Neven Telvanni- Warlock

Health : Unharmed ┃ Magicka : recharged┃ Fatigue : Rested ┃ Effects : Night Eye and Detect Life┃Equipped : Weaponward Cuirass (Resist Normal Weapons 9%) Leather Cuirass, Clothes, Mages Staff of Shock [Journeyman], Silver Longsword ┃ Quest Items : NA┃ Location : Goblin Jim's Cave

”I think you give this goblins too much credit.” Neven said as he stretched out his arm and ran his hand across the rock walls of the tunnel. ”While the Goblin Warlords and Shamans are a smarter breed than the common rabble, a secure tunnel with a hidden entrance would be the work of something with more intelligence and cunning.” As Neven ran his hand along the wall, he reached a spot that made him pause. He stepped closer to what seemed like just another section of the rock wall, but something about this particular section was off. In certain ways' it felt very similar to him, like he'd felt this once before. He called out to his companion "Mora come here. Please you hand next to mine and tell me if you don't feel something different about this particular section of the tunnel." As he waited for Mora to act, he turned his attention back to the rock wall. He started to whisper under his breath "I've felt this before...It's familiar, but not quite..." He dived deep into his memories, past the horrors of the Oblivion Crises, back to when he was still on Telvanni Island performing his experiments and studies into the Dwemer disappearance. The realization of what he was sensing, hit him like a guar kick to the forehead. "I know what this is, I had to deal with something similar while on the island of Vvandenfell. The Telvanni are even more secretive and paranoid about keeping their secrets and experiments from the prying eyes of each other, than the Mages Guild will ever be." Neven pointed toward the rock wall, "That sensation is the residual markers left by Magicka usually associated with concealment. The secret passage way you seek, is no doubt behind this wall. Not that it's actually a wall, a very good recreation and one that would be easily passed over by those not trained in the magical arts." Neven took a step back and examined the section from the roof to the floor, "The question now is to figure out the right magical pathway's used to create this illusion. As I said before I've had to deal with one of these in the past, a fellow Telvanni mage had something that I required, but would not relinquish said item to me. So one night I broke into his mushroom tower and proceeded to steal the item from him." The thought brought a rare simile to Neven's face as he remembered the night in question. "It took me hours to figure out the correct pathway but in the ended I left with what I needed."

[[ I didn't want to go any further until everyone had a chance to voice their feelings on what was suggested in the quest's OCC thread. ]]

Mora twisted her mouth in thought. Neven might have been underestimating some goblin's ability, but she had a feeling that the leader of the goblins might not have been goblin or even gobliniod. Either way, he believed her about the possibility of a secret door instead of dismissing it and just going for the loot, which said something about his character that Mora hadn't quite expected. Apparently their first meeting and his encounters with the rest of the group didn't portray his best side. When he thought he was dealing with rational, intelligent people who he didn't feel indebted to, he was actually allright. That was not saying that Mora approved of his intolerance and indecorous behavior. She was just glad he wasn't like this all the time, or she feared she might have to seriously dislike the Dunmer.

She didn't reply to his first comments about goblins being unlikely to have the cunning needed to fashion a secret door, but she did turn and look at him when he stopped and called her over. She did so, staring at the bit of wall that he had his hand against. Her hand joined his, pressed against the patch of wall. At first, the stone felt normal to her relatively untrained fingertips, but then she felt the tingling sensation that was not wholly physical. That was all she could sense, however, and she had no clue what it was. She obviously hadn't the experience that Neven had in the magical arts. For one thing, she figured he was about twice as old as she was and had that many more years of practice. For another, her studies at the University were limited by the amount of field work they had her do. The possibility of a magical hidden door hadn't crossed her mind. Frankly, that made her a little angry at herself. The sour feelings were offset by her thrill of learning something she didn't know before. Mora always loved learning. She nodded her head to indicate that she agreed with him, that that portion of wall did feel different. The Bosmer didn't speak, however, not wanting to risk interrupting his train of thought. He seemed to be getting somewhere...

?????

