Private Journal Entry 012
September 14th, 2006

Diary;

GOOD LORD CHILDREN ARE FULL OF HASSLES. If I knew it was this bad, I would've hid mysef under a rock until they went away. Sonuva Goblin they're a pain in my a**. But apparently I love them anyway. So, what's new in Neveah's life?

Well, for one, Zah grew. He's bigger now and...toddling about. I guess that makes him a toddler now! Ha, I'm such a punny person. ANYWAY. I thought he was trouble before and I was wrong. He's trouble now. If he's not waddling around and running into things, He's waddling around, running into things, then crying about it. Or he'll just...stare at me until either he loses what little balance he has and falls over or I get frustrated and anxious and I turn him towards some toys or something.

Yesterday I found out what Zah would've looked like as a purple-eyed albino. Yeah, he found the sugar, Or rather, he found out how to get in the sugar. Of course, he proceeded to dump it all over himself. Yeah, that was NOT fun. But he helped me clean it up afterwords. Have you seen a toddler, covered in sugar, scrunched down holding a dustpan and trying not to sneeze? ITS HILARIOUS. I even took a picture! I can't find my camera, though.

And another thing. Zah doesn't speak english. That on its own is normal since he's still grasping his vocal cords...but I mean he doesn't even remotely speak english. Its...some weird other language that he must've known in his past life. He keeps calling me 'Ilhar' or something. Maybe that means Mom? It could very well mean "Sucker" or "Fool" or "Butterfly" or even "b***h!" but...I'm pretty sure it means Mother. I seriously hope he learns English soon. Seriously.

Hn, what else...

Oh yes.

Twins.

I have twins. Not twin butterfly humanoids. Not twin buterflies, not even twin humans. They're deer. Twin <********> deer. First, I have to take care of a Drow with their crazy spider affiliation...and now its deer. Twin deer. Twin deer from Hell. Cute twin deer, but helldeer nonetheless.

One I named Prince. He's a spotted brat with big brown eyes and a whore for attention. I love him for that, but its annoying...because he cries when he doesn't get attention. The other I named Duke as kind of a joke...but it actually stuck. Duke is an albino deer, so he's all white with pinkish red eyes. He's not an attention whore though. He's a Momma's boy. He loves to just be around me, and he always turns and reaches for ONLY me when he's scared or something...which is often.

By the way, I caught Prince trying to take a facedive off of the edge of the couch. He was LAUGHING. The brat thought it was funny to try and fall. Seriously! Deer-like caution missed this one by a few THOUSAND feet I swear. Duke just stayed curled up in the crook of the couch's arm, though. I seriously hope nobody sits on him. He's so QUIET.

Zah's taking to the twins well...but I think he's confused or something. I read once about Drow having only a limited amount of male children in the family so...maybe having three boys is unheard of? If so, I seriously hope he doesn't hurt either of them...I doubt he will since I, as his Matron, have done nothing about it...but still. If its one thing history DEMANDS, its that you never trust a Drow left to its own devices, especially a female one. But Zah is male, so I probably have nothing to worry about.

Anyway, my hand is getting cramped. I'll write later~

-Neveah

P.s. That weekend I had away from Zah was AWESOME. Its a pity I still had the twins though, woe. I could've been nice and alone! But at least two is easier to deal with than three. No wonder Drow had limits on Male children.

Zah's Slingshot
Oh, crap.

Zasalamel, with his newly found strength to walk and his newly discovered lack of balance, was scouting the house for fun. Things looked less intimidating when you could walk! Burbling what may or may not have been an adventuring song, the little Drow coasted across the side of the couch, using it for the balance he pretended he didn't need. A trip around the living room proved to be fruitless; he already knew where his toys were, this trip was stupid!

So, with wobbling legs and a slight sway to his step, Zah toddled out of the living room with his arms stretched out for balance. Now, to the kitchen and dining room! Or to him, "that room with all the shinies that produces stuff for me to eat". Something of interest HAD to be there! Wobbling into the room, he latched onto a chair (for convenience's sake, honest!) and looked around. Everything seemed normal here...but he thought he should investigate anyway!

