Jaden N. Walker~

User Image
~Psychologist/Nurse

Jaden's good mood stayed strong as the tour continued, accepting their new master of operations courteous reply. Truth be told manners were something of both a help and a hindrance when it came down to nailing a personality. There was of course the fact that only certain types of people used them in certain types of situations, yes, but at the same time people often changed about what their traiditional response would have been to suit what was expected of them. Perfectly understandable of course, it was just another facet in the rather complex game of social interaction, but it was still a bother when it came to getting a accurate read on a person.

As they moved on into the docking bay, his expression suddenly turned pensive as soon as their somewhat improvised guide said what was to be said. A furrowing creased his brow. Only way out...?

"Well now," Jaden said in a rather airy manner, his pleasant smile returned. "Isn't that interesting. Tell me Missus Fairchild, isn't it generally military code, procedure, and practice, to have a minimum of four potential avenue's for in and out going traffic? I was sure there was a rather firm law in place about the matter for at least 2..." he raised a brow. "Considering we're in international waters I suppose I can understand the second, but if the military was in charge of this installation's construction and general operations, as I think we were led to understand, isn't this somewhat of an...unorthodox, move?" Illegal, he would have said, however that was such a harsh word, and almost immediately caused people to become more or less hostile. In reality he was merely trying to feel out the Captain's knowledge of the situation...perhaps even see if he could get a solid confirmation on his already blossoming theories about this...project, and it's intentions.

From a logical standpoint, so much of it just didn't add up... the lavish accommodations, the seemingly decadent budget it was being afforded for leisure as much as function. And lastly why, when Military building code demanded otherwise, so much money was spent on luxury, when they only had ONE usable exit. That ALL said "privately owned and corporately operated, to him, which would suggest that not only were they not being told everything, but this stations true purpose was something far more potentially...fun. He was really enjoying this, prospect, naturally.

Sophia graciously took the woman's hand in her own as she gave her attempt to her own strong handshake. Repeating the name in her head in hopes to remember it upon their next meeting of one another. "The pleasure is mine." She gave in response to the woman.

Her hand slipped out of Captain Quincy's grip and fell to her side, using this movement now to switch the laptop that cradled in one arm and moving to the other. Remaining in silence as others began to converse about logistics of the place, her eyes wandering to a nearby fish or two and turning back to the conversation at hand. Listening to Jaden carefully choose his words, she glanced away from Jaden and to Mr. Williams. She supposed she should have been more troubled by this subject but-with a glance to the ceiling-look at this place!

Sophia never thought in a thousand years she'd ever feel safest at the bottom of the ocean-yet-and maybe she should have been concerned for if there was a soul or two who wished to see some land here and there. But, Sophia was very well prepped for a month or so beforehand that she would remain down here for nearly a year before seeing a single grain of dry sand.

Her eyes now met to Mr. William's eyes as she attempted to step into the conversation, waiting until of course after his response to Jaden's remark of "unorthodox". "Is there anywhere else in particular you'd like to show us?"

Quincy smiled as Sophia responded and nodded as the other woman gave her own name. She watched for a moment more to see if any conversation would be sparked but it seemed she was more interested in fiddling with her laptop and the fishes around them. The Captain was by no means offended, it was a natural reaction to continue on if you weren't planning on talking much at a given time. There had been plenty of times that she had been reprimanded for getting lost in her own thoughts by Daniel when they first met because she had been very focused on her duties their first few years in the service together. Instead she turned her own attention back to the collective group and set off with the others as they began their wandering.

As they made their way to the docking bay she counted her steps mentally and noted how many doors they passed. It was a quirky little habit of hers but sometimes she made the effort to train herself how to get from place to place with alternative methods of observation just in case, for instance, there was a black out and no source of light or worse if she somehow went blind. Always a cautious individual...Looking around the docking bay she was taking inventory of the sights when the sound of Jaden's voice drifted through the air and caught her attention.

