The Count Of Monte Cristo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Count nodded and walked to the door with Sorrian. "Allow me to tell you why I chose to help you when I saw you on the street being arrested. I helped you, because in the moments I saw the guards trying to put you in chains I remembered one thing. No one came to help me when I was betrayed, so many years ago. I know what is is like to lose everything you have and everyone you have. Poor or rich you lose the same. I did not wish what fell upon me once I was arrested on any other man no matter how good or bad. So I fought to do what is right. It is never what the people say that matters, they lie, cheat, and steal. What matters is what you know for a fact, and I knew you were a good man, not what they had claimed you were." The Count explained in a whisper so only the King could hear. Only a man who had come so close to what happened to the Count could understand what he meant. But even though he came close he would likely not fully understand seeing as he had only come close, not gone through it.
"So, if I am to be selling you to Skyron we must first put you in chains." the Count said walking back over to the chest he had gone to before. He pulled out bindings he had kept from the first time they escaped the guards. "the bloodstain on your chest will make it look as though you resisted therefore our lie will be more believable." The Count said tossing the bindings to Lucheston.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira's eyes widened when she heard the man's name. It wasn't so much that he was a king, she'd dealt with leaders before and knew without a doubt how incredibly human they were. But she'd heard many stories of the man who rose to the throne through deeds alone. "Wait...didn't your son marry that tyrant's daughter?" Dokoro was a place she'd never been and never wished to be. As deep as her sense of justice was, she couldn't stand the idea of working for a dictator. But what of a dictator's ally? She wasn't sure what to believe of this man. But she agreed to help. And if it did come out that he wasn't much of a noble man, he would be put in chains anyway. It wouldn't be so difficult to turn things against them. But that was for later thought. She followed the man out, watching as the Count put bindings on the man. "Are you certain this will work?" She asked doubtfully. "If anyone has seen you helping him, word may have already gotten back to the false king that he has an ally."
The Count turned to Safira "I actually had though about that. That is why my cover will be a greedy bounty hunter. If they have received word already of me helping him I will claim to have only done it so I could sell the King myself." The count said as he walked towards the front of the boat. It seemed like it had been weeks since he touched land.
"Such is true," Lucheston began in response to Safira, dawning the chains which had once held them bound to a rather despicable contraption. "My son Oban was to be wed with the Daughter of Doko Lotrius, her name is Issemenna and she is far more kind hearted than her elders. I agreed to arrange the marriage because although I knew Doko would try to use it to get closer to Garnoff's holy ground, I could attack the tyrant from behind his own walls. The Tyrant keeps his eyes so tightly fixed upon our power that he cannot witness the lessening of his own." Lucheston smiled as the last of the rough iron shackles was latched to his being.
"We of Garnoff could have risen his people, and shown them that they need not be afraid of their oppressor. Meanwhile, my knights could get a further study of their forces simply by walking through their streets, and the placement of erosion casts here and there was a bit helpful I must admit." The king coughed before continuing. "Rebelions arisen against a foolish leader is nothing difficult to begin, and as the mad king slobbers at the mere mention of power he would have been easily persuaded to slowly allow the Silver Knights through the gates of Dokoro and for their citizens to become our own. Eventually a coup would have been so easy that the toppled tyrant would be worth your pity." With his explination of diplomatic warfare complete, Sorrian then took upon himself a rather diminished feature of foreboding.
"Then of course..." He began, "That was before my son Skyron betrayed his people. Now he clearly wishes to prove himself a rightful king...and could even bend to Doko's will."
The Count said nothing. He just stood at the edge of his boat as they came into the docks. Now it began, the smallest rebellion known and he hoped the most successful. Should they fail he doubted his life would be spared. He had freed a highly valued prisoner and killed many guards in the process, then he had plotted to overthrow a King. Failing would most likely mean his death. He let them talk as the boat slowed.
(Just posting as a transition. We all soon will exit to the Grand Port, or The Glowing City. Which ever is correct on the map.)
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira listened to the way he spoke about his daughter-in-law. She wasn't so sure the princess was so different from her father. Being raised by a dictator made you used to the lifestyle. But there was no reason to think on that now. They had other matters to attend to. And she planned to be in on it. "I'll be your accomplice then." She said, walking forward. "It will make it look like more of an operation." She stared at the port as it came into view. It wasn't so long ago that she was there, but she didn't let the irony distract her. She walked ahead, eager for what was coming next.
[[OOC: I wonder, should Menna and Gallion run into them? He wouldn't recognize Menna, as she's still disguised as one of her previous ladies in waiting, but he would recognize Gallion.]]
(Not sure what to post for Lucheston yet)
[[ It wouldn't be a good idea for Lucheston to bump into Gallion, since Gallion's loyal service would bring him back to protect Lucheston hence he would be unyielding in that menna remain with them until Oban's return. Gallion would follow Lucheston and his orders to perform operations to overthrow Skyron in Garnoff rather than assist Menna. It's not that he doesn't want menna to accomplish her goal, it's just that he holds a great sum of loyalty and when faced with a decision between the two he still holds more loyalty with Lucheston.]]
The Count looked over at the girl. He took of he robe and tossed it to her. Even without it he felt the vest he had on completed his outfit. "Put that on, it will make you seem to have more money. Then you will look like my accomplice." The Count said as they came into Garanoff's docks. "Here we go..." The Count mumbled as he stepped aside to let them get off his boat first. He planned to be the last one. His act began now. Letting Lucheston exit first would imply he trusted the prisoner not to run, they could not show that trust. Letting him go last implied trust that the former king would not jump into the water. He would not show that trust either. He would show no faith at all so he would let Safira go, then Lucheston, then himself. This ordered showed that he had control over the situation by keeping Lucheston's options limited. Then again no one would ever really pick up on the order they exited. Not many people had a mind like his but it was the little things that made this cover comfortable with him.
(The Count has exited to Garanoff around the docks.)