He poked his head out of the passageway that he had been hiding in ever since the three intruders had began the fight with his pets in the main room where he kept that troublesome fool of a wizard. In his hands he held the staff that made all his power possible. It was very similar to a goblin shaman's staff, but more finely wrought and far more powerful. The man caressed one of the human skulls that decorated the staff, murmuring that it was safe; the intruders weren't going to take it. They would die at the hands of his precious pets...

... but then they weren't dead, instead, all his people were bleeding on the cavern floor. This was some cause for panic, especially now that they had found the key and were rescuing that horrid Marlones. He petted the skull more furtively now, whining to himself that he would have to do something now. Thankfully, it appeared that they had not seen him, though he was a mere thirty of forty feet away. The passage - a secret one, of course - was well-hidden and kept him from sight. Not even his pets knew about its location, let alone how to access it. These people were obviously trained in magika, however, and would probably find it if they looked hard enough. He was about to duck out of sight and make good on his escape, but the wizard known as Marlones squinted in his direction, opened his mouth, and yelled to his rescuers
"There's the other one! Quickly! His staff!"

He swore, throwing a panic fireball at the group gathered around Marlones. Then he turned, magiked the secret door shut, and bolted down the passageway. There were three traps along the way that he had to be careful not to trigger. The first one was a couple maces tied to a string and set up to fall if someone caught their foot on a trip wire. The next two were magical. One would freeze them if they stepped on a pressure plate hidden by gravel that littered the cave and the other would spit a couple fireballs, again if they tripped a wire. He passed all those and came upon his living chamber. It had a bed, some shelves where he kept his ingredients for potions, and a small chest that had a couple enchanted items in it. That chest, of course, was also wired up with a trap that shot a stream of fire at anything in front of it. As a follower of Boethiah, it was pretty much required for the wizard to know a lot on traps and love to trick other people in both harmless and harmful ways.

He couldn't rest there though. He figured they would be right behind him, but probably slowed by the traps he set. The man ran on, easily swiping his hand across the air to open the secret door. That door opened upon a pair of very surprised elves, who were just then in the process of figuring out how the door opened. He barreled through them, casting a touch-based spell that was part drain fatigue, part paralyse. It was a spell he came up with that could be augmented with the staff's ability to enhance magika. He was already a powerful wizard, making the spell devastating. It would make even the most magic resistant creature fall over asleep for hours if they weren't woken up by someone else. That was how he managed to catch Marlones without getting a spell to the face. Of course, casting two such spells left him without magika for pretty much the rest of the week. It was worth it.

Before running out of the chamber, the wizard glanced back at the two fallen elves. A horrible, delighted grin spread across his face as an idea popped into his head. He had enough time for it. He always had enough time to play a trick on someone. Even if he didn't get to see the results. He ran back over to the Bosmer – the one he figured was lighter – and drug her carefully into a compromising position on top of the Dunmer. It was a good thing that they were already so close together. All the while he giggled gleefully. “The other intruders will be very surprised... yes indeed...” Maybe it would even give them pause enough to let him escape. Finished, he turned and ran as fast as he could of the cave, the staff in hand.

Even though Marlones seemed unable to keep quite, which is why the Goblins probably put the silencing spelling on the cage, Coraline felt like he was a kind hermit who hadn't been all there. Not entirely a sane person. He kind of seemed like, to her, a grandfather figure. Someone senile who was still kind, even though he probably was batshit-crazy. And, even as he questioned where her parents were her only reply was ''Probably at work.'' After Coraline was sent to the Academy, she lost most if not all contact with her parents and younger sibling. Even though she is young, she felt isolated at first and then she quickly grew independent though still felt a grudge towards her parents. So she doesn't really know how they are doing, just that they were still alive and sent a gift to her for her birthday and major holidays. At his words pertaining her spellwork, she smiled. She felt in the spotlight with this man. And it wasn't the kind that was just questioning her abilities or just why she was even on this mission.

Though he was quickly speaking of a staff. lt was like an ex-girlfriend. Something always on his mind, a sorry sore. Wanting to just drag him out of this place, she let it go and let him trail on about his mission. Or if it even was his mission. He was completely insane. Coraline, even though she felt kindly towards this man, wanted to second guess his words pertaining anything about a mission, wizards and staffs if at all possible. He was speaking in trailing sentences that quickly leaped to different subjects. She was almost at a loss to think of how his mind was working. Piecing pieces of the puzzle together five pieces at a time, clumping them together before giving the full picture. If the picture was even complete or not, it was what he was putting together with a missing piece.

