Tsuzuki saw Aella's scrunched face and gave her a reassuring smile, though secretly he thought it was just adorable and had to stop himself from delaying the flight even further by snuggling her. And she called him a plushie!
Truth to tell he was a tad nervous himself. He'd never taken a normal into the air before, and had no clue what to expect via balance shifts and the wing work required. 'We're flying low,' he reminded himself. Though that would probably mean more work for his wings since thermals were all higher up in the sky...
Tsuzuki didn't give himself any more time to think. He raised his wings high on either side of him, making sure Aella's body wouldn't hinder their movement, then with a powerful downward thrust he launched himself up into the sky.

Aella had been planning on trying to keep cool and seem like she wasn't a total wuss about this whole thing, but that pretty much went out the metaphorical window as soon as Tsuzuki's feet left the ground. She made a very undignified eeping sound and flattened herself as much as she could along Tsuzuki's back, paws clenched and locked around his chest.
It wasn't quite as smooth as Tsuzuki made it look, but that could have been because she was the rider and not the flier. It was alright when Tsuzuki was gliding, but he had to flap his wings frequently to keep them up in the sky and that was when they started doing this up and down movement that Aella's body was screaming was unnatural. She tried to calm herself by saying if it wasn't right Tsuzuki would have landed by now, but it wasn't helping her unclench her muscles one little bit!

Tsuzuki screwed up his face in sympathy for his rider. He'd probably have to pry her off when he landed if she stayed stiff like this, but to her credit she wasn't flailing around or choking him. He wished he could ride on a thermal, but those took one up and at the moment up didn't seem like a good idea. Best he could do for now was try to glide as much as he dared.
On one such movement he turned his head back with difficultly to look at the vixen on his back. He'd never say so aloud, but she was adorable clinging to him like that.
"How you doin' up there," he called to her.
