"Always. Except for sleeping n' eating." When Mort had first gotten him as an egg, he never would have imagined it would have been so irritable about everything. "Have a theory - could be because've damage to certain part've brain that controls emotions. Read up before on cases've undead personalities g-going sour from one bad hit to wrong spot. not that could check, he won't sit still or let go near . . ." Growing up, it had been something Mort had feared because of his first mother's insistence of the dangers - sorta like "don't run with scissors", but worse. The brain was such a fragile thing in spite of its importance.
He tossed a look over his shoulder at her. "Treats? Er, yeah. Haven't stocked up on braincon in while, though, s-since he disappeared." He wasn't aware that Bells still had the bag of treats from earlier, having assumed she would have let Lanna eat it all in her characteristically generous manner. "Look, will deal with Brian. Always have. D-Don't need risk you getting bitten s'more," he told her, shrugging her hands off before opening the door into a slit. Immediately a green, bony snout poked at it, teeth bared."Go, ah, take care've lights. Will be with in a sec."AyeAvast Bells can choose to ignore him and help anyway or listen to his suggestion. Should she choose the latter, she can come across several effecs of his he might not otherwise show.

Always? Goodness, how unfortunate. For a moment the witch considered what it would be like to have a pet that was always angry, always unwilling to cuddle and always a horrid pain to deal with. Her conclusion? Wretched! As someone who was fairly fond of animals, it nearly hurt Belladonna to think of never being able to lavish affection on her pets. Poor Mort! No wonder he wanted to go it alone... "Maybe you'll have to sedate him some day and find out?" The witch offered with an off-hand shrug. Honestly she had no clue, but it was worth a shot to offer something helpful, right? In any case she dropped her forehead to the place between his shoulder blades in a strange, impromptu 'facepalm', and let out a small groan. "I gave Lanna all the treats... Darn."Well, that idea was out the window. Curse Belladonna's need to be overly generous and give away things! "Oh pish! Tosh! I'm helping whether you like it or not... Besides, I know a healing spell so its not like we'll be permanently damaged should something happen." Belladonna said as she raised her head and took a step to the side, prepared to catch the creature should he come charging out. Not entirely sure what Mort had planned, Belladonna had to stay light on her feet and prepared for anything. Anything! Ol-j-man Well of course she has to be difficult. XD

PHONE POST YAY. 5th dice: 1/2 = Mort, 3/4 = Bells Willful meant stubborn, he'd forgotten. "Bells, I - Alright then...On count of 3. One." The door jiggled as Brian tried to push his way out.
"Two." A grimy snarl.
"Three!" Mort let go of the doorknob, and at once Brian pulled it back with a paw and charged forward. He caught the minipet in a wrangling hold, horns gouging his chest and arms. FOr a moment it looked like he had it, but Brian scrabbled his way out before he could pin his legs, fleeing towards the open area by the bed before turning and growling at them.

Despite the scary situation they were in, Belladonna couldn't help the satisfied smile that bloomed on her face. Ha! Mort knew the severity of the situation and had decided to let her help. That'd show him to think that she was simply a damsel in distress. Not that he thought that of course, it was just... Yanno, the point or something. Whatever. Belladonna dismissed the idea as the door rattled angrily, Brian already jonesing for more blood. This was certainly going to be interesting. If interesting meant horrifying, potentially bloody and certainly a bonding experience for the young couple, then yeah. Definitely interesting. With each new count, Belladonna further braced herself and tried to breath. But it was no good. The moment Mort shouted 'Three!' and opened the door, she was totally unprepared for the charge from Brian. Nor was she prepared for his attack on Mort. "Oh Hecate, are you ok?!" She shouted before she realized Mort was struggling. Just as she rushed forward to help, Brian broke free and darted off. When he turned and growled, Belladonna seized her chance. With quick feet, Belladonna rushed him and gave him another good spank. "You stop this right now!" She told him with an angry frown and a waggling finger. Whether he would listen or not was another matter entirely. That and she was too busy standing with her hands on her hips and one finger wagging angrily, to keep busy and protect herself from an unwanted attacks. Whoops! HP: 40 Damage: 7

Did . . . Did she just spank Brian? Mort threw her a bewildered look. "Uh. M'fine. This is nothing," he assured, shaking it off and turning to the snorting bull of a minipet. Brian didn't look happy at the return of the open hand approach, and while he was dazed from the hit Mort took advantage and sent a little spark his way, hoping to stun him.
Sadly, it didn't have enough juice to do more than irritate.
"Use cards so can't get close," Mort suggested, trying to place himself between them again. Had Bells seriously gone with the hands on approach, literally? She was used to nicer mini pets, but Brian wasn't someone to give free access to flesh to.