She hadn't heard about the Goblin's having King. That was all new to her. Even though as fascinating it sounds, she wanted to dismiss it as a prisoner's fabrications to keep himself sane, even though it has probably failed in it's attempt to do so. So without trying to sound rude, she did the best thing she could think of doing, get him out of here. ''
Ser, you shouldn't be venturing through these caverns in your current state. You should get to safety so we can go look for our other companions.'' She walked over to Eliya, slowly so she wasn't about to startle Marlones with sudden movements. She didn't want to get into another physical confrontation, and not with someone who she was supposed to be rescuing him. She stood on her toes and got to the highest point her small frame would allow her to get. She didn't want Marlones to hear what she was about to say. ''l think we should just play along with him and get him to safety quickly. Mora and that Dunmer are still in here.'' She wanted to move quickly just in case the fight they were just in made enough commotion to get the attention of what goblins were left in here, not aware of what Marlones was about to shout and the fireball about to zoom past her.

(OOC l forgot to read Cl's newest post so l just did a quick edit so it is with current posts.)

Hakon Vermundr

Once Marlones told him that the staff he fetched was not the one he was looking for Hakon casually tossed it aside. He had no desire to go spelunking for one meager staff, not matter what it could do, when danger still lurked. Thankfully, the others seemed to be thinking along the same lines. Eliya, ever the leader of the group, voiced her opinion to the aged wizard in a surprisingly respectful tone considering how long they have been fighting for their lives. Marlones then continued to rant on about the importance of the staff, implying that it might even be able to pacify the goblins that plagued the land if used correctly. He wanted to say that a blade would work just as well at pacifying goblin related problems but held his peace after considering what the man had to have gone through. Then there was something about another wizard which was the first time he heard anything of the sort. “Is someone else being held prisoner here? Should we be taking measures to secure them as well?” Oddly enough, that was when the wizard began to speak incoherently, at least to Hakon who soon gave up on trying to get answers from him.

Then, just as suddenly, Marlones started shouting about the wizard being in their vicinity. Following the man’s gaze, Hakon turned around just in time to see a fireball heading towards them. Hoping that fortune would favor him once again, Hakon rushed ahead of the group and threw himself in front of the fireball to ensure it did not reach the others. Bring his shield to cover his face and upper torso, he could feel the attack impact his shield followed by a wave of heat. He had just enough time to realize he did not absorb the attack like he had earlier and in seconds he could feel fire eat at the flesh on his torso and shield bearing arm. While the effects did not last long it still hurt all the same, causing him to stagger to the walls of the cave to grip himself. He cursed under his breath before looking over his shield to see if an enemy was present and only lowered his guard when he saw nothing. “Magic, always magic…” Combine with the arrow wound from earlier he saw that now was a good time as any to patch himself up.

Gritting his teeth, Hakon used a Restoration spell as multiple times until he was satisfied that his wounds were healed. With his magika supply dwindled to nothing, he let out a sigh as he pushed aside the dull aches that lingered before looking towards the others. “Not one word about unnecessary risks.”

Eliya ~

Eliya's words seemed to fall on deaf ears. The crazy old wizard was adamant about retrieving his staff, and was soon babbling on and on about how there was something unique and special about the particular weapon. His words became difficult to understand as he got caught up in what he was talking about. A staff that allowed a normal man to control goblins? Really? Surely the Guild would have said something if this was actually true. Granted, on the far notion that this was an actual possibility, it was more then likely they should check it out. The redheaded Altmer shook her head at her other companions and as Coraline joined her side, she listened the other girl's murmered words and quickly agreed."Look , I think that --" Eliya's sentence was cut off as Marlones started shouting, this time coherently, but even as the mage assassin's eyes looked to the direction the wizard was pointing, she saw a ball of flames speeding towards them.

