Joint : Eftemie, Talencia

Eftemie
User Image She was still slightly mud covered, but it mattered little. The key was in her pocket and eventually a keyhole would be found for it. Looking around the garden for other things, she had frowned slightly upon finding nothing.

But as she moved out the ruined gate and back to the main street of the area, Lisana stopped to glance back at the garden. It had been magnificent once. Such a shame that it lay tattered and scattered and desolate. She knew most things were but it was still somewhat of a shame that it had come to such a state.

As she walked she wondered what to do about Eftemie. More than once she had tried to tell her and more than once the girl had led her around in a circle of thoughts and laughter. Perhaps it wasn't time yet to tell her.

So lost in thought she never saw the rubble at her feet until she stubbed her toe against it nearly tripping in the process over the now unlaced shoestring. Lisana barely caught herself on the ruined post nearby, hands reaching out to grasp it and keep herself upright.

"However did that girl walk in these shoes? The laces simply will not remain tied. I guess knots it is." she sighed, sitting down to retie both.

Talencia
Morpa needed food. She was just a tortise, after all. She didn't eat souls, or happy thoughts, or pixies. She didn't even eat meat. She only ate growing things. And in the city with wide-spread chaos and desolation, that was awfully hard to come by.

He was scurrying along in the form of a silver and grey mottled rat, blending with shadows and never misstepping, despite his blank white eyes. It was no miracle for him. It was simply day to day survival. As a consequence, he was quite aware of the human up ahead, but didn't pay much mind. After all, the humans either ignored rats or despised and avoided them. Either way, it worked for him.

He cared not for the plight of humans, nor what they thought, cared about, or needed. They were not his concern. They could all be destroyed for all that it mattered to him. He'd happily take up residence in the ruins of their buildings and houses. In fact... he was doing just that already. From his perspective, the world did not need humans at all.

So as he neared this particular human, he scrabbled up the nearby pile of rubble and paused there. Sitting up on his hind legs, he turned his eeriely pale eyes up towards the human's head and then GRINNED. Crooked, rotten teeth showed between his furry lips, and his whiskers swept back from the gierce grimace. Just to add the extra touch, he squeaked in a sort of odd burble, enjoying the implication that he was one of the plague rats and carried the disease that had wiped out whole sections of the city. THAT should send the stupid human screaming for safer regions!

He just wished the stupid, dense, stomping creatures would go and leave him and Morpa in peace amongst the deadened buildings.

At the scurrying sound, she glanced up from tying the lace to stare directly into the furry face of a rat. For a moment all she could do was stare. When he squeaked at her but made no further moves, Lisana's mouth twitched upwards at his bravado. Certainly a plague rat wouldn't have hesitated to jump at her rather than just stare at her. She'd seen rats larger than he long ago when she'd lived before. Hadn't she? The thought never finished as she continued to watch him closely.

For an instant she had the image of a rat dressed in armor charging down a large fire-breathing dragon. Only she was the dragon he was trying to get rid of.

At first it was a slight snicker. Then it was like a dam that burst free and Lisana broke into laughter. The lace fell from her fingers as she leaned back, watching him in amusement.

"I'm not a dragon that you need to chase away, Sir Rat. I've no designs on your food or even this place." she smirked. "I merely needed to tie my shoe. So go away, but I applaud you for your bravery but I've no medal to give to thee."

Talencia
The... the NERVE! Huffing, Eex's eyes bulged. How dare she dismiss him so airily! The cheek! Soon it wasn't just his eyes that grew larger, but his whole body did. It billowed and bulged like the skin on a boiling pot. Not only that, the muted greys and silvers began to run into brilliant reds and oranges. With an almost audible pop, he burst into the form of a large gargoyle, slightly taller than the human before him.

Truly, he was irked. To have been so made fun of and teased! With a roar he spread his wings, then leered down at her, his mad white eyes still just as blind. He let drool drip from his fangs, and he clicked his foreclaws together as if relishing the idea of her being in his grasp. "Foolish mortal," he bellowed in a deep, echoing voice that he saved for special occasions. "Flee before your time is done!" Just for good measure, he leaned forward and roared again at her, mantling his wings above his back. "FLEE I SAY!"

Of course, Eex hadn't actually hurt any creature since... well... since before he could remember. But this stupid human couldn't know that, now could she? He snickered within himself. He loved making the idiots run for one reason or another!

Eftemie
User Image
She arched an eyebrow watching as he changed shape, her lips twitching upwards again. There had been something odd about the rat, but she'd not expected this. Was he a shapechanger of some sort? Or was he limited to rats and gargoyles? She suddenly decided he was most interesting and she wanted to know more.

Fear was the least of her worries at this point. She'd already died once and that had been painful. What more was there than to face one's own extinction even if for a short time?

"Mortal? Not entirely. Haven't you heard that the gods are returning and though born kings, they may be clowns? And mud-covered..." she laughed again at her private joke about herself. "What you see is not always what you get. But then you should know that even better than I as you are neither rat nor gargoyle as you pretend, Sir Rat or is it Sir Gargoyle now?"

"So what else can you become that will amuse me? I had not expected such as I explored this place." she smiled, her bubbles propelling her upwards slightly so that her eyes were on a level with his. She was extremely amused to find one such as he. Some things had changed in wonderful ways from what the past was. The people were most unexpected and it intrigued her.

Talencia
It became abundantly clear that for once his ploy had not worked. The first time in how many hundred years that a human had not fled screaming from him when he chose it? All color drained from his body, and he shrunk, his shape hinting at several others as he moved quickly from one to another, until finally he was a bent and withered old man, dressed in rags, pale and grey, with mad, scraggly white hair and beared. He snatched a knobbly stick from within his rags and glared up at her, his thin lips forming a solid pout.

But then she wasn't human, now was she? He scowled to himself. Talk of gods was dangerous. Shiftily he skittered off the rubble heap and peered up at her. It couldn't be said if he was supposedly searching her face for the truth of her words... with no pupils or any other indication of visual ability, it was impossible to say if he was or not. "What what? What's this? You speak of the gods as if you know them." His creaky voice carried dubious suspicion. "Clowning dieties, that's what they were, till the world played a joke on THEM!" His sudden cackle of laughter bounced off the broken walls and empty windows around them. "Showed em who was really in control!"

But then he stopped and frowned. That wasn't quite entirely true, and he knew it. For it was a god that was wreaking havoc of the world today, after all. "Retribution and destruction for them all," he mumbled to himself. "Stupid humans had it coming."

He recalled himself though when she demanded that he perform. Him! As if he were her trick pony. "BAH!" he barked, waving his arms wildly. Dust flew from his ragged clothes and his matted beared writhed and twisted as if of it's own will. "Go amuse yourself, batty girl." He settled back down with an indignant grunt and a grumble. "Foolish focus on fun, when worlds wither and wait!" He shook his stick at her. "Should be learning, growing, rising against!" He subsided into more grumbles and grumps that were inaudible.

Stupid gods, as stupid as the stupid humans who couldn't even look after themselves. He began to sidle towards the garden and it's limp or parched greenery. Morpa needed him, needed these plants. And here was some air-headed fool gabbing on about her own amusement!

Eftemie
User Image
"So that is the true you." she mused as she watched and listened to him rant. Then she followed lowering herself to the ground to walk beside him. The garden he entered was the one she'd just left.

"Yes, I knew them. I know them but have not met them again. Not yet. Some are returning as I am though we take the life of another to do so. I do not entirely remember it all yet, but I will. And why should Laughter wait? Does not this desolate place need a bright sparkle of laughter- of true amusement to brighten it and make things grow again?" she replied and asked. "I think laughter is a vital thing though others do not see my point of view I am sure. It is what I am."