So, he did just that.

This time, his travels found some spoils! To his inventory came a half-eaten cookie, a lint ball from when Neveah had been folding laundry, and an elastic. Thoroughly impressed with himself, he babbled louder now and crawled his way out of the room. Victory was found in the kitchen, now onto Ilhar's room! Ilhar had all sorts of neat things, he recalled...so naturally that was his next step.

When he reached Neveah's room, the Drow was delighted to find that the butterfly woman was asleep, snoring softly while resting on her stomach. With Ilhar out of commission, he was free to snoop around! Quieting his babbles from victory songs to amused and curious caw's, he toddled his way to the bookcase. It looked interesting from a distance, but up close...not so much. But maybe there were something BEHIND the rectangle things! Plopping himself down onto his butt, he proceeded to relieve the bottom shelf of its many books.

Oh, the disappointment! Nothing was behind those rectangle things! Not even lint! Pouting, the little Drow crawled into the bottom shelf and laid himself down on his stomach, resting his cheek on the wooden bottom. Even proud Drow warriors had to rest sometime! While he lay there, looking out from the cubby-like bottom shelf, the toddler sucked on his thumb and surveyed the rest of the room sleepily. Adventuring was hard work, but he was far from finished. That was when he caught sight of Neveah's desk; Ilhar was always at her desk, doing things! So it had to be interesting, right? Right?!

Yawning, Zasalamel shook his head to wake himself up; he couldn't nap yet! The secrets of the desk must be found! Pulling himself out of the bookshelf, he struggled to his feet and toddled to the almighty desk, his lips pressed together in grim determination. This was one small step for discovery...and one giant, exhausting step for the little Drow Warrior! Pulling on Ilhar's chair, he crawled onto it and then got to his feet again, his hands on the desk's lip as he looked around it, his purple eyes wide with wonder. There weren't just things here, there were thousands of things here! In his mind, at least.

One, there was another rectange thing, but it was open on the desk and one side of the page was written on, and the other was not. Pondering the meaning of this, he eventually thought it would only be right to leave his mark there, too! Maybe it was a 'claimed in the name of' book. Reaching out, Zah took one of the ink things he'd seen Neveah use before, holding it with his entire hand before scribbling on the empty page.

With his mark imprinted in the book, he put the ink thing back down and started reaching for anything else he could find on the desk. A few papers with writings on them, some ink things of different sizes, colours and shapes, some more elastics, a cup, disc-shaped things with writing on one side and a shiny face on the other, more rectange things...anything. Of course, all these findings were discovered, them properly discarded...over the edge of the desk and onto the floor.

Then, he happened upon the drawer of the desk! Heaving it open, he rummaged around inside and found...a pronged stick? A pronged stick with an elastic tied around it? Curious over this od looking object, he pulled on the little peice of leather that was on the elastic, and was thoroughly delighted to find that it flung forward! Giggling happily, he looked for something to put into the leather seat...and found a tack. Partially holding the tack in the leather seat, he pulled the elastic and let it go; and let out a happy babble when the tack flew forward and stuck into the wall. This was the best finding EVER!

So, knowing this pronged stick propelled things, he let loose a series of random objects at the wall infront of him; a paper, a pen, more tacks, a rolled up piece of paper, and other things. Now he knew what this pronged stick could throw, and what it couldn't...this was fun!

Neveah stirred, the noise of the objects getting shot at the wall was starting to irritate her sleep. Zah, now panicking, stuffed the pronged stick into his sweater pouch, then hastilly made his way off of the chair. After toddling out of his Ilhar's room, he sat down in the hallway and played with his new toy some more, making it create that whoosh noise whenever he let the elastic go. After a few rounds though, the sleepiness from earlier was setting back in. Swaying where he sat, the little Drow soon slid down onto his side on the carpet, hugging onto his pronged stick. Not long after that, he was off in the realm of sleep, dreaming of battling monsters with tacks.