There was no time to act, and then unexpectedly there was Hakon, taking the brunt of it with his shield. The man was either crazy or heroic, considering they already had the former in the group, Eliya expected it was the latter. Not a bad person to have on your side of battle. Unfortunately for the warrior it was quickly evident that he hadn't successfully absorbed all the magicka, though he did use his knowledge of restoration to make short work of his wounds. "Come on, after him!" Eliya sprinted in the direction the fireball had came from, expecting and hoping that the others would follow her. Any decision as to whether they should go after the Sorcerer with the Goblin Staff had been quickly settled, at least in the Altmer's mind.

Having had a head start Eliya was slightly ahead of the group, her night eye helping her maneuver quickly in the darkness. Swiftly she found the open secret passageway, and ran deftly after the fleeing sorcerer. Eliya was so intent on closing the distance between her and the person she was chasing, that it wasn't until she tripped on the wire of the first trap that she even detected it. Thankfully the Altmer had quick reflexes and managed to duck and dive-roll out of the way of the swinging maces, though one came disturbingly close to cutting off her delicate nose. Breathing hard the elven woman decided to slow her pace down enough so that she could successfully detect traps. Skillfully she stepped past two pressure plates and found herself in a small living quarters area. Eliya's blue eyes vision took a brief pause to scan the room, and noticed the trunk. What curiosities had the sorcerer stored in there? No time. The female woman ignored the room and pressed forward to the opening on the other side.

As she stepped through the open secret doorway into a corridor, a strange sight greeted her. What in the world? Her gaze looked through the corridor to the open door farther down that had sunlight streaming through it, and back down to the two people intertwined on the stone floor. She didn't see any blood, and kneeling down, she checked both of their pulses. They were steady. The elf took a step back and leaned against the stone wall as she waited for the others to arrive after her. The sorcerer had obviously fled the cave so there was no point in chasing after him. Whether he had such an incredible staff or not was still up for debate, and for the moment Eliya was content to laugh silently at the scene in front of her. Oh yes, there was a definite twinkle in the Altmer's eye that matched the smug smile tugging at her lips. Oh how the mighty fall.....

Neven Telvanni- Warlock

Health : Unharmed ┃ Magicka : depleted ┃ Fatigue : unconscious┃ Effects : None┃Equipped : Weaponward Cuirass (Resist Normal Weapons 9%) Leather Cuirass, Clothes, Mages Staff of Shock [Journeyman], Silver Longsword ┃ Quest Items : NA┃ Location : Goblin Jim's Cave

Neven was growing more and more frustrated, whoever set this door up was a paranoid one, even more so than some of his fellow Telvanni mages. Still there was no way he’d given in and quite, not with another person watching him work. No his pride would not all that; he would figure out the correct pathways and break this door down even if it took him all day to do so. He poured more of his magical and mental might into deciphering the myriad of pathways, he knew that he would be greatly drained and thus having to rely more on his blade skills and the skills of this companion when and if they actual meet this possible other wizard. Every time he thought he discovered the correct path, he would be greeted with disappointment as each path lead to a dead end after dead end. Just as Neven thought he found the correct path the door way suddenly opened on its own. Surprised Neven couldn’t react fast enough to protect himself, not that he would have managed much as he his magikca reserves were nearly gone, he didn’t even have time to shout out a warning to Mora. A robed man maybe mer barreled right into him, Neven suddenly felt as he hadn’t slept in days, he struggled to stay conscious. Just as quickly as the overwhelming fatigue hit him, he saw a flash of green light, and nothing else as he crashed to the floor fully paralyzed.

------->MARLONES<-------

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Marlones jogged after Eliya, though he was nowhere near as fast or agile as she was, so he quickly fell behind. He did manage to see her almost get hit by the first trap, and was, from then on, smart enough to proceed with as much caution as she. That, and a knowledge of magic, successfully got him down the passageway unharmed and un-trapped. The first sight he took in was the Altmer leaning against the wall, a faint sense of amusement coming from her as she looked to the floor. He looked down as well, and saw a pile of unconscious Mer. Having not seen the two before, he wasn't sure what to think about their current... position. Surely, the two wouldn't have gone into an occupied goblin cave to do... whatever it was they were doing.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx He knelt to touch one of the Wood elf's legs that were wrapped around the Dark elf's hips to feel for residual magic. It was all too familiar, of course. This was a spell that was used to subdue him so they could put him in that blasted cage. His teacher mode activated, and he began to lecture everyone present about what had gone on. "Powerful fatigue drain spell combined with a paralysis, amplified by the staff. Is this couple part of your group? Next time I would think twice about letting them go off alone together if you have any hope of them helping you. Anyway, they won't wake up for another hour or two unless your wake them up yourself. The paralysis doesn't last very long, but they will be very physically drained for quite some time. It took me a couple days, actually. But they're young. Might recover more quickly. Still absolutely no good in a fight, of course."

