Minori Koroko

The blond girl woke up and was immediately aware of her surroundings. The soft futon she had slept in, the fluffy pillows, the traditional room she was currently in, with everything someone might need. Minori sat up, her green gaze going over the room, landing on the translucent paper door, the sun rays lightening up the room despite the closed doors and windows. Even with the sudden nervousness she felt, the girl couldn't help the small smile curling at the corner of her lips. Flashes of the night before returned to her fondly as she stood up and started folding the futon back to its place. She had been sad...and Genji had stayed with her, cheering her up with soothing words and gentle caresses. He had wanted to show her something... and while she had agreed to it, she hadn't expected exhaustion to wash over her once her thoughts and feelings had settled in. She had been barely able to keep her eyes open once they neared the familiar building... so he took her to the guest room instead. They had talked in low whispers for a bit...the berry haired young man always supportive and caring...and she could remember the chaste kiss to the forehead he had given her before retiring to his own room.

The blond wandered inside the room for a bit, almost as if trying to decide to stay inside the room and wait for Genji there, or go out and look for him herself. This was the first time she was here since...the incident...and she was nervous. She had spent the night in Genji's house. The thought was enough to make her cheeks burn. The girl was getting restless though, and with a nod, she decided to go in search of her boyfriend. She opened the door tentatively, peeking her head outside. The corridor was quiet, and she couldn't see anyone around. Minori slid outside of the guest room, closing in the sliding door behind her, as she tiptoed down the corridor, searching for the familiar cotton candy head. She felt silly, scurrying in this manner; it wasn't as if she was some sort of criminal or deviant, but... she couldn't help the nervousness pooling in her stomach! This was Genji's home! His home... the Amagai Compound with its beautiful gardens and traditional rooms and... oh, she was rambling now.

She reached the courtyard, and she couldn't help the goosebumps appearing on her skin. Memories of that night returned to her like a living nightmare. It felt so surreal now... the place was completely fine, not a single scratch or sign that a battle had occurred there. Not a single sign of...that awful night where Genji had almost died...of the Monster that had terrorized the Investigation Team. That doll that had resembled her...

It was incredible how things could change in so little time. Not only in these walls and floors, but... they had grown as well, hadn't they?

Amagai Hikaru, the Mother of Amagai Genji
"...A mother always knows, Genji. When her son is happy or sad or in love, she always knows..."

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were a thief watching you sneak around like that," from behind the blond a gentle, bemused voice suddenly sounded out in the emptiness of the large home, but it wasn't the deeper tone of her berry-haired boyfriend. It was the voice of a woman, older and even a bit maternal (if you believed one could sound like that), her gentle laughter was a beautiful melody that filled the hall as Minori had the time to register that she had been caught red-handed slipping through the halls in search of Genji. Her eyes were soft and her smile lifted honestly, a smooth couple of steps bringing her close enough for the younger girl to see the silken links of her brown hair beneath the light. She was pale, but healthy...quiet, but happy. She stopped in front of the girl and looked into her eyes for a moment as if examining something beneath the surface and let her smile grow a little wider as she did. The moment of silence was only a second or so, but it must have felt much longer to the newest ward of the Dojima home. And then it was over, the motherly tone filling the hall again to let the girl know that...if she had entertained the notion before...that she was certainly not in trouble. "So...you're the one. Genji tries to hide it when he's talking about his new friends, but he always mentions his Minori-senpai the most often. I can see it in those honest eyes of his. Lying...it doesn't suit him, don't you think?"

Her laughter was gentle and twinkled through the air like the first notes of a gentle lullaby. Her eyes shimmered with life and joy, her hand settling at the girl's shoulder. She was clearly enjoying this moment, such a rare opportunity in the life of a mother, though Minori was likely still just piecing together the clues. So the woman leaned in a little more closely, as if sharing a secret with the girl and whispered.

"A mother always knows, Minori-chan," she winked playfully, and though it was fairly subtle to anyone happening along, the cat was fully out of the bag between the two of them now. This was Genji's mother! And she knew...that this was the girl that her son was with...the one he cared about more than anyone else. Her fingers touched the girl's cheek just once after that and her eyes raised faintly, almost as if anticipating some kind of a reaction from the girl...and smiling brightly when it came. She watched the girl's green eyes and looked her over one last time before nodding faintly, but certainly. "You pass," she beamed mischievously, gentle in spite of her playful tone, "But if you're looking for Genji you should have checked the nightstand. He left you a note, you know..."

