It wasn't that it was bad, per se, but it was certainly a bitter reminder of things. Life at the palace was nice but it was ever present that they could be tossed back into the gutter they came from. She sat down on the grass and stared at the pool and studied her own reflection, spotting the rosy cheeks which were a sign of her frustration. Taking in a deep breath, she steadied herself.
"Most of the time it isn't bad," she agreed. "Sometimes I can't help but feel tiny and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. When status determines whether or not you're disposable like, lets say, a broken glass, it can feel a little... bah. I shouldn't be saying this to you. You're not in the position to care and it just sounds like I am throwing a pity party."

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » "Just cause I'm a prince doesn't mean I can't care." He said immediately. "If mother were ever to fire you, I'd hire you. Even if I wasn't allowed to, I'd take you under my wing. You could stay with me." He looked her straight in the eye as he said this. "Don't make it seem like I don't care." He said softly. Something hit him just then. What was he like in the eyes of the maids? Many of them only classified him as an honourable plaything. Someone they could goof around for a night and then brag about it. He didn't care at all about girls like that. But what about girls like Andromeda. What did she think about him?
He bit his lip, wondering if he should as the question. "Dromeda, what do you think of me as? Like, if you had to describe me in all honesty, what would you say?" He looked into the water and dipped his fingers into the surface. He knew a few fish lived down there, and felt a nibbling on his fingers. He grinned and looked at his tired reflection. He didn't look at good as he normally did. His eyes had a tad bit of dark circles under them, and he didn't have that usual gleam in his eyes, nonetheless he was still quite attractive. He smirked coldly at himself in the water and dipped his hand into his face causing the water distort his features. I'm just a pretty face, isn't that all I really am? He thought to himself, as he grit his teeth.

The golden eyed girl paused. There were the rumors to go off of and, if she were to believe all of them, he would be an uncaring, tender, rich boy, gentle, intelligent, stupid, sweet son-of-a-b***h. Though mostly everything she heard about him pinned him as a lady's man and a player.
She gave him a hard, appraising look. "Nathaniel, I am not entirely sure how to answer that yet. I'll have to get to know the real you better. The only thing I can be sure of is that you like the ladies and I don't think that as an actual thing to judge your entire character by..." Andromeda always did things that way. She made snap decisions about people only to amend them later.
She spread out on the plush grass and took in a deep breath, sighing at the fragrance.

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » He smirked slightly. "All the maids know me as that. Heck, all my friends call me that. The little ladies man. I've got quite a reputation eh?" He chuckled softly while still playing with the water. He looked up at her and asked her, "Would you ever love a man who's done a hefty number of girls?" The question had been bugging him for a while now. Him and his friends in England had been discussing things about the future. Just as a playful joke, they had mentioned how Nathaniel would probably have a hard time finding a little lady to settle with. Of course, at the time he had been pretty piss drunk and had just laughed it off, but it started to get to him.
He then plastered a smile on his face not to worry her, and said carelessly. "What does it matter anyways? Mom might just pick me a bride, and then she's forced to stick with me." He tried letting out a natural laugh, but it was obvious that the laugh was forced.

She pulled her mouth into a thin line at the question. Although she never had given herself to someone, she did not expect any future love she had to be virgin. In fact she hoped for at least some experience. The blind leading the blind wasn't too pleasing to her in that situation. Still, when she thought about it, experience or lack there of didn't seem like an indication of heart. She ran her fingers through the lush grass and turned her face to look up the cloudless blue sky.
"Well, it doesn't matter. A prince has obligations from what I hear. Alliances and what not but, really, I don't see why someone would judge the amount of girls you been with against you. Unless you betrayed them all somehow."
Andromeda grinned and turned over on her side. The brightness of the sun just off of the corner of her eye had caused the rest of the world around her to dim until her eyes adjusted again. "What about me? Do you think that anyone would want a guttersnipe orphan?"

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » Looking up, he grinned and instinctively said, "I would." He bit his lip, realizing what he'd just spit out and chuckled softly. He decided to be truthful and said, "You're a great girl, who wouldn't want you?" He grinned at her and continued looking into the pond. "Not only are you gorgeous, but you're amazing with gardens, you're sweet and you're not easily fooled by vicious men like me." He smirked as he plucked a water lily out again.
This time he gently plucked the petals off, and let them fall down into the water. He grinned at her again and asked, "Who wouldn't want you?"

Andromeda couldn't help but laugh at this. Vicious? Although she did not know the prince well she was sure that he could hardly be called vicious. He was a persistent flirter and a rake when he came to the girls, but she could not fathom him in the way he described himself. She watched him tear apart the water lily and scatter its petals across the water. The fresh scent of the blossom filled her nose, the oils being released on the water.
"There are plenty who wouldn't want me," she told him. "Though, I suppose, all of the things you've said are right. The gardens have been looking much better since I've had my hand on it and having an inner bs detector can be useful... though, really, if I hadn't been warned about your ways, I might have bought into everything."