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Marlones' brain switched back to what he had been thinking of before, once the subject of the spell was pretty much exhausted. "The staff! That wizard is long gone by now. Heroes! You have to track him down and stop him! I need that staff!"

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx His thought process switched back to the two elves on the floor when he saw something useful out of the corner of his eye. "A restore fatigue potion!" He exclaimed before extricating the item from the padded pouch on Mora's belt. "Not often do mages label their potions as well as she does - that's why it stood out." He unstoppered the bottle and simply splashed it on the faces of both elves. While not very economical, Malones figured it would be enough to wake the two up with the least amount of effort. And if the female elf complained, then he would explain that that was what she got for being so... unprofessional.

Yaa'namora

It was warm... warm and hazy; very difficult to remember where and when she was. It was comfortable. Safe, secure, friendly. Where was she? She fought with herself to try to find out what was happening. Her body and half her mind wanted to remain in the fog that could at once be described as wonderful and painful. But that other half of her consciousness, the questioning, curious side of her mind, had to find out what was going on. As she felt herself slowly regain her senses, she remembered a vague sense that she was in danger. She tried to make her body respond in kind, but her limbs were numb and unresponsive. She tried to open her eyes, but they were so heavy... So she set herself to feeling where she was. That warmth... it was mostly under her, though there was something wrapping around her as well. A blanket? No, it had its own heat... a person? Yes? Who could it be? Who would be so familiar with her? That thought was rather startling, since literally no one in her life had been so close to her since she was a child in her mother's arms. A good part of her wanted to remain in the rare comfort, but that part was very quickly now giving into fear and confusion.

It was with tremendous effort that Mora managed to tilt her body enough that she could roll off of whomever was under her. She found that her eyes were able to labor open to get a look at the mystery stranger. At first it was just a blurry, dark shape, but then it focused upon a figure she identified as Neven. She groaned, the feeling of mortification rising so high that she could feel it over the haze that dulled her emotions. The next figure she saw was Eliya, looking extremely amused. At that point, she didn't want to know who else was in the room. Both her hands rose just enough to cover her very red face. She groaned again, a dismayed sound. That wizard had played a very foul trick on her, making that the very first time she had ever been that... intimate with a man. And then leaving the two of them to be found by people who she respected and was hoping to one day befriend, people who actually pretty much hated the man she inadvertently slept with.

"We. Are going. To kill. That wizard." She mumbled through her hands with all the vehemence she could muster.

The ball of fire crashed against Harkon's Shield, waves of heat still wrapping around his guard and scorching the armor he wore. She could smell burnt hair and singed flesh underneath and understood that he wasn't able to take the spell as well as he did earlier. Her eyes darted to where Marlones pointed and yelled that there was the mysterious mage that he had been speaking about only moments earlier. Her previous judgments of his mental stability were soon shot out of her mind as she watched Eliya charge forward towards him. ''Harkon are you alright?'' she asked almost a bit too early to see he was already starting to mend his own wounds. She felt useless to see his ability with restoration compared to her own. She wasn't as skilled to help someone else with their wounds but was able to mend her own, a little bit at a time.

After her initial hesitation she followed Eliya towards the rogue mage. Leaping from the incline they stood on and darting once her feet landed, her sword now in her hand ready to sever limbs. Her feet carried her as fast as they could but was still unable to keep up with Eliya's own pace. She made an excuse for herself saying it was her lack of energy and a wounded side, but the fact was she was just smaller then her and thus her stride wasn't as great. She watched the first trap go off and just barely miss the other Altmer. Once it did she quickly caught up to her and was able to be as light-footed as her companion towards their target. A few traps were dismantled and soon they were in a secret corridor.

