Each of the attacks, save Red's, seemed to be repelled by this mysterious reaper, barely seeming to faze him at all. Even Red's attack seemed to do very little -- silver eyes flicked to where the piece of exposed white coat dripped red, watching as a wide swing of the weapon threw the werewolf back, only for the reaper to retake his previous stance. He hadn't moved even a single step. More and more students attacked, until he was woefully outnumbered, and yet the outcome was perpetually the same. Cain's eyebrows visibly lifted, clearly both extremely surprised and very impressed -- something which happened only on the rarest of occasions. The demon had to admit, he had more than a little respect for this guy. They were third years, they weren't some little snots just wandering in from killergarden. Some of them had even excelled at this sort of thing, taking down even some of the teachers at Amityville in their spars.

Flicking his eyes down to where Pyre had landed, Cain lifted an eyebrow in an entirely different manner, skepticism written all over his face before he smirked, folding his arms across his chest.

"Personally, I like him. He's arguably besting Red and Pyre. Together." The demon addressed no one in particular, merely rolling his shoulders a little as he stepped off to one side. When he'd approached one of the walls of the cave, the baphomet uncrossed his arms, reaching down to rest his fingertips upon a medium-sized bolder. "Still, all good things must end. And I bore of this game."

There was a crackle of electricity, and the rock seemingly melted under his touch, turning an odd sort of silver color. If it was hot, however, Cain didn't seem to notice -- as the metal traveled up his fingers, coating one hand, the demon didn't flinch, or respond at all until it had mostly coated one arm. Only then did he lift his hand, flicking his fingers towards the reaper, this liquid metal solidifying as it shot towards him.

Prematurely, the demon smirked, already looking away to shake the remnants of silver from his fingers.

Unfortunately, his arrogance, and his apparent fighting skills, were about to come back to bite him.

The sound of the metal hitting the fear shield was like the crackling sizzle of energy, which first alerted him that something was wrong. Smirk all but ripped from his face, Cain snapped his eyes back up to the reaper just in time to watch his own attack ricochet back at him, the metal piercing his own body. Long, thick shards of silver sliced through skin and material, thick black blood beginning to stain his shirt where they had embedded themselves in his shoulders and chest. Hissing, both in pain and sheer anger, the baphomet stumbled back to lean against the wall, panting.

He wanted everything to go back to the way it was, but that was impossible. Every single thought in his mind was driven towards the stranger, Jinhai lashing out at him - though he wasn't doing much damage, if he was even doing any at all.

There was a flash of blue light - the weapon collided with his back, sending him careening down to the floor in a painful thump, Jinhai's breath escaping in a sharp gasp. He struggled beneath the force of it, but it dug into the space between his shoulder blades, the pressure growing, weighing down on him until it was difficult to even breathe.

"Interesting how you worry about him when he has forgotten about you."

...what?

His mind seemed to slow, then speed up again, all confusion and denial and uncertainty and frustration. He could not seem to sort through them to figure out what was real and what was not.

"...you're lying," said Jinhai, and shifted, wriggling uselessly to get out from beneath the weapon - and to his immense relief he felt the pressure disappear, the figure already moving onto their next person.

"That's not true," he said again, as though trying to convince himself. "He wouldn't just forget about me."

Nodding at Zeke, Murdoch watched the fight from a relatively safe distance, not far enough to look like he was going to escape, but not close enough to get caught up in the fight. Nothing about the battle made sense to him, and the only thing that came to mind was that this creature's purpose was way different from their own. If he could collapse a path that easily, then he could collapse the cave entry. If he could take out a group of third years with ease, then why didn't he?

"I don't like this. He's playing a game with us and we don't know the rules or even the goal."

Avery had heard rumors of a missing student, but he never expected to find that it would be Kato of all people. Surely they had it wrong... He had talked to him just before he left the cave the last time they were here. But the more Avery thought about it, the more likely it was. There was no sign of Kato. Not even his closest friends knew where he was. Was it true then? If that was so... then what had happened to him and where did he go? And was this reaper responsible?

Further words from the stranger and it seemed he knew at least something of Kato's disappearance. That alone seemed to make the behemoth's blood boil and he lunged for the stranger, hands coiled into a fist. Though despite his efforts every punch he threw flew straight past the reaper, causing damage to himself instead.

"Personally, I like him. He's arguably besting Red and Pyre. Together."

Conversation with Red was stopped almost immediately as Pyres shoulders went visibly stuff. The ghoul found herself turning slowly towards the boil whom's voice she had just heard, and she could already taste his bitter name on the tip of her tongue. "Cain." She managed to get a hiss back at him before the boil too went in to strike at their mysterious cloaked man.

Narrow eyes she watched with a sick and demented pleasure as the baphomet soon found himself being flung backwards, hit with his own attack. The phoenix felt her body run warm, if someone touched her her skin temperature would be above normal levels for certain. It was something that happened to the phoenix when her temper was getting the better of her, when something darker took over. She called it 'b***h mode.'

