"If for whatever reason one of us is on the list... I don't know. I'll do something about it I suppose. It isn't like the Family is constantly snatching people. Right now there seems to be a group, but it's probably not going to stay like this. Too many missing people in a certain area tends to raise a lot of flags. That isn't to say that other illicit activities won't happen. Drugs, weapons, and all that s**t really."

Letting out a sigh, he looked up at Mitsu when she curled forward. His gaze had been fixated on the ground so he hadn't seen that tears had begun to well in her eyes. But with her current posture, he could see that she was upset.

"This is kind of why you deserve better."

Mitsu was fairly certain she would take the drug and weapon deals over this. Sure it was still bad and very illegal but it wasn't taking people. Kidnapping them to ransom or torture.

It was so hard to think about how she felt about it all. How she felt about offering to help, the deals themselves, and most of all what she thought of Shun. Mostly she felt he had been brought up in this world and had no choice, at least that's what she liked to believe.

"This...even as horrible as it is doesn't change how I feel about you," Mitsu said with conviction. It was true even if her feelings of love were muddled with confusion she still loved him and cared for him and would do what she could. "I'm...I'm sorry I said I would help....I-I will." She choked out. "It's just so hard not to imagine...." She trailed off as she brought a hand to her mouth trying to hold back the sob that threatened to come.

"All I can think about..." She finally started again, doing what she could to will the tears back. "Is Ginji....and that this is the reason...he might be gone." It had certainly changed her life for the worse. Flipped everything upside down. He had been the only family she had left and he had gone missing without a trace. And she was offering her help to do this to someone else. She would never wish that kind of pain on anyone, not in a million years but here she was willing to do just that.

Suddenly Mitsu felt sick, rising to her feet almost unsteadily as she made her way to the door. The thought of putting someone through the mental torture she had gone through after her brother's disappearance was sending her over the edge. It was a personal pain so close to home she couldn't quite detach herself from it. She was going to have to though...if she was going to go through with this. Perhaps Shun was right, she would have been better off left in the dark.

A look of confusion flashed across Shun's face as she said she still felt the same way for him. She sounded like she meant it too. But, it was clear she was still struggling with the information he had given her. He didn't understand how she was still able to feel that way for him, despite her obvious strong feelings about what he was doing.

The Reaper fell even more silent when her brother was brought up. It was... very possible that his disappearance had something to do with the criminal underworld. There was even a chance the Family was involved. He didn't know. There was potential, though.

Quite frankly, he didn't really know how to feel about that.

As Mitsu got up to her feet to take some unsteady steps towards the door, the Reaper let out a sigh.

"It's ok. I never expected you to even get involved this much... I can't and I won't ask you to do anything further. But.. I'm sorry for this much."

It pained him to see her this distressed. But as far as he was aware, he didn't really have a place to comfort her in this matter much more than what he just said.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:52 pm

There were no comforting words, no reassurance. Just a simple apology that ate away at her more than anything. It wasn't that she thought he didn't mean it. She knew he was sorry she had gotten involved and learned as much as she had but that didn't change this gut wrenching feeling. How much of herself was she going to lose going through with this? She already knew she was never going to be the same. Would she grow cold and distant like Shun had been when he first arrived? Would she hate people for fear of getting too close?

She was scared now, of what she was going to do and what she was going to become. It was going to eat away at her every thought no doubt it would plague her in her sleep but she couldn't say that. Not to him. She couldn't burden him with all the pain she felt because of this. No more than she already had.

"I...I k-know," She stuttered out, teary eyes glancing back shortly before she continued her unsteady path to the door. Mitsu needed to clear her head, just get a breath of fresh air. Surely that would make everything better.

Her fingers gripped the handle of the door and Mitsu realized she would be leaving Shun's room for the first time upset. Her sanctuary, her safe haven had been compromised. The place she had felt safest and at peace of mind would never quite be the same. That thought was enough to send her into a fit of hiccuping that lapsed into crying as soon as she threw the door open and started down the hall not even bothering to grab her shoes.

Watching Mitsu walk away, Shun felt something hit him hard as she began to sob before starting down the hall. He couldn't take this any more. CLosing his eyes tightly, he pushed himself up and started after her.

"Mitsu.. Wait.." he uttered as he limped to the door.

"I.."

He didn't know what to say. Quite frankly, he felt really confused right now as a whole. For some reason, he felt this sense of shame that wasn't really there before. It wasn't be cause of a failure.. or was it? Usually this came with some feeling of disappointment, but he wasn't sure if that was here. Or was it? He didn't know.

But for whatever reason, something was eating at him about this.

"Mitsu.." he sighed. He didn't know what to say.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 02, 2012 8:21 pm

Mitsu had made it a few paces from Shun's door when she heard the call to wait. It took a moment for her feet to slow, her hands coming up to cover her face trying to cease her crying. She had asked for this, wanted to help, it wasn't fair of her to cry. It wasn't fair to Shun.

She stood as still as statue as Shun failed to come up with the words he wanted to say. There was that need to turn to face him but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She couldn't let him see her tear stained face as she failed to compose herself. Was it right to hope? Hope that he would change his mind about the whole thing? No, if he stopped what would that do? It would only get him in trouble and likely put him in danger. It was like being backed into a corner with no where to go. In the end someone was going to suffer and no matter what Mitsu was now a part of the cause.

"I-I'm s-s-sorry," She choked out. "I-I-I'll be stronger." Above all Mitsu didn't want to fail him even if it meant losing herself in the process. Somehow she would figure out how to pick up the pieces later.

Slowly, Shun stepped closer to Mitsu, tentatively reaching out to try and rest his hands onto her shoulders from behind.