Two people lay on the ground, their bodies limp and chests seemingly still. Thinking they were dead she was quick to dismiss them but her attention was brought back to them once Marlones had said they were only unconscious. He searched one of them, who she was surprised to see was Mora, and bring out a potion and put it to her lips for her to drink. ''
lndeed, they are in our party, ser.'' she said politely but smiling and slightly humored. lt didn't take long for the two to be soon at least sitting up again, Mora exclaiming that she was out for a vendetta against a wizard they had only caught a glimpse of. She wanted to say some kind of witty remark on how the two who didn't want to work with the others were the ones who ended up finding themselves unconscious. Though she held her tongue for the brief moment and just waited for orders or at least what their next move was, she did have a few things to speak but decided for the best interest of the party was to remain quite. Though that didn't stop her lips from grinning and a small chuckle behind them.

She wasn't sure that if they were still going to pursue the mage with their team's current condition or just take Marlones back to safety. She didn't see herself as the leader at all and did not want to delve into Eliya's territory.

Hakon Vermundr

Seeing as Eliya and Caroline had already taken off the wizard that attacked them with Marlones chasing after them it looked as if Hakon had no choice but to assist them. He’d rather leave the wretched cave but if Marlones was so intent on getting the staff then he’d probably return as soon as the group handed him off to the Mages Guild anyway. Not to mention it was probably a bad idea leaving a strong, violent wizard to his own devices. However, Hakon knew that this would probably be a difficult fight and he did not know if the three of them would have the strength, magika or otherwise, to overcome the man. Goblins were a predictable sort, wizards on the other hand, had a vast magical arsenal they could rely on. It didn’t help that they would be going in unfamiliar territory that could be filled with traps be either group but so long as Marlones was alive it was his job to keep it that way. Pushing the lingering discomfort to the corner of his mind, Hakon fell in behind the others as they chased after the wizard.

He had luckily avoided any traps that were in his path but he never kept his free hand too far from his sword just in case there was danger. In time the line of companions slowed to a stop, making Hakon wonder if there was some imminent danger in front of them. When nothing became apparent he finally followed their gazes towards the ground and the slumped over figures. He instantly recognized them as those who had split off earlier and feared the worst only to be told they were merely unconscious. While he was thankful that they were fine, Hakon couldn’t help but worry over the fact that the hostile wizard took the time to simply knock them out and rearrange the two rather than kill them where they stood. Either the man was that powerful or he had simply caught the two unawares. Hopefully it was the latter. Mora was the first to recover and while he could share the feeling of dismay she must have felt at that moment it didn’t stop him from grinning briefly as he held his hand out to help her up, should she accept the offer. “Easy now. Let’s take this one step at a time. No need to rush off with anger clouding our judgment.”

He did not offer his hand to Neven, both because he knew the man would see it as an insult and the mutual disgust at touching one another. Hakon would rather the other man stew in his own feeling at being bested by a madman anyway.

Neven Telvanni- Warlock

Health : Unharmed, few scraps, slowly regaining feeling to his limbs. ┃ Magicka : recharging ┃ Fatigue : drained┃ Effects : None┃Equipped : Weaponward Cuirass (Resist Normal Weapons 9%) Leather Cuirass, Clothes, Mages Staff of Shock [Journeyman], Silver Longsword ┃ Quest Items : NA┃ Location : Goblin Jim's Cave

He was stuck in a fog, a warm heavy fog that prevented him from understanding where he was and what he had been doing. What he was certain of was he was bone tired, more tired that he had ever felt. The idea of sleeping for an entire day was a very pleasing one to him, but some nagging feeling in the back of his mind ran counter to that idea. Though the haze and fog he could hear hushed voices as if listening to the sound of a large crowd at a party from the room next door. He wanted to shout out and tell them all to shut their mouths that he wanted to continue to sleep and their noise was preventing that from happening. Neven attempted to roll over and fall back to sleep but some heavy force across his chest and lower body prevented him from doing that. He forced his eyes open, wishing immediately that he hadn’t. Standing around him were the other members of his party and by some cosmic bad luck on his part, his first sight upon awaking was that of Eliya staring down at him, with nothing but a smirk on her face. Half a dozen retorts skipped though his mind, each one ending in threats to permanently remove her ability to smirk.