When Neveah woke up, she woke to a room that was a little short of a disaster zone, and no toddler in sight to blame it on. Grumbling iritably to herself, the btuterfly woman stormed out of her room, expecting to give her 'son' a lecture...but instead, she found him asleep on the floor. Sighing instead of bitching, Neveah picked Zasalamel up (and he never let go of the slingshot), and carried him to the living room, setting him on a couch.

"You're gonna be in big trouble when you get up, so enjoy your sleep now." She warned his sleeping form, before going back to her room to clean up.

Title

Grumpy and Dark
Meeting Yashima in the park!

Summary:

Neveah had taken the twin brats and the Drow brat to the park for some playtime away from home. Zah, who had been pinging tinfoil balls at Prince for his amusement, ended up chasing after one of them when the spotted deer infant swatted it away. There, he met Yashima! Yashima was by himself and rather grumpy, but Zah managed to cheer him up and to teach him some words in Undercommon! After meeting Iamel there (holy s**t is Iamel tall now!), Neveah tought it would be in Yashima's best interest to stay with her for the night. So he did.

Yeah, Zah trashed my room. And Doodled on this page. I suppose I could start a new page, but that would be a waste of paper. I woke up from a nap this afternoon to find my room a mess! The books from my bottom shelf had been removed (and there was an odd toddler-shape in the dust there), things from my desk had been thrown on to the floor, tacks had been pressed into th wall across from my desk, and my drawer was open and raided.

The culprit was one black-skinned, white-haired dork named Zasalamel. I know that because he had dust on him, and pen ink on his clothes...and because the twins aren't capable of moving on their own yet, thank god.

Also, I've no idea WHERE, but the brat found himself a SLINGSHOT. I didn't even know I had one, and he couldn't have made it himself. He's only a toddler! But he's attached to it now, and I'm pretty sure its his weapon. He cries whenever I take it from him, and so far he's only shot tin foil balls at the tv, the wall, and on occassion, Prince. But Prince seems to like it, so I'll put up with it. Oh yes, this should be fun...

Title

Lost and Confused Night Elf
Need a place to stay?

Summary:

Neveah, further curious over her deer-like twins, traveled back to the Fourth Wall shop to ask Karma some more questions. Instead, She ran across a Night Elf, her owl, and a baby unicorn child! Verwin instantly made it into Zasalamel's good books by being able to speak and understand Undercommon, the language he feels alone in knowing. Tyranna, Verwin's Unicorn baby, was instantly put in Prince and Duke's good books, because she's so fun and cute (and she's like a female version of Duke, only Blue to his Pinkish Red and female to his male! Plus she has a horn but...details, details). After finding out Verwin has no place to stay, Neveah offers the spare room in her house.

Diary;

Well, ******** gained four housemates. One is Verwin, the Night Elf from...some place that is not Gaia. She's the mother-figure I guess, and she understands Zah so she couldn't be all that bad to have around...I guess I'd just gotten used to it being just me and the three boys. I'm sre I'll get used to this, though. The next one is Tyranna...she's like Prince and Duke, only she's a unicorn. She's such a sweethart! She's also Verwin's 'daughter', so I don't have to take care of her...but she and the twins are getting to be a set. They share the same room and they're all getting really close...I kind of sense a forboding aura for when they grow up though, hehe. The other two ae Verwin's animals, a tiger and an owl. The tiger is Frostfur, but i can't remember the owl's name. Oh well.

The point is, I went from having just the three of us to just the five of us and two big animals. I don't WANT other people here now, but I offered and I'd feel bad to leave Verwin with a baby all alone on Gaia. Mabe she'll find her own place soon, but maybe I'll start missing them.

Agh.

Title

Letter to Philos 4
October 2nd, 2006

Philos;

I haven't been able to come down for one straight weekend, I apologize. I've now aquired a set of twins to add to the mix, and its insanely difficult to get twin babies and a toddler ready to go anywhere.