"I was speaking of myself when I said clown." she said softly, a smile on her lips. "My name is Lisana, and I am the Goddess of Laughter. How can I help but smile when I meet one such as you and appreciate them?"

"Do not silly jokes or secret amusements ease pain or concern even if momentary? It was your own amusement that led me to understanding that you meant me no true harm. Laughter sparkles in the eyes, my friend and I of all should see and acknowledge it."

Talencia
"Bah," he grumbled as she claimed this as his true form. He waved one hand irritably in denial. He had no true form. Not anymore. Whatever form he had, that was his true form for that moment.

It was beginning to dawn on him that she was going to be doing just the opposite of what he wanted. She was going to follow him and gab at him. Grouching wordlessly, he shuffled around the garden, peering here and there for what he sought.

"What care I for the suffering of others?" he demanded, snatching up a handful of something that was tough and hardy enough to actually still be growing, in a stunted way. "All I care for it that they leave me be." Not too long ago he'd chased off some meddling old woman who'd been confinced he had to come with her. She had kept tugging at his clothes and whining at him. In exasperation he'd changed to his gargoyle form and roared at her. He'd snickered the entire time she ran screaming down the street away from him. Stupid humans. So easy to startle.

"Laughter is only good for yourself," he commented in an oadd offer of conversation. "Laughter doesn't help these plants, now does it?" He snatched up another handful of something dying and leafy, and held the pitiful foliage out to her in his knobby and creased palm. "It doesn't clear the sky of that rot they call clouds nowadays." He wheezed, as if to give proof of the awful air, then went on stuffing various greens into unseen pockets within his rags. "Go home, girly girl." he rasped. "Tend your giggle gardens and cackling clouds. There be no amusement for your kind here." He glanced upwards at the threatening brown clouds. "Or at least, none I'd care to speak with."

Her comment about laughter sparkling in eyes totally escaped him. He didn't think of himself as blind, so he chose to ignore most of what was said about his eyes... even things like that which clearly could not be true. If he'd ever stopped to think about what she'd said, he would have snorted and choked on how ridiculous it was. Laughter dancing in his eyes indeed.

"In truth, I do not help the plants directly, but I give people amusement and fun and many are even gardeners." she replied, a smile on her lips. "All things are connected. Even you and I, Sir Rat."

"And even the gods are linked. The suffering of one god damaging him or her leads to the downfall of another in some way. The same with mortals. Once the spiral has begun tis very hard to halt. The balance becomes unsettled and all dwindles. Just as this garden with no water does now. Laughter is good for everyone because it helps them enjoy life as all should. "

"If a person can laugh, they can forget for a few moments gather the strength to survive the next battle and with that comes hope."

Lisana was slightly surprised. That was something Eftemie believed as much as she did. The first thing they really had in common.

She followed him for a moment, pausing at the gate. There had been some greener hardier plants. Onions of a sort she barely remembered eating one time.

"There are wild onions at the back side protected by the wall. They would do well in a pot and are quite sweet-tasting. I think there are one or two unbroken pots at the side also. Watered regularly, they'd do well." she said softly and then offered, "We could dig them up and pot them for you."

It didn't take them long to get the plants taken care of after he gruffly accepted her offer of help. He was surprised she had and then followed through, but he thanked her. She was as surprised that she had offered to help. On occasion she had tended a few flowers but usually they were special flowers grown from magic and not so much a green thumb.

But when she was done, Lisana smiled at him somewhat mischieviously. Then she promptly hugged him tightly giggling all the while. But as she said her goodbye and walked away, she wondered if she'd meet him again.

She turned back to watch him a moment. He was chatting with the turtle in an almost agreeable way. A bit of perplexion on her face, she wondered briefly if he were not the most odd person she'd ever met.

Laughing, she turned away considering which way to go thinking that most likely he considered her the same. Maybe she would return to visit just to see how he was. But for now she was extremely tired and planned to return to Eftemie's loft. She was pushing it, she knew, but did it really matter? She'd be sleeping and Eftemie wouldn't move that way. It was a calculated risk but her return was all she really cared about at the moment.

Anything worth having was worth a risk now and then. This was hers.

A Tired Return

Eftemie Solo

The key in her hand, she moved towards the door to the building. Her feet barely lifted upwards as she climbed the steps. An exhaustion slipped through her. She'd pushed it going out as she had and her body, well, Eftemie's body still, was telling her that it wasn't going to go much further.

She had wanted to see and she had done so. What she had done was what she wanted to do no matter the cost to herself. Or her host. They'd be fine so long as their body rested. At least it was theirs for now. Soon enough it would be just hers.

In the beginning, Lisana had felt a bit guilty about taking what was not hers. But as she had looked around, she understood she was needed more than Eftemie was. Right now people needed some laughter and fun. It made the other things happening more bearable.

Tempest was going to be a problem though. The more she thought about it, the more she knew he was something she'd be unable to solve. She would have to talk to Eftemie a few more times yet to see exactly how to do this, but it would happen her way. It was already started and she was not about to let it be halted.

But then as she thought about it, Lisana knew that Eftemie would be no help at all. She wanted Tempest. It almost reminded Lisana of something familiar. Something she'd once felt, but the memory of it slipped free of her as she hesitated before the door.

A sudden sigh slipped free of her lips. Another memory that was unclear. Were those memories that eluded her the ones near the end? If so, then had she lost more than she suspected?

She remembered she had been a goddess and was becoming one again. What had her people been like? Why was Yeti the one she really remembered? Where was Yeti for that matter?

A brief memory of casting a spell on him to turn him to stone dropped down on her. Her expression flickered. She'd thought he'd be safe but after all this time, was he truly safe as she had planned? The thought of broken buildings made of stone and wood appeared in front of her. Had he been broken?

Shaking her head to free it of the doubt, Lisana nearly growled in sudden frustration. Surely he was not. She'd meant for him to be protected and until proven otherwise, she needed the thought that he was free and looking for her or at least alive. So little was left of what she had once known that she desperately needed the thought of one of her friends safe and sound.

The key finally turned in the door. She peeked inside before fully entering. Quite certain that they would be upset with her, she simply wanted to avoid a confrontation. Seeing noone there, she entered the living room locking the door behind her.

Joe walked from the kitchen. "Eftemie! I've been worried about you."

Lisana blinked nearly flinching. She didn't want to explain to them and so she took the easy way out. Shoving Eftemie forwards with a smirk, she receded leaving the girl in charge.

Eftemie staggered, blinking in surprise. She glanced at the keys in her hand as well as the bag she held.

"What..? Uncle Joe?" she asked as he grabbed hold of her.

"What have you been doing, child? You are muddy from head to toe." he asked as he stared at her.

"Doing? Muddy..?" she replied looking down over her clothing. Some of the mud was dried, but mostly it was wet and uncomfortable. "I don't know. I don't remember."

"Are you alright?" he asked in concern, ushering her over to sit in a chair.

"I'm fine. I think..." she answered, blinking in confusion as she glanced around the room. A sudden shiver slipped over her and she yawned tiredly. "I think I'm really tired. I need a bath."

The man frowned in concern. "I'll get your robe from upstairs for you." Why did she not remember what she was doing? Her memory was bad but she usually did not look so confused.

Tempest had related what he suspected and Joe had seen the mometary flicker in her eyes as if someone else was looking at him. What was this... goddess doing that she came back this way? Whatever it was, he didn't like it.

"Alright, Uncle Joe." she said softly patting his shoulder as she handed him the bag and the key that matched it. "Just put these on a shelf somewhere in my loft. I'll figure out what it is later. I just want a bath."