Feeling a sliver of that anger she turned in place and approached where the boil lay against the wall. Her wings were pressed tightly against her back, her stride only momentarily faltering when she had another random twitch somewhere." "Oh..Cain Cain Cain." She tsk'd as she grow closer, her glowing yellow gaze only for the boil. She was close enough now that she was staring almost down at him, only because he leaned against the wall. ""Here... let me help you with that." Lifting a hand, she took her palm and placed it at the end of one of the sharp pieces of metal. Twisted smile back in place, she found herself pushing ever so lightly against the piece imbedded inside him. Before she pressed harder, letting it sink it more. The shard was a double edged sword though, because soon her own golden colored blood was beginning to flow down and fall to the earth in droplets, a deep contrast against his black." "Oops..... Convulsions, you know. That scythe is a b***h."

She then ripped the shard she was holding out of his chest.

"If we're talking about rules and goals, the question is how and why this player's entered this game. But it sounds like he's crashed our party earlier than this-- Did you get that impression?"

Zeke returned the nod, his legs stretching to give the boil some room. He continued to take notes, in his little notebook, glancing over at the scene playing out with Cain. Huh. More scribbles. His eyes traveled back to the fight, tapping his pencil idly against his cheek.

It was obvious that intruder knew the rules.

Was the graduation timing and this coincidental?

Skylar arrived just in time to see things break out into a fight. He hadn't caught any of the conversation going on between the students and the strange reaper, but whatever had happened, clearly it was bad enough for a fight to break out. Then again, if the defenders were involved, they might have picked another unnecessary fight. Which wouldn't be all that surprising. Considering they did it all the time.

"What the heck is going on--" He started ask, unsure if he should jump into the fray or go and get one of the professors to break things up. "--and why are they attacking that reaper?"

Rowly felt him self fall to the floor. He could not will his legs or arms to move properly or will him self to really do much of everything.

Hobo reaper was super effective.

"Graduating students against mysterious provoking intruder. Let's not forget about the skirmishes on the side too. Although .. I'm not sure if you want to call him a reaper exactly .."

Zeke decided that part was extremely debatable.

Weapon? Check. Amytiville student? Unchecked. Part of the Halloween population? Possibly, unchecked.

The demon was clearly not used to getting hit with his own attack. Pressing himself back hard against the wall of the cave, the expression which crossed Cain's expression in waves was irrefutable pain, teeth gritted and bared in an angry grimace. He hadn't been fooling around -- the baphomet had put quite a bit of power and energy behind that attack, very little of which, it seems, was lost in the ricochet. The silver spikes were buried deep, some nearly deep enough to impale him entirely, and every breath or slight movement shifted them, coaxing him to hiss in pain.

And it pissed him off.

The flash of vibrant color in the corner of his eye brought Cain's attention back to Pyre, following her with his gaze as she sauntered towards him dangerously. His name on her tongue, dripping with disdain and mocking, normally would have entertained him, more than happy to banter with the anger-prone ghoul, but injured as he was now, he was in no mood. Narrowing his eyes, the baphomet gave her an icy look as she stepped up closer, already irritated that like this she stood taller than he, forcing him to stare up at her. Hissing again in pain as she forced the shard deeper, Cain cursed in an archaic language, arching in agony, his fingers digging into the rock wall. Snapping a hand out, he grabbed her wrist, squeezing it threateningly as he glared up at her.

"How sweet of you."

Despite holding her wrist, Pyre had the upper hand. Jerking reflexively as she ripped the shard out of his chest, the demon ground his teeth, spitting another curse, this time not so outdated.

"s**t."

She thought she'd hit him hard.

She thought she'd really gotten a nice chunk out of him.

But Bella had smacked into something a second before actually touching him, and when she fell to the ground, she felt like he'd just forced a straw into her and sucked all her energy out. She felt like s**t, and she had no idea why.

Rowly was on the floor, and he wasn't moving. She wasn't that much better, but at least she could move, so she crawled over beside him, flopped on top of his paralyzed body.. and pulled out her phone.

"S'all right Rowly, baby. I gotcha. Just lie there and play dead. Nobody's touching you." She said all of this, distractedly, while tapping away.

He heard the words and the tapping. The were just laid there trying his best to get his jaw to move. Little by little the jaw started to move some. Shortly soon after he was able to get better control of his tongue. This probably took about five minutes. Drooling may or may not have been involved.

"..Touching.." He wanted to crane his neck to see what Bella was doing with her tapping. He could only assume texting of some sort.

Little by little the were penguin wiggled closer to the fallen. It was like watching an awkward sideways inch worm move that had probably taken the short bus in its youth.

Snowman was watching the fighting, he wasn't really sure why they were fighting the fellow in the cloak. However, they weren't fighting him and weren't hurting George so he was okay with whatever they were doing. Maybe he could bug one of them later and get caught up on what he missed.

He felt like hie missed a lot while he was cleaning. George squeaked from his pocket.

Willow on the other hand was wanting to face palm, couldn't this guy at least do something. He kept missing out on all the action! Maybe he'd use one of those glitterbombs or something.... eventually......... hopefully.....

Bella pulled her head to the side and eyed the inchworm carefully, before leaning in and smacking his cheek.

"Hey. I said stay still. Much as I like it, you're doing the opposite of still." She snickered and turned her attention back to her phone. "We don't know what the ******** this guy is, and what he's going to do. So uh, let's stay down and let the defenders nerds get the brunt of this."