But, here's a breakdown so far of observations in Zasalamel:

Physical stature
He's only a toddler, but he's clearly taller than the average one. I swear, he looked older than he really is! Also, he's thinner than the average toddler, and yet he eats like a horse. Its odd to have a toddler taler and thinner than most (I keep getting looked at like I'm starving this kid, ugh). Other than that, there have been no other changes. His skin is still black, his hair is still white, his eyes are still purple, his ears are still pointed.

The Senses
I've found his hearing to be excellent, to the point of being able to hear something before even I do...and I have damned good hearing! Of course, all elves have great hearing, so I suppose a dark elf is no exception. His sense of smell is...fair, for a toddler. Probably no higher than average just yet. He loves to touch things, so that's average too...I have no idea how he tastes, so I assume that is also average. But his sight. He has AMAZING eyesight in the dark, but his eyesight is weak in the light. He can see, but it hurts him and I assume his vision is blurred. He's much more sure-footed (as sure-footed as a toddler can be) in the pitch dark.

Language
I speak only english and the babies do nothing but babble, and yet Zah speaks a language that clearly is not english, but still has structure to it. I'm pretty sure this is his native Undercommon language. I've identified simple words for 'Mother' 'Food' 'Hungry' 'play' 'yes' 'no' and a whole bunch of others from just having to deal with him on a daily basis. Its a difficult language I must say, but I don't get why he speaks Undercommon when I only speak English, and yet...he understands me.

Social Stature
Like I suggested before, he's almost afraid of women, once he realizes there's a woman nearby. There are a few girls he seems to pretend aren't girls; I know this because he was wrestling with Kishi, a girl-child of a friend, during one visit. When he's self-conscious, he notices the presence of females even more, to the point where he's shy around an entity that hasn't solidifyed yet, but is still female. Around fellow boys he's loud, exciteable, and generally a social buterfly.

Around me, its touch and go. He likes to see how far he can go with me (but apparently that's normal), but he's still polite and generally well behaved. When I give him trouble, he's genuinely upset and tries to change. I guess thats what happens between a Drow mother and child.

Weaponry
Well, Zasalamel's aquired a slingshot, I'm not quite sure how. He's been slinging tin foil balls at things, and so far his aim is pretty good. More to come on this, though.

Kishi and Malen!

Summary:

Neveah asked Malen and Kishi to come down for a visit; mainly to use Kishi to get Zah to be less afraid of girls. While Kishi gave Zah cookies then followed him to his dark room, Malen and Neveah talked over tea, Neveah mostly complaining about how stressed she's become. Upstairs, Zah and Kishi have a wrestling match! A little one-sided, isn't it? A child verses a toddler...hn.

Title

The Dreaded Trip
Take a deep breath...

Well, here it was...the day Neveah took Zasalamel to see Philos.

Philos had been demanding it for quite some time now, and Neveah had managed to keep him at bay by making up excuses. This was probably one of the only times she was more than thankful for having the twins now. They helped her case more than they would ever know. But now, there were no more excuses. Philos made it quite clear that if Neveah didn't come to him now, he would go to her...and that would be all levels of bad, especially if he saw the strange twins she was now caring for, not to mention Verwin and the unicorn girl Tyranna.

Leaving Prince and Duke in Verwin's care for the day, Neveah got Zasalamel ready for Philos. She instructed the boy to be polite and friendly, and to not make a mess...general warnings from a general, still learning parent. However, unlike regular parents, Neveah had one more gift to give.

"Zasalamel, listen to me carefully." Neveah instructed sternly, moving down to his level to stare into his eyes. "If something happens, I want you to listen to me no matter what. If I tell you to run, you run, got it?" She had his shoulders now, making sure he was looking at her, and only her. When he nodded, she smiled with relief and dug something out of her bag. "Good boy. Now, I'm going to give you this...It'll be on the entire time." She knew Zasalamel was still looking at her and listening to her, so she kept going. Now, she tucked a cell phone into one of the pockets on Zasalamel's pant leg, closing the clasps on the pocket to make sure it stays. "If I do tell you to run, I want you to run and find a hiding place. Keep the phone with you, do you understand? Keep it with you. I'll call you when its safe to come out of hiding, and I'll come and find you. Don't. Move. After I call you." Zasalamel nodded again, looking at the pocket with the phone. He was confused...why was Ilhar doing this? Why was she acting so strangely? He mulled over it for a few minutes, then was happily sedated with a cookie and the promise of a new slingshot once this was all over.