Joe frowned as she moved towards the bathroom. He stared at the bag and key she had slipped into his hands. Something seemed to move within, and the key looked the same as the marking on the outside. Whatever it was, she had decided to keep it, so he placed it on the shelf in her room. Then with her robe in his hands, he headed back downstairs.

Knocking at the door, he said, "Efte, it's Uncle Joe. Here's your robe. It's on the doorknob. Are you hungry?"

"Hungry? A little."

Her reply was slow as if she had to think about it and the words received another frown from him. He shut the door moving towards the kitchen. What was wrong with her? Why did she seem so tired? And what had she been doing outside and alone?

Most of the mud had come off in the shower, but she was so tired, she just wanted to sit. Filling the tub with water, she stepped in. The warmth crept into her drawing a sigh as she settled down into it. She stared at her legs and feet for several moments before she frowned. There were changes that were plainly obvious. And the gem in her navel was surrounded by... crystals?

And where were all the bubbles coming from? They continually popped in the air about her and it was beginning to get a bit annoying. What was happening to her?

The stone faintly gleamed again. Her eyes turned downward as she studied it further. With a sigh, she leaned back soaking in the warmth as she thought about what was happening as she closed her eyes.

What was it she had said? She was a goddess from the stone. Her eyes opened and she stared at it again before closing them again.

A violet sparkle refracted in the light as she moved. What other changes would there be? Was she going to sprout horns or feathers next? Or even hooves?

A sudden image of a purple creature slipped down over her. It had four hooves though it walked upright, short violet fur covering it's body with tails and wings covered in white and lavendar feathers. One spiral white horn gleamed from its forehead.

Her eyes suddenly snapped open as she growled.

"Oh! Give me a break! There's no such creature!"

*Are you sure?* came a tired smirk.

For an instant she hesitated.

"Oh shut up..." she muttered.

A slight snicker echoed but whether in the air or her mind, she was unsure. It had been as clear as a bell to her though and she tried to push the thoughts away. They didn't go as easily as they once had, but they finally went and she nearly fell asleep in the water. Her fingers were pruned by the time Joe knocked on the door.

By the time she was dressed and eating, Eftemie had little appetite. She picked at her food before finally pushing it away.

"It's good, Uncle Joe. I'm just tired." she said, getting to her feet. "I'm going to take a nap. Where's Tempest?"

"He went out looking for you." the man stated, frowning as he watched her closely.

She nodded, moving up out of the room and up the staircase to the loft. No sooner had she touched the bed than she was asleep. He followed, tucking her in before sitting down in a chair nearby. She was exhausted which only worried him more than he already was.

Was this... goddess really taking her from them? And if so, then what did they do? How did they stop her?

More importantly, could they stop her at all?

:: What Is Left? ::

Eftemie Solo

(11.11.07)

A person only gets so much life and so many chances. When those are used up, what is left?

He laughed as the thought crossed his mind. His were all used up. At least he felt that way. Used up. Exhausted. Tired of it all. His entire life had been searching for something or someone. And he'd found her.

Now he was losing her.

It was obvious to him that he was going to find himself without Eftemie one morning. He'd wake up and it would be Lisana in his arms. Not the girl he loved. She was slipping away more and more each day. She was weak and barely alert if she were awake. Each day less and less of her laughter came forward, sucked away by the stone and the goddess embedded there.

Desperately he wished he'd not given it to her. But it was a moot point because he had and it was there in her navel no matter how many times he closed his eyes and wished it was not.

He remembered what that strange girl had said to him. Gods were returning and Eftemie was now one of them. Not exactly. She was host and slowly losing what she was. Lisana's presence was obvious when she had taken control. Where once Eftemie had talked and laughed with him, she now laughed sadly because anything else drained her too much. She moved as little as possible.

All he could do was hold her and try not to cry. At least until Lisana showed up. Then he left the room immediately. He had nothing to say to her. If he could get rid of her, he would.

His unhappiness reflected in his attitude even though he tried hard not to let it do so. He'd only just found her. His anger at the goddess only began to grow, but he stifled it because Eftemie was still there.

When she was no longer there, it would not matter. Nothing would to him. He'd never understand someone who took a life whether by murder or this. Either way, the person was just as dead.

One day she'd know what it was to have the very thing you needed most taken away. And if the opportunity presented itself, he'd not hesitate to take it.

Tempest growled as he walked towards the building, his key in his hand. Moonshadow was at his side nearly all the time now. As was Yuri. The two aiko seldom if ever left him. He had explained to them what was happening to her, but they had said little. Neither seemed to want to be around her any longer.

He patted both as he opened the door.

"I guess we'll see if she's back yet. If not then we'll have to go back out and look for her." the man stated as he moved aside to let them in.

*That is fine, Tempest.* Yuri replied as Moon's throat rumbled his acquiescence.

"Joe?" he called as he locked the door back. "Where are you?"

"Shhh... " came the man's voice as he leaned over the railing of the loft bedroom. "She's asleep."

He blinked, turning towards the stairs immediately. By the time he was standing over her, Joe was staring at him in surprise.

"When did she...?"

"About an hour ago. She was covered with mud from head to toe, handed me that bag and key over there on the shelf, took a bath, ate a little, and was asleep almost instantly."

"Was it her or Efte?"

"I think she was there until she saw me. Then it was like Eftemie was shoved or something. She seemed so confused, Tempest." he said shaking his head. "I don't like this. Not all all."

"Neither do I, Joe. I just found her." he said softly, leaning over to kiss her on the cheek.

"You look tired yourself."

"I am. I walked all over town without stopping looking for her. Yuri and Moon are as tired and frustrated as I am." he said sitting down on the bed. His fingers stroked her cheek as he brushed the hair from her eyes.

"I'm going to head downstairs and sit with Jace awhile. Curl up with her, Tempest. You can use the rest too." he said, patting the younger's shoulder before he moved by him. This was just a no-win situation.

Nodding, he kicked his boots off before slipping over onto the bed. Curling up against her, he slipped his arm over her, his face in her hair.

"I love you, Eftemie."

Their life was almost used up.

As he curled up beside her, Eftemie's eyes opened. She blinked tiredly as she turned more towards him.

"Did I wake you?" he asked, his voice whisper soft and gentle.

"Not really." she replied, reaching out to push the hair back from his eyes. How she loved those violet eyes. Her finger slid down his jaw, tracing as if to memorize his outline. "I'm sorry that I've been so out of it."

"It's alright. It's not your fault." he replied. It really was not but he didn't want her to worry and know he was beginning to hate the other within her. Moving forward, he kissed her gently on the lips. "I love you, Efte."

"I know. I love you, too, Johannes." she smirked using his real name, and then added, "When I'm feeling better, we should take Elana and go do something special again. I think we'd have fun."

"Yeah. Let's do that." he stated, but knew they never would.

"Good." she said, curling up against him, her eyes shut.

His arms tightened around her as if he could hold onto her and this moment and drive everything and everyone else away. Secretly he knew it wouldn't happen no matter how hard he tried.

He was losing her and that's all there was to it. Tempest had never felt so helpless in his entire life. Not even when his father had been such a pain about Elana. And never had life looked so dismal as it did right now.

Tempest suddenly knew he'd never get over this. The pain was too deep after all the other things that had happened in his life. It had always been he and Elana together against the world.

It still was and would always be. They would not be staying much longger. Perhaps Yuri and Moonshadow would want to come along. He'd ask. Afterall neither one was happy they were losing her either.

Was this really all there was for them?

He avoided the answer by shoving it away. That could not be done long.

(11.17.07)

He lay in that hazy state where one was not entirely awake, nor entirely asleep. Vague thoughts caught his attention as they passed by. His arms tightened around her as she lay sleeping there, her head on his shoulder.

