Up Ironclaw went, going and going... And the Murkrow rushed right past, as if the Skarmory hadn't seen it even coming and going!

It was only then Jasmine realised her critical error in this match... Pink goggles. Ironclaw was wearing PINK goggles, the same colour as the bird, and now, tinted pink, the Murkrow was given an automatic camouflage!

If she didn't do something soon, it would be near impossible to miss, this wasn't just a miss, this was a major tactical error they'd fumbled!

-1 TO ALL FUTURE ATK ROLLS

But here it came again, and Jasmine would bite her lip... She couldn't send Ironclaw to attack back and forth... But then again now, when it came to taking attacks, Skarmory had certain advantages over Happiny...

"Just stay the course," Jasmine bellowed upward, as Ironclaw meanwhile was about to bank.

She had no clue what the girl was up to... But she would go with it for now... And with no indication of dodging, the Murkrow would be fast upon her!

Now, Jasmine had to hope that this played out as she imagined, for what would come next...

(17 - 15 + 15 - 17 = 0dmg)

The Murkrow would catch, and as she flapped her wings and pecked away she would find her attack was useless. This wasn't the helpless happiny flesh that easily bent underneath her pecks, but something harder and stronger ....as each peck would connect but very few got through the way she wanted. Her wings flapping powerfully ...as she caw openly and screeched loudly.

Each flap of her wing would hit against the side of the pokemon's head before she would release and take back off into the air..

The Murkrow had taken the bait!

And as Jasmine watched, and Ironclaw looked back in perplexed confusion, trying to make out her would be assaulted, the Murkrow fell back into mid-air....

"Spread your wings wide!"

Ironclaw complied, even if she was unsure why, but as wingtips stretched, it was clear Jasmine's plan, as they stretched now into the trees on either side, with leaves and branches suddenly now caught by the wings razor tips!

Suddenly they were being sliced and falling back, and as they did, they would catch the Murkrow behind Ironclaw, her previously invisible form to her stunted vision now revealed by outlines of leaves and bracken thrown at her!

[THERE you are!]

"Peck!"

This trick only worked once, and now, as Ironclaw's neck dislocated, the joints elongated one by one until her head swung back, wielding her beak like a swinging guillotine, she slashed out at the pink Murkrow, intending now to color it red instead!

((EDIT: Um... Wow?))

[19-3] + [12-10] = 18 DMG
Murkrow = -7HP

It would seem that this was a trick that didn't need to work more than once ....as the pokemon's attack would cut into the Murkrow easily. Shredding it's chest in a flash of red that dripped upon the pink tinted goggles as the bird fell all at once crashing in the earth. It was badly injured as it's chest rose and fell ....showing that it was still breathing ...just barely.

This battle was over, and it was a testament to the strength of the Skarmory.

Exp gained: 62 for both Nightingale and Ironclaw

There Would be two thuds, the first was the Murkrow's injured body as it hit the ground, the second would be Ironclaw's body as she fell feet first, her feet impacting the ground unshaken as she would stand there, and flick her beak aside, dotting the grass red as she saw to clear herself of the signs of her victory won.

Then, unfolding herself again, she came forward, hovering over the bird, she would look down on it, kinder to finish the maddened beast here and now, as her neck clicked back into place, that beak was still poised...

"Give it room," Jasmine declared loud and clear to the Skarmory, who would only blink in confusion again, but still would move aside for the girl.

They had beaten the Murkrow, but that was only half the battle...

Jasmine was making her way forward, and a ball in hand, but not an empty one to try and catch it, instead, she opened it and a still dazed and injured Nightingale would emerge, bruised, but no more at least.

"Nightingale, we have work to do."

She looked at the Murkrow, just how much of a job did they have themselves cut out for?

((Should I roll a d6 to see how badly injured the Murkrow is, or will you write that part? =0))

The pokemon was near death ....there was blood from it's chest seeping into its feathers and it was obvious that it's rib cage had been cracked at the breastbone. The injuries were severe ...there was no doubt, and there had be some broken ribs in that cage as well....as the bird's breathe was labor. It's eyes already misting over, it wasn't dead, but it wasn't too far from ....as the two came close to looking after it. Already suffering from a sickness with no cure and brought so close to death one had to wonder ....if there was anything that they could do for it ...other than Ironclaw's first suggestion.

It was a pretty bad injury.

(Don't need a roll for that, it's pretty bad - healing success - must outroll 11)

"Well... How does she look?"

Nightingale didn't look up when Jasmine spoke to her, she was too busy examining the damage as it lay on display, it was bad enough when a cut went this deep, but the Happiny could see the laboured breath, the way the abdomen shifted...

Just by themselves broken ribs were bad, one was fine, two was liveable, three or more... Broken ribs could easily puncture lungs, fill them with blood, literally choke a person or Pokemon in their own blood.

The attack, plus the fall had taken their toll, and now Nightingale had a decision to make.

She turned to Jasmine, who was cleaning Ironclaw's goggles, looking up with a puffed out chest. [I need help.]

Jasmine stopped, now replacing the goggles carefully over the Skarmory's head, following her gaze to her belt, "You need me to bring someone out?"

