Vivian raised an eyebrow at the man. What exactly did he do with his things? Did he give them to little children as playthings or something? "You call that a few? It's as if you came here unprepared. I can give you half of what you ask for. I'm sorry to say I break a lot of my glassware, so I can't really give you much."

Vivian knew she was old, but when Silveril mentioned she was older than his grandmother, it disturbed her. It made it worse since his grandmother was a vampire making Vivian feel like a super old hag. Well, in truth, Vivian was a super old hag, but she wasn't very pleased about having it addressed out loud in such a fashion. She decided to ignore Silveril's comment.

Vivian set the boxes of potions for Silveril on a lab table. She paused and then she flicked her finger at the men as an indication to have the men follow her. "You don't expect me to get all that stuff myself, do you? It's impossible for me."

Gray was very, very not happy. He grabbed Silveril, a little desperately, head and shoulders drooping. "You...ruined my sash," he groaned. "This was silk. Silk! Do you know how much it cost?" Well, technically Gray didn't either since he hadn't paid for it. But he was sure the person conned out of it, had paid a lot. It was very high quality silk. "This...I hope you intend to make reparations." He stood. "This was...the only thing I had left of my mother. She left it to me when she passed away and now it has a hole in it. A hole!" Well, that was a lie considering his mother was alive and well. But they didn't know that.

He released Silveril, and covered his eyes with his arm, head still hanging. "All I wanted was to replace the supplies that were destroyed yesterday. I wanted to make the class look better for my students. I was just trying to be a good teacher."

"Was this revenge for interrupting you? I said I was sorry! And on top of everything, I have to find replacement supplies by myself."

Somehow, watching this man's display was rather amusing, if one were to put aside the fact that this man was fairly upset.

Silveril wasn't quite sure how to react to this since he has never offended a person in his life other than offending them with silence, but most people dealt with that by simply walking away.

However this was clearly Silveril's fault since he had been careless about the cigarette in his hand. So he had to repay the man somehow. However, Silveril was just a teacher and he was fairly poor. He didn't want to have to go back to his family just to ask for money. This was a very troublesome situation.

"Well, there isn't much I can do but offer my apologies." Silveril said bluntly. When in doubt, he just needed to be honest.

Vivian could smell a lie a mile away. It was just years of dealing with people. Vivian had been lied to countless times in her life and now she was able to tell if a person was lying.

This man clearly over-dramatized his situation. A normal reaction would be an angered reaction and poor Silveril should have been punched down to the ground. That's what a man's supposed to do when someone ruined something he treasured.

It also brought up suspicions in Vivian. She had almost given away many of her supplies. Perhaps it was because Silveril was distracting her that made her unable to think properly. Vivian crossed her arms.
"I've been here for some time and I'm sure I'd remember someone as flashy as you. So I'm assuming you're a fairly new teacher, aren't you? So I have to ask what happened to your budget for your class? Don't tell me you used it all."

Vivian's eyes flashed up at the man as she waited for his answer.

"Apologies?" Gray couldn't help but look at Silveril incredulously. Who thought apologies were the appropriate response to destroying a family heirloom--even if it really wasn't one? Well, for him anyway. "I ask you, can one wear apologies?" he asked. "Your apologies will they keep me warm and remind me of my dear, deceased mother on a daily basis? No, I thought not." He had the decidedly desolate feeling that he would not be getting any money from this man. How truly devastating.

He deflated even more when the midget...er...potions teacher, asked about his budget. What the heck was wrong with these people? "Pfft. I said I only wanted to borrow them," he said, waving a hand dismissively. "Unlike your paltry glassware, mine have to be special ordered so they can withstand the rigors of alchemic compositions and formulas. While I fear I must admit they can't always stand up to the complex chemical components I use, they would be more than adequate to withstand any atrocities my students concoct. But, of course, I could never get everything I need in time for class in a few days. Do you know how hard it is to find good quality saltpeter?"

He sighed. "This is what happens when one tries to focus on helping the brilliant minds of our bright, young pupils, explore new horizons. You have your clothes ruined, and your motives questioned. Does no one in this school understand the value of trust? Or high quality silk!?"

Well it was only normal that he would give such a response. Silveril turned to Vivian. The little girl seemed weary of the man and her eyes seemed to glitter with distrust.

Silveril wasn't the best judge when it came to character. He only liked to observe other people and learn about their culture. He could care less about feelings or petty squabbles.

However, Silveril knew that Vivian was not an idiot. Even if this man was someone shady, he wouldn't outright admit it. However, Vivian could be wrong...

