Cumin Bay She nods and turns to essay writing. Good thing she's as old as typewriters, for she is a fast typist and actually writes the paper very quickly. Asakura rewrapped his sword and sighed. he didnt like to keep secrets about himself. he then sat on his bed and opened a tattered book

Cumin Bay When she's done, she looks over at him. Wow, what a tattered book. "What is that?" Asakura looked up from the book and smiled. "its my grandfathers spell book. he always wrote his spells in story form, so im trying to decypher it... though im not doing very well"he said happily

"So you like riddles and things?" She enjoyed them, too, but a game of riddles with the fae could have disastrous side effects for either party, so she avoided them. "It sounds like a lot of work. What kind of spells do kitsune use?"

"you could say i enjoy solving riddles, but im no good at coming up with any."he said playfully."kitsune can use an array of spells, primarily transformation and elemental control. i dont enjoy using transformation, but im pretty good at it."

"Transformation is an important skill in this day and age. Faeries use it, as well. We can use some spells, but everyone has a specialty. Mine, for example, is dark magic." She's just making small talk. Best way to get to know your roommate.

"Dark magic is based on... darkness. Just like light magic comes from light energy, fire from fire energy, and natural magics from nature itself. Most magic can be taught, but to use dark magic, you have to have an affinity for it or contract with a being that does. I have a natural affinity, and my main magic is illusion." She tipped her head. Did he not know this? That was odd.

Most magic can be taught, but to use dark magic, you have to have an affinity for it or contract with a being that does. I have a natural affinity, and my main magic is illusion." She tipped her head. Did he not know this? That was odd. "so would flame-like shadows be dark magic? i wasnt taught about this when i was little..."he said, looking down as he noticed the confused look on her face. he felt even more inexperienced as he realised how little he actually knew about magic.

Ah. That explained it. "It could be. Some magic is hard to define, and energy can come from crazy sources, so it could be all sorts of things." She smiled slightly. "I'm not super-good at theory. Can you show me what you mean?"

"I'm not super-good at theory. Can you show me what you mean?" Asakura lifted his hand so his palm was facing up. He muttered a few short phrases and a pitch black flame burst to life, hovering slightly above his hand."this is kinda what it looks like, I don't think I should demonstrate its destructive capabilities in the dorm"he said playfully

She leaned in over his hand. "It looks like it has some darkness in it... but it feels hot, too. Darkness and fire, then? Just like it looks." Most dark magic, she could touch, but fire gave this destructive tendencies beyond other types of spells, so she leaned away after the diagnosis.

Asakura allowed the flame to go out, closing his hand to keep her from seeing his now burnt palm."I dont use it very often, if ever... i havent had a need to."he said, hoping to reassure her
