The young man was obviously the most eager for the battle and accordingly was the first to issue a command to his kick boxing chicken. “Combusken, Focus Energy!” Following in quick succession was the rest of the commands. “Twinkers, Encore that Combusken” “Kirlia, use Confusion on that Smeargle.” “Remmy, Swift now.” Errol looked mad as Combusken gathered its power, embers being shed from its body and wafting upwards in a fiery aura. He new that it was a waste of time, the impending Encore would make it impossible for Combusken to do anything else for quite a while. All of that power and not being able to use it really was maddening. Twinkers fired off a pale red beam at the Combusken and it formed a pale red sphere around the fiery fowl. The sphere then snapped tight around the Combusken, locking its last move into repeat. Remmy jumped high in the air and his tail swiped a large blue arc in the air. Around twenty blue stars flew from the trail of the blue arc. Half of the stars struck each of the opposing Pokemon unerringly, exploding on impact in a shower of blue sparkles. Before he could land from the move the Kirlia had finished its own move. Having raised its hands to its temples and concentrating the psychic energy it had unleashed it just before the stars had hit. The result was a sphere of swirling golden rings centered on the Smeargle, who was knocked up into the air again only to land heavily afterwards. Kirlia and Cathy’s Smeargle both got back up on their feet as the commands kept coming. “Combusken return, Go Nidorino!” called the angry sounding young man. “Twinkers, Copy Cat that Confusion and hit Nidorino!” “Remmy, Bone Club on Kirlia” Cathy called with a little more emotion. “Teleport away Kirlia!” replied the young woman picnicker.
The young man held up a Pokeball and Combusken was recalled in a zigzagging bolt of red light. He took a second ball from his belt and threw the ball to release a pointy purple Pokemon, the Pokeball bouncing back to his hand. The Pokemon growled angrily, mimicking the young mans emotion. However, the growl was cut short by a familiar looking hemisphere of undulating golden circles. Twinkers had produced the same effect in the same manner, but the power of the move was a little less than the Kirlia’s original. That didn’t make much difference in the end, as the psychic move was super effective against the Poison Pin Pokemon. The moves power sent the Nidorino flying from the radius to land in a dusty cloud.

Remmy in the meantime, had drawn a blue tinted bone in the air and grabbed as it hung in mid-air. In the same fluid motion he began a charge against the elegant Pokemon before him, however the painted bone club did not get to connect – just before contact the Kirlia flickered and distorted before disappearing completely from where it was with a small pop sound. Remmy looked around trying to find the Kirlia, but without success, the Kirlia had teleported behind her trainer and out of direct line of sight of the frantically searching Smeargle.
“Remmy, Swift!” Cathy was becoming more emotionally invested in the battle as it dragged out. “Nidorino, Horn attack on that Clefairy!” the young man was still angry. “Kirlia, Magical Leaf! Counter that Swift!” The auburn haired young lady was still quiet and rather calm about the battle and her part in it. “Twinkers, turn on the charm.”
Cathy’s Smeargle once again launched a stream of blue tinted stars from his tail, and again the star stream split into two groups of around a dozen stars each, one arcing its way around the young woman to try and strike at the Kirlia from behind and the other arcing at the Nidorino even as it began to charge Twinkers. Kirlia had at the same time summoned a swarm of shimmering leaves that shot out to intercept the incoming stars causing both attacks to explode into a shimmering shower of sparkles that showcased Errol’s picnic partner spectacularly even as she moved out of the way. Akane couldn’t help but have her eyes drawn too it as she admired the sheer beauty of the move. The magical leaf attack also managed to intercept several of the stars that were bound for the charging purple Pokemon, though many still hit home. The stars seemed to do little to deter it from its attack, but the looks on Twinkers’ face slowed the powerful charge and the almost apologetic attack that landed was much weaker than it could have been, barely pushing the Fairy Pokemon back at all. The young man known as Errol wasn’t actually angry for once for he was too busy gazing adoringly at his companion as she was showered majestically with the aftermath of the colliding attacks. “Good job Nidorino” the young man encouraged as he returned his attention to the battle. The comment made it painfully obvious he was unaware of the ineffectiveness of the purple Pokemon’s attack. “Keep up that pressure.”
Taking his trainers words to heart, the Nidorino continued jabbing away with its Horn Attack, this time a little more aggressively than his previous attempt. “Remmy! Thunderbolt!” barked Cathy. “Kirlia! Confusion!” the attractive young picnicker replied.

