Woot!, i've ginally seen the show and now i know what you guys are talking about,WTF Bruno? did you guys see his "Middle Aged Rap" or whatever he called that overopinionated, bigot-a**, piece of crap. I mean it was like he was trying to provoke the black family but it was to no avail because they had obviously grown up dealing with assholes like him, the only people he seemed to hurt and embarass was his own family, and thats just sad.
And I like Rose also it seems like shes the only one that gets it sometimes, and im glad Nick finally told them that he wasnt really comfortable with them saying "*****" and i laughed when his dad said if they said it around the wron g people they would get the beating of a lifetime

Middle aged rap....Such garbage. And I agree with you on rose, I'm glad someone sees that you cant act black. Its great to see other races understanding that. That was my first episode btw.

The_Answer_to_Love Passion_Dragon The_Answer_to_Love I think Bruno should go into a neighborhood similar to his hometown as his black character to see how people react to him. Why does he only choose to be around blacks when he's in makeup? Does he think being black is like a secret society? [Bruno's wife seems to be the one who thinks being black is a secret society. xd
I kind of wish the black family was getting something out of this...So far it seems as though the only thing they get is the opportunity to reaffirm all the stereotypes about white people they had when they began.
But I guess that's what sucks about the whole thing. The white family gets to learn that it can be tough and different and interesting being black while the black family gets to learn that, well... racism still exists, etc. I mean, what has the black family really gotten out of this so far? Besides their feelings hurt by finding some of the ugly truths about how they are viewed by some white people...? confused ] True...the black family didn't even need to sign up for the show and waste their time to see that blacks are still being treated with racism today. They knew that before they agreed to do the show. I think only Rose and Carmen are learning about the other side. They seem to be the only two who put themselves in situations where they will actually see and feel what blacks see and feel everyday. I don't even want to get on Bruno because that will mess up my day. Did you hear what he said when he was talking to the musician? He wanted to know what secret sucessful blacks had in order to overcome setreotypes and gain success. SECRET? WTF? Why does there have to be some hidden trick used? Blacks can't just have common sence and the same abilities as anyone else to gain success in life? Damn I had to go there...now I let his stupidity piss me off again. xd

I just saw the most recent episode.
From what I saw, I'm glad Renee met someone who was the opposite of the stereotypes she had, because she seemed to be someone who was just disappointed with people in general.
Carmen in the hair salon was a bit......naive.

OMG I thought I was going to have a stroke watching Bruno talk about reparations. "GET A JOB"??? Who the hell does this man think he is? Does he assume that most blacks are unemployed? I can't believe he asked the other father if he could imagine if blacks were given that much money. Did he say it would be chaos? Bruno makes me so sick and mad that people still feel this way deep down inside.
OK let me take a deep breath and calm down. Im glad Renee found a friend and got to know someone like the others have. I think she should lighten up on Carmen and try to forgive her. At least she's trying, unlike her pompous husband. Here I go again. Im going to bed.

Bruno is such an embarrassment. Not only to his own family and race; but to most people in general. How can he be so stupid and reluctant to open his eyes and try to see things in a different light? I get so mad watching the show because I know he's going to do something idiotic AGAIN.
Although I hate watching Bruno, I would absolutely watch the show if there were to be a second season, obviously with new families. I hope there is.

At least she's trying, unlike her pompous husband. Here I go again. Im going to bed. ok, i finally saw it! bruno is so stupid. i can't believe he said 'get a job'. like all the blacks in the US are unemployed, standing around waiting for their 40 acres. that made me so angry... i like rose, she seems to have some sense and a grasp on what the show is supposed to be about. and i'm glad renee found a hobby and someone that she could have fun with. honestly tho, i dunno why her new friend was shocked that she wasn't white, cos that make-up does not make renee look white. she looks biracial or maybe latino, but not white.
and what was up with carmen in the salon??? ok, the artists gave you an afro; why wouldn't you touch it and get an idea of what black hair feels like? don't ask to touch someone else's. white girls don't go around petting each other... damn....

Dark_Lady_Jade I just saw the most recent episode. From what I saw, I'm glad Renee met someone who was the opposite of the stereotypes she had, because she seemed to be someone who was just disappointed with people in general. [The last white woman, (the scrap-booking one?), seemed very down-to-earth and open-minded. I'm glad Renee was able to become friends with her...even though when she finally revealed that she was black, the lady seemed a little upset, like she had been deceived (which, really, she had).
myspace has the same topics, so here's what I posted there:] Quote: I didn't think Bruno was all that bad at first either. He is right in a way: you sometimes get back what you project. If you project a calm, trustworthy, open-minded attitude, then that may be what comes back to you from other people. But he does seem to dismiss the black father's experiences with racism. The guy has no reason to exaggerate or lie; if he says he experienced it, then odds are, he did; why Bruno keeps trying to act like he DIDN'T is just stupid as hell. I agree that the white daughter (terrible with names) is the best, most likable character on the show. She's intelligent and able to think outside the box. The black mother is silly sometimes...she was going around trying to find white "friends" because she couldn't click with the white mother, and as she's going to knitting groups and bible study and scrapbooking, she's saying something to the tune of, "This is it. This is what white people do." And she made it sound so boring. I laughed my a** off. Like black people don't do those things; this is the 21st century, heifer! And rather than thinking the activities (which she chose herself, right?) seem boring, she could have gone to yoga, pilates or something more exciting. She could have gone horseback riding, golfing or spelunking for crying out loud...! LOL That would have been 10x more entertaining, too.

lunamoon999 honestly tho, i dunno why her new friend was shocked that she wasn't white, cos that make-up does not make renee look white. she looks biracial or maybe latino, but not white. [ 3nodding I agree. I think it's mainly her lips.
...I won't even get started on the "reparations" thing. mad
...Maybe I will. xd
I don't much care for the idea of reparations, and I don't think the black father (Bryan, is it??) explained it in a way where Bruno might understand the concept rather than dismissing it. But, like everything Bruno talks about, he already had his own ideas of what reparations are, so it wouldn't have mattered if the black father had given him an exact definition or not. neutral
Despite how it sounded, I agree with Bruno on one thing about reparations: Those black people who ARE sitting around waiting for their "40 acres" DO need to get a job.
Reparations are a kind idea, but I think in this day and age, they are too little and too late. It's time now more than ever for black people to make their own futures. The past isn't holding us back. If you have to work harder than white people, then do it. What harm is it going to cause you?? wink
In this day and age, any one who works for a living, regardless of ethnicity, could use a little extra help. Afterall, as long as you work for a living, you can only survive on what you make (whether you make $15k or $75k per year). Additonally, black people weren't the only enslaved people.
I feel like going into immigration now and the future of the US...but I won't. xd ]