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » He chuckled. "So now you know not to trust attractive red-headed Princes." He joked with a smirk. He leaned in closer to her playfully and asked, "Seeing as how you might've bought into everything, does that mean with a bit more, I have a chance?" He closer to her than he'd been every other time he'd done this to her. He was just waiting for that red blush to appear on her face, as he smirked and looked into her eyes.
"They're even prettier from close up." Which was true. Her eyes, from further away didn't seem like anything special, but closer up, you could see the specks of hazel in her eyes that gave it its natural sparkle.

She grinned as he leaned in closer. He wasn't bad to look at and it was strangely endearing that he knew he wasn't. His entire life probably consisted of people telling him what a looker he was.
Of course, when he made the comment about her eyes, she assumed that he was commented about the flowers that laid just behind her from his position. She clapped her hands together and sat up.
"Do you really think? I've been playing around with the fertilizer type and watering schedules hoping to get the brighter hues to come forth."

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » He rolled his gray eyes and chuckled. Tilting her chin up with his index finger he said. "No not the flowers. Your eyes." His eyes seemed to scan her face, without even breaking his gaze from her eyes. He kept where he was and grinned. "Don't worry, the flowers are gorgeous too, but they pale in comparison to you."
He was tempted to kiss her right then and there, it was the perfect moment to do so, but he hesitated. He remembered hesitating before with her as well. His eyes went down to her lips and he knew that if he wanted to seize the moment, even at the risk of getting thrown into the pond, it was now or never. He leaned in closer and pressed his lips onto hers, getting ready for some sort of painful impact from her.
[[ OOC: FFFUUU, he's finally made his first proper move. ]]

That bit of charm nearly worked on her. He mentioned the beauty of her eyes and she took in a sharp breath, forgetting about how all of the other girls had fell to charms. When he leaned in for the kiss her eyes slowly began to shut, long lashes brushing against his cheek from their close proximity.
Snap out of it! You're not as special as he is making you out to be! This has to be a joke!
Right when his lips brushed against his, she withdrew a little, but there wasn't the violence he was expecting. Instead she scooted shyly backward, like a wounded doe might in the sight of a mighty hunter.
"You really shouldn't... you hardly know me."
Oh, how badly she wanted to believe that someone like him could develop feelings so quickly for someone like her.

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » One second he felt her lashes against his cheek, and the other second she had moved away. He arched an eyebrow. He was getting closer. She had fallen for his charm the first time. Looking at her made him realize that he didn't want to hurt her. Ever. There was a twisting feeling in his stomach. He couldn't quite place was it was. Butterflies? Just the hurt from rejection? Whatever it was, it wasn't something normal. Normally, if a girl rejected him, he'd bounce right back up and walk over to another girl and get his charm going, what was stopping him from doing that now?
"So I rarely know a girl who I've practically grown up with?" He grinned as he sat back, leaning away from her now. He shook his head a bit, just to fix his hair and then said, "I do apologize for my actions. It was obviously not wanted." He looked into the pond again, and hoped this wouldn't change anything between them.

"Its in your nature," she said simply. "I do not blame you for it."
Her heart was racing and felt as if it had jumped up to her throat. Why did this feel this way? Carefully she examined him, trying to figure out what had caused her to react in such a way. It was as if she had missed out on something right. Something that just clicked. She licked dry lips.
"Besides, I never said it wasn't wanted. You have to understand though. I am... I am not exactly... well versed in the ways of affection. At all. I want things to go slowly at first if I am to get into any sort of romantic entanglement."

N A T H A N I E L ♦ R E I D « The Charming Prince » He watched her and chuckled softly. He arched an eyebrow at her last bit, suggesting that she had liked his actions. Nathaniel was not the type to go slowly. "Well, I must not just be your type at all then." He said carelessly, practically brushing off anything that just happened. He stood up and brushed the dirt off his pants. He held out his hand to her and asked, "Would you like to go horse-back riding with me?"

Andromeda chewed her lip. Well, he was acting as if nothing happened. Perhaps he had just been playing. It didn't matter though. They could be close friends, too, even if she had been secretly hoping for more. When he asked her about horses she brightened considerably. Horses were such beautiful animals but she had never gotten a chance to ride one.
Her own work worn hand reached out to rest in his hand as she pulled herself up. His skin was so soft there! Much softer than any servant's.
"You will have to teach me to ride. I have never done it before, even though I've always wanted to."
The excitement showed clearly on her face and she gave off a very childlike energy. For how mature she could be, she could be just as childish.