“Copy that Confusion!” said a somewhat flustered Akane. That Nidorino was to close for Akane’s comfort, if it stayed there it would definitely have the advantage. She hoped that Twinkers could pull off the move without any difficulties. Remmy’s blue tipped tail quickly drew a jagged blue line in the air and just as he was done it crackled to life, looking every inch like it came straight from a Saturday morning cartoon. The bolt shot up like a crackling blue missile and arced down to strike at the elegant Emotion Pokemon, landing with the gunshot sound of thunder. Kirlia was not idle however, and managed to focus her mental energies and release them at her assailant before the thunderbolt struck home. The now familiar bubble of popped into existence around the Sketch Pokemon, the bubbles surface a confusing cacophony of golden circles. The attack sent Remmy flying back towards Cathy in a cloud of dust. Backpedaling and defending herself from the assault as best as she could, Twinkers had no option but to wait for the Kirlia to make it’s move. The Poison Pin Pokemon’s attacks stung as she conceded a lot of ground waiting for the right time. Aha! Finally the timing was right and Twinkers launched her own psychic attack. The hemisphere of coruscating golden rings erupted as expected but centered on the Nidorino it managed to catch Twinkers in its blast radius. Her opponent was flung back towards Errol and landed in his own dusty cloud. The plucky Clefairy was also knocked back, though not as far.
As the respective dust clouds cleared the aftermath was evident. Errol’s Nidorino lay unconscious at the angry young trainer’s feet. Twinkers slowly got up slowly, dusty and scratched but still with determination on her face. Akane couldn’t help but wonder if Twinkers should sit it out for a while, let Colandra take a turn out and her Clefairy have a short rest. The thought was cemented when she saw the condition of Remmy. He got back up after the last hit but was definitely looking worse for wear, but more telling was the drunken wobble that he had – that last attack must have confused the poor Smeargle. Cathy made an annoyed tsk sound as she retrieved the Remmy’s Pokeball from her pocket and recalled Remmy without a word. That was enough for Akane and she too decided to swap Pokemon.
“Twinkers, come back. Lets give Colandra a turn” Akane called. “You did great.” The young trainer spared a smile for her bestest friend before releasing her Oddish from its Pokeball. “Let’s see what you’ve got Colandra.”
Marcel got up from the construction barricade he was sitting on and took position too, apparently having to walk into a strong headwind that nobody else could feel to do so. Cathy sighed and looked down at the ground, quite plainly wondering why she had pokemon that were such big goofballs.

So, Ryka and Kasiya had had a plan now. If either of them heard anything about Jaeshan - just a small rumor or a really big lead - they'd contact one another and investigate. It admittedly made Kasiya feel a little better, though once she'd hung up the phone with Ryka, she immediately dialed Jaeshan's number and listened patiently to the rings until the line operator told her the call could not be completed at this time, and to try again later. Naturally she retried right away, but of course, got the same result.
Her heart was still a bit heavy as she headed in pretty much the same direction she'd been going just before she'd run into Haruka. The signs along the way said that if she continued down this path, she'd come across a waterfall, and something called the Weather Institute. Kasiya hazarded a guess that they studied weather patterns there so she had no real reason to check it out, and besides, the waterfall seemed a lot more interesting. She recapped the battle in her head as she walked, trying to pinpoint exactly what had gone wrong. Well, what hadn't gone wrong would have been a much shorter list, and she sighed loudly to herself. Haruka had certainly schooled her that time. Can't win them all, Kasiya thought, though she was impressed with Nova's progress. The Charmeleon had managed to defeat both the Hippopotas (albeit weakened a little by Alphonse) and the Staravia, and she had lost to a Water-type. Kasiya never read too much into type match ups, as there were ways for them to be overcome, but she and Nova hadn't done any special 'water defense training' or anything like that. At least not yet. As for Alphonse, well, the Piplup was certainly spirited, but the fact that he disobeyed her commands more than once reminded her that she needed to spend a lot more time training with the little Penguin. Professor Rowan had been deceptively accurate when he'd described the Piplup to be 'obstinate.'
Last, but certainly not least was Twilight, and Kasiya wasn't sure what to think there. In the short time she had spent with the Umbreon, he'd appeared to be quiet, somewhat distant and reluctant to battle. He'd started the battle that way, too, but with each passing round he seemed to get more and more into it, and towards the end his boldness had even started to remind her of Flash, Twilight's brother. It just proved to Kasiya that she needed to spend more time with the newer additions to her party. As if summoned by her thoughts, just then there was a small flash of light and Alphonse now stood in front of her, his beady little eyes narrowed into thin, black slits. "Alphonse? What's up?"
=-=-=-=-= Erika's tone of voice was almost more off-putting than the fact that her Pokemon was utterly helpless. The gym leader commanded her Pokemon with a quiet ferocity, something the redheaded challenger never would have expected in a gym specifically for Grass-types, and Karrigan was rendered speechless as Erika's Ivysaur charged in and smashed its body into Ikouma. The Sneasel rolled several feet across the grassy ground, a painful expression etched onto his face, and though he twitched slightly, he did not stir. Karrigan felt a sharp jab in her stomach, like she might vomit, but she managed to compose herself, and stood tall despite the huge disadvantage she was now at. "Ikouma, Ice Punch!" she called again, her voice quavering only slightly despite the panic she felt. Again, the Dark/Ice-type twitched, though the movement was only in accordance with his dreams, which were dark, troubled, and painful.
=-=-=-=-= Erika resisted the urge to wince as her Ivysaur's powerful Take Down hit home, sending the Sneasel rolling across the grass. She more than half-expected him to awaken from such a rude and strong hit, but curiously enough, he slept on. Ivysaur himself was a bit staggered from the recoil of his own attack, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle and he shook himself out, looking back at Erika as he awaited his next command.
The gym leader pursed her lips, silently debating on what to do next. She wasn't sure how much more her opponent could take before his trainer would be forced to switch him out, and her own Pokemon was plenty healthy. "Razor Leaf," she called finally, less of an edge in her voice this time around.
"Sauur!" the leafy Pokemon called, once again giving his body a shake, but this time with the purpose of shaking free a flurry of leaves which he then sent flying toward the still-sleeping Sneasel.
((Sorry Lala, but I've still got so many posts queued up =( ))

