Christof could only wheeze and pant in response, lurching forward- the tree was growing closer- so close- so close but the Doom Buggy was circling- He stopped short just in time to be broadsided by a twisting, cracking bumper, Barth tumbling off his hunch and across the make-shift roll bar.

A roll bar was not the most comfortable place to be plastered on. It was a good place to gum up the works, but Barth couldn't quite bring himself to entirely destroy the Buggy, not when it was running so nicely and clearly had...well, at least an active mind of its own.
Although...
He hung on, concentrating on his claws. He could handle another build up of Fear. This time his hand darkened, starting to drip with a black, awful ooze, and...
He was thrown clear again.

Somehow in the tussle Christof has located his legs once again, wobbling now as he hauled Barth to his feet. The Doom Buggy was clearly out for blood- or perhaps sport- well, he had tamed the Patchwork Lepus, hadn't he? This was just... just a part of the process! The attack had left them tumbling to the foot of the tree at least and grunting, he grabbed the sloth around his middle and before he could protest (or command) he hefted him up to the branches.

Finally, finally up and out of the way, Barth shook his claw loose of slime, which made hissing noises as it dripped down into the other branches and ground below.
The Doom Buggy revved its engine again, speeding into the bottom of the trunk. The tree shook, but was fortunately sturdy. It backed up to try again, and again, before making frustrated circles around the tree like a hungry shark. Another lunge, this time sending it up the tree as far as its frame would allow, wheels spinning uselessly against the air. The tree stayed put. The car went back to circling.
Barth situated himself for the long haul, finding a comfortable and stable limb to lounge on while he watched the car.
"Look at it!" He said, pleased. "It's extraordinary! It threw me off when I was going to attack, did you see?"

Christof was still kicking, scrambling and struggling to pull himself up, a just barely Fear-connected leg dropping to the grass for the Doom Buggy to trample. He was wheezing still as he hung like wet laundry from the branch, just barely able to focus up on Barth's eager face as though staring at a mad man. Well. He supposed he wasn't any better. "Perhaps-assembled-wrong?" He managed with what remained of his hands.

"No, no. Not at all. It's...stunning, really. Perfect. It's doing what it was made for, rampaging properly. Persistent, too. Just needs to, err, get used to us, is all. You assembled it beautifully. Durable, too, smashing into everything without getting out of shape. I knew it just wanted some wheels," Barth hardly looked at Christof, now able to appreciate the Doom Buggy in full. He finally turned to the igor, practically glowing with adoration.
"Couldn't have asked for better."

"Everything-we-built-won't-try-to-kill-us-will-they?" He signed slowly, face flushing at the sudden compliment, despite the rolling death circling under the tree like a waiting lion on wheels. He shifted, lifting a knee to try to twist into a more comfortable position. "What-do-we-do-now?" He supposed they could throw sticks at it... maybe jump on it and try to rip out the battery... somehow he didn't think that would end well.

"The recliner probably won't," Barth said. "...My vote is waiting. It'll err...get tired sometime. Or run out of fuel. Whichever happens first."

Christof sighed, shifting as best he could in the branches to get more comfortable. He could try to pull the lost parts back from where they had scattered, but everything left behind seemed fairly roadkill by then.
There was plenty of time to kill surmising a way to keep his homework on his person the next time they took it for a test drive, he supposed miserably.
