The cease-fire call left many of the shadow's would-be victims watching and waiting as the senshi took action. What was left of the monster -- its melted bits and trailing, useless tendrils -- seemed to ripple across the stone, as if in dread, while wounds were tended to and magic was prepared. It was struggling, slapping bits of itself weakly against the rubble, the makeshift shield around the "eye" coiling ever tighter.
And yet, parts of it were cooling as the fires died down.
Hephaistos' second Liquid Steel attack cleaved through the most of the fist of tendrils surrounding its weak point. The shadow was still hissing in pain even as Chronos's Tiara Magic arrived right on the heels of the molten metal. It struck the target beautifully, transforming the hissing into a full-on earsplitting shrieking... however, it only distended, and did not break or burst. For a moment the space around the crowd was a wild mass of writhing black as the monster's entire form flailed around it -- and then it withdrew into itself, becoming something of a pitch black squid with long whiplike tentacles. Senshi and human alike would only get a glimpse of it until it scurried out of sight. Not dead, but gone.
The temple door would prove unharmed. It had been successfully defended, but it wasn't safe.
Any searching for the creature would prove futile. It had vanished completely, presumably into some other shadow somewhere, with ample opportunity waiting for it to strike again. And when it did, there was a chance its future victims wouldn't be quite so lucky.

By the time Themis was back on his feet, the creature was gone.
Gone, but from the looks of it, not dead. He didn't like this, but... He was thinking as to what to do. He was the strongest senshi after Chronos that was here, but Hephaistos' attack was much more effective on the monster than his would have been, really.
He made his way to Holi, waiting for Jade to finish with the bandage before shrugging off his coat and offering it to the wounded girl. Space could be cold, and maybe the warmth could bring her some confort...
At least he hoped.
"I'll take her to Virgo." He said. "She needs to get there as soon as possible..." He didn't like people in pain, no sire.

The Tiara hit home and Chronos momentarily clapped her hands over ears as the monster let out a cry of pain. It did not fully vanquish it, however, for she had noticed that it had slithered away. There wasn't any use in following it when it could deceptively hide in shadows, and they had the injured to take care of.
"I'll go with you with Virgo." She told Themis, offering Holi a helping hand. "I need to talk to my Captain about this issue." If they hadn't been here, hadn't been trying to gain access to the Temple, would the monster have managed to slip in and destroy what was inside to smithereens? It wasn't a very pleasant thought. They had to alert the Senshi up here to be careful and keep a watchful eye out... perhaps put a warning on the noticeboard up in the throne room. After all, there was never knowing when danger would strike again in the Surrounding.
And once again, Chronos wished desperately to find a way to send the civilians home. It wasn't fair to have them caught up in the battle here. For now, she held herself as strong as possible.

"Everything it hit is too cold to feel much else." Holi admitted, trying not to hold the injury herself. She felt horrible, horrible that the cat girl was offering up her delicate capelet, that they hadn't been able to fully defeat the monster... She felt sort of responsible, responsible because she'd been injured, responsible because her attempt to take charge and help when most of the senshi had been trapped hadn't gone as she planned, and even more responsible because she felt, rational or not, that her injury had been the major reason why they'd been unable to focus on the monster. She should have been able to do more. Hell, she should have done something, even if it was running up and trying to reach the thing enough to punch it in the 'eye'.
She looked as though she would like to start crying again, but was fighting it as hard as she could.
"It's all my fault."
Never mind that she didn't have magic, never mind she wasn't a senshi, she should have somehow done more when they needed her.

"It's not." Chronos replied firmly, supporting Holi's shoulders carefully as she got the civilian to stand on her feet. "It is ours, to let civilians get hurt in our place of duty." It was still a mystery, a puzzle, why they could not leave the Surrounding, though Chronos was still trying to unravel this to the best of her ability. Books they found in Aquarius and the Castle were unreadable, written in an ancient space language she could hardly remember being taught. "I'm sorry you had to get caught up in this. I never meant for anyone to get hurt." And for this, Chronos was genuinely apologetic.
"The sooner we get to Virgo, the sooner we can get you healed." The Princess said, guiding her towards the entrance room, to where the gaping hole in the barrier opened out to the vast Surrounding.