The stubborn little water bird began waving his flippers around and stomping his feet. Kasiya was sure he was trying to be all angry and intimidating with his little tantrum, but in actuality the Piplup's antics were adorable to her. "Oh Al," she said, kneeling down and resting her hand on his head. "It's okay that we lost, it just means that we have to try a little harder next time, right?"
The Piplup stopped flailing and looked up at her. For a moment, Kasiya was certain he was going to leap up and try to peck her eyes out, but instead he took a few wobbly steps forward and patted her leg with the tip of his flipper. "Pip," he said, giving a fierce little nod, and Kasiya took that as a sign of understanding. Kasiya giggled and scooped him up in her arms, and Al struggled for all of four seconds before he became content to just be carried, and after about five minutes or so, had fallen asleep, snuggling in his trainer's arms. He was, after all, still a very young Pokemon and just because his health had been restored, his energy hadn't, and it seemed like it was the perfect time for a little nap. Kasiya looked down at the small blue penguin snoozing quietly in her arms and smiled. Alphonse may have acted like a tough guy, but it was easy for Kasiya to see that he had a soft side to him as well. Just like Keegan, she thought with a giggle. Just thinking of the redhead's name made her wonder where he had gone off to last night, and what his next plans were. She didn't even know if he'd stayed in Lavaridge Town the night before, or if he had moved on to some place else, like she had. She did know that he was eager to go and earn a badge from the gym leader in Petalburg City - Nathan? Norrin? She couldn't quite remember the name, but she could sort of see his face as she'd seen the end result of Mike's victorious battle against him.
Mike. Thinking of her dear friend made her chest tighten and her heart race erratically. Now that they had utterly destroyed the Team Magma base, would he be able to move on? Would he be able to find peace? Would he ever learn to forgive himself? She wasn't sure, but she did hope that if anything, putting an end to the organization that had been largely at fault for what he'd been through had to be a start, at the very least. Of course she wondered about the rest of her friends as well; Mitsu, Kilik, Sasha, Flannery, even Winona. What would they all be doing now? Would Kilik and Mitsu head back to the Sinnoh region? What about Sasha? Would Winona and Flannery be able to resume their duties as gym leaders and act like nothing had even happened?

Train waited anxiously as Oddish hesitantly began to make a move. Unfortunately (for Train, at least), rather than use an Acid attack as commanded, the timid Pokémon released a small collection of green bubbles, which aimed right for the Meowth. The Scratch Cat Pokémon nimbly dodged the orbs, however, and they floated on before disappearing completely.
Oddish was taken aback that her attack had missed, but had little time to process the fact before the Meowth had jumped on her with a Bite again, digging his teeth into her little plant body. She let out a cry of pain and Train grit her teeth in displeasure, waiting until the Meowth was off of her Pokémon before speaking up again.
”See, Oddish? You can’t always rely on the same attack…you have to try to trust me. I just want to help you get stronger.” Train sighed a bit, glancing between the two Pokémon before making another command, as Oddish didn’t seem to be moving on her own at the moment. ”Try using your Poisonpowder attack, Oddish,’ She encouraged her Pokémon, hooking her thumbs in her back pockets as she waited to see what Oddish would do.+=+=+=+ Ghos was slowly surrounded by balls of blue fire, which then quickly shot out towards the Taillow, hitting it straight on. At first it appeared as though the attack hadn’t done anything, but then the spot where the Taillow had been hit began to look singed and burnt. The Flying-type began to glow as it used a Focus Energy, cringing shortly after as it began to feel the pain from its burn.

