The leading contenders had narrowed down a select few now... Bronze Onoth and his sleeker rival Shoth, Bronze Vulith and Hedereth, and Keilmanth and the determined Sermianth. Seven males to choose from... the rest were further back, options still, but less prominent as Feynath swept around and bore down on them, banking at the last moment to tease them with her closeness.

Crooning once more, she swung her head to Vulith, passed close to Hedereth and Sermianth... even grazed her tail along the side of Shoth but if any tried to grab her, the queen writhed and thrashed in the air, a snarling, furious answer. It was obvious she would make the choice, not the males.

On the ground, watching the tiny dots that were the dragons, Eirlyn swayed a little, unconciously gravitating towards one man or the other, in the sway of her golden one's appraisal. Distracted gaze played over those riders of the foremost pack, sizing them, mentally undressing them... she wanted one as bad as Feynath wanted hers. But which...?

She looked over Vulith's rider, taking stock of him and knew that her gaze implied favor as she shifted it to Hedereth's rider and looked him over as well. Him? Or perhaps... Keilmanth's rider? One another's hearts were known even across such distances and more a moment or two it seemed the Queen had narrowed her choices as she flirted most with the three bronzes associated with the riders Hers had looked over.

Ah, but what of the others? Bronzeriders were notoriously cocky... Malvren was no different. A brown ready, steady and trustworthy, might bear the mantle of leadership better... besides there some fine looking men among the brownriders...

Shoth's rider quirked a grin as he caught Eirlyn's gaze, his eyes a little clearer then the rest as he stood to the side with an easy grace. Opposite him, ever opposite, was Onoth's rider staring at her with open lust, that slackjawed awe that seemed to permeate every man near her. Closing her eyes, she turned back to the sky and tilted her head back, Pick the best, my Heart. It would be Feynath's decision, in the end.

Flarneth watched as the top contenders got the appraisal from Feynath. Well even if he didn't get the Queen there were always some green ready to ease the lust he and His felt. It was close to time for him to put that pent up energy to use, Shards only if would put him closer to the others up ahead, instead of with this group. He turned his head and snapped at brown tail that got to close to him. He was not going down because another brown didn't know when to quit.

K'lat turned his grey eyes towards the group of men around Eirlyn. Lust was in his eyes, along with the rest of him, but he knew as well that this wasn't to be his time with her. It was going to be close and he looked over the men closest to her, which one would be the Weyrleader? Which of them would hold the Weyr together the best? Shards, he prayed that Feynath could maneuver for the right male up there.

A touch of jealousy snaked through Nachith as he saw the Queen flirt with the dragons out front; he knew by now that he would not win, but to be close, even to be touched...oh, if only! He swept his wings, trying to drive himself closer one more time. If nothing else, he wanted to be noticed! To be considered, if even only for a moment.

Shard it all GO! Faster! Z'fer urged Calanoth on as Eirlyn eyed the other men around her. Not him. Shells and Shards he couldn't lose!
Calanoth surged forward, squandering his strength in an attempt to ensnare Feynath as she passed by. He had no chance she had twisted away with surprising agility before he could even get close. He couldn't let His down though! They both wanted this. He could feel the strain in his wing's the rawness in his lungs from the thin cold air. He was spent and he knew it. He wouldn't catch her but he couldn't lose face by giving up. He'd fly till she was caught at his Rider's urging, still holding on to the chance she may tangle with him.
Z'fer growled under his breath but kept his fists clenched at his sides. He would NOT admit defeat till Eirlyn was bedded by her new mate.

Vulith let her weave and tease him and the other bronzes, if she was close enough, he wold grab for her but for now, let her waste her energy teasing those others, Vulith would get his time. When Feynath crooned and swung her head towards him Vulith felt the tiredness leave his limbs, he was filled with a new sense of invigoration at this sign of interest in the chase, he didn't like the way her tail grazed Shoth though, but since the other male was too slow to react, Vulith wasn't angered or disappointed.

K'tor felt a tightening of his chest and his heart beat faster when Eirlyn passed her eye over him, and he stopped swaying with the movements of his dragon and looked right at her, had Feynath chosen?..... no... her gaze moved on, it seemed there was more than one man the weyrwoman favored today. He could wait, he had waited for his chance this long, a while longer would be no matter.

Tease was a bit of an understatement. Hedereth let out a pleased rumble deep within his chest as Feynath passed so close, tempting them yet letting none catch her. Not yet, anyway. He would wait for her choice, would hope that she might chose him. He was very tempted to try performing a mid-air roll, but with the others so close he didn't dare risk losing his place nearby. Instead he waited, hoping the virtue of his patience might instead win some favor in the queen's eyes. He was here, and he was ready and willing.

On the ground T'may half watched as Eirlyn began assessing them, heart thumping just a bit faster as her gaze passed over him. Whom would they chose, in the end? The victor here would be winning far more than just the Flight; they would be given the honor of helping lead and protect their Weyr. He wanted that place, to aid their grieving leader in this time of trouble, but in the end the choice would be hers. Whatever was best for Malvren.

