, sounding about as friendly as a Gyrados. "It is a lovely day, is it not? And this must be the friend you were watching pokemon for. How nice to meet you young man. I've been telling my friends all about you, you know." Though he made no hostile motion the massive Russian's arms and shoulders were tense, and his hawk-like were hard. If they were here to cause trouble he wanted it to be perfectly clear that he was not going to tolerate it.
----------------
[Strength game group]
Tortie replied grudgingly, fantasize about ripping them to shreds.>
...Oh. Aulus paused, looked down at Claire, and then back up at the little gathering they were approaching. One of the people was now approaching them; the big man, who looked even bigger close to. As soon as the man started speaking Aulus bristled, and when he mentioned telling his friends all about them he tensed.
A feeling of trapped panic started to bubble in his gut; the huge man knew they were Rockets, they would be arrested, and questioned and-
Clenching his fists Aulus pushed away the panic, sought anger in its place. "Back off old man," he snarled, "I don't know who you are or what you want but believe me, you don't want to mess with me." He could take him, size wasn't everything, he'd snap his neck if the b*****d so much as looked as though he might try to hurt Claire!

The game man watched the players with amusement. The first young man seemed to have definitely picked the machine with the better odds setting.
[ Inigo ]
Rouge huffed and turned back to the Jigglypuff. Going by body language, the jester was as good as pouting. A couple seconds ticked by.
"Can you juggle?" the clown asked in a rare moment of possible seriousness. The clown turned its head back to watch the bean bag going up and down.

[Aulus, Dith]
Claire wasn't really surprised when the large man approached, but she didn't expect him to look quite so tense and.. vaguely menacing. She listened and watched him speak with one eyebrow raised, although that one phrase in particular hit her hard. I've been telling my friends all about you, you know. As if it were some casual thing. The agent blinked a couple times, almost surprised by this - well, she was, but she shouldn't be. She should have expected it.
She opened her mouth to reply, but Aulus reacted first - unsurprisingly - so she gave his hand a squeeze and peered up at him. "Calm down," she chided him softly. Even if this man had no idea who they were - which was now an unfortunate truth - she wouldn't want a scene regardless. The last thing they needed was that, especially somewhere that wasn't even a remotely possible target for a mission. That done, she focused on Dimitry again - and her countenance immediately changed from an affectionate, concerned one for Aulus to one of cool aloof, unabashed scrutiny for this man. "It is a lovely day, isn't it? Or it was," she said pointedly, eying him rather reproachfully. "Perfect weather for a day off, too," she added, a displeased frown forming on her face, "wouldn't you agree?" It had been the start of a nice day off, but now it was turning into something very much less than pleasant. Ugh. Perfect. "You can tell your friends hello, if you like, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. Come on," she finished, the last two words aimed at Aulus as she aimed a rather poignant, disappointed look at the tall blond man before focusing a slightly hopeful smile at her companion, "let's go find another game to play, somewhere with a less hostile crowd. There's ring toss over there," she indicated with a nod of her head as she began heading that way, her fingers still intertwined with his (she gave them a squeeze, just in case). Her voice was normal, at a normal level - Dimitry could listen in if he wanted, she hadn't anything to hide in her words, but she wasn't about to go out of her way to make sure he knew where they were going. If he really cared all that much, then he was a creeper. "Wanna go check that out? That's another skill game." In less obvious words, let's get the hell away from him.
She had been tempted to suggest a ride, but apart from eating recently she had another reason to avoid them - in case anyone got any ideas, she didn't want to be in an enclosed space with restraints, ride or otherwise. Games were definitely the better option.
-------
[Rouge, slots group]
Inigo seemed surprised by the sudden question, and he paused in his bean bag tossing for a brief moment for thought, then shook his head and resumed the tossing. "Nah, unless this counts, but I don't think it does. What about you? How many things can you juggle at a time? Since obviously you can juggle three," he said with a light chuckle as he tossed the bean bag up once more, this time aiming it to come down in front of the jester to see if it would be caught or neglected again.