Brian was not a happy camper. Not only was he being met with resistance, but the redhead from before was back with her nasty hands. He chomped at the bit, shaking off Mort's static and charging once again, wanting nothing more than to gore the ghoul's legs into a bloody mess.
Fortunately Mort managed to catch him again before the dragie could slip between his legs, though the second struggle was a lot more violent. Brian remembered how close to dissipation he had been last time and was not intending to go down so easily this time. Horns pierce flesh, claws left gouge marks, and teeth caught on his hair in a mess of impudent rebellion. Mort was thrown against the bed with the force of Brian's escape; his FEAR shield had softened the blows so that there was no lasting damage, but the zomboil was winded nevertheless.
Brian fled under the table, crouched and hissing. Lanna gave a shrill cry and pressed herself against the wall, thankful that Belladonna had put her on the bed prior.HP: 11 Target: Mort Damage: 9

"My cards! Of course!" The witch cried as she fished around in her pockets for them. Oh Hecate, where'd she put them!? Had she even bothered to bring them? Oh wait! With quick hands, Belladonna quickly untied the apron ties on her neck and unbuttoned the first few button of her dress. She hadn't thought she would need her cards and with a dress that looked tragic with anything heavy in the pockets, the witch had been forced to stuff the cards down the front of her dress. Good thing her cleavage formed a fantastic pocket! Not even bothering to button the dress back up, she sprang into action and tossed the cards out in front of her. Immediately they took to the air and formed a circle around her. "Oh my Hecate!" Belladonna whimpered as Mort was tossed against the bed, and sometime later that day when things weren't so serious, she would certainly make the joke about him being thrown onto the bed and that the wrong person had done the throwing. But not now, now was attacking. Before she hadn't wanted to hurt him, but now that the pet had seriously hurt Mort, she didn't feel all that bad about tossing a few cards his way that snickered against his skin. "Are you bleeding?" The witch asked with a quick, worried look to Mort. HP: 40 Damage: 6

As the cards sliced through his skin, Brian fell back with a cry until he was at the opposite end of the room by the window seat (or what would have constituted as one had there been a window). Baleful red eyes were cast at the witch, but he dared not approach. At least not for now . . . He needed another opportunity when their backs were turned.
"M'fine, m'fine! Ghh, still a little b*****d though . . ." Mort picked himself off the floor with a grunt, pressing a few fingers to his stomach and chest where most of the attacks had been directed. Blood wasn't an issue since his shield was still up, but puncture wounds were evident in his shirt - it was why he had taken off his coat before unleashing the hellion. Mort cast Brian a long look, debating whether to try catching him again or just blasting the thing to bits and forcing it back into the other side of the closet.
He went for a compromise and shot Brian with a few more bolts of electricity. The dragie felt to one e.g., twitching and growling weakly. "There. S-Sedated enough," Mort said, walking over and pulling the pet up into a vicegrip towards the closet. He used a foot to push the handle down, nudged it open, and tossed Brian bodily into The Other Side. The closet was shut closed and locked with a relieved sound.
"Right. Ah. Glad that's o-over. Wasn't joking when said Brian was horrid. Am a good meat shield, eh?" he commented with a little smile.