There was an earsplitting shriek that rang through the forest gym as Robin wondered if it was to early in her life to die of a heart attack. To say that the voice behind her had scared her would be like saying that Charizard were big and Machamps were strong. After the initial surprise wore off she cast a wide eyed look behind her. Scared blue eyes spotted the younger girl behind her and she stared at her for just a moment before she gave her a shaky smile. "Hello."
Like most things Robin quickly forgot she was afraid as she turned around and looked at the girl more directly. If she knew pretty much any more about this regions gym leaders she would probably recognize who exactly was standing in front of her. "Um, sorry about screaming?" She wasn't quite sure what to say here. That might have been more of an apology to Luffy who was looking up at her vaguely annoyed and holding his large, probably ringing ears. "So um, I am looking for the gym leader." She paused for a second. "Would you happen to know where they are?" Maybe this girl would tell her? She hoped she didn't get challenged to a battle like most gym trainers tended to do in gyms.

'Great.' Dante thought to himself as he watched the washing machine float up into the air. Looks like he would be the only one dealing with the bouncing. Dante wished again that Kenny had waited to evolve a little longer, at least then they could float to. Still he was a little grateful of it as the larger and tougher ghost pokemon took the attack with ease dark shadows exploding from him in a way that Dante was sure Angelic and taught him to do. He might not be as fast but he was certainly more bulky and was one of the few ghost pokemon that could take a hit like that. If Kenny had been in his Duskull form then that attack would have done some serious damage to him.
Dante was about to call out an attack when he realized that he should probably do something to help him out a bit first. He didn't know to much about elegant battling, dispite his somewhat girly appearance he pretty much knew brute force and he was good at tactics when he felt like using them. Now was one of those times he should probably think on tactics. "Confuse Ray." He called out doing his best to appear uncaring about this whole thing. On the battlefield Kenny lifted one of the detached hands and sent a bright ray out towards the floating washing machine. That electric attack had hurt and he wanted some payback!

Kasiya's mind continued to wander as she walked along, hardly noticing that she'd since left the outskirts of Fortree City and beyond. She didn't clue in as to how far she'd actually wandered until the sound of rushing water found her ears and roused her from her thoughts, and she studied the lovely waterfall for a few moments, watching the white waves crash down into the blue water below, only to be carried off by the current of the river. She watched the lovely patterns the many ripples made, wondering if any Water-type Pokemon lived in this area. In her arms, Alphonse lazily opened one eye to see what all the noise was about, but when he saw the water he let out a happy squeak and jumped from Kasiya's arms and practically danced over to the water's edge. For a moment, Kasiya expected him to dive right in, but he'd stopped and was looking back at her, almost as though he were looking for her to give him permission first.
"Go ahead," the blonde-haired girl told the Piplup with a smile, and the penguin waved his flippers around happily before jumping into the water with a big splash. It wasn't nearly as cold as he would have liked, but it was refreshing enough for now and he was quite elated to be able to swim again. Kasiya couldn't help but giggle as she watched the little penguin splash and play around, and out of the corner of her eye she could just see the roof of a building rising up above the trees in the distance. She guessed it was the Weather Institute, but again she had no real reason for going there, so she focused her attention back on Alphonse. She let him swim for a while longer before she called him back, and now the two continued to walk along the route, crossing over a few short wooden bridges and some areas filled with lovely trees before their progress was abruptly cut off by what seemed to be a wall of extremely tall grass. It was easily over Kasiya's head in places, and she wore a frown as she exchanged glances with Al.
"I don't like it," she murmured.
=-=-=-=-= By now, nearly all the confidence Karrigan had carried into this gym with her had dissipated, and she watched her sleeping Pokemon with near-expressionless, green eyes. I can't let Ikouma take another hit like that, she thought, glancing quickly across the arena to where Erika stood. She'd been expecting the gym leader to attack again with another hard-hitting strike, but she seemed to be weighing her options, and finally settled on a Razor Leaf attack. The Seed Pokemon unleashed a barrage of sharp, swift leaves that quickly covered the distance between the two Pokemon. A bit of luck was on Karrigan's side this time as only some of the leaves seemed to hit their mark, while most of them struck the ground around where the Sneasel lay. The sharp leaves biting into him, however, seemed to snap him awake, and Ikouma pulled himself to his feet, still looking very groggy.
Karrigan wanted nothing more than to have him rush in there and pummel the Ivysaur with Ice Punches, but after being subjected to the Sleep Powder, she knew that attacking from a distance was the key. However, Ikouma lacked any long-range moves entirely, except for Icy Wind which he hadn't quite learned yet. So, Karrigan also thought carefully, watching the gym leader and her Pokemon before settling on a command. "Faint Attack," she called out finally. The Dark-type move was difficult to predict, and it never missed. Hopefully Ikouma would be able to take a chunk out of the Ivysaur after it had been weakened by his previous Screech.
The Sneasel, still shaking off the sleepiness, gave a curt nod, and began to dash forward. After about four steps he vanished in a wisp of black haze, reappearing a moment or so later behind the Ivysaur. "Snee!" he screeched, lashing out with his sharp claws for the attack. Take that!
=-=-=-=-= Erika bit her bottom lip as Ivysaur's Razor Leaf was less than stellar, but it did hit its mark somewhat before having the unfortunate side-effect of waking the Sneasel up. Granted, he seemed slow to recover, but Erika knew that she probably wouldn't get a chance to put him to sleep a second time. True to form, Karrigan set the Dark/Ice-type on the attack again, and Erika smiled. Perhaps another dousing of Sleep Powder was in order. She readied the counterattack on her tongue, waiting for an opportune time to unleash another cloud of spores, but before she could get a chance, the Sneasel vanished. "What?!" the normally-calm gym leader called, but as the scene unfolded, she began to understand. The Sneasel appeared behind her surprised Ivysaur, who could do nothing but cry out from the sucker punch he'd just taken. He staggered back, looking hurt, and Erika furrowed her brow: it seemed another lucky critical hit had landed in the redhead's favor.
"Ivysaur, hang in there!" the gym leader called, her expression serious. "Fight back with your Giga Drain!" No, after her initial expectations of this match, she would not lose, not now. Ivysaur gave a roar, his two, long vines extending and beginning to glow as he began to concentrate on drawing out the Sneasel's energy in hopes of stealing it for himself.

