Calder was on the same boat as Barth, having thought distraction would mean they watched TV, played one of Barth's video games, or just talked. He was about to head over to the couch as he felt this was the approved game plan, when he stopped and flushed.
"Wait, WHAT?!" Did he hear that right? Did Riley just - Why would she - HOW did she know and -
Calder turned his head, hitting the side of his head to get whatever slime was in his ear. When he felt it was cleared, he looked back up. "Okay, repeat that?" He should have known that Riley didn't speak and it wasn't a hearing problem. He just didn't think it was possible for Riley of all people to tell him to make out with Barth.

"If that," Barth began, very stiffly, "is what you brought him over here for, I don't - err, I mean, I hardly think that-"
This really was just not a suggestion he was at all comfortable with.
Alright, privately it was something he was comfortable with. But with Riley a few inches away, and Calder like...like he was, no. Absolutely not.

Riley groaned loudly. Ugh. I am going to be stuck to you forever, Calder. We're going to have to go to class together, and take showers together, and go to sleep together..
She paused, and looked at him quite seriously.
You don't snore, do you?

Calder did not want to be stuck to Riley for classes, for showers - as he already knew he, water, and Riley did not mix well, and then sleeping together. He didn't want to sleep with her. He wanted to sleep with Barth. BARTH!
Whining, he turned back to Barth, very serious. "Kiss me." As weird and awkward as it would be to have Riley RIGHT THERE, it would be even worse if he had to shower and sleep with her.

Barth spared a glare for Riley, then walked forward, and with a very deep breath, gave Calder a chaste, shy, awkward peck on the lips before straightening again.
"...Any luck," he asked.

Oh for crying out loud-
Riley took a deep breath, looked at the two boils, and her brow furrowed. She wanted to work on her relationship with Calder. But she did not want to do it under such close circumstances as being stuck together. So, unfortunately, in order to take one step ahead..
It looked like she was going to have to take two steps back.
Riley grabbed Barth by the neck, gave him a look that said Tell anyone and I'll kill you, and pulled his face up to meet with hers.
While, to them, it might seem like much - the lack of mouth made this a rather one sided affair - from Calder's perspective, as he couldn't see their faces, this would probably be distracting enough to work.
Hopefully.
Maybe.
Oh Jack, she hoped it worked.

Calder's ears dropped a fraction at the peck, and while it was still sweet, and he knew it was rather awkward, he'd been hoping for something a big more....like a kiss. Maybe something to make Riley jealous that she didn't have a mouth. When Barth asked if it worked, Calder only glanced down, trying not to put too much in the very small, very tiny, very odd kiss, and tested their hands. Nothing. It wasn't like he had been distracted much after all.
What happened next was completely out of left field, and Calder wasn't even sure what Riley was doing at first by grabbing Barth. It wasn't until his face pressed on her's, that his ears went up. The lack of mouth confused his brain for a fraction as to what she was doing, and without it, it almost seemed like Barth was kissing her instead, but reality kicked him like a bad-tempered mule.
There was just a flicker of a second of thought. The previous discussion they had had about being together, and an acknowledgement that they both came from families that held the traditions of harems. That one person could have more lover, but while Calder acknowledged that, the part that screamed was that out of everyone in the world. RILEY WAS NOT AN OPTION!
Calder did not want to share.
"GET OFF HIM!" His hands flung between them, throwing them apart with all his strength as he went between them. The moment there was even a fraction of space, he was there, a kissing block as he took his other hand to grab Barth's body and hold it close, glaring over his shoulder at Riley. His heart was racing as a wave of insecurity took hold. The fighting thoughts that wondered if Barth liked it. If he liked ghouls more. If he liked Riley more - what with all her (what Christof might point out as) parts. Anyone interloping on his man was a treat to his chances.
"You already HAVE a boilfriend! Kiss him instead, you tangled-tailed mule!** Barth's mine. " He turned to hold onto his boilfriend. "He's mine." He whispered.
He hoped he was.
**Calder is calling Riley loose/easy/a whore.

Riley was the only one whose senses were probably still clear when they kissed, and she felt Calder's hand slide away from hers. She pulled away from Barth, giving him a brief second of I told you so look, before she was shoved forcefully away from him -
And directly into the fountain.
She slammed down a** first into the slime fountain with a muted splash, leaving her half coated in the goo.
She slumped in disgust, before assessing the situation, and finally muttering -
Worth it.