The girl jumped on her place when a voice spoke behind her, her body turning to meet with a woman with soft eyes and softer smile, sounding amused by her sneaking around. Minori immediately blushed at the jest, a little sheepish laugh escaping her lips. "I am so sorry. I am a bit lost. I was just..." She trailed off when the woman walked closer, and just looked at her, almost as if examining her...as if looking right into her soul. The blond girl kept silent for what it seemed minutes, only to tilt her head when the older woman started speaking again. She mentioned Genji, and the gears inside Minori's head started running. This woman... she was obviously close to Genji, the way she talked of him so fondly, and the way she seemed to know so much of him. The blond couldn't help the happy flip her stomach made when she found out Genji talked about her at home, a faint, silly smile curling on her lips. But also, the rosy color on her cheeks couldn't be helped. There was something about this woman... it was almost as if she was...

And when she whispered on her ear, green eyes went wide, looking at the woman in front of her with surprise. G-Genji's mom! This was Genji's mom! And she had found her sneaking around her house! Gosh... how embarrassing! And she knew she was...Genji's...girlfriend...and that she had passed the night in there? Oh. "A-Amagai-san! It's so very nice to meet you." The girl bowed and stood up again as the lady of the house brushed her fingers over her cheek faintly. She was so warm and nice... and Minori couldn't help the nervousness inside of her. She hadn't been expecting to meet Genji's mother this soon. It was a dumb thought. She was in his house after all, his parents were bound to appear sooner or later. But... the blond had believed she'd be more prepared for when the time came... and specially...she had been expecting her berry haired boyfriend standing beside her when it happened. Genji had talked a little about her before, but... she hadn't expected her to be so... gentle.

And playful too, she found out, as Mrs. Amagai smiled and nodded to herself, telling her she had passed. Pass? Pass what? Wait. Her cheeks glowed a bright red then, though there was a pleased smile on her lips at that, her green eyes turning to Genji's mother, gleaming happily. She liked her. She had Genji's mom approval! T-that was something, right?

Emerald orbs returned to the woman when she mentioned Genji, a sheepish smile appearing on her lips at her slip. "The nightstand? A ... note? Ooh, I didn't even notice." The girl giggled sheepishly, though the tension was slowly disappearing. She turned back to the hallway where she had come from, before turning back to Mrs. Amagai. "I should...go and check that. Thank you so much, Amagai san. it was very nice to meet you!"

Amagai Hikaru, the Mother of Amagai Genji
"...A mother always knows, Genji. When her son is happy or sad or in love, she always knows..."

Watching the girl's flustered response to the surprise encounter was enough to make the older woman giggle in spite of herself, her hand covering her lips a moment so that the girl wouldn't think she was laughing at her. But her warm nature made it impossible to think that she was anything but welcoming and kind in spite of that. Minori's rushed greeting was stiff and sweet, and it made her smile in response. There were snake-oil saleswomen in the world, some of whom had already been put forth by their families to make an arranged match with her son, who would have slithered through that response with a 50-watt smile and a scheme in their eyes that Hikaru could see right through. She understood better than most the type of prize that her son was, and that wasn't just because she was his mother...it was because she had been in that position before in the past, herself. Genji was an heir to money, an heir to a traditionally strong Family, and though they were on the precipice of rising once more or falling into a long decay, there was value in their name and their estate that other families wanted to be a part of. Marriage was the quickest way to that. And so this wasn't the first young woman who had met her, but she was the first in whose eyes Genji's mother could see something other than gears turning...she could see affection, concern, worry. These were the eyes of someone who cared deeply.

Her son had excellent taste. The thought made her beam all the brighter as Hikaru Amagai already had fun thoughts bouncing around her head of embarrassing baby pictures and mother-daughter shopping dates. She couldn't help it, really...it felt almost as though she had woken up and out of nowhere, her son had become a man and reached a point in both their lives that she had always dreamed of seeing. But of course, she had to be patient for that. Wouldn't want to scare the girl, after all. Just tease her...a bit. And tease her son a lot.

"It was lovely meeting you, Minori-chan. I'd love to speak to you again very soon," the woman smiled as she watched the blonde go, smirking to herself as she remembered just what Genji liked to do out at the waterfall in the back of the estate...and imagining how the girl was likely to react to it. She could have warned Minori, of course...but it was far more fun to imagine her discovering it herself. The Amagai Estate was home to many secrets...