At any rate, Silveril just needed to eat. He was getting hungry and he wasn't able to think properly at the moment, which is the main reason there was a hole in the man's silk because Silveril forgot he was holding a cigarette.
"Excuse me, I need to take a drink before I attack either of you two." Silveril sighed as he went to the potions that Vivian had made for him. Taking a box, Silveril looked at it with distaste. It looked like a kiddie juice box. Silveril tugged on the straw and stuck it into the box and began to sip away.

Vivian wasn't satisfied. Even though his reasons were fairly justifiable, she didn't like the hint of lie from him. And he was the type that had scammed her many times in the past. Vivian lost her favorite broom to a person similar to him some decades ago and Vivian won't be forgetting that any time soon.

Not to mention he just degraded potions to alchemy. Vivian's eyes flashed as she went to a cupboard. Silveril was sipping away like the child he is on his potion box. Vivian pulled out some potions she kept in her storage and she walked in front of the man who was probably a professor about alchemy or something of the sort.

"This is the type of glass I buy. It's not your average glass, it has to be jinxed so it's not cheap if I'll correct you. Inside this is a potion that explodes when coming in contact with air after a set amount of time." Vivian explained as she swirled her potion around in the flask. She didn't mention that she just bought cheap glass and jinxed it herself. "I don't know much about alchemy, but potions can deal with all kinds of complications. Such as growth potions. We can't have our glassware growing in the process of making it, can we? Or potions that change objects into a different appearance. We can't have those shifting on us either. All our glassware is magical which makes everything rather pricey. Whether magical supplies will be compatible with alchemy or not, I wouldn't know. But I don't think I want you calling my supplies paltry. I can make a fortune selling everything I have in this classroom."

Vivian whipped out a bunch of other potions she had stored in the drawers and started mixing potions together. When pouring the explosive potion, she was careful to do it quick and cork the flask back in. The air left inside the flask created violent explosions inside with some of the liquid until there were no air left. Vivian's hands shook violently from it, but when it ended, she set the flask aside. She held out the potion to the man.
"This will fix the hole in your silk. The side effects is that any part of that silk that is soaked with this will become unbreakable, and any contact with fire will make your silk shrink."

"Oh, I see, I see," Gray said, leaning down to examine the wares she displayed as proof of the quality of her supplies. He stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Well, that's fabulous then! It looks like I'll be able to use your supplies until my order comes in, after all." He gave Vivian a charming smile. "Thank you dearly for the reassurance. If you can't spare the amount I requested, about half that should suffice until I can get my own supplies. How wonderful that your supplies are up to par after all. I see this as the start of a wonderful, wonderful friendship."

He took the proffered potion flask with a gallant bow. "Thank you, my dear lady. I'm sure the spirit of my mother will rest well, knowing her beloved sash is once again whole."

Huh. He could probably sell this potion for more than what the scarf was worth--though it might be nice to keep it on hand as well. In case of future accidents.

"Well then, if it's alright with you, I shall just take the requested supplies and be on my way. I wouldn't want to impose on your..." He glanced at Silveril and continued, "meal...any longer than absolutely necessary?"

Silveril had just finished eating--drinking--and was feeling less cranky. He tossed the kiddy box into the trashcan. Knowing Vivian, she was probably going to ask for payment. This brat didn't work for free. Which reminded Silveril that she hadn't asked for her payment for the potions. He had a feeling of foreboding since the little girl probably had something terrible in store for him. If it wasn't money... it was probably manual labor that the girl was too lazy to do.

Well, it's not like Silveril minded manual labor since he was blessed with vampire strength and speed.

"You'd best be careful. The witch doesn't work for free." Silveril warned the man.

Maybe this once Vivian will work for free. Vivian had been wanting to get rid of some dysfunctional glassware and her storage was getting too full to hold all of them. It was just taking up too much space and that space could be used for glassware that were not dysfunctional. She had planned to give the man the glassware, which was the reason she had so easily agreed to giving him half of her supplies. As long as he didn't try to mix potions in them, their jinxes shouldn't trigger.

A few of the glassware would turn into black blobs that ate up everything in sight unless acid was poured on them to make them melt. Clean up was a pain afterwards. There were a lot that would simply start singing when coming in contact with potions and they were tone deaf so it was annoying. They stopped singing after twelve hours. There were a couple more odd glassware such as one that floated and stayed firmly in that floating spot and it couldn't be taken down until the next day and much, much more random effects. It was too troublesome to undo the jinx since it was such a long process. It would really save Vivian if she could just give them away.