[Claire, Dith]
“I’m not done with him yet,” Aulus growled in an undertone to Claire, standing still where he was with his sharp red eyes still fixed on the big man. “You watch your step; don’t think you’re the only one with friends. Maybe we’ll tell ours all about you, maybe you should have thought about that before you opened your big mouth, you ******** commie.” Doing anything today would be foolish... but there was always tomorrow.
-----------
[Claire, Aulus]
The hurt, or maybe disappointed, look the girl gave him was a surprise. The attitude of her scarred friend was not. The muscles in Dith’s shoulders shifted slightly and he stepped around in front of Claire, hands spread in the universal signal for ‘unarmed, not going to attack you’. “This isn’t like meeting you somewhere out in the wild where I can pretend things aren’t as they are, and I can't be distracted by wondering why they are like that and feeling sympathy,” he said softly, not wishing to be overheard.
“My friends are here, and innocent people are here. I’ve picked out you, and at least one other of your friends that I know of. I don’t want a panic, or a scene, but I will not allow the people I care about to be taken by surprise as we were at the contest if you're planning something today. Your blond friend by the slots nearly killed me so you will excuse me for being a bit wary. As for you,” he gave Aulus an unimpressed look, “you tell your friends what you want to, but be sure you also tell them that if they harm my friends I will snap them like toothpicks, you racist p***k.”
-----------
[Slots]
Mmmh, that was interesting. KO absently tried another round at the slots, but his gaze had flickered over to a familiar tall figure. Maybe he should go and say hi to his friend Dimitry, and play surprised if the gold-haired man told him that his little eevee had been stolen. Just at the moment though it looked like he was occupied... occupied with talking to couple of people he recognised from base. Didn’t look like an especially friendly conversation.

[Aulus, Dith]
Claire stopped again when her attempt at a tactful departure was not only ignored but outright refused - not just by one, but by both of them. She was clearly not expecting this - none of this - and was just as clearly not happy with the situation. For the time being she remained standing there, glancing back and forth between the two and was growing less pleased by the minute - mostly with Aulus, but she couldn't blame him for his reaction to the situation. If she felt vaguely almost trapped (they weren't really, she was quite sure), she couldn't imagine how he felt. Still, that didn't mean she was enjoying it or encouraging it.
Blond friend -- purple eyes slid to the slots briefly to scan the heads there, noting Xander sitting next to some other man. Xander. "I wouldn't know how surprised anyone was at the contest you're referring to - I wasn't there, fortunately. I'm sorry you were." It would have probably been an interesting event to attend, maybe, although contests always reminded her of her sister. No, actually, she didn't think she'd want to attend a contest after all. She might see her sister there. "All the same, like I said, we're here to enjoy our day off. I'm sure practically everyone is here for that same reason," she said pointedly. "Besides, I can see why a contest would be targeted - not a fair." Honestly, what was there to steal at a fair? Tokens? Cotton candy? Run-of-the-mill common pokemon that probably came from Team Rocket facilities originally? No, a fair wouldn't be a very good target at all. The only use she could glean from it would be to draw people away from other areas of the island so heists could be carried out successfully in other areas that would be less populated due to everyone attending the fair.
"Anyway," she said, straightening up a bit, "enough with the name-calling. Both of you," the agent said with a pointed Look at Aulus. "I don't think anybody ever really wants to have a scene; I certainly don't. Anyway," Claire continued coolly in a more normal volume, "like I said before, we're going elsewhere --" and damn it all to hell they were damn well going to ******** go elsewhere, even if she had to drag Aulus herself, "-- so enjoy the rest of your day off. I'm going to enjoy mine --" even if it ******** killed her because ugh, eff guys to hell, "-- maybe a movie?" She finished, the last part aimed at Aulus in a more light-hearted tone as she, once again, turned away and started walking. Her hand was still in his, but her grip was more firm and bespoke quite clearly of her intent to leave. Now.

A low rumble echoed from the west, making many local heads turn towards the ocean. Dark clouds had gathered on the horizon, and those perceptive to such things would notice a distinctive change in the air.

Somewhere in Camphoreon...
"Hey, Vee! Are you ready yet? Don't forget we have that meeting in fifteen. Hmm? Hey, your phone is beeping. You have a text messa- What?! Oh for- ONLY YOU WOULD BE IN THE SHOWER WHEN A ROCKET REPORT COMES IN!! Weidman! THARON. WEIDMAN!! You stop that singing and get out here!
"..................... Fine! I'll do it."
----------
Dith's phone at last received a text message from Weidman's phone number.
Weismann is currently occipital. Tank you for info. Sunfish pardon. Do not spirochete. --League Rep Dora
Someone seemed to be unfamiliar with a certain phone's auto correct feature...
----------
[ Slots crowd ]
The friendly game man suppressed a chuckle at KO's continued misfortune. "Ah, well. Them's the breaks, I suppose."
To the players and people milling around the booth at large, he stated, "Looks like we have some weather blowing in, folks. They'll have to shut the fair down soon if that's what's happening, so best to be getting in any final rolls. I may even consider bringing down the token costs for the prizes. Less for me to carry back to the office."
[ Inigo ]
As the bean bag dropped, Rouge's arms and hands stayed in place. Just before it hit the ground, though, a booted toe reached out the short distance and stopped the fall. "I can juggle three things." The bean bag bounced upward once. Twice. Three times. "I can juggle four things." The bag was intercepted and bounced again off a knee. "I can juggle more things." Another bounce, this time higher. At the same time, Rouge ducked forward. When the jester stood straight again, there was a bean bag balanced perfectly on top of the black and red hat. The small bells tinkled at the motions. Rouge grinned.

