Post 157 "Yeah, I mean Argos could battle your Magikarp once it evolves so you know how it acts after before hand." Chael said. He knew Gyarados's acted really crazy sometimes if you couldn't control them. But the small match against the wild Pokemom really excited his team. They were kinda jumpy, wanted to use all that bent up energy. "If you wanna use your Servine, Argos knows an Ice attack so the match should be pretty equal." he added with a shrug. Argos had one or two scratches at best and the grass type must've been pretty agile because she wasn't hurt that much. Looking at another rock he turned it over, finding... (( Sorry about the delay. I had to grab something for dinner, and I was handling some RP stuffs. )) Leech Seed has a 90% Accuracy. 1-90 hit and 91-100 miss. Right, Gyarados. Nolan still had mixed feelings about Dosu evolving, but that was a combination of sheer bliss and utter terror. Only time would tell. Nolan nodded thoughtfully, remembering a few things, and also getting back to the subject at hand, finally shrugged. "Yeah, Ice Fang would put a damper on things. But yeah, sure, we'll battle. Right, Sn-Servine?" Nolan caught himself that time and called the Grass Snake by the proper name. But names, names ... just nothing seemed to fit so far for his Servine. The pokemon in question already considered it, and she nodded once back to Nolan. She agreed to battle. Nolan had a feeling this was going to be a quick, down and dirty fight, but well, he could tell that Servine was aching to battle again. Valor was just scratching behind his ear and cleaning his fur of rock dust. "Okay, looks good. One versus one then, Servine against your Argos?" Reminding that he didn't know WHAT that croc was, Nolan referred to his pokedex for the entry. It didn't help bolster his spirits. "... Watch out for those jaws, Servine. All Argos had was Ice Fang. But at least they had a freezing chance. The seeds popped on Argos, weakening him a little bit. And the match began. "Ice Fang!" he called out. Leaping, Argos thrust his teeth towards Servine.. His teeth were glowing a bright blue, releasing an aura around his jaw. Leaf Tornado inflicts damage, and has a 30% chance to lower the target's accuracy. 90% Accuracy. 1-90 hit, 61-90 accuracy lowered, and 91-100 miss. EDIT:: (( Sorry, forgot to RNG. I'll do it in the main thread for that instead. And I got a 71. )) Well, might as well go for broke and take the obvious advantage, because Nolan was sure that Argos wouldn't want to do anything except give it his all. But on another thought, it was interesting to watch Servine use Leech Seed. If planted ... would those seeds grow baby Snivy? Anyway ... "Quick, keep him back with Leaf Tornado!" Nimbly jumping backwards, she did her backflip to balance again on a single hand. Then with a twist of her legs and leafy tail, started the Leaf Tornado, but Argos was stronger than any opponent she had ever fought before. Hippopotas had been close, but Hippopotas didn't have fangs of ice. The Croconaw got a bite in on her tail, and wincing, Servine attempted to still execute the move despite this. She hoped to fling him off, and get Argos with the Tornado. ((Accuracy lowered. 91-100 is a miss. 81-90 is a freeze.)) Post 160 Chael cursed in his mind as Argos wobbled around before standing back firm. The tornado lowered his accuracy by the looks of it. Well, the best chance they had was to use Ice Fang and hope they got lucky. Luckily Argos leveled up again, giving him a small boost. Meeting an eyelock with the water type, he nodded. Argos lunged again, opening his jaws wider than last time. Now he was aiming for the base of the snake. Considering he just leveled and adding the Leech Seed, they were both fairing off the same. Which, honestly wasn't that good. And it'd be worse for the Servine if this hit. Yeah Leech Seed was grass type but it was a super weak one that gave back HP in small amounts. And Ice Fang was a good move, that'd do twice as much damage. Except it had been hit twice while Argos once by Leaf Tornado. "If she had a Leftovers, she'd be a pretty good stalker with that Leech Seed and a Giga Drain." Chael said to Nolan after Argos lunged, using Ice Fang. Yeah, Nolan had gotten that badge for a reason. (( I think it's a 10% accuracy reduction each time for the rules in the guild, not just 5%. So 95% - 10% is 85% accuracy, which just means Argos just barely hit and just barely froze my Servine. Damnit! I'm almost pretty sure, because it stood out in my mind that it wasn't exactly the games. And I really do approve