"DID YOU KNOW THAT FIGHTING HURTS?" ; A;

Taryn's poor lepus was losing what remained of its mind. The chimera herself only took a moment to survey her teammates and shook her head. They were ********>

"I will learn," the weremantis said resolutely, looking down at Alexander. "When this trial is over you are going to teach me. Books are not the best for me so you will show me and next time. Next time I will know." A fierce passion raged in those eyes, and truly, he would learn everything there was to learn about foot bones until he could put a busted foot together in his sleep. Because no, he was not laughing this off.

Yin honestly had no idea how the rest of the team was. He did not care. Some lepus was squawking and running about, daring to be concerned for someone other than Alexander. Seeing someone busted up was one thing. Seeing someone dissipated was one thing. Seeing his bonded there missing the lower half of his leg, and with far too many gashes and holes and bones that had been broken was quite another.

Then another lepus was actually clinging to him. Could he throw it against the wall? Or out the door? But this one seemed rather frightened and he left it there to cling to his leg. But if it bothered Alexander...

Did you know fish cd fan squ-- Okay, that lepus got thrown against the wall. Someone was possibly stressing. "I do not know about the others but if you desire for me to check on them I will." He did not wish to. Not at all. He tore his gaze away and looked around. "It appears that they are all in here." And you look like you took the worst injury.

Well so much for making light of the situation. Alex pursed his lips, not trusting himself to discontinue with the jokes, the lighthearted laughter, the smiling, that was quite obviously inappropriate to his current situation. He winced slightly when the nurse or whatever it was tried to jam his leg back on. They could have tried being a little more gentle about it. After keeping silent for a moment, he said, rather seriously. "I will show you. When the trials are over." Since that's what Yin wanted to hear, right?

Alex couldn't be sure, but he thought he could actually tell the moment his spine finally mended itself. He suddenly was able to wiggle his toes on his right foot again, and the fingers on both hands. He thought that was cause to smile, at least, and so he did so.

"Oh, they're all here?" He wanted to know if everyone was okay, but that look on Yin's face said pretty loud and clear that he wasn't about to leave Alex's side to find out. He did say that he would go and check if Alex wanted but...

"No no, it's fine. I'll be up and moving around again soon, I'm sure." He replied, able to finally reach out and pat the top of one of Yin's hands with his.

"I'm really okay, I promise! Barely felt a thing. And well..free falling was kind of cool for a while?"

Really Alex? This is how you choose to be reassuring?

"Here, just... help me sit up. I think I'm ready now." He said, as he watched Yin fling a lepus across the room for a second time. He actually felt a little bad for the thing, and his own lepus was keeping it's mouth shut around Yin now, probably afraid it would befall the same fate.

Alexander would probably know best about his own foot, so that was an agreeably solution. Unless he had time between now and the end of the trials to learn. Thankfully Alexander did not ask that he leave and he rather ridiculously relished the fact that the zomboil was touching his hand. Because it meant that he could. And well, maybe the situation was not entirely bad. Maybe the silver lining was that Alexander would not simply break off pieces of his own leg because it was an easy way to get something finished.

Free falling was...kind of cool? He stared at the zomboil, not sure how to react before a smile began to creep across his face, a smug grin no unlike the Grinch's. He was being asked to help the zomboil sit up and so he did so, shifting around until he was sitting more beside him than facing him and reaching down to slip an arm around his shoulders, lifting him up and keeping his arm there to steady the zomboil.

"Well then, it if it was such an enjoyable experience I shall take that course when it is time for us to try again."

I'm Claiming Rock Climbing!

Long Grass Field

The smile Yin had given him...ya, it was a bit creepy, and it left Alex wondering what was going on in that weremantis's head. Yin helped him up into a sitting position and he was grateful, though he might have been able to here cracking noises as bones not quite in the proper place reset themselves. He sat there like that for a time, taking advantage of Yin's arm around him to lean into him a bit, enjoying every second of being able to somewhat cuddle with his boilfriend, even if it was in a public area.

And then Yin said he was going to do the rock climbing course, and suddenly the smile on the other boils face made sense, and the one on Alex's face slipped off. Why would Yin do that? He could see for himself the damage it could cause if he didn't make it to the top. He may have clutched at Yin a little tighter, any light hearted jokes he had to try and reassure the mantodae with fleeing his mind and leaving it utterly blank. But all of the courses were dangerous to a varying degree, and either one of them could get seriously injured, and Alex was just going to have to accept that.

Didn't mean he had to like it.

Letting go of Yin, he pushed himself from the bed to his feet, giving the other boil a very unhappy look before shuffling back outside, but then mumbling. "I guess it's time to do one last course anyways. Just...try not to get hurt." He said, walking off with his hands in his pockets and the...snow? It was snowing now? Oh and there was ice pelting down on him too. Greeeeeaaaaat. Well, so much for Yin not getting hurt.

Alex made his way over to the long grass course, his lepus guide suddenly perched on his back in a backpack once more. So odd, because Alex didn't remember putting the backpack back on...

He entered the new course with much less enthusiasm as he had the others. All he could think about was Yin falling off of that damn cliff side. As he glanced around, he realised that he couldn't see a jack damned thing. He could barely even walk in this place and he found himself tripping over the uneven terrain beneath his feet.

A flash of red caught his eye, however, and he stumbled over to a flag to grab and hand back to his lepus guide, who was still being quite silent.

