Niki sighed. She really didn't want to continue their conversation from earlier since there was a younger kid in there. So... another topic....
"How was class?" She asked, right on the heels of Tali's question, then blushed. It sounded like they were interrogating him. Poor kiddo.

Kakashi blinked and lowered his hand from his eye as Tali spoke to him, "Yes, I'm okay. It just feels funny, it has been like that since it got cut..." His voice trailed of uncertainly, single open eye narrowing slightly.
Turning his head to look at Niki, he replied, "It was okay, I guess." He smiled a bit. That was the most he had said at one time for a long while, almost to long. He needed to become more social, and he understood that, in his own childish way.

"Ah.." Tali nodded. "Well...I've got to get going. See everyone in a bit!" The teen stood, collected his book while avoiding getting close to Niki, and left.

Kakashi sighed and leaned back in the chair, then shifted his position again. It had gotten quiet, and the warmth of the room coupled with the silence lulled him, making him sleepy. Yawning and and changing position once more, Kakashi gave up on sitting in the chair and laid down on it, curling up on the seat, back against one armrest. Keeping where he could see the entire room if he had to, Kakashi let his single open eye slide shut slowly as his breathing became deep and even. His body relaxed, the tension around his scarred eye loosening, then fading away entirely.

((I am going to assume that since no one has posted in this thread since April it's ok to start a new RP....and I hope its ok that I take a few liberties in imagining rules that the children might have to follow?))
Gabriella wandered into the common room, one of her school assignments under her arm, and a snack that she had lifted from the kitchen in the other hand. With a satisfied sigh, she plopped down in one of the oversized chairs and lay there for a moment, before kicking off her shoes and stockings and letting her toes run over the soft carpet. She didn't particularly care that she was supposed to keep her shoes on unless she was in her room, and that children were not supposed to take food out of the dining hall, unless given specific permission. Gabriella wasn't one who cared too much for rules. To her, they were just placed in front of her, daring them to be broken.
The dark-skinned girl began munching on the stolen cookies, getting crumbs all over her already soiled dress. She had been trying to climb on the roof earlier and ended up getting dirt all over herself. Today she hadn't actually managed to get onto the roof, as she had been discovered by one of the matrons, but she would manage it sometime. Maybe tomorrow even.
Making a face, she crossed her knees in front of her and opened the textbook to the place where she was supposed to be reading from. It was a section on the history of the city of Nanedin, which she wasn't partiuclarly interested in. She would have rather been out causing more trouble. Resignedly though, she finished the cookie and began her reading.

A white-robed adult came pacing into the room, her robes swirling around her as she moved. Without noticing who else was about, she went straight to a chair in one of the corners and abruptly sat down without a sound, her face looking like she was hard-pressed not to cry. Or perhaps she was trying to cry and had run out of tears to cry with. She drew one leg up against her and placed her chin on her knee, closing her eyes to think better. An earthworm peeked out from beneath her collar and attempted to sooth its companion by wrapping around her neck in a comforting way.

A toddler came wandering into the room, a bit steadier on his feet than most others. Then again, he looked older than most, his clothing starting to get that look of almost-too-small. Aiko pushed his shaggy hair back out of his face and looked at the two girls in the room. One was looking at what his Matron had called a book. She read to him from some. They had neat stories and pretty pictures. But this girl's book looked bigger than the colorful ones he'd seen and was very dull in color. The story must not be very good then if the book was so drab looking.
And the other girl looked sad. Aiko didn't like it when people were sad. He wandered over to Parmida, patting her arm softly. "It's okay..." He whispered, repeating what his Matron told him when he was upset.