F'nell had edged to the outside of the crowd, knowing that Krith was unlikely to catch the queen. He wasn't going to leave, no, but there was no reason for him not to get out of the way of the bronze riders that were the most likely to win.

Perhaps the rider was effecting the dragon, and Krith calmed, flying steadily but not attempting to rush. There was no reason to waste all of his energy catching up, if he was going to, he would need all of his endurance.

M'ale was doing his best to split his attention on his dragon and the weyrwoman. He took a confident stance when she started eyeing them up, no bronze rider was going to cow him. A winning grin was flashed to Eirlyn even though she didn't spare much time for him. He still wanted her. C'mon Sermianth. You can do this.

The brown was feeling the burn of muscles now, yet he wasn't ready to give up. He rumbled to the flirtatious gold. Sermianth put on a bit of extra effort as the gold came close. Daringly he reached out his muzzle to stroke her flank. Not to capture, just to touch. He would woo her away from the bronzes if he had to.

Shard it, what was Jacith doing? He was slowing down! He wasn't in the lead! Those bronzes had over powered him at last. D'nan was tempted to tell his brown to go after one of those greens instead--his mind was overcome with lust; it didn't matter who Jacith flew, as long as it was someone. "Faster, Jacith!" he muttered aloud. "Faster!"

Jacith obeyed. Eyes whirling a deep purple, he pushed himself further. His wanted this. He would win, and his would be happy--the Weyr would be safe.

When Sermianth tried to nose her flank, the gold rumbled and flicked her tail, a smarting slap across the brown's muzzle. It wasn't so much of a rejection as it was a 'not yet' smack.

Ah, but the browns weren't done yet, it seemed! Several pushed their way into the throng and the group of males expanded yet again, circling endlessly in swirling, gentle patterns less in chase and more in courtship. The bunching up of choices, however, seemed to upset Feynath for she tucked a wing and rolled away, though not nearly as swiftly as before.

Curling back in a giant arc, she lead them in a circle, forcing the group to stratify again and swept through the leading males and past the ones in behind in an unexpected maneouver that had them twisting to realign themselves.

Eirlyn laughed softly, shaking her head, coy and clever was her dragon. It had been many years since she'd had an open flight where she seriously considered someone besides Firieth. Choose, beloved, they tire... her urging was gentle and wanting at the same time.

Feynath arced through the males once more, letting those who wished touch her for the brief seconds of her passing, and flared her wings, beckoning them with a series of bugles. Only the best.

Keilmanth was elated that the Gold one was allowing them to get closer. She still teased them, but the bronze was too excited and filled with flightlust to be angry or feel anything against not being able to snatch the Queen. If anything, he felt giddy with how fantastic of a chase she was providing them with. He stretched his wings and finally worked the aching muscles to their max. And when Feynath grew closer to croon at them, he crooned cheerfully right back. But he was not so ambitious as to try and grab her yet. It was obvious she was not ready. But when she was, he hoped he was worthy enough for consideration!

Like his dragon, Az'rin did not make to muscle his way to the front of the other men nor did he try to make any grabs for Eirlyn. He caught the look of consideration that came his way, flashing the Weyrwoman a smile.

A surprised bugle escaped as Feynath rolled away and he was forced with the others to twist and change direction. Too many of them clustered like so and the bronze found himself bumping into other bronzes and a brown or two. He hissed at a couple and worked to get enough wing room to try and regain lost ground yet again. Keilmanth knew he was tiring as well, but wasn't anywhere near ready to give up. Something that was only encouraged further when Feynath arced through them, allowing them to touch her. The bronze didn't waste the chance and let his snout rub along that golden hide affectionately.

Flarneth pushed away from the group he was with, now he was going towards the smaller group...Towards the conquest. He was going to make it, but she turned and he could just barely touch her as she went past. It was all he could do. He turned and rolled to follow behind her. His purple gaze lost to only her at the moment. The mostly brown dragon flapped his striped wings after Feynath and the other bronzes and browns that were with her.

Vulith snarled a challenge as the browns closed in once more, they may be strong but only Bronzes were going to be serious contenders and HE was the bronze that would win her. When she curled and swept through the leaders Vulith creeled as he was forced to give ground to avoid collision and to turn to follow her.

His wings ached and his lungs felt like they were burning but he would not give up until she was caught, preferably in his talons. When she passed by closely again he reached for her, claws lightly grazing her hide in a loving caress, sure she would want him, he was gentle but strong, and she should pick him.

K'tor was watching the dots in the sky that were the dragons but when he caught Eirlyn's soft laugh he brought his face down, that must be the first time he'd heard her laugh in a while, at least a genuine one anyway. He moved to get closer, almost pressing against her but keeping a respectful distance, despite his increasing need.

Oh ho ho, clever beauty she was. Hedereth followed with a roll if his own-- namely to get away from the bunching up of the other males as they all abruptly changed directions in pursuit of their queen. The bronze was beginning to tire from the long and hard chase, but with being so close to the prize how could he possibly give up? When the gold passed by again he briefly stroked her with his cheek before watching her continue on, and her bugles were answered with one of his own. Yes, he would come. He would always come.