Neveah was happy that Zasalamel seemed to understand, it was definately for the best if something did happen. The butterfly never really trusted that old man. She worked for him, yes...but he was just too hungry for power, and what more power could a folklorist have than first hand information on the elusive Drow? She didn't like what he was setting her up for, and she definately didn't like where it could go. After a glance back at her happily eating 'son', she gave him a hug and led him out the door.

----

When the pair reached Philos' office, Neveah was a little more than a complete wreck. She kept fidgeting when Philos examined Zasalamel, especially his eyes...and the boy did NOT look impressed. On occassion, Neveah would try and say something, but a stern glare from Philos shut her up; she ended up letting Philos test out Zah's eyes, his hearing, his reflexes, his language...everything.

Zasalamel looked back at her once, to see if she was even still there...Ilhar had been so quiet lately! When he looked at her though, he saw how nervous she was, how worried she was...and he was so worried about her that he turned away from Philos to face her, his head canting curiously.

"Ilhar jugare?" He asked her curiously, his purple eyes fixed on her. Before Neveah could answer him, Philos cut in.

"Boy, speak english." He ordered, his eyes narrowed on the little Drow. Turning back to the older man, Zasalamel looked confused.

"Usstan xo'al ulu screa nindel, Usstan shlu'ta telanth Kookiehs!" Zasalamel told the creepy old man, his voice ringing with pride. Kishi taught him that word, see? He was learning English!

"What? In English, Boy!"

"...Usstan xo'al--" Zasalamel looked worried now, but he tried again...and he cut himself off as he felt a sharp, stinging blow to his cheek; one hard enough to make him nearly fall off the desk. He...he hit him...? Zasalamel looked back up at the man, his eyes brimming with tears. "Ele...?" He pleaded, his voice broken by hiccups.

Neveah had froze in her spot when Philos Hit her Son. Philos hit her son. He hit her son! When Zah started to cry and asked him why, Neveah saw Philos raise his hand again...and that was the last straw. Before Philos could get to Zasalamel again, Neveah rushed between them, taking the slap that was meant for Zah. It didn't phase her like it had phased the drow...she was too pissed to even feel it.

"What the ******** do you think you're doing, you ******** b*****d?!" She growled out through gritted teeth, her aqua eyes filled with hatred. "You ******** hit MY child!" She screamed at him this time, her hands clasping into fists.

"The Drow learn through Violence. Teach him English by hitting him when he gets it wrong!" He scolded her, as if she was going about parenting all wrong. Before he could say anymore more, he felt the butterfly's fury in the form of a strong right hook. Stumbling back, he held onto his cheek and glared at her. "You..you b***h!" He seethed.

Ah, but hell hath no fury! Neveah was slouched over, breathing heavilly and glaring at Philos. "NOBODY tells me how to raise my kid! I'm NOT going to turn my son into the violent test subject you want him to be. YOU STAY THE ******** AWAY FROM HIM!" She didn't think to censor her words around Zasalamel; she was too angry and yelling to even notice he was there.

The two fought back and forth, though no more blows were exchanged. It seemed like forever to Zasalamel, who held his cheek and stared in awe and fear at his Ilhar and the strange man. Of course, he clued in when he heard;

"Zasalamel, RUN! Get out of here, go!" Philos was trying to get past Neveah now, and she was doing everything she could to keep him at bay. Apparently, Philos was going to steal the drow from her by force. "RUN!" She screamed one last time, looking over her shoulder at the wide-eyed boy.

Remembering what he'd been told earlier, Zah turned around, jumped off the desk...and ran.
