Z'fer and Bronze Calanoth : Damage
- Storm Riders Wingleader -
As Z'fer emptied the last of his bag into Calanoth's mouth a clump of thread caught them both unawares, landing on the tip of the bronze's nose and across Z'fers forearm. Z'fer sucked in a breath to roar in pain but Calanoth had already taken them between, his aborted cry caught in his throat and executed upon reentry.
~ Calanoth are you alright?! ~
It barely touched me. Your arm? ~
Z'fer looked at his own injuries and thanked the first egg for whoever invented riding leathers. The long thick gloves had taken the worst of the damage though now he could see reddened and charred skin beneath. In that small moment the strands had eaten through both glove and coat arm beneath.

That keen. The large bronze voiced it as well. Someone had not made it. S’kor sighed. He had hoped there would be no casualties. Anyone we knew? The respite had been brief, but it had helped.
No Mine. It does not matter. He will be mourned. The moment had passed and Scarath surged forward to meet the second wave. Anyone need more firestone from Gale Stalkers? He checked his wingmates.

S’kor checked their supply of stone. When he looked up, he barely had time to shout. A long tangle of Thread dropped onto his dragon’s head
He roared with pain between his head knobs. It hurt and surprised the large male. The cold frozen it to brittle bits. Scarath shook his head as they came back. I will survive Mine.

Our wing is flaming well, with only minor scoring. The brown informed his rider, his eyes watching for thread. It had let up briefly, giving them a chance to breathe, but not more than that.
There was a clump passing to his left, and he turned, breathing his flame onto it, and burning it up. That would be one less to strike some of the more unaware dragons.

Optheli mourned the loss quietly with her dragon. It hadn’t been them, but she could easily see it happening. No. She mustn’t think that way.
The green flamed well. Maybe she didn’t have the large bursts like the big males did, but someone had to catch all the little pieces. The agile Dynith swooped and turned to catch a couple with her flaming breath. Even little ones were bad. Mine, Scarath asks if we need more firestone.

Optheli glanced at the bags by her feet. Yes they were getting low. Tell him we will need a refill.
Alright… Dynith broke off with a squawk as she nearly flew right into some Thread. A passing dragon seared it just in time.

'Scarath asks if we need more firestone' Cheryth relayed just as Ca'mil checked their dwindling supply 'Yes we only have a few chunks left' Ca'mil told the crimson who passed the message along even as she flamed a bit of passing thread.
While most of it was burned to ash, one small strand managed to escape the flame and caught the crimson along her eyeridge.

Blinking between destroyed the strand, returning in place with a shake of her head 'is it bad?' Ca'mil asked, straining to see the damage 'I can still see, I don't think it's to bad' Cheryth responded, though Ca'mil could feel her pain and gave her a sympathetic pat.

The teen shifted in her seat. She was looking for the weyrling bringing them fresh firestone. Tell Z’fer that we’ll be picking up new firestone here shortly. That wyerling was late! She ground her teeth. How did they expect them to keep up with the fall if they were sharding lolly-gaging?
Her blue crooned softly. I will tell him. Do not worry Mine. They will be here before we need it. As he finished the thought, Kameth spotted the weyrling hovering toward the back. See Mine? To Calanoth, We are getting fresh firestone. It won’t be but a moment. The blue swooped back to meet up with the young dragon. The exchange of empty for full was quickly completed. The pair returned and resumed flaming.

'Very Well Halith' Plexith responded, doing his best to keep his voice calm and confident despite the wounds he was flying with. The second wave of thread was already upon them and the bronze had to twist in the air to avoid the string, arcing his head back to char it from the air before blinking between when he felt a sting on his on one foreleg.

'Just a scratch.' Plexith assured his rider as they returned to the battle 'Halith requires more firestone' He went on with business, ignoring the new score.
'We are growing short as well, tell S'kor to contact the bluerider in charge of things back home..N'tor I believe and have him send along the older weyrlings with our reloads.' D'lin responded.
'Scarath, mine says to have yours send for the Sr. Weyrlings. N'tor is guiding things back home' Plexith relayed.

It was over. No more Thread fell at them. F’law took a moment to breathe a sigh of relief. They had made it, and could now go home. That was not meant to be. The blue’s sudden bugle sounded the call of more Thread coming. He knew it had been too good to be true.
Zurith turned his head toward the bronze. We will need more Tyeth. He turned his head around to his rider. Feed me the rest that is in the bag Mine. More will be brought. The blue commanded.

'Velath look out!' Eliza cried as the dragon flying beside them suddenly jerked sideways to avoid some thread, turning in a fashion that only a green could manage Velath charred the thread the other dragon was trying to avoid even as she avoided a wreak in mid-air, someone was going to get yelled at for not staying in position that was for Sure!
Their maneuver, while necessary unfortunately had it's own consequences and Velath cried out as a string of thread grazed past her neck.

'I'm okay, I'm okay' The green was quick to respond as they returned to their position in the wing. 'Jarwith says she is sorry' She went on. 'well she should be!' Eliza ranted 'She almost killed us!' Seriously..she was going to see about being transferred to a different wing after all of this - there were enough now that she was sure she could find one willing to take her.

S’kor was in the rhythm. Spot, hold on, watch it go up in flame. Check with the bronze and repeat. He was covered in who knew how much sharding ash.
Mine several rider report low on firestone. Plexith says we are to contact N’tor to send the Sr. Weyrling. The bronze flamed a patch of thread ahead of them.
Right. You know what to do.
Scarath rumbled, of course he did. He bespoke N’tor’s dragon. Please send the Sr. Weyrlings with firestone for the Gale Stalkers Wing.