"Pip," agreed Alphonse. Kasiya could imagine herself wandering into the jungle of grass and easily losing her way, which wasn't something she was jumping at the chance for. She had no way of knowing just how far this grassy maze could extend for, and she didn't know what kind of Pokemon could be lurking in the area either. Kasiya had been just about ready to turn around and head back towards Fortree when a strange cry rang out and echoed through the area. It sent chills down Kasiya's spine and she froze in place, wondering if it had been her imagination. At her feet, Alphonse had heard it too, and the little penguin's head tilted to the side as he listened closely. The cry came a second time, sounding distant, and almost like whatever was making the noise was in pain.
Still not wanting to chance losing herself in the tall, tall grass, Kasiya opted not to investigate, instead motioning to Al to follow her as she turned and started to walk away. Except, there was one small problem - there was no Al to motion to. A nervous flutter caused Kasiya's heart to skip a beat as she looked around for her suddenly missing Piplup. She even called his name a few times, but of course, he didn't show up. She looked down at the ground where he'd once been standing, seeing that his tiny little feet had left tracks right up to the start of the tall grass, and of course, instead of turning around and heading back, they lead right inside.
Of course he went in there, Kasiya thought with a sigh, wishing she'd thought to put him back in his Pokeball when she had the chance, but there wasn't much one could do when they had perfect hindsight, not foresight. She called out his name again, this time hearing him from somewhere within the tall grass, and she sighed again, closing her eyes. Why me? she thought, praying she'd see daylight again someday as she exhaled and stepped over the threshold. "Al, please come back," she called, though she quickly lowered her voice so that it was barely above her normal tone. Whatever it was that had made that noise was in here somewhere, and she really didn't want to alert it to her presence, especially since she had no real clue as to where she was going. The grass was fairly thick in places and she couldn't even see Alphonse's footprints. It was still fairly damp in the grass as well, for the sun's rays didn't reach down far enough to fully dry everything off from the dew. The edges of her skirt and the tops of her white socks were already soaked, but she was grateful for the hiking boots as they were made for this kind of thing.

"Come on, Alphonse! Get back over here! Right now!" the girl said, her teeth grit in annoyance as a wet blade of grass slapped her across cheek while another one left a small cut on her arm. She pushed on forward, already having lost track of how far she'd gone into the tall grass, even though it hadn't been that long at all. Shortly after that, she stumbled into a small clearing, which was probably only about four feet long and wide in area, and as she studied the ground she saw not only the small, Piplup-sized tracks in the soft soil, but larger ones, as well. The grass had also been cut, about an inch above the ground, by something obviously sharp, and big. Definitely big. "What is this, someone's bad attempt at a crop circle or something?" she wondered aloud, following the small footprints as they once again disappeared into the grass. "Alphonse! Where are you?" she called, chancing to raise her voice a little. He called back to her, his voice sounding a little closer now, and she trudged on, slowly getting better and faster at weaving her way through the tall stalks of grass. She tripped over a largish rock at one point but managed to keep herself from falling, and finally she broke through into another clearing, though this one was completely natural, and also, to her relief, contained her missing Piplup. "Al!" she scolded, quickly bending down and snatching him up in her arms. "What's the big idea wandering off like that-" she cut herself off very abruptly as she realized that she and Alphonse were not alone in the clearing.
Two figures, both of whom were wearing eerily familiar uniforms, stood with their backs to Kasiya, seemingly interested in something behind them. It was a Pokemon Kasiya knew she had seen before, and only when the Pokemon weakly raised its head to look at Kasiya did one of the uniformed young males realize they weren't alone anymore. "Hey, Ralph, we've got company," he said, nudging his friend in the ribs with an elbow.
"Hmm?" the other whirled around to face her, and Kasiya felt her blood surge. Both were young men, probably no older than she was and both carried large sticks. The thing that caused her temper to flare was the fact that both sported the telltale red and black uniforms of Team Magma, and Kasiya quickly realized that these two probably had yet to find out what had happened to their base, and the rest of their Team. "What have we here? Looks like a little lost mouse."
"A little lost mouse and her chubby blue bird," Ralph sneered, taking a step forward. Al wriggled in Kasiya's arms, wanting nothing more than to hop down and blast the jerk away with a Bubble attack, but Kasiya held him tightly and the two grunts continued to laugh at him.

