The steady rise of the intensity and frequency of the Fear spikes on the scanner was fascinating in an unsettling way. Jordan checked it again, noted uneasily that the numbers just kept rising. He tugged his scarf closer around his face and kept moving. Outside the camp, it was ******** COLD. The endless white landscape was less monotonous than expected, but the knowledge of what waited under the thick layers of ice made it more sinister than interesting. Jordan glanced around at the group, spotted Ennèa hauling one of the sleds; he made his way over to give her a hand. "How're you holding up?" he asked quietly, giving her a quick, friendly smile.

"Yes. Yes to cake. Always cake...." Even if it wouldn't be the..... Oh man, that had just depressed her, as Cass had just thought of the amazing cake Julie had brought to the Girl's Night In.
That had been an amazing cake.
"But...if we're still just doing reckon of stuff, that means we still have a chance. They wouldn't send us out here just to die, right?" Cass wasn't convinced this was true, but she was trying to find a silver lining.
Any silver lining.
Still, Cass soon had to bring it upon herself to check her FEAR scanner, just to feel productive.

Aleister grinned, "Awesome, cake for everyone." So it was settled.
He nodded, "Nawh, not intentionally anyways. We might be the lowest ranking but they need someone to do grunt work." He answered. With a shrug, as he continued moving.
He frowned when she glanced at the fear scanner. "I don't even want to know what it's up to. I'm doing my best not to jump at shadows as it is." He frowned looking around.

He had no idea how long they'd been going for but he could only hope it wouldn't be too long till they arrived. The cold was pretty ******** horrible and reminded him unpleasantly of the north pole. He kept expecting to be attacked by yetis out of nowhere.
Checking his fear scanner he really wished he hadn't. It was ridiculously high on the scale. They were dealing with something the likes of which he doubted he'd ever seen, and if everything went to s**t, the likes of which he wouldn't ******** see again.
All he could do was walk and try not to keep thinking like a penguin.

"If they keep having to get new cannon fodder, they're gonna spend a lot of time getting that ready to go rather than actually destroying things." Cass added.
Still...
Well, it was H. H would never lead her astray, right? Right? It wasn't like this was Caelius.

“ Just imagine it’s the hottest day of the summer. You know, like weather in the triple digits, and your A.C. is broken!” Molly wished she had some extra layers to hand over, but as it stood, she didn’t. Darn. She made a note to write down that the next time she knew she was coming to the Antarctic to pack more warm layers. Oh. Ouch. Molly hesitated as the topic turned towards joking about dying, and underneath her scarf she bit her lip in worry at the thought. There was that moment of awkward silence, aside from the beeps of the FEAR scanners and their boots crunching through the snow. “… It’s true!” Molly recovered after a moment. “ Then you’ll be encased in a block of ice and drift a float, and then be found by scientists and get into silly shenanigans once they’ve unthawed you. You know, like that one Scooby Doo episode.” She looked over at him, and hummed for a moment. “ Well, I got both of my feet still; I got my hands and my fingers.” She wiggled them at him. “ I’m walking next to you, and we’re among everyone…Stressing about the future never does me any good, and I think it’s just to take things as they come. I have no reason not to be in a good mood!”

Dakota continued to stare at Clerise before looking at Ryan who came over.
"Eh?" He looked at the boy.

"Well I was closer then I thought, Titan, hah. Kraken's are titans....aren't they?" Dakota looked at the snow and glared. "Your still down there watching us yeah?"
He waited a beat, looking between the two hunters.
"Clerise, this is Ryan. Ryan this is Clerise." Dakota waggled his eyebrows and pulled the FEAR scanner out again. Man it was getting pretty high. Nice.

Clerise glanced at Madison, grinning, glad for the help. "Thanks, chica!" Then Dakota was coming at her, and she waved at Ryan as she was introduced to him. "You need to show me how to stick thinks with the pointy end, doll," Clerise purred at him with a feral grin, winking as she pulled the sled along.

As Harrison smiled Marcus shook his head. "South. First he was giving me thought on my chances of survival and how low they were. Then he went to the usual." He nodded his head over in Cass's direction. "Which is less distracting now so much as annoying. I like thinking about my girl as much as the next guy but-" he stuffed a loose end of his scarf back into his coat, "Not conductive. But eh, not much I can do right?" Switching out hands he was pulling with he checked his FEAR scanner, much like the others around him. "Well s**t." He shook his head. "Five bucks we end up ******** class="quote"> Toshihiko Two

"Your weapon likes Days of Our Lives, huh? B0nez can't stand it. He thinks my love life is boring as s**t, keeps telling me to skip the cutscenes."
Harrison looked over at Marcus's scanner, which looked like it needed to be put out of its misery.
"I'll take that bet," Harrison said. If they all died, he wouldn't have to pay up. If they lived, Marcus owed him five bucks.

Ofelia was growing more aware of how cold it was and of how much she really hated the cold. Everyone around her kept talking, kept being nervous, and she really wanted to pop in and add her own two cents but really, what was there to say? People talked about being cannon fodder, people talked about the Dr. H guy being a bad man.
Ofelia was sometimes inclined to believes that people who didn't have last names either wanted to be like Cher or were hiding something serious. She was a nosy creature by nature but not really nosy enough at the moment to pick and prod at everyone's worries and fears. Her chest still ached and the cold was biting at her nose and wounds like a bad dog.
She picked up her pace while waddling when she spotted someone she knew, someone she did have a few questions for. Her pace lead her right over to Rep, and Ofelia grinned at the older red-haired man as she slowed beside him. "Hella cold, yeah?"

Rep was very much wrapped up in his own thoughts as he walked along, hardly even feeling the cold for whatever reason, simply focused on the task at hand and doing it right. He felt well rested and back on top form again after the rest at the camp and was running over what they could potentially face when Ofie knocked him out of his thoughts.
He gave her a sidelong look, made aware of the cold by the mention of it, realising his hands were getting pretty numb. "******** yeah, but what d'you expect? Its the Antarctic or whatever. Cold to the maximum." It'd been easier to stand as a penguin, even that water that would have killed him on the spot
"Its cool anyway, we'll all probably be dead in a bit anyway." Morbid, sure, but he was in a good mood, it was clear he wasn't that fussed.

"Hmmmm." That seemed to be all Ofelia wanted to say but poor Rep couldn't have been so lucky. "Ah f'gur. Rue was downright cheerin' fer that tentacle-thing earlier ta come an' kill me, but somehow Ah managed ta get away. Ruined mah shirt though on account'a mah wound reopenin'." She turned and opened her jacket slightly, the cold running in and embracing her frame like an unwelcome guest. It was enough just to show a hint of the dark and gross shade of purple her once blue shirt had now turned, and the jacket was buttoned back up with shivering and shaking hands.
"So, other than dyin' out here in the cold, what else ya think is gonna happen? Ah wonder if its possible ta eat sommin' made'a monster-y stuff, considerin' octopus or squid or whatever the hell it is could taste mighty good." Ofelia liked calamari well enough.