The idea of losing her was there but fuzzy as he continued to drift. Tempest didn't want her to know how unhappy he was, but he knew she saw it without saying a word. It was in her touch on his face or her fingers as she brushed his hair back to look into his eyes. It was spoken in every word of silence she laced into her avoidance and in clinging to him when they were alone.

They both knew. It didn't need to be said. They lived it.

What could they do? There was no way to stop this. Was there? Everyone seemed so certain that it could not be. Did he just accept it or fight it or move on?

He didn't want to move on. The girl of his dreams had just been found. And now he was losing her.

His eyes suddenly snapped open and a peevish expression crossed his face. His eyes narrowed as he grit his teeth, clutching her closer.

"What the hell do I do now?" he snarled angrily, not expecting a reply.

She moved, her eyes opening in confusion and surprise. Then they fully opened wide as she stiffened in his arms.

Tempest froze knowing immediately that it was not Eftemie who was there, but Lisana. It took all his will not to move for a moment, but then he shoved her away, getting off the bed.

"I won't apologize." he snapped, disgusted. "You don't belong here."

Lisana stared at him in surprise as she barely caught herself before rolling off the opposite side of the bed.

"Whether I do or not, I'm here." she stated shoving the hair from her eyes sleepily.

Whirling in sudden fury, Tempest glared as he growled, "And taking what is not yours! The gods died long ago. Go back. Why are you here when you are not wanted nor needed?"

For a brief instant, she merely stared at him. "You don't think we are needed with the state of things out there? Once I have more power I can put things to right wherever I am. Destruction is out there and..."

"Destruction?" he interrupted, "Another god? Let me guess..." he folded his arms as he continued. "He's doing all this. Why? Because he has nothing better to do? Whose life did he take? I'm guessing with him here, he's become the excuse for the rest of you to return. Strangely we were doing just fine without gods around all these years."

He laughed angrily, "So we have gods returning, creating trouble that was unnecessary to justify their return and call in more gods. Bah! You had your turn and screwed it up. Otherwise, none of you would have died. This is our chance."

Lisana blinked in surprise at the tirade that spewed from the man's lips. He was furious and in a way, he was right.

"I don't believe that Creation ever left." she stated unsurely. She had no way of knowing, but it was an instinct that he had to have to bring them back. "I have no way of knowing, but the stones containing us could only have been fashioned by he. Only he is in control of what is given life. He is... Destruction... but something must have went wrong. It will take more than I to put his aspect right again."

"Oh great..." Tempest laughed in derision, entirely disgusted. "You've all screwed it up again. My point made exactly."

He stared at her beligerantly. "So if this Creation is fixed, you will all leave?"

"No. We are here to stay. This cannot be regressed." she stated surely. "This host's body will become entirely my own. She is the sacrifice needed to let me live."

"Don't talk about her like that!" he snapped suddenly, his arms unfolding as he clenched his fists in rage. "She's not just your damned host, but a thinking feeling person. Far too good for the likes of you."

Silently Lisana stared at him. Her words soft, she began, "I know you love her. I can feel it."

"Shut up! And stay out of that! It does not belong to you! The only thing you have is my hatred for doing this!" Tempest snarled, turning immediately. A moment more and he was out the door of the apartment.

Lisana stared after him, suddenly sighing as she sat in the center of the bed. To injure him so had not been her intention though som part of her had known he would be. She gave a small very sad laugh.

Ironic. She was Laughter. Not Injury nor Pain. Yet she had given both.

She suddenly knew it would only get worse between them. It was not what she had wanted. Not at all.

"Well, I guess even paradise has its troubles. A snake in the garden, no?" her voice was soft as she whispered to the air her lame joke. Another sad laugh slipped free before she thought about the day ahead.

This was her only chance and she had to make it what it needed to be. There was no other choice for her.

Eftemie Solo

(12.02.07)

Instead of leaving, Lisana curled up in the center of the bed. The fight with Tempest had stung and he was right, but so was she. A bit of tiredness slipped down over her as not just physical exhaustion but mental anguish appeared. There was so much she still needed to do.

Perhaps she should rest. A yawn suddenly slipped free, causing her to sigh as much in surprise as exhaustion.

Maybe she should try Eftemie again. That could give her a clue to Tempest and how to deal with him. Perhaps the girl was finally going to understand.

Closing her eyes, Lisana moved her thoughts to the place she knew the girl was. Instead of the dusty room that had been her sanctuary, a room full of sparkling windows greeted her.

Sunshine streamed in through the glass where prisms sparkled as they hung from the thin white curtains. Rainbows shimmered that noone would ever see other than the two minds there now.

She'd expected her to be dusting books or other items she had tucked away there. Instead she didn't see her. Then she noticed the girl sitting in a shadowed corner just staring at the floor. A sudden sigh echoed as Lisana watched her.

"Eftemie?"

At first there was no reply. Only silence greeted her.

"Yes." The single word echoed around the room as the girl continued staring across the room.

"Are you... unwell?"

"A bit late to be asking that, no?"

"I see."

"Do you? I don't."

Lisana said nothing for a moment, then she sat down on the floor beside her.

"You finally understand."

"Yes. What will become of me?"

"I..." she hesitated. "You will fade away or become a part of me."

"Fade away? You mean die."

Lisana winced, glancing away quickly. A bit of guilt slid down over her as a frown flickered across her features.

"Yes."

"So my life truly has meant nothing. I guess I've always known that." she stated tiredly, voice flat.

"It doesn't mean nothing. If not for you, I'd not be here."

"If it meant something, it would not be ending." she replied, glancing over at the goddess who returned the stare. "I heard what you said to Tempest. It cannot be stopped."

Lisana remained silent, turning away.

"Don't worry. I don't hate you, I don't like you very much either." she stated. "Tempest will never forgive you. I was going to ask... but it doesn't matter now. It's a promise you can never fulfill."

"No. He will not. I... He loves you a great deal. I never meant to hurt either of you."

"Hurt him?" Eftemie suddenly laughed, a sharp cruel sound. "What the hell did you think would happen?"

"I'm sorry."

"No, you aren't." Eftemie replied quickly. "You'd still take my life from me for your own. I always knew I counted for nothing. It's why I always avoided. At least I could pretend it did matter that I was here."

Lisana remained silent again. She now understood what Eftemie ws doing here. She'd been putting her house in order for what she knew was coming. A flinch crossed her shoulders again.

"How long?"

"I'm not entirely sure. Both of us will change if I take you as part of myself."

Eftemie was silent this time for several long moments.

"No. I have no wish to be part of you. If you screw it up this time, then there could be a next time. As part of you, it would make me as responsible. I will not do that to another living being. There is nothing you have to offer me. I prefer to fade."

Lisana blinked hard. She had thought to have the sparkle that was Eftemie still with her. Instead there would only be silence, an emptiness and sadness that none would ever fill. A wince crept over her as she got to her feet.

"If that is what you want, then so be it. But I would not be the same either. It would be someone new and neither of us."

"It is what I want." she stated again.

"If you change your mind..."

"I will not. Take care of Uncle Joe. He's lost so much already."

"No. I don't suppose you will. I can do that."

With a heavy heart she walked away from the girl. Silence would be all that there was there now. She knew the girl would not change her mind. Yet ultimately it was her choice what should happen.

Eftemie had little choice in this entire scenario. All she could give her was this choice now. But the girl's words had stung no less than those of Tempest.

Curling up in the center of the bed, Lisana stared at the wall silently. A few tears slipped free soaking into the pillow.

She laughed sadly. Even a goddess of laughter had occasion to cry.

That's how Joe found her. He moved towards her, calling softly, "Eftemie?"

Lisana turned to stare at him, wiping the tears away quickly. "No." she replied, her voice so soft he could barely hear her. But he understood.