though, because I'm sure everyone has been a victim of the Sand-Attack spammer. )) A frozen Pokémon has a 20% chance of being thawed out every turn, but I'm not even going to roll, lol. Servine was going to keep up the spin to attack with Leaf Tornado again. Since it was the best move to use, neither Nolan nor Servine saw a reason to change tactics. Was just that Chael was the lucky one here. This time when Argos got those teeth into Servine's tail, she stiffened and the ice from his teeth spread up over her green and cream skin. The Leaf Tornado was stopped dead, never forming, and Servine was frozen solid. This fight was over, since Nolan wouldn't make any of his pokemon suffer through sleep or a freezing in battle. He was just too sentimental. This time at least he was getting faster with the recall, and whipped out Servine's pokeball and returned her, ice and all. He sighed, glancing down at red and white capsule in his hand and wondered if there could have been anything different they could have done to have won. But also just like he thought, the fight was fast and brutal. It was over before he knew it. "I should have known somehow we weren't going to win. Well, anyway, I bet Argos is happy now. And err, what's a Leftovers? I don't think she has Giga Drain as a move either." Post 161 Chael shrugged. "If that Elite Four guy had Pokemon around our level's you would've trashed him." he said, kinda giving him a complement in some weird sort of way. Taking out his Pokedex he explained "Ah, Leftovers apparently..." taking a moment to read he went on "... is a hold item that heals the holding Pokemon's health a little bit each time it attacks. And your Pokemon would probably learn the Giga thing later on, seeing how it's a grass type." Man, was he glad the professor gave them digital encyclopedias. It showed moves, items, Pokemon, and lots of other random stuff. Like showing you your teams levels and such. Modesty came naturally to Nolan, and for that matter, it still hadn't even really sunk in that he had really and truly won his first badge in Blyse. No, instead he laughed sheepishly and nervously scratched the back of his head. "No, no, I'm not that good. I've had some practice with handling pokemon back at home, but I never battled with any of them." In fact, Nolan was pretty sure that Chael just said that to be polite after beating his Servine. Nolan hoped she would be okay in her pokeball while being frozen, but nothing so far had given him a reason to think that it was bad. "Oh, so Leftovers is a little like a berry for healing? I wonder where I can get one of those. Heh, actually how about one more battle? Random against random? This time you can take the first move." Now Nolan just had Valor at his side, but that was enough to make him feel safe. He already knew which pokemon he wanted to use, and picked the corresponding pokeball. What bad luck, but Nolan wasn't going to go back on his word. With a sigh he tossed the pokeball he had chosen, and his dark blue Taillow formed from the flash of energy and light. She trilled and immediately looked around for something high to perch on. However ... she didn't find anything she liked, so instead she perched on Nolan's head. The trainer's expression went blank and he held very still. This was very alarming, but the last thing he wanted to do was piss off the Tiny Swallow pokemon who had her claws gripping his hair. "Um, well, I guess luck is still with you, since I picked my Twill. Could you ... um, do me the favor and wait for my Taillow to get off of me before your Blitzle uses an electric attack?" Valor yowled up at Twill, wishing he could sit on Nolan's head too. Twill just looked smug and she preened her feathers, knowing exactly what was going on. And she wasn't going to move either, because she sure as hell didn't want to fight against an electrified zebra. Her trainer should have known better. Chael didn't own any birds so it'd make transportation to fly a little difficult. Its not like he is going to have a flying rock monster or anything. This one seemed a bit more rebellious than the Servine. At least the snake was supportive in her own right. Hopefully the Taillow didn't know any Pidgeys. "I mean, it'd be a pretty quick match, since she knows Shock Wave." Chael added. It was one of those moves that never missed. A birds agility would prove to be useless against that move. Post 165 Well he had found nothing twice he decided third times a charm. Right? Well, he certainly hoped so. Chael still wanted to find a fossil more than anything.