"Who?"

Suddenly the Happiny leapt, her Pound striking, and the holster's contents flung to the ground, revealing a Gligar, Purrloin and Lampent in turn!

[Everyone!]

~~~~~~~~
Jasmine was the only one sidelined now.
She had watched on in bemusement, but it seemed like Nightingale had her plan, as Claudandas sat bemused, no more than a kitten, but left specific instruction, sitting at the head of the Murkrow, his Yawn popped, whatever sleep the Murkrow had, now it would drift into further sleep for the procedure, they didn't need it waking up midway after all...
A blast of flame caught the eye and Jasmine looked to see Burnout's head erupting in flame, before he concentrated it, slowly, into one thin stream, where Ironclaw seethed, a wingtip held close... Not enough to burn her... But enough to work over the blade, looking to sterilise it...
Lindbergh waited, puffing her chest out as her strength took over, Power Trick kicked in as her claws crushed a rock for a test, cackling happily.
Anaesthetic.
Surgical tools.
Bone fixation.
Sterilisation.
They had everything out of nothing seemingly, and Jasmine, just at the sideline with so many scraps of Material arranging them for dressings... The girl had to wonder, was medical know how like this natural to Chansey and their offspring? Or was their something more to it, the way Nightingale took charge...
Had Cheza, or someone else given her training?
She may not have had much strength in a fight, not yet anyway, but this was Nightingale's real battle now.
The battle to save a patient's life...
And as the Happiny turned to the Murkrow, satisfied emerging was ready, she nodded to Jasmine.
It was time for the real fight to begin.
Though the Happiny had neglected to acknowledge one more enemy ....the wounds were grave, but on a healthy bird it was survivable. But on one that was already succumbing to an illness on top of the injury .....the sleep was deep, but it would go deeper still. As the operation would finish, the patient's chest would continue to rise and fall normally, but, if they wait on the bird to wake ...it wouldn't happen. The bird had sunk into a coma, one that it had no chance of every rousing from .....as it lay there out ...cold.
They were finished, and this time, they would all remain out as Nightingale sighed, watching the rise and fall of the Murkrow's chest under the padded bandaging they'd placed...
The only problem with a coma of course, was it didn't look like death.
All Nightingale could tell here, without any early indication or any way to detect such a fate, was that it was still alive. The actual truth of course was, while she may technically have been so, unless something special happened, it was far from that.
[You did good, little one.] Ironclaw cooed gently as she lay on her belly, waiting as Jasmine took Cheza's cloak, wrapping it over the Murkrow and then placing it on the Skarmory's back, secured and well wrapped up, the girl with a Purrloin around her shoulders and a Gligar attached to her leg, as one Lampent looked around the scene moodily...
They must have been a rare sight indeed to have watched, more so if any had seen the operation performed.
But Nightingale was despondent, maybe somewhere in her she knew the truth... [I hope so...]
"We'll take this one back to Joy when we need to head through town again toward the other side of the island." Jasmine affirmed as she looked at the gaze she got front Happiny now seeing her without her cape, she just shrugged and grinned, adjusting her crutch.
"I can manage without it for a while I think."
"Meanwhile... We can add that to the list of things necessary to do... Including looking for our mysterious plants and all..."
The group would continue further into the area as the Wynaut would rest out in the high grasses. Tired from the disease, it would look up at them and then shuffle to lay back down. Unlike some of the other pokemon whom were in the more advance stages, this one was completely sane, and because he wasn't feeling well felt it was better to simply rest in the shade. Unless they moved to disturb him, this Wynaut wouldn't interfere in their travels.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:08 pm
The Wynaut however did not go unnoticed, with six sets of eyes to them including Jasmine, it was Burnout who spotted the creature, but seeing it resting there would have been willing to ignore it, if of course, Nightingale hadn't noticed him stop to look.
The Happiny peered over, and suddenly began waddling forward, causing the whole miniature convoy to stop. "Nightingale?"
[Just gimme a sec!] she called back, waving to them, as they would all wait, Ironclaw only sighing and checking the charge she had over her back.
Up she would move until there she was in the shade with the Wynaut, it was like all others here with its pink colors, and she bobbed her head lightly.
[I'm sorry to disturb you... I know you must not be feeling well right now... But could you help us by answering a few questions?]
(Wyyyyyyyy.....) (Why?)
The pokemon would ask. A pokemon type that offensive in the least, Nightingale was safe with this one ...as he looked at her for a legitimate answer. His answer was crossed .....as he continued to rest there.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:36 pm
Nightingale blinked, was he delirious, or just being obstinate to the question, or both?
All she could do was stand there, and keep her composure, [We're here to try and help with the illness... If you know anything, it might be helpful in us finding the cause, an dhopefully a cure?]
The Wynaut would look at her for a moment and sigh openly as he presses his head against his arm. HE really didn't want to be bothered with this.
"Naut" (What if I don't want to answer any questions?)
The pokemon would turn and look at her. Nurse or not, she was disturbing him as he waited for her answer to that question. If he didn't have to be involved, he would choose not to as he just looked at her.