"Silveril is a regular customer for my potions. When it comes to potions, I sell them as a side job at the school. If you need potions, next time you'll have to pay. The one I gave you is my treat." Or rather it was Vivan's payment for letting him take away the glassware for her. "When it comes to sharing glassware, I am generous since I understand the feeling of breaking them all the time."

Vivian tugged on Silveril's sleeve. "Come on, help me gather them. We can't have this man waiting." Vivian turned to the man. "What was your name again? I don't think I heard you if you had introduced yourself previously."

"How delightfully contradictory!" Gray said, intrigued by the fact that in spite of Silveril's warning, Vivian quite altruistically gave him the supplies he asked for, as well as a free potion. Well, he couldn't deny that it made him suspicious. After all, being a swindler himself, he was always on guard of being swindled. Still, if her wares were as high quality as all that, he'd just sell them off and buy cheaper ones. He'd still turn a profit, which was always nice. And, well, even if they weren't that high quality, he could still sell them off.

"It would seem our lovely potions master is quite the unpredictable lady, isn't she." He frowned slightly. Had he really missed the opportunity to state his name? Well that was just depressing. Because he'd taken a lot of time to come up with it, so it was best to show it off whenever he had the chance. It sounded rather fancy, if he did say so himself. "My kind lady, I am Peregrine Elliott Gray Wellington IV, at your service. Always."

"And I don't believe I caught your names either. How remiss of me to skip out on introductions."

Silveril sensed something was wrong. Vivian was usually particular about a fair trade. This man had a long name that Silveril couldn't quite remember. All he caught was 'Gray' since it was the simplest part of his name so that was what Silveril internally called him.

Anyways, his name aside, Vivian had just given him a free potion and she's also giving him supplies. She was being too nice to be normal. She was the type to use people as she pleased. Gray seemed pleased about the situation. Silveril would urge him to decline he offer, but he would just think Silveril was being overly paranoid.

"I am Silveril Volce. The physics professor." Silveril answered and he left to go to the storage area of the potions classroom to wait for Vivian to tell him what she wanted him to get since he was tired of thinking about Vivian's suspicious nature. Let the man suffer the consequences for trusting her.

Vivian smiled brightly at Gray. How wonderful. He was really going to take those glassware. Hopefully he doesn't try a hand at potions with those or he might realize that the glassware were utterly useless. The only people who would buy those were probably naughty witches that wanted to play a prank on someone. "My name is Vivian Sinclair. I'm sure you're already aware that I'm the potions professor. Now then, just sit tight there, young man, and I will have your supplies here right away. They're officially yours now so there's no need to bring them back since I'm in such a good mood today."

Vivian went over to the storage room and she had Silveril clear an entire shelf. They used a cart filled with four large boxes full of glassware. Vivian had Silveril push the cart out to Gray. "Now then, I'm sure these will be much happier being used for alchemy than sitting around doing nothing here since I like using my favorite set rather than these. They're all in good condition and they've never been used. Now then, good day to you." Vivian explained with a smile, glad to be rid of the glassware.

"Right then. It's a pleasure to meet you once again, Professor Volce," Gray said. "And I do thank you from the bottom on my heart, most generous Madame Potions Master. He took the things Vivian offered. "You have truly saved my life. I shall repay this debt somehow, I am sure."

"Until then," He bowed once more, and took his leave. It occurred to him, as he stepped outside, that he could always just craft more supplies--barring the chemicals--because, after all, the components for glass were readily available outside. Just needed a bit of silica...Keeping that in mind, he probably didn't really need to stop by the potions lab at all.

Ah well, he'd gotten some wares to hock at the nearest curio, which was also fine. Heh.

Vivian turned to Silveril who had been giving her a suspicious look in his eyes though his face seemed to just portray indifference. Vivian's lips tilted upwards to a half smile but it was hardly a half smile since she could hardly remember how.

"Don't give me that look. They work perfectly fine as normal glassware. As long as he doesn't try to make potions in them or sell them, it's fine. Other witches will be able to tell they are dysfunctional and it's not like I said I'd let him have any of my special sets." Vivian remarked waving a careless hand in the air.

Normally Vivian wouldn't bother explain it to Silveril or justify her actions, but she was starting to grow accustomed to his presence and he was such a good listener. Well, he probably doesn't listen half the time, but he made it appear that he did.
"Now then, about my pay..."