His tone was nothing more than inquisitive, but his words seemed to her condescending. She was not foolish enough to call him out on it but she thought of her answer for a moment. It didn't take much for people to assume that the government had turned something into a conspiracy, and Quincy wouldn't fuel that idea personally. "Well Mr. Walker you must understand already that it is intended for only those involved with this mission directly to be here. The government does not anticipate "in and out going traffic", so additional access points were deemed unnecessary in this case. When our job is done here we will be picked up as we were dropped off, and until then as our contracts state we are to remain here." she responded easily, shrugging her shoulders slightly.

Whether or not he would be pleased with that answer she didn't particularly care. It was the truth, or at least what she had been told at her debriefing, and until it was necessary she would not question the authority of her superiors. The ones who had temporarily exiled her to the bottom of the ocean...her own question suddenly formulated in her head but she kept it to herself. In a case of emergency, if they all could not make it to the escape sub, would it still run and allow someone to be left alive? Was it programmed to recognize who and how many were aboard? Quincy doubted they would have that sort of extreme trouble, but at the same time she knew she did not yet trust any of the others in Atlantis with her life, nor was she certain she ever would.

Freya hadn't said anything to him since he'd gotten him to the rendezvous. To the contrary she'd been standing there silently and unmovable as a statue. She'd long since mastered the art of standing for endless amount of time and keeping her mind entertained while staying vigilant. Heck it was one of the first things you were meant to learn in the military. Step 1: parade rest, if possible put yourself in a position where you won't put undo pressure on your body. Step 2: pay attention to your surroundings and make sure your mind knows what's 'normal' for the situation so you can be alerted when something changes. Step 3: think to yourself and keep facial expressions to a minimum. Currently her mind had been focused entirely on the latest movie she'd watched. She'd long since realized that the building wasn't designed to be easy to escape. No, of course not, there should be minimal risk but they were deemed expendable. Not like this was a true colony or even an office building full of people. There were a handful of civilians with a buttload of water keeping out anyone who might try to infiltrate. There was nor reason to make it easy to escape. If the place started to flood there were partitions designed to lock up, if those didn't work they'd never make it to the pod. This place had to remain pressurized just right to keep them from being crushed by the weight of the water. If there was an outbreak they weren't leaving to keep whatever disease from spreading. If there was some sort of security problem well that's what she was for. If she failed she intended to be dead in the process. As such she didn't see any point in allowing herself to linger too long on the concept. No she just stood there staring straight ahead and contemplating the idea of what it'd be like to have super powers- like the people in the movie-or to at least have a boyfriend with superpowers. Like Lewis Lane and Clark Kent.

She took a sort of malicious joy in the fact that this was somehow making Mr. Marcotte a tad anxious. Eventually he started to fidget and attempted to strike up conversation. Every attempt ending in bitter bitter failure. It wasn't till he tried to stand that she spoke. "Don't. Move." she said in a commanding tone. "We were told to wait and so we shall. You've already used the restroom and as such aren't privy to anymore time in the privy" she smirked some at the joke but it was quickly gone. "Just chill out and wait like a good little rule breaker. It'll be over with one way or the other. Either you'll be sent packing or you'll stay either way you've got no choice but to wait."

Listening to the two squabble for a moment Free was silent. He too had questioned the lack of exits to this place too when he first arrived. Everything about is seemed suspicious but he had learned to observe and keep his mouth shut. At least for the time being. He wasn't going to be the dog that bit his feeder's hand just yet, not when he had such a prime opportunity to explore from the inside.

"Just to add, Mrs. Fairchild, there are three separate access routes to this room Mr. Walker, which the government must have seen as an adequate solution to getting here from different locations in Atlantis. In case one route becomes inaccessible, there are still the other two - one leading from near the ballroom and the other through the kitchens." Free had done a lot of exploring when he arrived to fully test Echo's capabilities throughout their home. He also had studied the schematic of Atlantis' layout that they would have all received but perhaps had not taken the chance to look at. In time he didn't doubt that they all would be used to at least 80% of the complex.