The witch watched with clenched fists as Mort electrocuted the pet into submission. Though she winced visibly, she also quickly cast away any unfortunate feelings for him. He had really hurt her Mort, so grrr! Bad pet! She watched with clenched fists as Mort picked up the sedated pet and deposited it into the closet. Then, and only then, did Belladonna take a breath. Now that all that was over, she padded over to Mort and began to inspect his wounds. With her FEAR shield still up, her cards danced idly around her, but expanded their spiral to include Mort in their circle. "Oh goodness... You're wounded..." Absent of space (and her still open shirt that revealed the black corset underneath, because Belladonna no longer believed in bras), she approached him and gently touched one puncture wound lightly.
"Hold still..." Belladonna instructed as she pulled out a card, paused it before him to show that it was The Moon, and tossed it lightly into the air. The card sailed up above them and bloomed into a big yellow moon. But it only stayed yellow for a moment before it quickly turned black. "Errrr.... That didn't work, hold on!"

((OK. Even though TECHNICALLY she can only use her healing technique once, I figure since its not for a battle its ok that she uses it more than once.)) Belladonna had to wait a moment for The Moon to return back to the circle of cards that swirled around them both, but finally it came back around and she grabbed it up again. "Second time is the charm, right?" She chirruped optimistically and she once again tossed it into the air. The moon appeared again and was yellow for a few moments longer, but it still turned black. Quite visibly the witch's face fell as she watched the black moon sprinkle into a small cloud of black glitter before it fully faded away. With crumbled eyebrows and a deep frown, Belladonna looked up to Mort. "I'm so sorry! I don't know why this isn't working... I can try again, if you want?" She told him, her hands curling around the front of his shirt. Did he hurt? He didn't seem to be bleeding, but most Undead really didn't... So she just couldn't tell if he was alright or was just putting on a brave face for her.

Mort blinked once as the cards began to encircle him and then a second time when she clutched at his shirt. "Really, m'fine -" Though it was no use. She summoned her FEAR anyway, The Moon shining above him briefly before fading away. "Huh! So that's new healing spell?" he asked most conversationally, like he hadn't just been mauled and thrown against his own bed. "Neat." This was the first time he actually saw the cards in action and, recollecting her past mention of a knight, could only hope that he was never on the wrong end of that sword.
Did Mort look like he was in pain? Not really. To be honest, a few bites and pokes from Brian's horns were nothing compared to being drilled to death, stabbed to death, and in one case burned to death, and that wasn't counting the times he'd gotten maimed to the point of losing limbs. Hell, when he looked down into the witch's worried eyes he couldn't help but chuckle a bit, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Bells. Only got winded. I'm good, really. But appreciated the thought." Another chaste kiss on her forehead was delivered before he slid his hands off and turned to assess the damage. It looked as though there were fresh claw marks on the bathroom side of the door, but other than a ruffled rug and a destabilized alarm clock stand Brian hadn't done much damage in his rampage. Really the most damage done had been to him, but the FEAR shield took care of that.
He was still tired, but something about the battle had lit a new fire in him. Probably the notion of keeping his ghoul friend safe form something nasty. "Those cards're pretty wicked, must say!" he commented as he went by the bed and pulled the plug on the first of several of the Christmastival light strings. "Guess hunter battle wasn't for nothing. Been practicing, or always that lucky?"AyeAvast XD I think it's alright in this case since it's healing, so long as it's not too often in a small space of time.

Though to Mort it might not be a big deal, to Belladonna, she had failed him in every possible way. Even though she had done the most damage, she still felt awful about his wounds. Not even his hands on her shoulders and the kiss to her forehead could stop her desperate look of worry. Even though Mort wasn't really displaying any signs of intense pain, she still couldn't help the last card she tossed into the air. But her hopes were pinned to heavily too the card for it to work, so she only heaved a heavy sigh. Mort had already walked away so he didn't see her little sniffle she was able to hide. "Yeah, they're pretty cool..." Belladonna shrugged as she held out both hands and watched her cards uniformly stack themselves. After they were all neatly stacked, she pushed them back into her corset and finally realized 'Oh hey! I look like a really loose ghoul what with my lovely ladies on display!'. A wicked thought occurred to the witch, so instead of closing back up the shirt, she tossed an absent look onto her face and bounced over to Mort. "That Hunter fight was brutal! She creamed me, big time." Belladonna chirruped as she bent down and grabbed the other end of the string of lights. Bounce, bounce~ "You make a pretty good tank. Next time we'll have to battle together. We'll be an unstoppable team!" Before she bounced away, Belladonna gave Mort the wrapped up lights she had finished, before she looked up to him and wrapped her arms quickly around his waist. To herself she apologized for not being able to heal him like she wanted, but also decided next time she'd definitely heal him in full! "Do you want me to do something with the boxes? I might keep the pictures and the riddles for sentimental reasons, but you could always use the boxes some other time?" She asked as she danced over to the bed and held up the empty boxes.

