For good measure the black dog snatched a second before he took off again. This time heading back towards the jungle, where he hoped the portal back was still standing.
"Hang on tight, Mei!" He called back over his shoulder.

Through the chaos, through the wreckage, the body, the crying, screaming, bargaining, ferocity and grim denial, the fervour of those with Fear who just wanted to go home and others who sought only revenge, something shifted with satisfaction.
It absorbed the hatred and chaos, it took in the grief and it for the first time felt alive at the chaos it had created. He had created. The ground quivered, and then burst into a full quake as something wormed its way from where he slept: fragments of crystal, shards larger than any person, any tree, bursting from the earth in clusters.
There was barely any time to panic, everything happened in mere minutes.
Perhaps some students were still in battle, perhaps Hunters were still defending their territory, lamenting, bargaining as others fought on. Perhaps the Horsemen were still tightly wound up in a single word - revenge -
- When the crystals began to split and divide further, bursts of branches continuing to grow, split again, into an impossible web-like network of pure opalescent colour. There was a loud ringing, sharper than anything imaginable, reverberating with the crystal. As everyone paused, as the ground, the sky, the very world around them began to shake and then merge with the crystalline structure -
- Perhaps it would be too late for them to realize that they had all been caught up in someone else's revenge. His revenge.
Bursts of white as they touched the ground, the trees, buildings, weapons and hands, limbs and Fear began to burst into white, flower-like crystal structures. Where one touched, another grew and spread, a foot, a limb, leg, weighed down by pure crystal, numb and heavy, growing and spreading like fragments of ice. They continued to spread, faster and faster now, mere moments turning into seconds as everyone watched in horror, as their bodies became trapped in coffins.
A strange feeling passed by them just as the crystals consumed them whole. Perhaps it was loss, perhaps despair, and perhaps for a select few simple acceptance while others indignation. Seconds later, it didn't matter.
The entire island was covered in crystal, consumed by his insatiable, uncontrollable desire for revenge. OOC: ALL PLAYERS ALL PLAYERSYou see it coming almost painfully slow, the white fragments of crystal that burst from the ground. Some around you are consumed instantly, frozen in the solid structure while others are ripped from your very hands. You try to fight it, outrun it. You are only fooling yourself. FENDING OFF CRYSTALS- The crystal fragments steadily grow outwards, taking up all space. There is nowhere else to go. REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU ARE THIS HAPPENS TO YOU. RESPOND ACCORDINGLY. You are free to interact with anyone in your zone until you are consumed. - If you are in a PVP, this happens IN YOUR PVP. If you are in an open thread, this happens IN YOUR THREAD. Hp is carried over - Roll 1 d100 IN THIS THREAD and match your results to the results below. You continue to roll until you are out of HP, and then are pretty much consumed by the fragments at 10 HP (ALL PLAYERS). If you have less than 10 HP then you are automatically consumed without rolling and can proceed to your DEATH SOLO. At that point you can write your DEATH SOLO, whatever moments of lingering regrets you may have. Just post it in this thread/ pvp thread if you didn't conclude that one, no need to make a new thread. 1- 20: As you shatter a few fragments, you find others growing at your feet. They don't just hurt, they tug at your Fear and for a second you feel everything turn black. You almost fall off the stairs. - 10 HP 21 - 40: You hear a crackling noise - the crystals are growing above you, breaking off and threatening to impale you. You cringe as they hit your Fear shield instead. - 10 HP 41 - 60: The fragments begin to shake as they snake up, wind upwards and grow, and for a second, the white around you seems different. For a second you see something else. A figure perhaps, the noises of battle - anger - you almost lose yourself to this feeling - 10 HP 61 - 80: Ouch! You wince as a fragment cuts you, and then stare at your wound in surprise as your blood begins to crystalize as well into fragments, growing out of your wound. This doesn't look good at all. - 10 HP 81 - 100: You feel tired. Maybe it is just time to give in.... You hear something calling about revenge. So that's what the the voices had meant... - 10 HP

Sherry opened her eyes. “Hell in a hand basket,” she hissed as she came to senses. I know. Alarms, there had been alarms. And monsters. And an explosion. “Damn.” The explosion must have knocked her out. “Damn!” How long had she been out? What had she missed? “Damn!” Armagnac was in her hand. Somehow she had not dropped the weapon. Small favors, she mused. Any response the wyrm might have made was lost as Sherry’s eyes focused on something odd. Not a monster, not the destroyed building, but something else. “What the?” Some kind of crystal was growing out of, everywhere, more or less. Perhaps it was the remnants of someone’s Fear attack? It was odd, but perhaps nothing more than that, odd. She had to figure out what was going on. She had to move. Unsteadily, Sherry rose to her feet. She heard the crunch of the strange crystal substance under her boots. Seemed fragile enough. "I know. Let's go see-" Sherry had not gone two steps when she noticed something. A strange sensation, like something was tugging at her feet. She looked down, and noticed crystals on her boots. She could have sworn they were not there a second ago. Were they...growing? She kicked at one foot with the other. The crystals broke, but Sherry could now feel the pain, and the tugging at her Fear shield. Just what? One hand reached out to the wall for balance. For some reason, she had almost blacked out. And damn. The crystals were growing everywhere. Not just on her boots.