"I like her. I hope she sticks around a while..."

The girl gave a little wave to the lady of the house as she walked back to the guest room she had been staying in, her eyes searching for the note in the nightstand. And sure enough, there it was. The blond picked it up carefully, smiling softly at the handwriting. She read it, and tilted her head curiously.

'Take the stone path out to the trees and continue until you hear water. I'll be there.'

The girl smiled again, feeling giddy at the thought of a surprise...if it included meeting Genji this early in the morning...all the better. The blond girl walked out of the room again, and observed her surroundings, in search of the stone path. "Oh! There it is!" She found herself exclaiming, skipping over the road, clasping her hands behind her back. She hummed lightly, her spirits high after that encounter with Genji's mom. The woman had been very nice to her, and she found herself wanting to talk with her again sometime. Like she could trust her, she could just be herself...

The girl looked up when she heard the sound of rushing water...and she knew she was getting closer. "Genji?" Min called out, following the sound, getting closer to the source.

Vulcano Rosso, and The Cosmic Wasteland Eruption SquadUser Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

"FOOLISH GIRL! You thought that you were about to find your precious Genji, but it was actually me! Vulcano Rosso!" As if to the sound of some extremely blunt soundtrack, a voice cut through Minori's thoughts, peaking her curiosity even as it irked her patience! With a glorious flip a figure jumped into view ahead of Minori on the stone path, and landed on the highest point in her field of view...of course, that was where the man in charge should be! Emulating every Power Rangers villain ever, Vulcano Rosso smirked as he stuck the landing on his totally unnecessary front flip, his minions landing on either side of him moments later to form a whole squad, or one might say...an Eruption Squad? Ha ha! Namesakes. "You and your friends may have embarrassed us last time, but now we know your weakness! And your name, miss..." A pause as he unfolded a notepad, flipping through it's pages. How many grudges did he have? "...Minori Koroko! Ha ha! For someone of my exceptional intellect, it didn't take long after finding that out, to figure out you'd be at your boyfriend's little home-away-from-home. And now, you and Mr. Amagai had best be prepared for the worst!" But...this wasn't his home-away-from-home. It was his home!

With a flourish all of the Eruption Squad members moved, front flipping forward one at a time from the outside most ones in, crossing each other's paths as they closed in and circled the girl. This stuff was really well choreographed for something so impractical in an actual fight with any stakes. Finally Vulcano Rosso moved, turning and doing a backflip towards Minori into a cartwheel, using his spinny, jumpy, completely unnecessary momentum to close in before finally coming near enough to jump in the air and spin, going into a somewhat unexpected (but seriously, you could see this from miles away) roundhouse. "Eruuuupttiooon Kiiiiiccckkk!" That was it! The signature move of the Eruption Squad's glorious leader, said to have been used in over one hundred fights to this day, whose legend was as long as the wind-up needed in order to throw it in the first place! The Eruption Kick, the ultimate technique crafted with the time and patience of the miraculously stubborn leader of the Cosmic Wasteland Eruption Squad...Vulcano Rosso!

Sith Lord Darth Gator, The Light-Saber Wielding Sewer Gator
"...If only you knew the power of the Dark Side...of the sewer..."

No sooner had the wildly ineffectual and flamboyant Eruption Squad made their appearance upon the private property of the Amagai Clan near the hidden spot where their Heir was waiting, than a sudden dread filled the air...pure malice tinged with hatred. It was as though the very air around the Eruption Squad and the life Force within their bodies suddenly were cold and oppressed by an even greater entity. Vulcano Rosso, oblivious as he was, still made an attempt to attack the unsuspecting girl, but even as his totally-telegraphed kick began to extend towards its destination a black shadow holding a crimson light flew across the path in a flash and jerked his body along with it...the sounds of distant, vicious mauling and helpless cries filling the air for but a moment before the telltale 'whoosh-whoosh-womp' of the shadow's signature weapon silenced the screams for good. And a moment later the shadow passed again, dragging the rest of his followers away in the opposite direction...a similar result as before. It was all so fast, silenced so quickly, one could almost convince themselves that it had never happened at all...

Only one man would knew the truth of the incident, in the end. One man, a world away...who could feel that his one true nemesis had returned to this world. A disturbance in the Force, if you will...

