Leila "I think...I think I'll stay her for a bit," Leila said, looking around at the myriad plants in the clearing.

James Ortiz James nodded and stepped away from the tree. "Well, if you aren't done in less than 10 minutes, then I'll be inside playing a game or something... If you are then I'll still be looking through all my plants." He smiled and gently pat his leg while he walked away. Luscious tilted his head and watched for a moment before jumping up and charging after James.

LeilaLeila barely noticed the tiger cub jumping out of her arms. She'd become lost in the memories that the plants in this part of James's garden evoked. There were only six years worth of memories, but to her it was a lifetime. Especially because it was a lifetime ago. A couple tears rolled down her cheeks, but Leila didn't bother to wipe them away since there was no one to see.

James Ortiz James was a little curious as to what Leila was doing inside that clearing of the garden. He quickly shrugged and continued checking the rest of his garden, Luscious bouncing all around him. After what seemed like 10 minutes he and Luscious made their way back to the house. He really wasn't sure what to do now. He didn't want to work just yet, and he wasn't patient enough to read either. Finally he settle on going for a swim. He had an indoor and outdoor pool, though he preferred the outdoor usually. While Luscious already made himself comfortable in a nearby lawn chair James changed into a pair of swim trunks and got a towel as well. Then he began to swim laps. He needed to train for something.

LeilaAfter a little while, Leila's keen ears caught the sound of splashing. Huh. She hadn't seen a pool or lake earlier. Maybe it was on the other side of the house. Taking one last look at the garden, she went to find out where the splashing was coming from.

James Ortiz The pool was pretty close to being in between the gardens and his house, however; it was still spaced a little farther for where a plain was. The willow trees were slightly concealing it with their long, flowing branches. James had done this on purpose so he could tell if anyone was coming from the house. He wasn't really paying attention this time, since he was just training to pass the time. He wasn't expecting any assassins any time soon.
After a few more laps he decided to play with Luscious. With a sly grin he silently swam to the edge of the pool, close to where the cub was. He made a small chirping noise and waited for him to come close to the edge. He snatched the cub and pulled him into a wet embrace. He laughed as he let go of the soaking cub and went to fetch some of his balls and other toys to play in the water. He tossed them in and jumped in after, beginning to play with Luscious.

LeilaReaching the line of willow trees, Leila heard the sound of laughter. She guessed it was James since he was the only one aside from her who had the ability to laugh in the vicinity. At least that she knew of. Even if he had been paying attention, James probably wouldn't have known Leila was there. That was part of why her collar was gray for unpredictability. Leila could be more silent than cat's paws. Seeing James playing with the tiger cub, Leila leaned against a willow tree and watched, keeping an eye out for any movements that didn't belong. She didn't need James to tell her to do this. It was something she'd been trained to do anyway.

James Ortiz James chuckled as he swam back to the edge. He pulled himself up over the edge to sit down and turned around to watch the small cub. He kept his feet in the water to let Luscious attack him if he so pleased. He stifled a yawn as he stretched his arms above his head. The swimming had made him a little tired, and playing with the cub had him in his playful moods. It was sad that he didn't have anyone to hug during these times. It always spoiled his mood. With a sigh he looked over to Leila, knowing she was there. It wasn't her but the willow that had let him know.

LeilaLeila saw James look over at her and cocked an eyebrow. Staying alert, though outwardly relaxed, she walked over to the edge of the pool and crouched beside him. "It's rare than anyone can tell I'm near when I'm like that," she said. "How'd you know I was there?"

James Ortiz James calmly watched Leila as she approached him. When she crouched beside him he began to scratch nervously at the back of his head. He grumbled to himself and shrugged. "Well for one thing, I can smell you. It's so indistinct but I can still catch it. Second, the willows were a big clue. They help me to know if anyone is trying to sneak up on me." He turns his gaze to Luscious who is splashing about and attacking his toys. After a moment he stopped and looked over at James, letting out a shrill cry before swimming over to him.

LeilaLeila cocked an eyebrow. "You can smell me? Strong nose for a normal human," she said. The thing about the willows letting James know of others' presence was also interesting. "But you're not a normal human, are you?" It wasn't so much a question as a statement.

James Ortiz James twitched his nose for amusement and glanced at Leila through the corner of his eye. He reached out to pick up Luscious and pulled him to his chest, petting him softly. He turned to look at her fully and raised a brow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Of course I am not a normal human! I don't ever recall me saying that I was. In fact I'm only half, and the other half is a demon. Specifically a tiger demon." His grin grew wider as he scratched the cub behind the ears. "Luscious, on the other hand, is a full-fledged demon."

LeilaLeila cocked an eyebrow, but that was the extent of her expression change. "Truly? How, I wonder, can he stand being around me?" she said, almost to herself. She looked away from James for a moment and realized the sun had started setting. A small spark of alarm ran through her. "It's getting late. Erm, sir? Do you know what phase the moon will be in tonight?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

James Ortiz James chuckled and shook his head. "Luscious is a broken little cub. He came to me without memories and a human form. There will be a time that he may figure out what had happened to him and he will regain control over his own body, but until then he will always be my little cub." A wave of sorrow hit him and he sighed. He was only happy that he was with him now and not with whoever had him before. "Anyway, he is attracted to the strange and the scarred. The same can go for me." With a curious glance up to the sky he simply shrugged. "I don't know, a full moon maybe... Why? Do you want to go inside now?"

LeilaLeila's eyes went wide at the mention that it might be a full moon that night. She got to her feet, slowly moving away from the pool with her eyes on the horizon. The instant the moon cleared the treetops, she could see that it was indeed a full moon, and she turned and fled to the clearing with the all the plants from her homeland. In the clearing, she stumbled and fell in a heap beneath the branches of an olive tree, and something strange began to happen: she began to change. Leila's short brown hair grew and took on an orangeish tinge; her ears traveled to the top of her head, gained pointed ends, and grew fur, becoming like a fox's; a bushy tail sprang from the base of her spine; and she seemed to shrink a bit as her figure took on a definitely female aspect. Groaning, she lay where she'd fallen, semi-hidden in the shadow of the olive branches.
