Riku would however find that the aged woman was asleep, a small blanket wrapped around her shoulders as she slept while sitting behind the counter. Oddly enough the child would however find that beside the woman was a letter addressed to her and marked with nothing else.
Inside the envelope was a small note ordering her to return to the Academy for a Tournament, and a map indicating where to find it.

Riku's words fell on deaf ears as she realized the lady was asleep. Figures. Sighing she was about to try and rouse the older woman when she spotted an envelope with her name on it. Curious, she took it and opened it. The letter told her that her mission was basically being put on hold and to return to the academy. A tournament was going on? The girl then hooked her pokeballs back onto her belt. It was time to head back then. She could just stop at the local pokemon center before heading to the tournament. The girl was now heading back towards the train station.

Riku arrived at AvaVillage fairly quickly. She glanced around the snowy town and then spotted everything at once. Of course, even though she'd been gone everything still looked the same. She saw the pokemon center and wondered if the old Nurse Joy still worked there. Most likely. The girl began to head towards the gym, trekking through the snow wondering if the note would still be there.

Indeed the note was still there. Whatever it was the Gym Leader was up to, it took more time then the girl had been gone. Likely the Snover's Hailstorm had something to do with that.

Riku looked at the note and then shook her head. Well the chance had been slim and the girl wasn't in luck. Unfortunately she still wasn't back and still needed to head up to the forest. She began to make her way out of the town heading upward towards the large building some distance away. What kind of encounters would she run into this time? The girl continued forward, hoping things might be a little easier this time around.

The girl managed to recognize some of the trees and the path seemed clear for now. Nothing out of the ordinary popped out of the shadows or anything. Riku glanced around, not trusting the silence. Last time things liked to pop out at unexpected times. She walked carefully, wondering if she should try and quicken her pace...

Trudging through the snow, Riku would find that the weather had cleared up rather nicely. Yet some things never seemed to change. Standing high atop one of the pine trees, a Murkrow gave a loud 'caw' which seemed to echo in the clear mountain air. After this announcement however the Pokemon would make no further sounds save for the occasional rustle of feathers as he adjusted his position. Looking down, the bird watched her intently. He did not move to attack...he simply....watched.

Riku froze when she heard the caw. Last time that had happened, she had been attacked by a Sneasel. Weary, she began to walk more carefully. Her violet gaze flickered over her surroundings, a little agitated. What would come out this time? She could erase the memories of the Swinub that had continuously chased her..The girl then just thought about releasing a pokemon out with her besides Loki . Deciding against it, she continued forward. It made her just a little paranoid, that was all.

Riku continued forward. Okay, that was kind of weird. Things were happening almost exactly like before. The girl continued forward through the snow. Last time when she had approached these trees, a bunch of Snover had been dancing. Then that horrible hail had fallen through the sky everywhere and making it difficult to battle. Moving forward, she could only continue to keep going hoping nothing would go wrong.

Riku was being surprisingly lucky. Thank Arceus. Nothing had popped out and the girl actually relaxed a little bit. Maybe she had just been paranoid after all. Grinning at her own foolishness, she just continued forward. It looked like the huge building was getting slightly closer this time which was good. The girl cuddled with Loki on her shoulder while walking.

Riku continued to skip along. The weather felt fresh and it was pure mountain air. She felt refreshed and happy. The mission wasn't going to badly this time along. Riku wondered how Sir Aiden was doing at home but wasn't too worried. The Growlithe had proven he could take care of himself but maybe she should find another fire type to leave with him next time. He could use a companion at least to avoid being lonely...

Riku continued walking through the snow. For a second, she decided to pause and have some fun. Falling back into the snow, she then made a snow angel. Grinning like a little girl, she glanced at it before shaking off the snow. Okay, well fun time was over and she needed to get serious now. The girl continued on her way towards the fortress in the distance.

As Riku stepped forward however, she'd find she could proceed no further. The snow all around her would shift as men...soldiers if the cut of their uniforms was any indication...rose to block her path, surrounding her in almost an instant. "Confirmation of target. Intruder has been surrounded" One spoke up, pressing his fingers against one ear. It would seem this wasn't just a random assault.
With a snap of fingers from the soldiers surrounding the girl, a number of Pokemon would appear. Abomasnow whom had been blending with the trees. Bearartic and Snover who rose from the ice coated surface of the mountain itself.
"Identify yourself!" One of the men commanded, lifting a black fun emblazoned with the Strike Team Insignia. That would make it clear...these were men from the fortress. Closer inspection would allow her to realize the uniforms these men wore to be an altered version of the common Grunt uniform. Completely white instead of the usual monochrome, a tuke had been added under the cap, along a thick scarf and goggles. Upon each uniform there was an R, white on the inside as it was on the outside, and made existent only by a series of thin black threads. Difficult to see from a distance, and impossible to find if covered by snow.