...And Minori was again left to search for Genji amid the trees and the peaceful sounds of running water.

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist
"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more...I see your intentions and fears. I see what you truly are..."

With the chaos of that random encounter passed, the soft and nearby sounds of gently crashing water sounded through the trees reached the girl's ears. At the edge of the trees they began to grow more sparse, opening out into a beautifully green clearing with a crisp, clear stream of flowing water racing by unconcerned about the newest intrusion as it was about every other. This place was almost idyllic, taken out of time itself and put here to be preserved, which wasn't entirely untrue...though it hadn't been placed here by anyone but the gods themselves, it had been preserved throughout the generations by one family. And that family had long used this clearing, the large patch of flat, green grass beside the water to practice their arts...and the waters themselves served purpose to that end. To wash, to purify, and for one other thing...the green eyes of the blonde would soon enough trail up the stream to where the crashing water sounded the loudest, a small, fifteen-foot falls pouring from a raised section of the Earth down into the stream in a gorgeous white foam. But at the center of the falls the water parted, crashing over something that stood between, something pale and moving. Its limbs swept smoothly from one stance to another, soft, cotton-candy locks sticking beautifully to slick skin.

He whirled beneath the water atop a small, raised rock that kept the water just beneath his feet so long as he did not move more than an extra foot or two in any direction. The young man looked as though he lived there, with almost no obstruction despite the water; he had been training in this place all of his life. Basking in the tranquility, focusing on his center, and remembering the true purpose and soul of his Gentle Fist whenever the troubles of the world threatened to lead him astray. And here he was now, the young heir of the Amagai, reminding himself of all the reasons that he fought and all of the reasons that it was okay to fight...the reasons for how he fought not the least of all. His gray eyes were closed until he smoothly twisted and spun in a thrust of his hand out from beneath the falls, the unfocused concentration at last falling upon the girl over his shoulder so that she could see him there. Taut, white skin over a body toned by years of martial arts training...not an excess ounce of fat or unnecessary bulk of muscle that would not suit his style. His wide shoulders and back turned away from her; he faced her now, his chest and abdomen still scarred from the attack on that night not so very long ago not far from here...but there was no embarrassment or tension in his eyes when he saw her then, no memory of that night. Instead, there was a moment of gentle recognition and a smile as his eyes flashed and he stepped out from beneath the water, dancing a path of stones from the falls to the shore where he landed in the grass smooth as a dancer. His body was still dripping when he reached the small stone near the path she had walked where his clothes and a towel awaited him. His gray pants were faintly wet but surprisingly not soaked through...only sticking here and there where her eyes might wander.

Towel in-hand, he brushed away some of the excess droplets from his eyes and chest and draped it over his shoulder, deciding to wait just another few moments for his body to dry before he would pull the shirt on again. In the meantime, it seemed that Minori had gotten his note.

"Minori-senpai! I am happy that you found my message," he moved to her side and gently took her hand for a moment, catching her eyes before directing them both towards the little oasis, "This is it...my place, for lack of a better term. I wanted to share it with you. Do you like it?"

That had been strange. So strange, the girl wanted to think she had imagined it all. Now, she pushed it out of her mind, as green eyes returned to the stone path in front of her, the green grass, the soft wind playing with her hair. It really was a nice morning...and this was really a very nice place. Inaba was a small town, so there wasn't much noise to begin with, but in here the sounds of nature could be heard with much more clarity: the mumbling of a stream nearby, the chirping of the birds. It was...nice. So very nice.

Minori took in a deep breath, letting out a contented sigh as she followed the sound of the water, reaching a clearing. It was beautiful. Her gaze landed on the waterfall, a smile growing on her lips at the sight of the natural wonder...and the sight of the young man practicing under the crushing water. It caught her unawares, and she couldn't help herself from staring at the practiced movements...the precision of his stance...the beauty of it all.

"Wow." She was starstruck...partially by the little piece of heaven the Amagai had in here...and partially because of...well... the heir of the Amagai. She had seen him fighting before, and he always fought with an elegance that no one else had...but this was different. He was in his element...and he looked so...so...