At this point Aulus was distinctly aware that he had two options. Option one: leave right now. Option two: start breaking faces. This time he allowed Claire to tug him away, but as they moved off he took his camera from its case on his belt, raised it an snapped off a literal parting shot along with a sneer. The picture was entirely unnecessary, the guy was really easy to describe, but he wanted the man to know he was going to be passing this around.
"A movie," he turned to Claire and nodded, putting his camera away again and trying to push away his bad mood. Oddly enough it was a bad portent from the west the actually managed to make him crack a bit of a smile again. "Looks like it might be a good time to make a move anyway... and we don't want to be flying in the storm. A couple of hours indoors with overpriced snacks and beverages sounds good to me."
------------
[Claire, Aulus, Dora]
When the scarred man raised a camera at him Dith folded his arms across his barrel chest and pursed his lips. Well then. He thought about getting a picture of them to send off to Weidman and share with the others but was distracted from making a decision by his phone buzzing. Taking it out he quickly read the message... and then read it again. And frowned. And read it again. "Что за хрень?" Had he forgotten how to English in his annoyance at Mr Look At How Manly I Am?

Dith looked at his new message. He sighed; bit late for that now.
To: Weidman Message: A bit late for that, but on plus side I confirmed one suspected as definite. They've gone now, w/out violence, apparently to watch a movie or something. During the various conversations, the atmosphere had dropped into an odd stillness. The clouds on the horizon were quickly approaching, flickers of light obvious in the darker regions and followed some seconds later by the now familiar rumble. Additional clouds had meanwhile been forming in the surrounding area, blotting out and dimming the sunlight that had previously been gracing the fairgrounds. Almost entirely unnoticed by those from other areas, things had gone from bright and sunny and green, to dim, heavy, and very saturated colors.[ Slots ]This time, the game man did chuckle. "That's what the barber's for-"He was cut off in mid-sentence as a deafening "CRACK!" sounded in the air above at the same time as a sudden flash, causing the game operator to jump and drop the two new tokens in surprise, followed by more rumbling in the distance. The wind started to pick up again."I-I'd say that's a wrap for today, folks. None of you want to be out in this mess that's brewing." Counting up the coins before tossing them back into the bucket, he pointed at Xander and KO. "You two hold on a sec," he ordered, rooting under the back of the counter.---------- [ Everyone ]
Earlier in the day, a crude PA system had been rigged throughout the fair. Now those speakers crackled to life with the static of disuse.
"Attention. Attention. The Jinko City Fair will be closing early due to inclement weather this afternoon and evening. Residents and fair-goers are advised to move indoors for shelter to wait out the storm. I repeat: The Jinko City Fair is..." The announcement was repeated two more times. As the person spoke, personnel had started to pop up here and there throughout the crowds, wearing yellow reflective vests and directing people in the direction of the nearest local business or building.
((The Jinko City Fair ORP is coming to an end! Aww. Everyone has the rest of today and tomorrow to continue RPing. Just be sure to take care of any final wrapping up by 3AM EST on Saturday morning. This thread will be locked and closed at that time.))---------- [ Back at the Slots... ]Rouge had also jolted at the loud crack, dropping the grin and looking upward. "Five minutes... Time to go," the jester muttered in a low voice to no one in particular. The remaining bean bags on the ground were scooped up and tucked into the back of Rouge's boots. Without stopping, the clown was already moving past Inigo for the slot machine stall before it had even finished standing straight. It didn't even wait for directions before vaulting the counter, grabbing up an empty cardboard box, and began clearing the back shelf first of anything that looked important. "You deal with them, Old Man. I've got this." "Thank you, Loony. Right. You two young men," the game operator said to Xander and KO, standing up again with what looked like copies of a price list in one hand, and placed his other hand on the counter. "Technically, these babies cost a good deal more. But that's gambling and you two have been good consumers today, so I'll cut you both a deal. Pick any one of the prizes from these spots." Picking up a pen, he drew a bracket around a set of four lines, and turned the page for Xander to read. He then repeated the action with a second copy, this time outlining a different set of four, and turned it for KO to see.
The lists read as follows:Natsuko-neko [ 50 Pts ] 16___ | | Ponyta + Evo (Rapidash) | Sneasel + Evo (Weavile) | Swablu + Evo (Altaria) | Cottonee + Sun Stone (Whimsicott) |__ TawnyAngel [ 20 Pts ]8___ | | Spinarak + Evo (Ariados) | Carvanha + Evo (Sharpedo) | Shuppet + Evo (Banette) | Buneary + Evo (Lopunny) |__