As he paused again to see if the other two had any other questions about whether or not they were safe or trapped at the bottom of the ocean, Free heard Sophia chime in and turned to her with a small smile and a nod. "Yes Ms. Thatcher I believe we can continue on but first perhaps we should go and collect Freya and our delinquent friend. If we are ready to continue, let us convene in the lobby." With that Free moved back towards the lobby knowing the others would follow when they were ready. He still didn't want to deal with this issue right now, but it was rude to keep the two waiting much longer.

Entering the lobby he spotted the two and approached. Mr. Marcotte was obviously out of sorts and he didn't blame him; Freya seemed like the dominatrix type, in his opinion, and he wasn't sure a guy like Marcotte was used to strong women. "Sorry to keep you both waiting. So, Mr. Marcotte not the best way to start out your time here, huh?" he chided unsympathetically. Turning back to Freya he took out his PDA again to take down some notes. "I looked into the offense, but how bad is the damage? Let's start with that and decide what course of action we need to take..."

Marcotte huffed and crossed his arms almost like a child. "You act like I am under arrest." Free glanced at him momentarily.

"In this case you practically are, Mr. Marcotte. Your actions were inappropriate and you should have been briefed on what your responsibilities are while you are here. Anything that goes against protocol is a breech of your agreement. We can't have people breaking into rooms and destroying the equipment, no matter how innocent the intent." Listen to him, he almost sounded like one of the "authority figures" he could barely tolerate...Shaking his head he returned his attention to Freya and awaited her response and for the others to catch up.

With a quiet yawn the Doctor continued on with her exploring, her feet padding along the ground and creating little taps that echoed around. She wouldn't be surprised if someone heard her... but honestly at this point she didn't particularly care. She was much to interested in all the fancy accomodations and the ocean world outside the thick glass walls to be bothered by the tapping of her feet.
If this glass ever broke, we'd all die instantly... the pressure is horrible down here, but we'd obviously drown. It would be a very painful experience I suppose... hopefully I won't be living it.

She tapped on the thick glass quietly, perking up when she heard the sound of voices once more. Hmm. They seemed to be going the same way she was... perhaps she ought to allow them to catch up after all. Perhaps a bit of human interaction would not be as bad as she assumed it would be.
She was still a little tired but she'd get over it. She enjoyed people... may as well allow them to approach her.

Licking her lips she patiently awaited for the gruop to catch up to her, eyes flickering around the outside ocean world. It was pitch black... nothing could be seen in such crazy darkness. She tried nonetheless, only finding that she failed miserably and she may as well stop before she strained her eyes too much.
That was until a very curious looking fish swam by... literally right by her face. It didn't seem to notice her but she sure as hell noticed it, her big blue eyes going even wider with shock and curiousity.

What a peculiar fish! I wonder if that Sophia woman knows what it is.

She watched it as it passed by, eventually vanishing into the eternal darkness that was the bottom of the Andreas Trench. With a sad sigh, Andrea turned her back to the glass and leaned against it, crossing her arms across her stomach and listening to the voices floating towards her from the hall.
"You act like I am under arrest."
""In this case you practically are, Mr. Marcotte. Your actions were inappropriate and you should have been briefed on what your responsibilities are while you are here. Anything that goes against protocol is a breech of your agreement. We can't have people breaking into rooms and destroying the equipment, no matter how innocent the intent."

Frowning lightly she couldn't help but wonder who the first voice was... she didn't recognize them, though she did recognize Free's voice. Apparently the first voice had messed a bit of equipment up.
Hmm... what a terrible thing to do! Andrea was scared she was going to break something and get arrested... apparently that's what would happen.
She shuddered lightly at the thought, still awaiting the group to catch up with her. It didn't sound all that far away from the sounds of the voices getting louder and clearer.

ooc ; my fault.