In an effort to reclaim his dignity Neven once again tried to raise his body off the stone floor, and once again he was prevented from doing so. He took a quick look down to discover that the weight was actually Mora, lying across his chest as if in a lovers embrace. While some of his fellow Telvanni house members kept bed slaves, Neven however was not one of those. He had a wife and thus didn’t need the services of some slave. When Mora’s gaze meant Neven’s he said, ”I’m flattered, but I’m also married. So how about you get off me.” With some effort on both his and her part they managed to untangle their bodies from one another’s. Neven pushed himself up against the stone wall and then tried to stand, he quickly slide back down to keep from falling on his a**. The effects of that second mage’s, who seemed to have a twisted sense of humor, spell stilled prevented Neven from standing just yet. Neven would make sure that the mage got his, and from the way that Mora was fuming she felt the same as he did. ”Whoever that rogue mage was he’s going to pay with his life, no one makes a fool out of me!” He could involve the Morag Tong, but that would deprive Neven of the of so sweet sensation of killing that mage himself.

While his body recovered his mind moved on to more pressing issues. ”So I take it one of you used a potion of restore stamina on Mora and me. I’d thank you but the potion could have been stronger.” Neven glanced around the party and noticed that they had picked up an additional person while he and Mora had gone off on their own. Neven stared down the old man, who gave off an air of madness, maybe this one had a close relationship with the Mad God Sheogorath? ”I take it you’re the lost mage the oh so powerful Mage’s Guild sent us to find? I do hope you were worth the trouble of rescuing.” While waiting for someone to answer his questions Neven thought he’d give standing another shot. From the corner of his eye he took notice that Harkin had extended his hand out to help Mora up, but made no attempt to offer assistance to Neven. Not that Neven would rightly care for assistance from that the lumbering wall of unevovled flesh.

Slowly, testing each motion, Neven finally rose to his feet. He swayed side to side a bit before finding his balance still he stuck one hand out to brace against the wall just in case. With his other free hand he pulled loose his Mage’s Staff from its harness and proceeded to inspect that it hadn’t been damaged in the fall, as he had landed on his back after being paralyzed. Satisfied that the staff was still in excellent condition he planned the tip into the stone floor with the intention of using the staff as a walking stick. He turned his attention back to the old man and asked ”So old man why and or how did you manage to get yourself captured by a pack of beasts?”

Eliya ~

The others quickly caught up to Eliya and when they did, the wizard Marlones was quick to check the bodies. The redheaded woman said nothing at first in response to the old man's comments about the two elves laying on the floor, she wasn't really sure it was worth taking the time to answer the man. Fortunately Coraline answered affirmatively about the two being members of their group, but when the wizard mentioned the staff again, Eliya felt the need to speak up. Before she had a chance to do so, however, the wizard was rambling again as he splashed a potion over the two elves to wake them.

Eliya enjoyed watching the groggy eyes of Nevan and Mora slowly open, the confusion, quickly followed by realization and horror, quickly wrapped together around a main focus, anger. They pushed away from one another quickly enough, and Hakon was kind enough to offer a helpful hand to Mora. No one offered a hand to Nevan, and Eliya allowed the smug smile on her face to remain even as he wobbly stood up. The dunmer wasted no time in reminding the group why they had separated in the first place. As what appeared to be normal for him, he spoke with condescending rudeness to the older wizard and as he did so, Eliya decided it was time to speak up, her voice a combination of smugness and sarcasm.