"You can keep 'em. Already have a lotta stuff here," Mort said with a nod, looping the string of lights about his shoulder and working his way over to Bella's side. "Would get lost otherw-"
Bounce bounce~
. . .
Mort gave her a look that was somewhere between amused, confused, and whatever the name was for trying to keep a straight face - stoic? - before carrying on with the work as if nothing had given him pause. No, curse it, he was not going to fall for those tricks so easily! Though what black magic kept the twins in line? He swore that corset was going to make her burst . . . And that did map some of the blush return.
Just as he took the loops of string Bells had finished, and just as he was turning to dump them into one of the boxes, he felt himself held back by an embrace. An apology? He would've returned the hug had his hands not been tied up, but hopefully the warm smile was a close enough sentiment to convey instead. "Just, ah, leave the boxes there. Will use to put Underland stuff in before storing away in other closet." With the rest of what complying materials he had from previous dentures. Jack, that area was getting a bit cluttered now that he thought about it . . . He'd have to send some stuff back home at this rate.
Mort stacked the lights on top of each other in one of the boxes she held up and turned to take the standing pieces of the Tweedles off the stand to add soon after. "You, ah, think so? Think could be team?" It sounded appealing, most definitely, but . . . "Haven't had best track record for b-battles won, you know. But, er, if you can keep the cards up, I can distract the enemy?" No, that didn't sound good. "Mrrr. So you mean like battle couple? Back-to-back, cards n' energy, Mr. Indestructible n' his lady Magical Ghoul?" Mort suggested with a teasing grin.AyeAvast Mort's derp rolls have infected her!

Gotcha. Was the only thought Belladonna had as she watched Mort break off his sentence. She gave him an innocent smile, as though she was waiting for him to finish, but secretly relished the strange look his face contorted into. She almost cackled but then he looked away and she nearly stomped her foot. Well fine! She told herself as she cocked a hip in frustration. Really, she didn't ask for much... Just a little affection here and there and maybe a few lustful kisses. Goodness! As for the hug, Belladonna only pressed her face into his chest and replied with a very muffled "OK." She slipped from him and tried not to get upset over his lack of return of the hug. Now she really forgot about her shirt as she slid the little pictures into her pockets before she held out one of the boxes for him. After he placed the lights inside, the witch turned to the table and began to carefully stack the tea cups and saucers up on top of each other, tea cup onto saucer and tea cup onto saucer, so on and so on until they were neatly stacked. A bit high, but stacked. "I'm sure you've won a battle or two in your time... You did beat Greg, after all." Belladonna mused as she looked for a place to put the tea cups, sure to leave the tea pot and its little band of baby miced teas. When Mort suggested a battle couple, the witch whirled around to look at him. "Mr. Indestructible and his lady Deadly Nightshade. I like it! Or perhaps... Mistress Tarot? No, no... Hmmm..." Now Belladonna really stopped and considered the idea, a smile suddenly splashed across her face. This was such a fun idea! She had heard of battle couples before, but never really considered herself to be one. Maybe they could even travel to the Human World and scare humans together? Wouldn't that be fun! "We might just have to spar with each other sometime... I still have to show you my magical girl outfit..." After the tea cups were neatly stacked, Belladonna moved onto the pieces of paper that lined the walls. It was a shame to remove them after all his hard work, but the boil was tired and Belladonna figured she should get out of his hair. Involuntarily her shoulders slumped as she pulled the paper off, delicately so as not to pull at the paint behind them. "But I don't know if I could watch you get hurt... Especially if I can hardly heal properly." She added with a heavy pout.
