Enough was enough. This was obviously not as fun as the monster had been assuming it was, the fun had gone, and someone was ramming into it as hard as they could! The sac did not burst and shower Ian with its magical blue liquid but it did cause the massive thing to scream in pain, flailing everywhere to knock everyone about.
The flickering body had stopped. Everyone realized that they were back to the way they were, nothing was where it shouldn't be, and those strange enemies had vanished to reveal that several of the civilians were lying prone on the ground.
One was missing.
Mal Landsman had mysteriously vanished. They could call for her, look for her, but the interesting and lively young woman was nowhere to be found. The monster certainly hadn't taken her, retreating and paying little attention past the initial interest in a prone victim. No one could recall seeing her run away, as if there was anywhere to run to.
Ian Davis had something to be proud of. He'd chased off a monster. If he ever saw Destiny City again that would be one hell of a story....
