It looked like she had gotten this down! Well... yes. She did get it down in a sense he supposed. Seeing how she was now upside down. Jericho couldn't help but stare for a moment or so as she hovered there like that. He at least managed to keep from snickering or laughing. Very carefully, he reached for her legs to try and push them down to right her once more.
"Well," he coughed, trying to not be too distracted, "At least you didn't drop this time!"

Riley carefully gauged her friend's reaction, and decided not to press him on the issue. She merely got back to her attempts, but this time about an inch farther away from Jericho than she was a moment ago. Not for any particular reason. Just because.
She was hovering a moment later, teetering in every direction, but soon enough she found herself bobbing forward in the air. And suddenly, nothing else mattered.
You know what, Jericho. She whispered intensely as she looked at the gap between her feet and the floor below her. I think this could actually happen. I think you might have been right about this, all along.

Shifting slightly, Jericho went on to watch as Riley continued her attempt, grinning once more as she was hovering slowly ahead. It might have been a small step, but it was a huge victory as far as he was concerned. Grinning, he stepped over so that he was next to her, swelling with pride.
"Of course! It'll take some time, but I know you'll be able to pull it off!" he encouraged, "I mean... just earlier you weren't even willing to try and now you're hovering above the ground!"
It was rather clear that he was excited about this.

Well, I just.. I had my reasons. She murmured, and left it at that. Now, is this where you actually fly me up and drop me out of my nest? She seemed pretty clearly expecting that moment, for some reason. Then, as she laughed, she lost her balance and the wings flared with energy at their core. The vibrations of laughter made the middle of the wings burn bright, and in the blink of an eye Riley had veered straight forward, careening without control until she was forcefully stopped.
By a tree.

"It's a little early for that," Jericho chuckled. The laughed was cut off as Riley suddenly zoomed off into a tree. Cringing at that, he rushed on over to see if she was alright.
"I think... that's enough for today. You've made some pretty big leaps here," he said while staring at his friend, "Don't want you to end up bruising yourself too much at once. So uh... Let's ride! And don't worry, I won't drop you from the sky."
Now seemed like a pretty good time to give the mindflayer some sort of reward for her efforts.

Riley was rubbing her face, and her voice sounded wounded, as if it might have been a whimper if she was a lesser ghoul. But it was still quiet. And needy.
Yes please.
She held her arms out, demanding to be picked up after her fall. This flying thing was hard.

Smiling lightly at his friend, he went on and lifted her up gently from the ground.
"You did good today," he said before setting her down carefully onto her feet. Jericho took a few steps back and went on to remove his pin so he could take on his true form. Once the transformation was complete, he moved closer and nudged Riley lightly with his snout before lowering himself so she could climb onto his backside.

As soon as Jericho was in his natural form, Riley wrapped one arm around his neck and pulled herself up with a strong heaving motion. She wrapped her legs around his neck and clamped down, signalling her preparation.
Okay. Show me what I should be looking forward to if I succeed. She murmured quietly, patting her best friend's neck down in affection.

"Of course."
Glancing back and giving a rather draconic grin, Jericho soon faced forward once more, heaving forth as he launched himself into the air. Flight was truly a wondrous thing and he really hoped that one day his best friend could claim the skies just as he could.
If he could help it, he would make sure of it.

Riley flattened herself for balance as they lifted up into the skies, and her eyes glittered with excitement.
Jericho always knew just what to say.
