"Well, then, I have a lot to teach you, don't I!" He seemed flabbergasted by the idea she didn't know any proper classics but... there was plenty of time to fill her in, "You don't even know any Doors? Gosh, Sasha, where have you been?"
He let go of her hand to pull his guitar around as they walked, playfully picking out a few chords, "People are strange, when you're a stranger, faces look ugly, when you're alone... You honestly don't know this? Well I know what we have to do."
The question he had almost asked remained unsaid. It was a good thing he had kept his mouth shut. Not the right time for that sort of thing.

Sasha burst into laughter again, shaking her head. "You know exactly where I've.. I've been! Papa only had a small cassette player, and we'd only listen to stuff like, um. Well, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt. Orchestral pieces, too. And musicals, even, like the Sound of Music - you remember. Nothing um. Nothing like that," she gestured towards his guitar.
"You play very beautifully, by the way. Have I.. did I ever tell you that?" Her smile brightened. "Like you were meant to make music, Jerry. I admire that. About you, I mean." Sasha's cheeks pinked up.
"Music is just. So powerful, you know?"
Sasha gave a thoughtful hum.
"What's your um. Your favorite song? Ever?"

He flushed heavily at her compliment, his hands fumbling over the chords, "I ah... it's... it's always been the one thing I was ah... decent at." He smiled weakly, "Better playing than actually writing. Doesn't stop me though! The most useless talent."
"My favorite?" He paused a moment, stopping his playing, "I don't know if I have a favorite.... m-maybe if you chose a genre, hahahahaha..." He shook his head and continued on, his spirits lifted a bit. Sasha was good for that.
"Yeah it... Music's amazingly powerful. I had a stammer when I was little-" Which had been creeping back unnervingly frequently lately, "Did you know you can cure a stutter through singing? It takes a different thought process and allows you to imagine the rhythm the words should be said! Let alone the emotional impact during times of duress a good soothing song can do for the nerves..."

Sasha's expression wilted slightly when Jerry mentioned music being a worthless talent. "That's.. well, that's just a terrible thing to say."
She stopped and addressed each comment he'd made, looking more than a little offended.
"Jerry you can't like. You can't say that music is useless. You admit that it's a powerful thing." Sasha frowned softly. "And you know how much music means to me - and to you. Do you think that music, something so inspiring and soothing and even.. even healing -- do you think it's really such a useless talent to have?"

"Around here?" He sighed, shaking his head. "I don't know sometimes." He shifted, "Well. I mean... I guess people did show up to our Auditions and everything but... All that really matters is if I can hit the target."

"Do you really feel that way? I mean.. I'm sure some people don't appreciate music the way we do. Gosh, it's safe to say that nobody appreciates music like we do, Jerry. But.. I hope you don't think that your talent - your music talent - is worthless."
She stared at him for a long time.
"It isn't."

"I like making people happy," He said quietly, fidgeting with the tuners of his guitar as they made their way upstairs.

"I like making you happy," He smiled softly, pausing to gently lower his hand to take her's.

Sasha gave a low, thoughtful hum.
"So... this means you're my boyfriend now, right?"

His face went red, although he still was smiling, holding the door open for her as they made their way to the exit to the above ground, "I'd like to think so, anyway. I'm certainly not your girlfriend, ahahaha."

"I only ask because, like.." she ducked under his arm and glanced at him in passing, pink-cheeked, "you're my best friend, too. I don't want to like.. forsake one for the other."
She cleared her throat.
"If that even makes sense."

"Well. I'd like that. I - I mean. I've never um. Had a boyfriend or a best friend before you, Jerry."
Sasha paused.
"Can we be both? I mean, can.. does that work?"

It wasn't like Jerry was any more experienced on those matters.
"I can only assume, I mean... they're basically the same thing, right? Only with more ah... k-kissing." He adjusted his glasses as their feet brought them towards grass.
