"Calligraphy!" The Engraver clapped her ink stained hands, setting aside her attempt at making a plushie to instead feel around for a few moments for some paper, brushed and inkwells. The minipets continued their game of chase around the booth, leaving Needle to gesture the Mantis closer. "I adore calligraphy! Please, show me?" Ink was her true love, actually; Calligraphy was a close third (behind tattoos).
As she smoothed the paper on a clear section of the booth she sensed another pair nearby, and after looking over her shoulder spotted a curious silhouette. Another small smile and a gesture of an inky hand, and she patted the spot between herself and Yin. "Come! Come see!"
No pressure or anything, Yin. Needle was just too excited for someone to use some ink; something she could actually see!EVERYONE IN THE BOOTH YAY

Heidla was peacefully passing by, when her attention was caught by some hazardous minipets who seemed to have a plan to destroy the booth entirely. Her pathetic effort in calming one of the minis down a bit was awarded by a cloud of glitter: now she was sparkling as a jackdamned vampire Fairy. Perhaps, trying to reason the minipet wasn't the best idea, and her best skills definitely do not lie in peacekeeping.

Jove's tail wagged in the shy manner of a child being pulled into the spotlight, but he did approach. Unlike art, Calligraphy was something he understood. He had often watched his caretaker write important letters with his fancy letter-writing pen, during those quiet pre-academy days when he would curl up on that ancient hardwood desk. At first he was just a silent observer, curious as to the shape and form of the delicate marks, but even once his caretaker had begun teaching him language he had been allowed to watch those letters being written. The pup was more comfortable having surrounded himself with warm, familiar thoughts, and settled in between the two older students. To the one with the spikes, he hesitantly reached a finger out and touched one, seeing if it was really as solid and sharp as it looked.

"I...I am not that good," he confessed, but still he took the offered seat next to her. A familiar boil joined them and gave him a smile and a murmured hello. He took the brush, one of the only utensils that was not completely awkward in his overly large, clawed hands, considering he had been taught to use the brush as a scareling and hesitated for a moment looking at the blank paper. He dipped the brush into the ink and then began to write. He chose the best thing he knew how to write, his own name, letting the brush flow across the page. It was actually relaxing to write like this for once. When he was finished he put the brush down, looking at his own work. "It is not the best as you can see. Nothing like a master's. Do you practice calligraphy yourself?" His gaze raised to look at Needle, and then glanced at Jove as well.

Luckily for both Needle and Jove, the spike the boil decided to press was an old one. There was a new one higher up on her arm that left her inky skin angry, bruised and pained; but the old one didn't affect her to touch. She did feel him press it, but it was nothing more than as though he'd poked her skin; simple pressure. It was indeed sharp and certainly solid.
"Ah! Be careful, I would not want to hurt you by accident!" She warned him softly, but she didn't move her arm away from him. If he wanted to keep poking her needles, he could...but he couldn't say she didn't warn him.
The little demonstration raised a happy noise in her throat, her arms lifting - carefully, because of the fellow ghost at her side - so she could clap her stained hands together just once. "What work! 'Yin Cang'...is that your name? I do practice it on occasion, but I dabble in anything ink related. I am not as good at it as I am at tattooing, however." Her hands lowered, but one rested carefully on Jove's shoulder.
"What about you? Can you do calligraphy? Would you like to try?"

Jove was as curious about this ghoul's needles as he had once been about Junko's hair, but since they didn't seem inclined to animate themselves and interact with him, the pup's interest soon shifted towards the mantis and his writing. It really was nice, especially since it was done with a brush and not a fancy pen like his caretaker's. The foxfire glanced up when he felt the hand on his shoulder, and shook his head determinedly. No, his writing was still nothing more than a child's scrawl, and he didn't want to waste materials on sloppy work.

Yin was getting easily embarrassed from the praise but nodded at his name. Ah, tattooing... "I am not sure I understand the appeal of tattoos. Are they not permanent? What if you ceased to like the tattoo?" He frowned slightly as he thought about it. Of course, the demon mark on his hand almost looked like one, but it was a side affect of a pact he had made, not something he had actively sought out. Jove indicated that he did not want to try, but Yin could not help but wonder why he was there at the booth then. "Do you practice any crafts?" He asked the other boil.

No? Well okay. "Alright! If you change your mind let me know~" She wouldn't force anyone to do anything they didn't want to do, after all. The Engraver did take the time to pick up the pen and ink, carefully writing her own name in calligraphy, above Yin's. The problem was that she seemed to doodle more than write, her name ending up with some unwanted embellishments and designs; if anyone paid attention to her hand, it actually did look like she was struggling with an invisible source.
Stupid, bullying ink.
"My tattoos...are not normal tattoos. They are designed by their wearer, from their emotions, their dreams, their nightmares...anything they focus on at the time of the tattooing." She held out an arm for the boil to inspect; her hands and forearms were so ink stained you couldn't see any designs, but the further up her arm they looked the more clear the tattoos became; they were mostly snakes and holly, the signs of her clan.
"Our tattoos are...like a stamp in your life. Mine are all clan related, but there are subtle differences that express things that are unique to me. I could never cease to like a tattoo, as it symbolizes who I was at one point in my life."
Yin asked the boil about his crafts, and Needle took the time to reach out and pull some crayons near her. She picked one up - apparently it was a bright pink one - and tried to write her name again.
Child's Scrawl was an understatement for her work with crayons.

Jove favoured Yin with a good head tilt. No, he didn't practice any crafts, unless growing mushrooms was a craft. Or if drawing pictures was a craft. Sometimes he drew pictures with Ren, but it was almost more fun watching his brother draw. He always struggled with his own pictures, because they just didn't look like he wanted them to look. On the other hand, Ren's just looked silly. His attentiveness was evident in the twist of his ears as the other two talked about tattoos, this was another thing he hadn't been taught about. He leaned over with interest as the ghoul held out her arm and gave a curious sniff, but the inky smell was everywhere and impossible to pinpoint. Had she drawn them on? And if that was the case, what happened if she took a bath? Would all the ink come off?

He went over to them and tried yet again to calm them. He thought he understood them. He thought they were friends. Instead they dumped a bucket of paint on his head and tried to stuff pencil shavings into his dog ears. Tired of being harassed he backed off to take his little prize. That would work. He didn't need another bigger then that to prove anything.

The calligraphy, while not strictly so, was stylistic and rather pretty to look at. Sometimes her hand moved in odd ways, but he was more distracted by her explanation than watching her for the time being. It was hard to understand but...it was related to her Clan. That was important, he understood what a clan could mean to a person. And the fact that they symbolized so much to her made them seem like good decisions. "They look quite nice on you," he said politely, watching as she got out something else to work with. The other boil was rather silent, but he seemed attentive enough. Yin was not sure what to say to him. Not-too-awkward silence abounded.