They were definitely growing everywhere. She could see it. “This can’t be good.” Armagnac’s voice was unreadable. Sherry hated that because it usually meant the wyrm was worried and didn’t want to show it. And that usually meant trouble. “We just need to-“ another wave of darkness came. “Just take a moment.” Her eyes wouldn’t focus. It looked like the crystals were shaking. Shaking and moving and things just kept getting blurry. Damn. Sherry lost her balance, and her shoulder hit the wall hard. If she could just focus—The noises came first. Battle. And then the blurry figure. Was the fight here? It sounded so distant though. Dammit! If she could just focus she could get through this. She could join the fight, deal with the monsters and destroy what needed to be destroyed. Anger welled up inside her. Dammit, dammit, dammit! “Dammit!” Sherry’s fist hit the wall, and crystals shattered. Armagnac sounded cautious. The weapon didn’t finish. Sherry didn’t notice. She could hear the sounds of battle. She needed to fight. She wanted to fight. She just had to move. One step. It hurt. Pulled at her Fear shield, pulled at her leg. The crystals were higher now, at least as far as her knee. Sherry barely noticed. Anger burned inside her chest, and she could do nothing about it. Tears stung at her eyes, making things blurry. Or perhaps that was her vision fading? One more step. Her left shoulder leaned against the wall, crushing the crystals that had taken hold on it. Armagnac was clutched tightly in her right hand, being used more as a walking stick than a weapon. “Damn,” it seemed to be the only word the Life trainee could say. She needed to fight, wanted to fight. She could hear the damn battle. She swore she could see someone, even if only in the distance. Armagnac was not sounding well. Almost nervous. Sherry did not notice. She did notice the crystals tugging at her sluggish legs. They were impeding her progress, and making her hurt. It made her angrier. The rest of the damn crystals did, too. Sherry was vaguely aware that they were still growing. She did her best to slam her left fist into the wall that was holding her up. The action did nothing to relieve her anger. It hadn’t been much of an action at all. “********,” she whispered. For a moment, her eyes had focused. There were crystals on her hand now, too. How long had they been there? How long had she been standing here, staring at a blurry whiteness? How long had it been since she had moved her feet? That was a good question, Armagnac. I don’t know why I’m so angry, even as she thought it, a strange calmness fell over the trainee. It hurt. Sherry was aware of the pain now. The blind anger must have masked it in some way. Her entire body hurt, it was clear the crystals had made themselves at home. She could feel the remnants of her Fear shield being crushed or pulled or whatever it was. She heard the sounds of popping crystals as her shoulder slid down the wall just a bit. Sherry pushed on the wall, forcing herself off of it. She still wanted to move, though she knew she would not move far. Her feet were far too heavy. It didn’t look like she was going to figure out what had happened. Nor was she going to attend any battle. Not today. Sorry, Armagnac. She knew the weapon liked to fight. Sherry would not be helping her to do that any longer. Her right arm drew the glaive in close, and Sherry leaned on her weapon for support. Armagnac might have been whispering. I know. Sherry closed her eyes. For once, she preferred the dark. The stark white that was growing around her seemed cruel and dead. She drew in a breath. It was painful and difficult. Her last? In a brief flash, Sherry remembered a dark room. A room filled with warm liquid and walls that were closing in. She had died then, and it had been excruciatingly painful. Physically, emotionally and mentally. But it had not been her final moments, not really. She had died, but she had woken up from that death. It didn’t stop her from dreaming about it, or being terrified of gross, squishy bodies, but it had not been the end. Far from it. It had been a test. A test that somehow, she’d been allowed to pass. They had woken her, brought her back to help with the fight. To be a Hunter. And now here she was, a failure at that. Dying was inevitable. She knew that. There didn’t seem to be many old Hunters. But she had failed here, beyond just dying. She had failed at helping to defend the island. She had failed at learning how to fight properly. She simply had not been enough. Sorry to disappoint you, her head tilted forward, so that her forehead was resting on the pole of her weapon. It was a small comfort for the trainee, knowing that she was not alone. Sherry smiled, in spite of the pain she was feeling. She expected little else from Armagnac. Sherry was alright, but never quite good enough for the weapon. You helped. Thank you. with the thought came another wheezing breath. The crystals encroached further, crawling up her neck from her shoulder. It hurt, but Sherry found herself strangely numb at the same time. Death was odd. I know. It was strange, how fast thoughts could roll through one’s mind. Sherry found herself thinking of several moments when listening to the weapon’s advice would have been helpful. You gave good advice. The twinge of pride was unmistakable. Sherry would have smiled, but her face would not have moved. She wished it would have. She wished she wasn’t dying. She had not become what she had wanted to, she had just not gone far enough. Though it was far too late for regretting. She was not a doll this time. She would not be waking up. Thank you. I know. The thought came with a small, sad smile. And Sherry had nothing else to think about as she stood, leaning against her weapon, frozen in crystal. OOC Sherry IS NOT IN PVP!