His gaze met hers, and the girl blushed a bright red, caught staring. Still, his smile helped her calm her wild thoughts...or well...most of them, at least. Her cheeks were still a rosy color when he moved to her side, and she was slightly fidgety, her mind fighting not to let her eyes trail down to take a closer look at his bare chest. Still, she managed a smile, albeit sheepish, her fingers brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear out of nervousness. "Mmhm! Well, actually... your mom helped with that." Her heart fluttered when he took her hand, her fingers unconsciously tightening the grasp...her gaze turning from him back to the clearing. "It's beautiful, Genji. Do you spend a lot of time in here? I know I'd love reading a book or just spending time in here. Under a tree or...or near the waterfall."

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist
"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more...I see your intentions and fears. I see what you truly are..."

He loved this place. Ever since his grandfather had first brought him out to the clearing and let him play among the trees, swim in the deeper parts of the stream, and taught him the very first strokes of the kata that he would go on to practice for his entire childhood until this day, he had loved every single thing about this clearing. He loved the green, the blue, the flora and the fauna, and he loved the quiet, natural sounds that filled the air whenever he was out here. He loved the rushing water of the stream and the crashing of the waterfall down below, and he loved that when he was here he couldn't hear the first sounds of a radio or a car, he couldn't hear the shouts of the children of Inaba or the bickering of the adults or the barking and bartering of the shopkeepers. This place, it reminded him of a time before any of those things must have existed, and it reminded him of a world that was almost entirely green, without the greys and blacks and browns of civilization that mankind had built up over the course of the last century. He imagined, and indeed, his grandfather had told him stories of his ancestors during the days of the samurai, who would stand where he had just stood and practice the way of the sword and their own ancient Gentle Fist, an art that had somehow made its way through the ages all the way down to him. He carried on their legacy by being here, practicing here, and in a strange way, they lived on him...in this place. It was almost as though he could feel their spirits and their pride surrounding him when he stood beneath those falls, see their faces in his dreams when he'd drift off peacefully in the grass. And ever since his grandfather died, he had never felt closer to the man than when he stood out here. Yes, he loved this place. Just as over the last few months, he realized he was coming to fall in love with...

"Minori-senpai, you...spoke with my mom?" ah, the adolescent fear of a mom's embarrassing stories and picture books from when a young man was just a boy or a babe...he almost dared to ask what horrors she had endured on his behalf, but resisted for the moment. He loved his mom, truly he did. But like most mothers, she could gush over...well, the night before when he had told her about his senpai staying the night and been forced to confess that said senpai was, inf act, a girl...the gushing had been almost unbearable. He hoped Minori hadn't had to face that alone this morning. Or at all. For his own sake as much as hers. "Oh, yes. I am glad that you found your way. I wanted to show you this place last night, beneath the stars and the dark sky, but I think that it is just as beautiful in the daylight as well. This is my place, a place that my family has practiced the Gentle Fist and visited to find their inner peace for more generations than we can count on record. For as long as the Amagai Clan has lived in this town, in this area, this has been a part of our history." His voice was so full of reverence and life when he spoke, and his hand held onto hers all the tighter, but gentle all the same. He gently drew her near to him, not yet quite aware of his own lack of a shirt and her reaction to it, though his cheeks did pinken a little at the feeling of her next to him. It did not, however, dampen his spoken love of his home, his family, or this place in particular.

"I love this place, Minori-senpai. It is here, more than anywhere else in the world, that I feel at peace. I can rest, I can train, and I can think without any of the interruptions and oddities that the world can throw at me. And for the members of my family, and myself, it is somewhere that we only show to the people who are closest to our heart," the berry-haired heir smiled faintly, glancing over at the blonde and finally, beginning to realize how deeply he was going into this, how close the two of them were, how shirtless he was, and just how pink the girl's cheeks were becoming in their proximity. His own cheeks flared a bright color, but he had already gone so far down this line of speech that he knew he couldn't just back out of it now. And he didn't want to, really. He just...yeah, wow, it was hot for a September morning, wasn't it? His smile betrayed a small, almost uncomfortably nervous laugh, but it didn't quiet. He lifted her hand gently and turned to face her, hoping that the gravity wouldn't put too much pressure on her.

"I want to share this place with you, Minori-senpai. To read, to relax, to forget all of the dangers of Babel and the Shadows for a little while and find your inner peace. I would like this to be our place...because there is no one closer to my heart right now than you are."