Sitting down on the edge of the chair, Joe watched her a moment. She gazed at him somewhat defiantly knowing he was Eftemie's uncle. So sure was she that he was going to be as angry as Tempest, she clenched her jaw tightly waiting for the recriminations to come.

They never did. Instead he sighed, leaning back in the chair. He ran a hand through his hair rubbing his head as if tired. He was.

"I'm guessing you are upset about something. Want to talk about it?" he asked softly, his eyes going back to her face.

"Not really." she said, pulling her legs up against her. Her arms slipped around and she just sat silently watching him.

"What's your name?" he asked.

She stared at him. "Lisana."

"Lisana. Yet is downstairs. He's been searching for you."

His words caught her offguard. "Yeti? He's alive then? I did what I could to protect him before it all crumbled." She blinked hard for a moment, trying to shove what she was feeling aside. A familiar face in all this would be comforting. She loved Yeti despite how ugly everyone thought he was.

Joe continued to watch her for a long moment. She glanced away, unable to meet his eyes.

"It's not easy, is it?"

"No."

"Why Eftemie?"

She drew her breath in sharply for a moment. At some point she'd known someone would ask.

"She's... the one most like me. Like I used to be I think. I don't remember everything but she laughed the way I always wanted everyone to." she whispered softly.

"I thought it was something like that." he replied, feeling even more tired than he was before. "No way to stop it, I suppose."

"No. I can't and neither can anyone else. I tried.. but she doesn't want to be part of me. I guess I deserve it. I didn't want..."

Joe's eyes watched her closely. "So what would have happened if she had agreed? And who exactly are you?"

Lisana's eyes darted back to his face. "It wouldn't have been me nor her. Someone else with both the things we know. I failed all that time ago, but I don't know why. I don't think any of us really do. I've not really asked or had a chance to find out. But I thought if she were part of what is coming then maybe there was a chance it would change. "

"The same mistakes wouldn't be made, you mean."

"Yes. And I'm the Goddess of Laughter. But I guess all laughter isn't bright and sparkly, is it?" she smiled sadly, her face still puffy from crying. She shrugged suddenly. "I knew it would hurt but I didn't care. I was supposed to come back and she... sparkled."

"Yes. Her laughter always has. With all that she's been through, it always made her shine more." Joe agreed.

"She asked me to take care of you." Lisana stated, watching him as he suddenly glanced away to hide the brightness of tears in his eyes.

"Yes, she would have asked that." he finally said softly.

"I promised I would. You wouldn't be a.. servant or anything. Just... " she stopped, teeth tugging on her lower lip. Had she had a family as Eftemie had? She didn't remember, but a part of her wondered and wanted him to stay.

He glanced back, meeting her eyes. A smiled ghosted across his face. Suddenly he saw her a small frightened child staring at him as if afraid he'd leave her. Joe realized now that it was as hard on her as on them and Eftemie. Only time would tell what would come of it. Right now they were all simply caught in a trap in the midst of a world that was changing. Who knew what they would end up?

"We'll see, Lisana, but I'll stay for awhile. Are you hungry? I'm sure Jace will stay for awhile also."

The goddess blinked hard nodding. "Just something light. Some tea. I'm still kind of tired today."

"Alright." he said, getting to his feet. As he started down the stairs, Joe said softly over his shoulder, "I'll send Yeti up."

Eftemie Solo

(06.14.08 )

There are poignant moments in one's life that one never wants to forget. And then there are those moments that are no less brilliant that one wishes to go away. When he understood that Eftemie was gone, Tempest had one of the lesser moments. The forgettable ones. There was nothing he could do to stop what was happening, but he couldn't remain to watch either. With his decision made, he began to pack.

Eftemie was nearly gone and even though 'she' still looked similar, the differences were striking. The subtle coloration and crystals creeping over her body, The constant bubbles slipping into the air around her. Other things he had noticed also until he thought she looked very little like the girl he had fallen in love with.

The very worst part of it was that he didn't understand how the gods could give her to him and then immediately take her away. If there was a god of cruelty, then this must certainly be his domain and actions. She was the girl of his dreams and he could not have her. Nothing was crueler than that.

The thought of the others crossed his mind. Joe and Jace would most definitely remain here with her. Joe couldn't do otherwise. The animals he was very unsure of. Moonshadow he knew was remaining. How long or why he was not sure, but he was Eftemie's and he had curled up near the bed in her room. Tempest would miss them, but he and Elana would be better off on their own now.

Packing only what was important to him, the man frowned as he heard a voice.

*Tempest, I'd like to go with you, but Moon is remaining. Sable has asked also. If you do not mind that is. " The tone was tentative and unhappy, but Yuri did not want to remain here though he would return to check on Moonshadow from time to time. Eftemie would want Tempest and Elana safe. With the three aiko, they would be.

He turned around to appraise the feline for an instant. Then he nodded. "Of course, you and Sable are welcome, Yuri. And I knew Moon was remaining."

*Then we leave with you.*

Two days later, Tempest, Elana, Yuri, Sable, and Tor left the apartment. For a long moment Tempest remained staring upwards at it. It was not a place he ever wanted to visit again. His dreams had been destroyed by the one there, but as he did so, his hand slipped into his pocket to touch something there.

He'd seen the masks on the wall from the carnival they had given her. Those only reminded him of the stone and how he had lost her. But as he'd passed by the table in the living room, his eyes had stopped on the bracelet he had given her. The glass beads shined brightly and he was holding it in his hand before he realized he'd even picked it up. He nearly put it back but then knew he needed something to remember the girl he loved so. It went into his pocket instead.

At least he had that and his fingers rubbed the glass gently for a moment.

"Let's go. There's nothing left here for us." Slipping his hat on, he began to move down the street. Hopefully he'd never see this place again.

As the next couple days passed, there were several changes. Some subtle but others very noticeable. The absence of Tempest and those with him was very noticeable, but others were not.

Sonora and Atala were both stardust and they disappeared while Sere, Jerecho, Royale, and Cache remained. They were mostly quiet but aware something was changing. Sere had thought to leave but he'd lost two owners already. It hurt to be alone out there, so rather than face it on his own, he opted to remain.

The nymphs, Catnip, Camphor, and Chloe, were unseen except when one of the stardust approached the garden. It was barely growing at all though it was tended carefully, but when greeted, they would stay for a few moments.

Xerxces, a drake, remained around. His hoard of things he was constantly taking was growing. And so long as noone tried to prevent his taking things, he didn't mind at all what was going on. And Joe knew that if it couldn't be found, to look to the drake's pile of treasure. It would be there.

The one most affected by the disappearance of Eftemie was Ataxis. The draught was constantly creeping up the stairs and slinking around to hide nearby. He was upset by the changes and snapped at anyone who neared him. He knew something was wrong with her, but not what and he simply did not feel at ease by what he sensed more than saw. Several times he would get up on the foot of the bed but the moment she moved, he was gone, moving away to sit and watch from a corner.

Lisana noted it but she said nothing about it. She was unsure what to do about the creature. All she could hope was that Eftemie would eventually tell her what he needed. If she would speak to her again. For now an uneasy truce was maintained by those living together in Eftemie's building and only time would tell if it got better or worse.

Eftemie Solo

07.14.08

The day could have been bright and sunny. It was not. The day could even have had fresh air. It did not. The day might even have been spent with a friend or lover. It could not. She reflected over the things she would liked to have had, but did not. Tempest and Elana were gone. A part of her ached. The part that was Eftemie, but there was little that could be done now and she moved quickly to the outside of the building looking around.