Keegan and Eithne walked in silence, save for the occasional panting coming from the Fire-type as she continued to walk diligently at her trainer's side. He didn't know why, but the redhead was strangely ecstatic with the newest addition to his team. At one point, he snatched up a stick from the ground and threw it, and the Puppy Pokemon gave chase, her claws tearing up the ground with each step. She's energetic, I'll give her that,' he thought, unable to keep himself from wondering what Kasiya's Arcanine, Hiro, had been like when he was still a Growlithe. Even though he was still a bit pissed about her taking off the night before without so much as a word, he'd pretty much gotten over it by now, figuring that everyone would need their space after yesterday's events. I'll have to ask her about it next time, he mused, unable to recall if she'd ever mentioned it. Regardless, he was happy to have her, and he laughed as she had retrieved the stick and dropped it by his feet, the wagging of her bushy tail indicative of her eagerness for him to throw it again. "Let's think of it as speed and stamina training," he murmured, knowing there was no way he'd ever be able convince any of his other Pokemon to fetch a stick.
They kept the game up until they finally reached the entrance to the Petalburg Woods, stopping once for Eithne to get a drink out of the nearby pond. She was panting pretty heavily by now, and though Keegan was sure he'd tired her out pretty good, the Growlithe seemed to be insistent to continue on. Despite this, Keegan slowed their pace a bit, stopping to scratch the canine behind her ears. "Good girl. Let's go." The redhead took a deep breath, already feeling very stupid due to his irrational fear. He kindly reminded himself that they were called irrational for a reason, but that didn't seem to make him feel any better. "Hey, Eith," he said, looking down at the Fire-type, "if you see any bugs, and they get too close, burn 'em." The Puppy Pokemon tilted her head, not sure that was so wise with all the greenery around. Seeing his Pokemon's apprehension, Keegan corrected himself. "Err, maybe you should just use Roar to keep them at bay instead?"
About ten minutes and eight Roars later, Keegan was finding it easier and easier to manage his phobia. They'd even managed accidentally chased off a now-terrified Zigzagoon, but Keegan didn't care. After the tenth Roar, Pokemon were going out of their way to avoid them entirely, which made the trip that much easier. The nice thing about the woods was that if you were traveling south, there were many high, narrow ledges that were easy to jump down from, cutting off a large portion of the forest and subsequent travel time. The Woods were expansive, but not overly, and Keegan found himself beginning to count his paces as the edge of the woods drew nearer and nearer. ===== "He says they're not a couple, but I don't believe them," the trainer named Krista said, nudging her own boyfriend in the ribs with her elbow.
"I don't know," Greg answered, his voice hushed, like his girlfriends, "she seems a bit young, don't you think?"
Lee rolled his eyes. "Whatever, think what you want, just send out your Pokemon already," he grumbled, holding up a Great Ball and releasing his Houndoom. The canine was already snarling fiercely as he exited the sphere, glancing once to Miharu before it realized she'd be teaming up with her master. Miharu didn't really hesitate to pick her Pokemon, either, quickly releasing Sparkle, her ever-cheerful Ampharos.
"Why do they think we're boyfriend and girlfriend?" the green-haired girl whispered, keeping her gaze forward as Krysta released her own Pokemon, a happy-looking Clefable. Greg was a bit more hesitant to release his, but when he did, a hefty-looking Wartortle graced them with its presence.
"I don't know," Lee answered, not bothering to lower his voice. "You take the Wartortle, I got the Clefable," he added. Miharu nodded, though she wasn't sure Lee had to tell her that. "Houndoom, light that thing up, Flamethrower," he said, folding his arms over his chest. The Dark and Fire-type didn't hesitate to unleash a torrent of flames at the Fairy Pokemon. Miharu, in the meantime, had given Sparkle the okay to use Thunderbolt on the Turtle Pokemon, and the Ampharos let the lightning bolt fly, as well.
"Wartortle, use Protect," Greg called. The Water-type quickly threw up a glowing, green barrier, just in the nick of time as the Thunderbolt smashed into it and arched off harmlessly into the ground nearby.
"Clefable, please use Water Pulse," Krysta said, her arm linked with Greg's. The pink fairy Pokemon held up its hands, quickly forming a small, blue orb of water which it fired off at the oncoming Flamethrower. It struck the flames with a loud hiss, causing the two attacks to be cancelled out. As the steam rolled off the 'battlefield', the four trainers simply studied one another, all anxious to get the next round underway. ===== The crowd seemed to be enjoying the battle between Ghost-types, though the Cowboy gave a bit of a curse as he heard the girly-looking trainer across from him call for a Confuse Ray. He also wasn't the most elegant of battlers, but he had done pretty well the last few times he'd entered these contests, so he hooked his thumbs through his belt loops and looked up at his Rotom-W. "Go on an' give 'em yer Thunda Wave," he called, his voice thick with a southern drawl.
The flashing ray came quicker than Rotom-W anticipated, and before it knew it, its whole world went blurry and contorted. It hadn't forgotten its trainer's orders, however, and it quickly generated the weak, paralyzing current of electricity. The trampoline-lined floor, however, made predicting the Dusclops' movements tricky, and it was likely the attack would miss, unless you were the super-unlucky sort...