Long Grass Field

Stumbling, stumbling ya! This was getting a little bit ridiculous, honestly. Alex could barely even keep his feet under him, and he couldn't figure out which way he was supposed to go. His lepus guide was being incredibly unhelpful, not even spouting out any weird quotes or statistics.

So, when he found himself in a clearing, he was almost relieved, until he took another step forward and found himself knee deep in mud that he had to struggle his way out of, which took him pretty much forever to do.

The ice pelting down on him was getting really annoying.

Long Grass Field

Howling, slithering, hissing. Had Alex been trying to ignore all of these sounds throughout the course? You betcha he had! But it was getting fairly unavoidable now, as he could see snakes, some of them absolutely gigantic, slithering through the grass. He tried to keep away from them at all costs, but it felt almost like they were...herding him along towards something?

This did not bode well.

The hail was battering against his bare skin, some of it sharp enough to make little cuts across Alex's shoulders and arms. He had forgotten to put his shirt back on before leaving the infirmary, and tiny rivulets of dark blackish red were coursing down his arms and from his finger tips. This ice from the sky was going to be the death of him before he could even reach the finish, so he stopped to take the time to do some fear healing on himself before continuing onwards.

Long Grass Field

The hissing was getting so loud, much too loud. If possible, Alex picked up his pace a little bit, not at all comfortable with the noises invading his ears. They were driving him crazy at this point. He didn't know which way to go or how to get away from it.

What was that? Something had..tugged at his ankle, he was sure of it. Oh dear jack, that was the loudest hissing sound yet! He turned slowly to look at the noise coming from behind, only to see a gargantuan sized snake, and it was lunging right at him! He attempted to back pedal away, but it was too late, and the creature buried it's fangs deep into Alex's chest.

The zomboil fell, and dissipated in a burst of FEAR particles.

The Cave of FIAH

Taryn's concentration was broken when it suddenly began to hail. She turned up toward the pelting ice. Great. She was beginning to think there was a Weather Horseman screwing with them all. She looked down to Chuppi and heaved a sigh, giving the ghoul a little head-rub of reassurance.

"Just one more. You can do it, little hero." With that, she headed off for the courses. Regardless of the hail, today would be the one day she got to choose properly. Fire was her element, fire was her last course.

The first obstacle she met was a path of hot coals... REALLY hot coals. She made a bit of a face and began to stomp over, protected by her hard hooves.

"Did you know that I am grateful that you are carrying me?"

"Of course," Taryn nodded, still a bit miffed at her previous failure, and plucked the flag from the end of the obstacle. On to the next!

Rock Climbing

Cuddling? Supporting. Words made all the difference in the world to the mantodae. At least Alexander would not have a chance to fall off of the cliff again. Alexander pushed himself to his feet, which was a very good sign, and he followed him out, trying not to be too annoyed when his lepus guide manage to reattach to his back.

"Did you know you fixed me? Did you know I love you forever?"

So all he had had to do all along was throw the creature against the wall.

He was about to catch up to Alexander when he walked outside and...into snow? Great Mantis no. Not now. Not during the trial. Hail stung his flesh as he hurried along to his obstacle course. His natural form would be useless now but he situated his goggles on so that he could at least protect his eyes. Climb the rock face? How ridiculous. He took a running jump at the cliff face and clung to it, snatching a red flag before looking upwards.

Rock Climbing

"Did you know I would die for you? Did you know you are the bestest ever?"

Okay, the creature was just as annoying fixed as not. Still, he had to get the flags. He had to scale this cliff. To prove that he was not completely worthless. But now that he was no longer scurrying forward and was climbing slower the cold was beginning to set in. No, he needed the feeling in his fingers to continue on.

Rocks began to rain down and he clung to the surface, the small rocks almost indistinguishable from the hail stinging his flesh. Just get to the next flag. He managed to snag a second one. Just keep going. He shivered, lips beginning to turn blue.

A great burst of water shot up from the ground, and Taryn could only watch it go. Scalding water splattered her face and quickly cooled. This reminded her of the haunted house, of the one obstacle that her team had passed by, more or less, cheating the system. She had been terrified then... but now? Not so much. The ghoul stood and watched a few more eruptions, noting that each was preceded by a deep rumbling.

"Did you know--?"

"Shh." The guide's ears shot back as another geyser exploded, effectively silenced as Taryn began through the course. Each rumble had her dodging or, more than once, diving off to the side. Determination was high in this one, and she proudly plucked the flag from the final geyser, watching it erupt in a brilliant display.

Rock Climbing

The cold was getting to him. He tucked his head down, just trying to feel for a handhold, fingers scrambling for purchase, not that he could feel them getting sliced open by the rocks. Then finally he found a handhold and then...was something touching his hand? He really could not feel it at this point.

"Did you know they do not like intruders?"

They? Oh. Those.

Suddenly they were everywhere, and he was immensely glad of his goggles that protected his eyes from their beaks and claws. Sharp claws were slicing open his arms and with the hail beating down on him he could not hold on any longer and he was free falling.

The entire way down the only thing he could think about was that third flag he could see up there that he would never reach. Thankfully he did not have long to think about that before he reached the bottom.

The rock waiting for him was wrong. All wrong. There was a curve to it and he wound up draped over it, back snapping and then there was something warm on his chest.

"Did you know your ribs poked through your chest? Did you know there is blood everywhere? Did you know you should have dissipated?"

Then the boogeymen were there, carefully picking him up to lay him on a stretcher and then carting him off to the infirmary.