For a long moment she just stared at the street, the barricades nearby, the stale breeze pushing things around. What had brought this world to this state? She could not have answered it if she tried. She had nothing to base much on except rumors that she heard Jace and Joe speaking of while they thought her asleep. The main thought on her mind was to wonder if she had returned only to die again.

Would she go down without a fight? Could she allow herself to? And what of those within her care already? All these thoughts she may have had before, but she remembered a party last time. What would she remember next time?

Shaking herself in sudden frustration, Lisana clenched her hands into fists tightly. It was not fair to take Eftemie's life if she did nothing with it. What should she.. what could she do? Would it even help? A thought of the glade behind the meadow came to her. The girl had walked there alot spending time with the creatures there. Some were gone. Moonshadow and Yuri. She did not know if they would return, but a few memories were opent to her. The fact that she had seen them.

Even as she reflected upon the scattered images and thoughts in her mind, the goddess found herself on the path that lead behind the place they all lived. The meadow's once glorious flowers and breathtaking vistas were gone. In its place lay barren, open sections of decaying plantlife seeming pockmarks and sores upon the ground.

A gasp slipped through her at the thought of such lost beauty that had once clung to fingers that glided along the path merrily. Nothing rose into the air as the butterflies, dragonflies, and Mikimoo had, covering the sky with rainbows and fun. Suddenly she missed it, a wretched feeling that slammed deep inside her.

What was it that she thought she could do?

The more she walked around looking at the way things were now, the more she growled at herself. This place had once been beautiful with all the creatures and flowers. Now it looked like something from a nightmare. Barren. Decaying. Lifeless.

But what could she do? Her power was laughter and fun. Jokes most certainly could not heal this. At least not alone. So what should she do? Were the others having the same troubles? She wondered if they were as worried as she was about the state of things. All she could do was ask.

A faint memory of the shop and where Eftemie had found gods slipped down over her. It had taken several long moments of struggling to take the remembrance from the girl. She was still fighting and nothing came easily between them. Lisana wished it would for she truly wanted and needed her host's help.

To her way of thinking, they had failed in the past as they were. With a willing host, she could become what she had not been. The same mistakes would not be there. At least she hoped they would not. It would be new for them both. But Eftemie had not agreed and it led her to this uncertain state when she should have had the strength she needed. Wanted. Hoped for.

Instead she was walking through a lifeless meadow looking for what once was. She shivered to think of doing what she needed to alone. Could she do it? Would she fail again? Should she push the girl one more time and hope?

"Coulda, woulda, shoulda.."
she growled in sudden irritation. Turning back for the buildings, she walked silently until she reached the street.

For a long moment she stared around her, clenching her teeth and fists. Her stomach was knotted as her eyes took in the barricades, locked and broken doors. She had to do something. Anything was better than sitting and twiddling her thumbs. She'd do what she could and if she failed again, then at least she tried this time.

At least there was that.

It's being adjusted because it was inthread and begun on July 6, the week of sloth but we didn't do any of that in misunderstanding. So it's going to be added to a thread and continued. A link will soon be added but I have to hold a place for it, so I can add Envy and others.

A triumphant return
Attendees : Open

It was a sound reminiscent of gently falling rain.

If rain were plastic ponies.

They peppered the floor in rainbow colors and sparkles, materializing from thin air and wafting to the ground in pairs, then triplets, then small armies. Soon there was a small pile of them. And still they fell.

Soon interwoven in them were small stuffed equines. Glass eyes round and somewhat startled at their fate. They fell with a softer hiss of styrofoam and faux fur.

A rustle akin to fall leaves was evidence only of leaflets advertising "The Magic Pony". They peppered the pile which was suddenly moving in small fits.

A sudden idignant braying was heard as a donkey flailed out of the air on top of the pile which emitted a sudden distressed squeak.

Topping this rather confectionary mess was a rather beaten and maligned old stuffed pony, with moths still circling it in distress.

Eftemie

He was still looking for the goddess and had not seen her yet. She should be appraised of the condition of those who lived with her and he had been sent on the task. It was, afterall, safer for a ghost to walk around than someone living. And he loved the expression on the faces of those he surprised, but the more he walked the more tired he got. It was as if something dragged against him or rather he was dragging something behind him. Large and heavy.

The place had looked interesting enough and he walked from room to room, poking his head in here and there. As he stepped into the hallway, he noted the stairs. Rather than climb them, and as tired as he was still, he did not want to have to search the entire place. So to search the entire place, he pulled his head off and tossed it up high through the floor. His body stood arms outstretched to catch it, but his focus was on what his eyes saw and ears heard. His head landed on the floor and then slowly sank back down. He was far too tired to pull it back to him faster and each movement was wearing his patience thin. Noone that he could see and certainly not she. He was just twisting his head back on when a sound behind him startled him. Turning he stared in surprise as colored creatures dropped to the floor.

chaeval
The pile made a rather odd sound, something akin to "mrrph!" and "eeep" with a dash of "ow" for flavor. A rather longish fin shaped fleshy protrusion crested the wave of toys and quivered there as an olfactory scope.

And then came the donkey, all angry hooves and idignant swishy tail. The protrusion vanished in a wail and bray.

Eftemie
"And I was thought to be strange," Meroe stated, blinking several times to make certain that he had seen rightly. "Are you in distress? Do you need help getting out?" Not that he'd have been able to help as intangible as he was.

He stood there rather transparently wondering what he should do and if he had the strength to do it with. If this person did, then he would have to find them someone else. There was little to do when he could not grasp to help. But for the life of him he could not understand what was happening. So he remained to watch, forgetting what he had been sent to do.

chaeval
The donkey stared at him, quite displeased at being ignored from the offer of solicitation. As if it understood what was said, and that it had been exluded.

Braying, he flickered his ears and scrabbled at the toys in more earnest annoyance, causing a squawk from within the pile.

Eftemie
Meroe stepped forwards, tilting his head and sighing tiredly. "I gather there are two of you in there. I had wondered what sort of odd creature you were to be partially buried and showing. I'd offer a hand, but as you can see, I'm as transparent as can be."

"Meroe is the name." he grinned faintly, then pulled his head off bowing to both. He wondered if a donkey would get perturbed at the sight.

chaeval

As disturbing as such a thing might have normally been, the donkey was most certainly NOT impressed. It proved it by finally removing himself from the still showering pile of ponies and giving them a round kick.

The squeal was pure indignation and an eruption of protests resulted.

"My dear sir!" he yelled "Truly a least gracious nag has ever been spawned! Why you treat as if this was MY fault!"

Cinderfae
Cinder walked the street heading back to the Pantheon, the bits of ash and signs of destruction littered the roads and what remained of the nearby plant life. With a frown she took in the signs of all that had gone wrong and found her footsteps hurried. She had found a young girl injured and wanting only that her god would come to her...Cinder hoped that she would in fact get to see him and that she would survive. The feeling of the gem in her hip caused her pause a moment, there were so many sacrifices and would be so many more to come.

With a resigned sigh of one feeling too old she reached up and pushed the door of the Pantheon open. Stepping into the entrance her eyes went over following the sound of others within the building. Walking forward she finally came upon a strange scene. Toys littered the floor in various spots and a rather hostile looking donkey moved about.

"It's the end of the world or something and we have a donkey now...seriously why do we have a donkey?" Confusion in the redhead's voice was clear and an expression of perplexity shown.

chaeval
"End of the world?" yelped the protruding nose. "Did you say end of the world?"

There was a mini avalanche of brightly colored ponies as the nose again resurfaced. Followed by a wide-brimmed and floppy hat that seemed welded to the very skull it perched on.

The elderly man scrambled about for footing in the pile, and finally gave himself up for toyed. "I say, would you give an elderly knight a hand?"