"My goodness, what a pair of lungs you have on you," Gardenia said in reference to Robin's scream, now rubbing her temples gingerly, though she smiled and waved off Robin's apology. "No, no, I'm sorry about scaring you," she added somewhat sheepishly. She glanced down at the Ambipom, who also seemed to have suffered from the scream. She looked back at the red headed girl as she answered the initial question Gardenia had asked, and she couldn't help but smile. Obviously this girl was new around here, otherwise she'd definitely recognize that the gym leader was standing right in front of her. At first, Gardenia opened her mouth to introduce herself, but she decided against it just now, figuring she could have a bit more fun. "Weeelll," she said, looking around thoughtfully, "I think I could probably lead you to her. Would you two please follow me?" she asked, almost unable to suppress her laughter as she beckoned for the girl and her Ambipom to follow her.

While Alphonse fumed over being called chubby, Kasiya looked past the two Magma grunts at the Pokemon, her eyes widening with the realization of what it was. "Tropius," she whispered, though it was notably smaller than the one belonging to Winona - a baby, perhaps - and that it was rather upset and scared. It also appeared to be injured, and as she eyed the two boys, and the sticks they carried, she quickly put two and two together. "What are you doing to that poor Tropius?" she demanded, her fearlessness once again shining through.
"It's none of your business," Ralph retorted. "Beat it, Blondie, and take your fat little bird with you!" He turned around and laughed before he swung the stick with all his might, catching the Tropius in the shoulder and leaving a fresh, painful-looking gash. The young Tropius wailed in pain, and right away Kasiya realized that it had been this poor Pokemon making the awful noise the whole time.
"Stop that," she nearly screeched, her rage surging even more than before. "Leave it alone! It's just a baby! What did it ever do to you?!" Alphonse squirmed even harder in his trainer's arms, desperate to get free in order to defend his honor. How dare they call him chubby and fat - didn't they know that was just his downy feathers, designed to protect him from the cold?
"It didn't do anything," the second grunt said, smirking and shrugging. He too took a swing at the Fruit Pokemon with his stick. "Baby or not, this here's a wild Pokemon, and we're gonna catch it!" He hit the young Tropius again and it cried out, obviously too frightened and hurt to try and flee.
The first grunt had taken a few steps towards Kasiya and Alphonse, the stick he carried held like a weapon. "You'd better get lost, or Team Magma is gonna have to teach you a lesson, just like this pathetic Pokemon, here."
At that, Kasiya scoffed, and shook her head. They really didn't have a clue as to what had happened to the rest of their organization. "Team Magma?" she laughed, "please. Your stupid team is finished. My friends and I saw to that yesterday. I guess you two morons missed the memo or something." Meanwhile, Alphonse had finally wriggled free and jumped down to the ground, shaking his flipper at the two humans and yelling something fierce in Pokemon talk. Kasiya didn't know exactly what he was saying, but she could guess that he was outraged.
The two young grunts exchanged glances, looking a bit surprised by the girl's words, but then they both grinned and looked back to the blonde girl. "You're lying," Ralph growled, holding up a Pokeball. "We don't take too kindly to liars. We should teach her a lesson, shouldn't we, Steve?"

