"We're here," Aria called back, walking out of the fog. She stopped short, her eyes widening as she looked over the group. Two were missing. Aria looked over the group again, counting to make sure. She looked at Candace. "Where's Draven? Eli?"
A sob broke from behind her as a hunter appeared behind Aria, their eyes wide. "What about Eli? What do you mean where --" The hunter stopped, hands going to their mouth. "No. No, no, no no
no no n-"
"Milly! Pull yourself together!" Aria snapped, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her. "Milly, we need to get them to safety. We've already found Darryl and Mike. Do you understand? We need to get them out
now. Eli can take care of herself. She's a
Mist. Pull yourself together, Milly. Once they're safe we'll come back. Okay?" Aria released the hunter as she nodded, gesturing sharply towards the hunter group.
"Mark's gone, as is the equipment. I don't know where he is. We did a bit of scouting, but there's nothing here. No word back from the other Death teams, or from Caelius. Our mission is complete; we're pulling out and going back to Deus
now." Her tone offered no room for argument, no chance to argue. They retreated, going through the portal and into the safety of the island.
The next morning, Candace would awaken to find a brand new coat hanging on the back of her door. One pocket contained a small pouch that contained a note:
See me sometime to earn your own set. Nevertheless, congratulations. - AriaEight
- Congratulations