"Don't thank us all at once for waking you or anything, I would have preferred to leave you here. But seeing as you had a nice nap while we were doing our job, do try to keep up. The conjurer has fled and our mission has been successful." All traces of humor disappeared from her voice. "We must return you safely to the Mage's Guild in Skingrad," her gaze had left Nevan and she was looking at Marlones. She intercepted the wizard before he could speak, raising her voice slightly. "You of all people should be aware of how the guild feels about orders, when they give them they expect them to be carried out. We were instructed to find you and return you to safety. It is unfortunate that the wizard has escaped with your staff, but he has a good lead ahead of us and you will simply have to take up your issue with the Mage's Guild when you get back."
She gestured to the exit of the cave that had fading sunlight streaming through it. "I for one would prefer to get back to Skingrad before dark." By her estimation she figured they had just enough time if they left within the next five-ten minutes to arrive back at Skingrad as darkness settled. No way was she going to spend the night camped out in the wilderness when she had a comfy bed at the mage's guild only an hour's journey away. "As our business here is done, I will be outside, and leaving in five minutes. Anyone who wishes to join me is welcome." Her gaze flickered to Nevan. "But if you need to stay the night to rest up I'm sure we can carry on once more without your extraordinary assistance." She turned to Marlones, "If you come with me, I'l escort you to the Skingrad Mage's guild, as I assume you are likely ready for a warm meal and comfortable bed." Eliya then turned around and walked the short distance to the exit, promptly beginning to ready Apollo as she awaited any others who wished to travel back. If Marlones didn't come willingly....well she might have to think of something else...but surely he would see reason...hopefully he would see reason and go with her. He must.

------->MARLONES<-------

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx “Oh, you can kill the other wizard I suppose. Just get his staff when you're done! It's of the utmost importance!” Marlones said, his eyes going slightly wild with excitement. He got distracted by the Dunmer when he began very rudely mouthing off to him. Instead of looking angry, the old man was fascinated by the elf. How could someone you just helped out of a very embarrassing situation be so openly rude to you?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx “How did I get captured? The same way you did. You felt the power of that spell. It was because of the staff he has. It's made the goblins think he's a god. Which is interesting, because usually just a random but powerful wizard can't usually convince the creatures to worship him. Maybe because of how the staff was decorated. Looks like a goblin staff, but... I don't know, nicer?” The old man bumbled on when the dark elf asked how he was captured.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx But now the pretty redhead was telling him about how they needed to get back to safety. Now that she mentioned it, he was tired... and hungry and thirsty and dirty and smelly. He was far too old for this... Yeah, he wanted to get back to the mages guild and recover before setting off after the mage. Even if the staff was so fascinating and important to retrieve. They seemed desperate to get him back... he saw a potential advantage here. “Okay, I'll go back with you. But you have to promise me that someone competent will go after the staff! Otherwise I'm staying right here.”

Yaa'namora

Mora gave Neven a derisive snort when he made the comment about him being flattered, but he was married. As if she would devise such a thing that would only end in her very obviously apparent humiliation and anger. She didn't pursue the matter, however, because she figured he knew that the situation was caused by the wizard. There was no point to start a fight with him just because he said something insulting. Besides, she was too tired to put forth such an effort when the evil wizard was the main cause of the situation they found themselves in.

She was still covering her red face when she heard the heavy footsteps of the Nord in their party. She moved her hands down a little in order to look at him as he spoke to her. She didn't like that brief grin on his face, and almost had the knee-jerk reaction of refusing his help. That would have been juvenile and stupid. Besides, if Neven's stumbling around was any indication of how hard it was to stand, then she was in for a struggle. In the mindset she was currently in, she barely wanted to stand. She wanted to go back to sleep. No... she had to get up... she had to continue... She reached out, took Hakon's hand, and let him haul her up.

When she was on her feet she realized that staying up was going to be a lot harder than she thought. In fact, if she hadn't caught herself on Hakon's arm she probably would have ended up back on the floor. “Sorry.” She apologized absently before steadying herself enough for her to stand on her own. A quick check of the pouches on her hip told her that the wizard took one of them. She sighed, mourning the wasteful way he wok them up. Well, at least he thought to wake them up. She wouldn't berate him for helping her. She took out the last two fatigue potions, handed one to Neven, and downed one herself. “Here. These should at least steady us.” And that it did. As soon as she swallowed she felt that she could at least walk without falling over.

She turned toward the wizard, Marlones, and said. “Thank you for waking us up. I'm glad to see you in good heath. Eliya is right; we need to get you to safety. I promise I will track down that wizard when I can. I believe he owes me an apology” he voice turned menacing. It was obvious she took her dignity very seriously. "And I suppose I'll get the staff while I'm at it."