"Yeah, we really should. There's no way you or your loser friends could even find Team Magma's base, let alone get in. And even if you did, Maxie and the other Admins would have stomped you flat in seconds." Ralph's face was twisted into a sneer, making him look somewhat intimidating.
"You'll see," was all Kasiya said, shrugging her shoulders. Alphonse stopped his shouting and looked up at his trainer, a bit impressed. She was so calm, so strong in the face of these bullies!
"Heh, yeah, sure," Steve growled, looking over at the other grunt. Both he and his partner were now holding up Pokeballs, seemingly ready to duke it out the good old-fashioned way, but since neither of them had released their Pokemon yet, Kasiya assumed that while they didn't believe her, they didn't seem to fully disbelieve her, either.
"You know," the girl said, deciding to press her luck a little, "it's actually a little sad. Sad that Maxie and the other higher-ups you were talking about didn't even bother to inform the two of you - a pair of scum-sucking, bottom-feeding, lowly little grunts - that the whole team was forced to disband. Maxie's probably sitting in jail right now, getting fitted for his pretty new prison oranges. Yep, definitely sad." Kasiya smiled sweetly, almost a little surprised by her words. It wasn't really like her to taunt others like that, but she'd seen enough of those stupid Magma uniforms to last a lifetime. That, and seeing what they'd done to the poor, terrified Tropius behind them made her want to see them pay. "Go ahead. Call him - call any of them if you don't believe me. You'll see." In front of her, Alphonse returned to shooting death glares in the two boys' direction, though after Kasiya dared them to call their boss, his expression softened and he looked to the dual Flying and Grass-type, trying to reassure her that it would be okay.
Again the two young Magmas exchanged glances, both seemingly afraid to call the blonde girl's bluff. "Call him," Steve said, taking his phone from his pocket and shoving it in Ralph's face.
"No way, man, you call him," Ralph retorted, pushing right back. After a bit of a heated shoving/name calling/slapping match, Steve muttered to himself and pressed a few buttons on his phone. His expression was hard to read as he waited for an answer, and when the line clicked he turned his back to the rest of them. If there was a conversation it didn't last long, and soon the grunt faced them again, his face ashen. "What's up?" Ralph demanded.
"The main line is disconnected. I was redirected to a voice mail from Courtney. It seems… it seems…" Steve trailed off, having difficulty forming words. Kasiya simply smirked.
"What is it?!" Ralph demanded again.
Steve shook his head, his face still white as a sheet. "That girl... she's right. Maxie's in police custody and all active members have been ordered to cease operations immediately. She's right, Team Magma's no more."

At first, Ralph was utterly silent. One could see the wheels in his head turning as he took in what Steve had just said. Finally, it clicked, and his face turned bright red, matching his uniform. "Whaaat?" he roared, his fists now shaking in rage and disbelief. "This can't be happening!" He whirled to face Kasiya, pointing an accusing finger at her. "You! You did this! You and your friends! Orders or not, we're going to make you pay for what you've done! We'll take revenge on you for our leader, Maxie!" The ex-Magma then hurled his Pokeball forward and it practically crashed against the ground. From it came a Pokemon that bounced up and down on two very strong-looking legs and feet. It took Kasiya a few minutes to recognize it - it was the evolved form of Torchic but she couldn't quite recall its name. Steve, definitely a bit slower to figure things out, took a cue from his partner and released his Pokemon as well, revealing a small, mouse-like Pokemon that Kasiya recognized instantly as a Cyndaquil. Again, she smiled.
Fire-types, of course, Kasiya thought, resisting the urge to roll her eyes as she withdrew her PokeDex to quickly scan the first Pokemon. Combusken, that's it, she thought sadly, now wondering what had happened to Jaeshan's Pokemon. A quick glance to Alphonse was enough to let her know that he was up for this. He stomped forward before coming to a halt, now standing with his chest puffed out and flippers planted on his hips as he cast a defiant look at both the Cyndaquil and Combusken. Despite the Piplup's ambition, Kasiya refused to let the young Pokemon do this by himself so she selected another Pokeball in order to aid the Piplup. "You Magma jerks will like this Pokemon," she said, smirking as she released her own fire-breather, Nova. The Charmeleon sized up her opponents and let out a roar, only noticing a moment or so later that she'd been partnered up with the little blue brat. She snorted a puff of smoke, but figured she'd play nice this time around. After all, even she knew that Alphonse's Water-type abilities would come in handy against their opponents.
"Whoa, check out the Charmeleon!" Steve cried, pointing his hand at Nova. However, it was quickly smacked away by Ralph.
"Now's not the time to be impressed by her Pokemon," the meaner of the two boys sneered. "First we'll pummel her into submission and then we'll steal that Charmeleon! And all her other Pokemon, too! Combusken, get in there with a flying Double Kick!" The kickboxing chicken-thing let out a shrill, intimidating cry and rushed towards Nova, using its powerful legs to vault into the air where it twisted, coming down towards the fire lizard with an outstretched foot. It obviously had plenty of battle experience, but Nova wasn't about to stand there and take it. She jumped backwards, the embers on her tail flaring as she exhaled a small cloud of thick, hazy smoke. Undeterred, Combusken went right through it, though it let out a surprised yelp when it hit nothing but the ground. Its momentum and speed were enough to already start to dissipate the miniature Smokescreen, and it could see Nova stationed nearby, wearing a toothy grin as she was ready to fight back.