It was not really a kiss, and it wasn't like they hadn't done it before. Whatever it was. Having his mouth pushed to the strange, smooth surface of Riley's jaw was not warm, or inviting, or intrusive. It was mostly rubbery.
But it was the thought that counted.
And it was not a thought Barth cared for.
The intent- separation from Calder, was fair enough, but the way her claws wrapped around his neck was too controlling for his tastes, and left him feeling vunerable. Afraid. Weak. As her hand closed and seized, something of his began to curl up her ankles, black, sharp, aiming throat-ward to return the favor.
His lips twisted into a snarl against her skin.
The vines twisted hard into her calves, and climbed higher.
When Calder ripped them apart, Barth didn't even look at him, so furiously focused on Riley that the GET OFF HIM was a distant, untranslatable sound. But the grab and the pull was enough for the thorns to dry up, and for Riley to drop into the fountain. Riley's lap and chest were slathered with slime, and the fountain bubbled in a friendly fashion. Right now, both sets of claws were tense, and he wanted nothing better than to-
Calder's whisper got through the anger, perhaps because he had to listen to hear it. Something in the tremble, maybe, or the way he was clinging to Barth with both hands.
Barth calmed himself, "It's alright," he said, very cooly. "It wasn't a real kiss. Expediency, as always," he said, starting forward with an icy smile, "No harm done. And- and err- ................calder are you stuck."

Riley was just climbing out of the fountain when she heard that chilling voice, and her expression was muted, but suggestive. Yes, always. Now, if you don't mind, I am going to go celebrate my freedom with a shower.
She wiped some slime off her arm.
Or ten.
Her eyes drifted slightly over to Calder, who looked genuinely upset. I'm, ah, sorry about that. Just the way I handle problems. I'll .. I'll remember what I promised you earlier, all right then?
Hearing that they might possibly be stuck, Riley decided that this was a perfect time to get the hell out of there before Calder touched her. Lovely. Enjoy your.. yes. Good day, gentlemen.

Calder was still holding onto Barth when Riley fell back, and he could offer her no sympathy when she fell into the slime after what she had done. What he didn't understand was why Barth brushed it off so easily. "Expe - Whatever! I don't care if it was whatever it was, people just don't go around kissing other people at random like that." It was rude, insulting, and a number of other things that Calder's frustrated and angry mind couldn't even sputter out. Instead, he just continued to grip Barth tighter as if Riley was ready to pounce on him again and drag him off to some private corner.
However, he was surprised that she was apologizing, but he had a hard time just brushing her actions off. "Next time, HANDLE your problems another way." He'd have to take a while to digest and accept her apology. For now, he was guarding his boilfriend.
And at the question, he tested his grip and Calder was indeed stuck to Barth's clothes. "It seems so. ......" But at least he didn't mind being stuck to Barth.

"Not a real kiss," Barth muttered again, not sure who he was trying to convince and looking down at Calder's fists to inspect the damage. "...Just the shirt, I think, I'll - err," he looked at Riley again.
"Good day," he said pointedly.

Calder was spouting angry nonsense, and Riley was ready to not hear it.
She gave the two a little wave, and walked out the door, sliding (quite literally) back into her own room, where she would go wash herself until she felt clean again.
This may take a while.

Calder waited until Riley left, wondering if what they talked about would ever work out. It seemed they both worked to only anger the other.
The moment the door clicked shut, Calder turned his head back around and in a moment was kissing his boilfriend. It wasn't a peck either.

The shyness from earlier dissipated, and with his shirt still clutched in Calder's fists he kissed back. He hated being so angry. He hated being so...needy. There was nothing wrong with either of those things. But they weren't his territories. "Sorry," he said around the kisses, not even sure what he was apologizing for, and feeling emotionally raw, "Sorry, I hate her,"
But not you, he thought, and when they finally pulled apart, he didn't even take time to recollect himself. Some of her last words weighed on him too heavily. No marks, it wouldn't have to do with that, and he tried not to think of Riley smiling and pulling Calder's shirt open demonstratively.
"What promise?" Barth asked.