Magic always beats magic; it also results in bloody cries that could shatter a glass.
Like everyone he crouched down hissing at the sound of the monster screaming, it wasn't pleasing in the least, by the time he looked up towards the squid like beast squirming away into the shadows he could do no more then reach after it swearing as it slipped away. Slowly he worked his way back over to the group frowning.
"We shouldn't have you apologizing, it's our job to protect you guys. We're more resilient then you civilians, not to mention it's why so many of us are here. To make sure stuff like this doesn't happen to you guys." He nodded to Chronos in turn, "I'll stay around and make sure the... thing doesn't come back. My power seems to work well enough on it, if other Senshi are willing to rotate guard we could watch over this place till we find and kill the thing. Or maybe even trap it."

"I also could have done more when everyone else was tangled up." Holi pointed out, stubbornly, apparently unwilling to relinquish the idea that she could have surely done something if she'd made different choices.
"...I guess at least now we know what it does if someone runs into it again."
Right, that could be her new calling if they never got home. Holi Jones Field Guide to Space Monsters. It sounded catchy, almost. "And it's my fault I got hurt, I was too close, and I didn't dodge fast enough." Nope, she'd fallen on her a** like a moron, smooth move Holiday. Celebrate with a nice slice of mental-fruitcake. YUCK. "No one knew it was there, and we didn't know what it could do, so I guess there's plenty of 'beat ourselves up' to go around." She offered, trying to joke a little, though really she was more than ready to retreat to Virgo for a while, all plans for the stone wall totally put aside until she was sure the place was completely cleared of tentacle monsters. She wasn't looking forward to bleeding on, and potentially ruining the cat girls capelet, or Themis's coat, but it was hard to argue with having it bandaged, or the quiet, blessedly un-condescending comfort of a loaned, warm coat.

Jade thanked Cora silently as the cat girl handed her pretty capelet to her. She examined the cloth carefully a moment. It seemed to be silk-like material, fine and clean. A small smile formed on her lips when she thought how lucky she had been to have such a material in her hands. If the cloth really was silk, it would keep Holi's wound warm for some while.
She glanced at the wounded girl quickly before pouring remaining alcohol in the corner of the cloth. "This might hurt. Be ready and try to hold yourself still," she firmly said before starting to clean up the wound with the alcohol-moisted part of the cloth. When she was ready snd the wound was enough sterile for her liking, she started to tie the cloth over the wound. She was not a professional but there was evidence she had treated this kind of injuries before based on her determited movements when she was tending the wound. She was very much focused on what she was doing too. Not even the beast's sudden shriek of pain seemed to bother her much.
Cora however, couldn't keep her pain within herself. As the monster shrieked, the cat girl quickly pressed her hands againgst her large, triangle-shaped ears. Yet, it didn't help. The cat girl curled up in a tight curl against the floor, clearly in pain. Even after the painful voice was long gone, Cora remained there, whining silently and looking rather miserable.

Frostbite made much of the wound numb, but where it wasn't, the alchohol burned, creating an interesting paradox of burning from thawing flesh and burning from her flesh responding to the alcohol, and she bit her lip so hard it almost bled, but she couldn't blame them for wanting to sterilize it. She wasn't sure if she could catch anything from Space Tentacle Monsters, but why take a chance? Between the capelet, and Themis's loaned coat, she felt warmer, and just... better. Not physically but emotionally. It was just kind of nice to have that semi human touch when you were otherwise lost in a strange place, and factored into her reaching to put her good arm instinctively and comfortingly around the whimpering Cora.
"Downside to kitty ears?" She asked, quietly, sympathetically.