"Yeah, she kinda found me sneaking around the house. I-I was looking for you, and she saw me." the blond grinned sheepishly, "She is really nice. She said you talk about me sometimes." her cheeks turned a light pink, but a playful smile remained, squeezing his hand. "What did you tell her?" she could tease him just a little...if only to distract herself from the closeness and shirtlessness and...just how...handsome he looked with his wet hair, and nice smile and...those eyes. He looks so nice when he talked about this place. He loved this place, that much she can see... it was special to him. This was the place that the family used to practice their Gentle Fist...a place of meditation...a secret place only for the Amagai. His place.

"Genji..." His name came out as a whisper, her cheeks glowing, her eyes on his. She didn't want to move away, though. Here he was, telling her he wanted this piece of paradise to be their place... that she was close to his heart. Her own heart felt like it was fluttering out of her chest...He laughed nervously, and she smiled, feeling a little better that it wasn't just her who was feeling like this. "I..." she gulped down, again trying to calm her racing heart. "I..." she tried again...but words died down in her throat. Right now... all she wanted to do was...

Her lips pressed to his softly, her arms sliding around his neck to pull him closer...perhaps with a bit more force than she had intended, the inertia pushing her forward, making her lose her footing, pushing them both to the ground. A small squeak escaped her lips, pushing herself off the berry haired heir, her face the color of his locks. Instead of apologizing though, the girl giggled, and hugged him even tighter. "Genji. This is so sweet. You are so sweet. And this means so much. You are the one closest to my heart. You are...so important... to me."

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist
"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more...I see your intentions and fears. I see what you truly are..."

He hadn't realized how tense his muscles had become, or how long he had been holding his breath when the girl slowly fumbled with finding the right words to answer what he had proposed to her. It wasn't as though he was unaware of how important Minori's feelings and reactions had become to him...he wouldn't have showed her this place if he didn't care about her so deeply...but the way that her little pauses made his own breathing hitch and his temperature flare or dive was something that he hadn't been prepared for by any of the movies or books or stories about love that he had ever heard before. She captivated him, her green eyes dancing with affection and warmth and confusion all at once, and when her lips curled differing expressions he wondered at every little detail and what they really meant. But as much as any of those he loved the way that her blonde hair bounced and reflected the light that peeked through the foliage into the clearing and made her shimmer to his eyes, the sight so distracting even from the enchanting melody of her expressions that he had to physically resist the urge to reach out and brush lithe fingers through the soft strands that bewitched him. Even that wasn't enough to fully distract him, though, as the tense moment of waiting for her to respond filled him with this feeling of walking right up to the edge of a cliff and leaning over the edge...waiting, feeling the ground beneath your feet shift and then...

"Sen...senpai?!"

His surprise caught his voice in his throat as she pounced on him a little more forcefully than intended and tipped the both of them slowly over...but that feeling of tipping from her kiss left him more stunned and weightless than even the sensation of actually falling as they tumbled into the grass and landed together in this tangled lump of fuzzy feelings there beneath the leaves of the grove. In the distance the sounds of the rushing water and nature itself were muffled by the blood pumping in his ears, reddening the skin there and everywhere else nearby from its normal pale hue...and his hands wrapped themselves around her on instinct, keeping her tight even as she squeaked from surprise at herself and nearly pulled away instead. He was too filled with that feeling of joy right now, of happiness intruding upon the unending darkness of their days in this town...he was loathe to let it end, to come down from this Minori-induced high that set his very fingertips and toes aflame with life and fire and pleasantly fluffy feelings. Her laughter was like a melody in his ears and it was now that he caught his breath that he decided, post-fact, that he had made the right choice in bringing her here. That this moment of pure, unbridled wonder and the wonderful smiles on her lips that replaced her deep sorrow from the night before had been more than worth it...that there was nothing to regret in revealing their family's secret to this girl because to him, she was quickly becoming just that...and more. His fingers finally found a place at the back of her head as he held her close and brushed those blonde locks carefully. He was blushing and shirtless and his pants were probably wet and dirty and he really didn't care right now. This...this was everything.

"Minori-senpai..." Genji's lips curled faintly as he held her there a moment longer...until that one thing, just that one niggling thought in the back of his mind threatened to betray the sanctity of the moment until he couldn't help but give voice to the damnable dread and curiosity, "...My mother did not really tell you that, did she? It was not as though I said anything in particular about you; I might have mentioned the whole team, our friends, a few times and..." A realization dawned slightly in his eyes as his lips curled into a wry, if self-bemusing smile. "...And if my stories perhaps were a little 'Minori-senpai'-heavy, then...I suppose I should choose my words more carefully in the future when speaking with particularly meddlesome mothers, should I not?"