"This isn't your fault. This has nothing to do with your strength... This is.. just a part of me I suppose. Perhaps if I were the one that was stronger, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.."

He wouldn't have come back so battered for one thing. If he had just been late coming home without any injuries, there wouldn't have been so much of a question. But no, he always managed to sustain something. That was what caused her to worry so much.

Perhaps the shame was from that. He still wasn't really sure.

"I'm sorry.." he said quietly, "I'm sorry you have to put up with all of this. This.. isn't fair to you."

His hands had found her shoulders and as much as she wanted to she couldn't relax, even under that warm and familiar touch. "Did you really think...you could keep me in the dark forever?" Mitsu didn't see how it was possible if this was such a part of him. Eventually it would bleed through into their lives. It was better to find out now. "There were already signs I just....failed to see them. Your training...and your father." Her mind was working over time now, seeking out the things she had neglected to notice before. How naive had she been? Surely Shun thought her a simple and stupid little wolf.

Finally she turned to face him, her face burying into his shirt as her arms came to wrap around his middle. She wished she could wake up and realize this was all a bad dream, find out it was a trick of the mind from watching too many movies or reading a complex thriller. Surely that would explain it....

"It's not fair to you either..." Said Mitsu softly. It was his way of life but it was a way of life that never should have been forced on him.

Shun wasn't really sure if he could have kept her in the dark forever. It would have been nice, but... it just wasn't realistic. Letting out a breath, he closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around her as he felt her bury her face into his shirt.

"I'm really not good for you..." he sighed, "I'm sorry you got stuck with someone like me. I'd.. understand if you don't want to put up with any of this. You do deserve better."

He wasn't about to try and break away from her. No, but he'd give her the option to do so if she wanted. That way it would be on her terms. Though, the selfish part of him didn't want to let go in the slightest.

"This is just how it is," he replied in regards of it not being fair to him, "I grew up with this. For better or for worse, it's what made me who I am now."

The Reaper had little doubt that if things had been different, that he would definitely not be the same person right now. He just didn't know if that was good or bad.

His words of apology sent a chill through her, knowing he was trying to put some distance so that she had the option to flee the situation. A logical thinker probably would have realized he was right but Mitsu wasn't always logical and she by no means wanted to leave him. The thought made her chest go tight, that pained feeling pressing in around her.

"I...I don't want to go. Please don't make me." She begged. Should she be afraid that Shun might think better of having her around? Would he try to distance her to keep her safe that way? It made her grip his shirt a little tighter for fear he would physically push her away and that would be all it would take.

The crying seemed only destined to continue, the tears freely falling from her eyes only to get parts of Shun's shirt wet. She was really trying to understand and in a way she did but any time she thought of this job her mind went back to Ginji. His face was clear as he was abducted, fear present on his normally happy and calm features. Had that been how it had happened? If so what had he been taken for?

The answer was both relieving and heart sinking at the same time. She wanted to stay by, but at the same time it probably meant he was going to upset her a lot with these things. He didn't want that. But he still wanted her. It was causing a whirlwind of confusion and turmoil within him.

"I really don't deserve you... any of you really," he murmured, also referring to the few other friends he had managed to make during his time at Amity. Perhaps this was why it was better to not get involved in interpersonal relationships. They made things so complicated it seemed. Would it be better to isolate himself some more? If the others learned of this, they could easily have a similar reaction.

The Reaper didn't know.

Grimacing, he held Mitsu a little more tightly, knowing that again those tears were caused by him.

"I won't make you.. but I just don't understand how you can stay."

His arms had tightened in their hold and her's did as well, though not at her heightened strength. It was comfortable and warming though she knew outside this little bubble of safety he was creating she was going to have to face the same problems. Her identity was in question, her moral standard hanging in the balance. Even doing something so simple as dropping off a schedule, Mitsu felt she might as well be the kidnapper.

Clearing her head of those thoughts for now she nuzzled her face further into his shirt to hide, trying to block out the world around them. His amazement that she would stay confused her, did he not understand the bond they had? The only thing she had to answer with was a simple phrase. "Aishiteru.." She spoke softly, her now red puffy eyes lifting to look him in the face.

Expression softening, Shun stared down at her puffy red eyes. Love. Of course. He supposed he should have expected that answer, but it seemed that he still didn't completely understand the concept.

"Aishiteru.." he whispered back before falling silent for a few moments, thinking. After this beat of silence, he took in a deep breath.

"I will never ask you to help me with this. In fact.. I would rather you don't. I don't want you getting your hands dirty in any way. You're better than that. I love you the way you are and.. I don't want to end up changing you because of this."

No, he couldn't read her mind. However, he did pick up on the fact that this whole situation was bothering her. He could guess that she was having a bit of internal turmoil herself. Besides, he didn't want her to end up like him.

It was like he had hit the nail on the head. Like he could see the raging storm in her mind and knew she could feel herself slipping away the more and more she gave thought to what she would need to do.

"I don't...I don't want you to be alone in this anymore." One of her hands came back around and her finger lightly touched the charm on the end of the necklace she gave him. She wondered if he had been able to decipher the inscription on the back. "I am with you. Now and always."

"I know it will be a struggle and...I can't promise I won't cry but I want to do my best to be there for you....even...even if it means losing a bit of myself in the process." Her resolve was coming back around now, though she could feel herself growing a little colder.

"Don't say that. Please," he sighed, almost pleading to her.

"This isn't worth losing who you are over. You're better off the way you are now."

This was starting to distress him a little more. There had to be a way around this.

"The most you can do.. is be here for me when I get back from these things. I don't want you to do any more than that."