Eftemie

Meroe watched the old fellow, but shook his head slowly. It tilted oddly and he reached up to straighten it out with transparent fingers. He still did not understand why this mattered and he should be doing something. For an instant he could not remember. But then he did. He needed to find her, but right at the moment, even as a ghost, he wanted mostly to sit down. It was just that sort of day.

"I would, sir, but I'm afraid I'm far too intangible for such an event to occur. Perhaps the young lady will assist you." The ghost had drifted closer to the pile of brightly colored things. "Is there a reason why these things are scattered about and there are so many?"

Cinderfae

Cinder looked down to the elderly man somewhat suspiciously before reaching out to help him up. "A knight in a pile of...ponies and with a donkey." Cinder let a resigned sigh out as she stepped back careful not to get prodded with the unreasonably floppy hat.

"As for end of the world, there was some sort of," Cinder frowned as she almost said earthquake. It was a bit like one but not exact. "Well some sort of shockwave I suppose. Caused damage all over..." Her eyes flickered over the area, "I have a sneaking suspicion it had something to do with this place."

After a moment Cinder shook her head slightly, "I'm Cinder...and who are you uhm...Knight?"

((sorry about that slow slow response))

chaeval

The man, now somewhat on his feet (although tottering precariously on the various ponies) was completely still, only the quivering of his nose showing movement. "I apologize." he answered, blinking slowly. "I appear less than my usual self." he sketched a very slight bow, barely a movement towards it, not drawing his hat off. "The name is -"

"Pony." murmurred a second voice from the pile. "I was supposed to find her."

"My Lord." the man turned, and waded slowly back into the pile. "Are you hurt?" he reached his clothy arms into the plastic confectionary and helped drag a rather bedraggled firebird from the pile. Byrne's wings were drooping and his feathers sagged. He was clutching a battered and oversized stuffed pony to him. The toy was almost as large as he. They both seemed to struggle with their burden of self and other, and then they both sat down abruptly, the stuffed horse making a sound much like a sigh as the stuffing in it resettled. It's one missing eye made it look like a wink as moths lethargically clung to the surface of it.

Eftemie

Meroe drifted closer, tilting his head in surprise. "There is a third person in there. Amazing." He leaned over to look at the horses only to have his head fall off and into the midst. A muffled sigh was heard as his body began to grope around, hands sliding through the stuffed toys.

"Why is it.." he grumbled as his hands finally found his nose and continued to feel around blindly. "that I cannot seem to keep my head on today? It's becoming quite taxing."

An instant later, his hands had found the head and was once more trying to attach it. Eyes blinked in sudden frustration. "You've got me backwards. Turn me around so I can see."

Cinderfae
Cinder frowned a long moment watching the responses and then her eyes drifted to Bryne. Quirking a brow she watched him a moment her eyes then drifting to the pony he carried. At Meroe's mention Cinder eyes then travelled over to the pile of ponies on the floor; quirking a brow slightly she vaguely wondered if there was anyone else in the pile. Moving over she thought it best if she just took a seat for a while, closing her eyes a moment she relaxed in a chair shoved over to the corner of the room.

"Right so...Knight Pony and uhm...the Bird man. Who were you looking for? And do the ponies have something to do with how you are searching?"

There is something...
Karaskis seemed interested and had taken to hanging near the back of Cinder sight in an attempt to confirm her own suspicions as she looked over the two. Something just out of her grasp as she studied the strange grouping in the middle of the room.

"Myself, I'm suppose to be finding someone named Illumin...or maybe that strange man with the bunny ears."
Looking again to the group with the ponies Cinder's expression said it all. If anyone could find the bunny eared man it would be a couple of guys with a bunch of plastic ponies.

chaeval
"Illumin?" Byrne's ears pricked up slightly in recognition. "The moths would like that, I think. Bright and happy." his fingers fondled the frizzy mane from the toy. "We were looking for the ma-"

"for an equine of unbridled power and majesty!" cut in the elder.

"pony." Byrne completed.

"Pony." the other agreed with a resigned sob.

Eftemie

Sitting down on the floor, Meroe scratched his head for a moment. "So you are looking for a pony. It seems to me that you found more than one. But then I would assume it is more a matter of the proper one. Well, where would a pony hide? Especially one with such esteem."

"Perhaps.." Meroe said as a sudden thought struck him. "It is in the very last place you would think to look." This talk of ponies and power and majesty was beginning to wear on him. Why was he feeling so odd? Shaking himself for an instant, he turned his attention back to those in front of him.

Cinderfae
"Uh-huh...so," Cinder eyes Bryne a moment, "who are you exactly?"

She shifted slightly in her seat allowing herself for a moment to relax even with the medicine moving through her veins the various aches from earlier were still there. She watched the two again, apparently they had gone looking for a horse and ended up with other things...or rather many many small representations of them and the donkey.

Karaskis continued to observe staying quiet which was quite unlike herself when taking such interest in things. Cinder wished if she knew anything that she would add it or at least give some inkling of what was going on. Having gone so long with being annoyed by continuous commentary from Karaskis it was almost strange to now want more of it.

"Im afraid that might have been my doing." The elder said. "I am Amaros, knight - assistant, courior, artist, actor and man of many talents." he lifted his hat. "as of now I am the most loyal and trusted of paiges to Lord Byrne, the Phoenix."

"Im Byrne." the youth agreed with a smile that was semi-bright. His plumage tickled his nose and he sneezed. "The magic pony was in the theatre, but I can't find her. She might need apples glazed in spices and wine to make her come."

"I asked the Lord Byrne to use his powers to summon this steed -"

"Pony." the boy corrected

"to him." Amaros finished, his nostrils twitching distress. "all seemed well until ... this." he pointed to the pile. "by the way...where are we?"

"Home." Byrne answered. "Wanna see my room?"

Eftemie

Meroe frowned thoughtfully for a moment. "That explains the whys of so many. But which is the proper one? I supposed we should find some wine and ... apples glazed. It has been many a day since I've tasted wine. I can believe she would come for such. The fruit of the grape calls to many. Your room? Certainly if it will solve this problem."

He sighed suddenly at the memories, but as he leaned back to revel in their wonder, his head dropped off again. Once more the body groped around. "What is wrong with me this day? I seem to be less than I have been before and have little hold upon my own head?"

Cinderfae
Cinder quirked a brow at the various responses and sighed, she didn't have time for this and yet at the same time she wanted to stay settled in the seat she was in. It had after all been a very long day. If he had rooms in the Pantheon that meant he was a deity and from the introduction it seemed a Phoenix deity...whatever that was. Well she wasn't going to go look for a magic horse but perhaps she could get some sort of information.

"Before you go off showing your room and such to everyone...I have a question." Cinder looks to Bryne he seemed somewhat distant and well unlikely very helpful but perhaps he had some sort of knowledge locked away. "Have you ever heard of someone called Aristogeiton?"

Bryne...I wonder if he once went by another name. So many forgotten...so many to remeet and remember with or just make acquaintances with.

chaeval
Byrne frowned a bit, as if puzzled. He didn't think his room would help...he had just wanted to show it off to the new people. Looking down at the stuffed animal he sneezed again as his draggled headfeather tickled his nose. Aristogeiton?

His nose twitched very slightly as he blew the feathers up and away. "Aristo- Ari...Aristogeiton?" he finally mangled the pronunciation enough to get it through his lips. "I don't think so. Does he collect ponies?"

Eftemie

Meroe glanced over at the woman and then back to the god in the pile of ponies. "I do not know him. Even if he's dead. I'm looking for my lady Lisana. I've news to give her, but I've not gotten very far."

He distractedly watched the feathers moved. This was an interesting god. Far more childlike than any he'd seen. Then he suddenly scratched his head. Had he seen others? He truly was unsure. How would he know if he did?