She was conscious of everything surrounding them. The smell of the grass beneath them...the sound of the waterfall...the crunch of the leaves as they move... the warmth of his skin...his scent...his lips against hers...her own body pressed to his bare chest...the blood rushing to her face...the way he was looking at her. He was just as flushed as she was, and the color on his cheeks made her chuckle despite herself. Perhaps to release some of the tension that was growing on the pit of her stomach. Her eyes were on his clear ones... so soft, so honest. His mother had mentioned it...and she had to agree. His eyes...were so transparent. She could see how he felt about her... and that made her knees weak. Not that it would matter...considering they were already on the ground, her hand resting on his shoulder and another on the soft ground beneath him to keep her balance. She felt his arms sliding around her, pulling her closer to him on the embrace, and she couldn't help the color deepening on her cheeks, her head nuzzling at the curve of his neck.

This was...so nice. And at the same time so... exhilarating. Her heart was beating so hard against her chest. She felt fidgety. She felt happy, but nervous at the same time. It was as if her mind was disconnecting for a moment, leaving her emotions and body to take control. For a moment she felt time stopping, her laughter dying down into a soft hum, her fingers idly brushing away stray strands of cotton candy colored hair from his face. He spoke up her name, and her stomach did a flip. He had that effect on her...and she would have been completely lost on his voice, if it hadn't been for the question and the tone he was using. "Hm?" she pulled back slightly, eyes once again returning to him with an amused expression. "Well, she said many things. And...I don't mind if you talk a bit more about me. It...makes me happy. T-that you are thinking about me." And perhaps it was that, after the first rush of adrenaline and happiness and just sheer love she felt when he had told her about this place and how he felt about her...that her mind started clearing, making her notice that he was still so close...and so very half naked...and she was laying on top of him. Half naked.

It was surprising her face could turn even redder. In an instant, she was pulling back, rolling off of him as she stammered incoherent apologies about straddling him, or touching his naked chest, or just being this awkward after all that before. She didn't make much sense, really... and instead she decided to focus her attention on the waterfall behind them. Quick! Change the topic of conversation! Quick...um... "S-s-so! I...I was thinking...this place would be wonderful for a picnic! D-don't you think, Genji kun?"

Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist
"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more...I see your intentions and fears. I see what you truly are..."

Everything was nice...the weather, the beautiful scenery, the warmth of his Senpai snuggled up close against his chest as they lay there on the ground...but even he couldn't help but notice how close she was against his bare chest as they lay there, his cheeks seemingly a permanently-tinged reddish-pink as he let himself be lost in those moments to the pleasantness of it all. No matter how many potential matches his father tried to make him sit down and talk with, there was no girl who made him feel the way that Minori could. And when she finally realized her predicament and scrambled off of his body and stammered out a sudden change in subject, brushing off her clothes and trying to look anywhere by the contours of his toned body, he again felt something warm and altogether lovely bubbling up inside of his chest. Laughter. It began as a slow, melodic hum that he tried to contain inside of himself, but before he knew it the feeling was taking over him, escaping his lips in what must have been the most carefree laugh he had allowed himself to do in longer than he could remember. His gray eyes creased at the edges and his lips curled into a laughing smile, long finger moving to the corner of his eye to wipe away a stray tear.

"You're so cute, Minori-senpai," he finally got out as his laughter began to calm, informal and very unlike him to be so to the point, but that was just the way that she had made him feel...something that he needed to say, even if (especially if) it got another adorable and indignant puff of the cheeks out of the beautiful blonde, "But you are right. I would love to spend the afternoon here with you, if there is nothing else that you need to do today. I could go back to the house and collect a blanket and some food...or you could come with me, so long as you promise not to engage in anymore conspiracies with my mother to embarrass me." Despite his last words, the smirk his handsome lips curled into let her know that he was still quite enjoying himself. Slowly making his way to his feet, he extended a hand to her and caught her emerald eyes with his own. This was so fun, just being young and freely laughing together. This was the sort of thing that he might never have enjoyed if he had simply continued his life as it had been before that night not so very long ago...if he hadn't expanded his horizons and learned of all the wonders that this town had to offer. And yet even in this town of wonders, there was always one who stood out above all the others...

"Minori-senpai...shall we?"