Gabriella glanced up as the other two entered the room. Hmm....maybe this wasn't the best place to be studying. Too many distractions...not that she really wanted to study anways. She watched the sad girl out of the corner of her eye. What was wrong with her? Adults weren't supposed to cry, were they? She thought about approaching Parmida, but decided against it for the moment.
A younger toddler wandered in after Aiko, having followed him into the room. He was new to the whole walking thing, and his missing right arm from the elbow down, made it a bit difficult to stay balanced. His left arm automatically reached out to a nearby couch so that he could steady himself. He giggled happliy seeing other people in the room and waved with his stub as if he wasn't missing his hand.

She opened her eyes at the sound of familar words to find a toddler patting the lower arm that was wrapped around her leg. She managed a wry smile as she softly responded, her voice cracking, "That's what I said to one of my agemates once when I was your age..." Oh, how time flew. Her eyelids drooped some as she remembered what had happened since that one moment. The earthworm leaned out away from her neck, as if it was attempting to peer at the toddler. Her eyes flickered upwards to better see the newest toddler that came in before raising her head slightly as she blinked in astonishment. What... happened... to his... arm?

Well, the girl had stopped her crying. Aiko grinned, then looked over his shoulder to see what Parmida was staring at. Another toddler. Aiko wandered forward to gently touch Luke's right arm where it stopped suddenly. Odd... Aiko touched his own right arm with his left hand, following it on down, past the elbow and to his wrist, gazing at that section of his arm like he'd never seen it before.

Gabriella sighed...it sure was getting crowded in here. At least the other girl wasn't crying any more. She wasn't about to concentrate with all that noise. It was hard enough to read this stuff as it was. She shifted in her chair, dangling her bare feet in front of her and trying to make herself read. Her eyes couldn't help but shift to the new toddler that everyone was staring at. Wide eyed, she blinked a couple of times, and not being the most tactful of children, she spoke up.
"What's the matter with your arm?!?" She didn't really expect the toddler to answer, but she couldn't help vocalizing her thoughts just then.
Luke smiled when Aiko came over, thinking maybe he wanted to play. He touched Aiko's arm, taking his left hand off the couch. Maybe it was a game?
He was caught a little off guard when he heard the girl who had been sitting quietly, suddenly said something very loudly. He didn't really understand what she said, but the momentary distraction caused him to lose his somewhat precarious balance, and fall on his bottom. Blinking, he made a slightly fussy face, but didn't cry. He was used to falling down.

((^^; Why is everyone thinking Parmida was crying? I just said she looked like she was going to, not that she was... sweatdrop ))
Parmida watched as the toddlers unfolded events in front of her and side of her mouth twitched. Oh dear. She wasn't going to have to keep them all out of trouble and calm, was she? Well... Her formal matron did keep trying to get her to do something, anything really. She raised her head up futher to better watch the group in case one of them started to cry or scream. Plus she also wanted to know what happened to the one toddler's arm; she just didn't want to be the one that asked.

Aiko frowned as Luke fell down. Falling down was never fun. It didn't hurt much, but just wasn't fun to fall down all the time. The boy was happy he had moved past that. He didn't fall down anymore. Well, not much anyways.
Aiko knelt down to 'help' Luke up. Or try to anyways.
((Heh... oops? ^^" We... need sleep?))

Luke smiled as Aiko helped him up. He got to his feet and put his left hand on the couch again, steadying himself, before he wandered over to Parmida. She looked nice, and the other girl seemed too loud. He wasn't a big fan of loud people. He let out a toothy grin as he reached the adult and tugged on her dress.
"Up!" he said. It was one of the few words he knew right now.
Gabby eyed the pair of toddlers. Apparently her question had startled the younger one. Oh well. Not like he could answer her anyways. Determined to be anti-social, she opened the book again, though she was really just reading the same sentences over and over again.

Parmida blinked and looked down as the one-armed toddler came over to her and demanded to be picked up. She slowly shifted, unwrapping her arms from around her leg and allowing it to slide back to the ground before she placed a hand under each armpit and lifted the toddler onto her lap. "Up far enough?" She couldn't help asking, arching an eyebrow as she did. The earthworm came up under her chin to peek at yet another new toddler.