Cinderfae
Cinder sighed she had a feeling she had hit some sort of brick wall again, and doing so over and over again was becoming somewhat painful. "No he does not collect ponies, he loved Harmodius once." Cinder paused and frowned somewhat tiredly looking to the others gathered. Looking for ponies seemed to be the least of the worries after what she had seen at the space port.

"Listen something happened, some sort of shockwave - as I said earlier. People are hurt...and I believe it has to do with Harmodius being Destruction right now. Aristogeiton might be able to help stop that...somehow. Cinder frowned faintly at her own wording, gods and cycles creation was destruction and it seemed destruction was going to go into overdrive. She had to find Illumin.

She highly suspected those here were going to continue talking about ponies, she sighed deeply. The child god seemed scattered he may be able to aid but she didn't even know what aid she would need.

chaeval
He looked rather startled and unhappy that Destruction was still here. "I can go look for him?" he offered tentatively " I know some good hiding places, maybe he's there?" He fingered the faux main absently, tours of his large empty room now forgotten. "Maybe he's hiding under the couch? Or up on a shelf?"

Amaros shook his great floppy hat. "This seems rather dire indeed. I admit to being entirely confounded. You say there is an incarnation of destruction below that needs some companionship? It seems a rather rude companion to leave without word."

Eftemie

Meroe glanced upwards, his voice softer than normal as he agreed with Cinder. "Many died and were injured and others seem to not understand and run around as if the sky is falling. I don't think they know that it is. 'Tis what I must tell my Lady Lisana. She should know her own need her."

He started to get to his feet again, but then just sat back down. Perhaps she would come and find him as he was feeling very unlike himself. He did not want to move.

Cinderfae
Cinder looked over at their reactions at least they seemed to have some idea of the seriousness of it all. Even the childlike god was unsure of Destruction's reign and what it may bring. Cinder quirked a brow slightly at the responses the strangeness just seemed to be growing and it was rather disconcerting. "I don't think his companion had a choice, and now he is in pieces and needs to be put back together...so you can't just find him." Cinder almost dreaded what sort of response she would get to that.

"Anyways I need to find some others that are looking for the pieces as well." Cinder frowned faintly and sighed. "If you see Illumin, well he needs to know that I am looking for him." She didn't have the faintest clue how to put someone back together that had somehow been taken apart...or what even the pieces would be like.

chaeval
"Okay." Byrne nodded. "Ill ask the pony too. She likes to help."

Eftemie

The ghost nodded faintly to Cinder, nearly losing his head again. Sighing he shoved it back where it belonged as he continued to watch the god and the ponies. He would find her later. Right now it was far more interesting to watch this child god and his 'toys'. Briefly he wondered how long Byrne had been looking for this 'magical pony' to have collected all those toys before him.

At the mention of the name 'Illumin', Meroe turned to the woman. "I will ask Lady Lisana when I see her and relate the news that you are looking for information. Cinder it was, no?" He asked again just to be certain that he had the name correct.

Cinderfae
"Cinder, host to Karaskis Goddess of Fire." Cinder spoke the name with a slight frown and started to stand, it would have been easier to sit and watch Bryne, the ponies, the old man, and possibly what she thought was likely some sort of undead. But easy things often didn't get anything done...and she knew something had to be done. Too many wounded and dead, it would have been a horrible repentance to host a Goddess and then lay back instead of doing anything when the world seemed to be going downhill.

"I'd offer to help find your pony but I really should be going. I need to keep looking...I'm afraid if I stay siting too long I won't get back up." She wondered if the others knew what she meant, rolling her shoulders with a slight wince she headed back out perhaps someone out there would have more of the answers that she needed.

And we will be left wondering if the search for the magical pony has any merit.

chaeval
Byrne was quiet for a long time, toying first with the stuffed pony, and then with his wingfeathers. He seemed for the moment rather subdued and pensive. It was an odd thing for him. Although his thoughts fell to depths shallow, they were deeper for him than usual. A short attention span made for quick breaths in the short end of the pool.

"The quest, My Lord." the elder man prompted gently. "We've need of your magical equine."

Byrne did not correct him this time, looking up. "Is she real?"

He was staggered. Now seemed not the point to ponder such. "You had convinced me of such. Do you doubt it now?"

"Not really." he said finally. "I don't know why she won't come though. She plays games alot, but this one isn't really fun."

Eftemie
Meroe listened quietly to the two before him. "Perhaps she needs something to interest her and bring her forth. You said she liked apples and wine? I suppose we should find some of those things."

He thought for a moment, getting to his feet and moving closer to look at the stuffed toys. He reached down to try to pick one up only to have his hand go through it. "I suppose one of you will have to get such things to use."

chaeval
"Where are we going to find apples here?" Amaros quivered slightly. "For truth, I have no idea." he took his hat off, revealing a swaddle of cloth that he took off. It had not been there when he had doffed it for bowing. "I however, can provide the spirits. Although...perhaps not the ambrosia required..."

Eftemie
Meroe blinked for a moment. "The kitchen perhaps." He glanced over Byrne's shoulder at the counter nearby. "This is my first time here, so perhaps there would be some there."

He looked back at the godling. "I can't think he would have any in his room."

chaeval
"No apples there." Byrne agreed slowly. He looked less bright by the moment. "The kitchen? That's the other way from here."

In truth, he preferred showing off his room than rummaging around in the kitchen. But apparently that was not to be. He sighed, feathers drooping even more, until even his tailfeathers swished the floor. "You can follow me."

He started to head off in the direction of stated intent, Amaros following in some concern, bottle of spirits in his hands. His nose quivered his concern.

Eftemie
Meroe watched Byrne a moment. "I suppose I want to see your room next. We might want to see if she will come out there. That way she is where you want her to be."

He nodded, following the god and the man with him. Wondering briefly about the toys, he added, "And we might want to put all these ponies in your room too."

chaeval
"H'm" said Amaros. "I suppose I shall take that task. Once I see where this room is, I can begin to carry them. Although there is quite a lot of them..." his tone trailed off as he stared at the mountain of toys. "Perhaps with a steamshovel...."

Byrne nodded absently.

"How does one make "glazed apples"? asked Amaros. "It does not seem like a normal recipe...at least not one which I am familiar."

"Oh." Byrne replied. "On the full moon, there needs to be a great bonfire built. There with the spices of the ages and the sacred waters of the Euratiss, the high priestess blesses the fruit and makes a sacrifice of the season's best harvest. There she calls on the power of the sun to transmute the sacred water and spices into the glaze that is then used on the apples." He noticed that Amaros had stopped and turned. "Are you okay?"

"My Lord..." he said, nose twitching "the full moon is weeks away..."

Eftemie
Meroe nodded about the toys, but then stopped to listen to the recipe. Perhaps it was something that the goddess Lisana would enjoy. But then he blinked in surprise as the recipe was cited from the god in front of him quite clearly.

"I don't suppose there is a moon god that could just create a full moon for him." Of course, not. That would be far too simple. "Would a different sort of lamp work? Maybe a blue colored light or something..."

chaeval
Byrne was nonplussed. It had not penetrated that this recipe was in anything other than an ordinary one. But the dismay in Amaros' eyes made it apparent this was not so simple. With a despaired huff, he hunched his shoulders and sat down. "this won't work, huh?"

"Well." Amaros said, upset at how downcast the godling looked. "It is a bit difficult...a script can be cobbled, edited, and even extemporized...but your recipe does seem a bit...exact."

Eftemie
"Are there any other recipes for 'glazed apples' that might coax her out?" Meroe asked, sitting down beside Byrne as he watched he and Amaros. "Perhaps she would like another type just as well."
