Herryk moved sullenly from one Gym to the next, his face darkened by gunpowder-like residue, his eyebrows seriously singed and his entire person reeking of fish.
Which would it be today at THIS gym? Another metal table to smash? Another stone table to break his hand on?
Wrong.
The table shattered when his fist connected with it and a small yellow thing dropped into the rubble. Herryk snatched it up and shoved it into his loincloth.

The first two times were enough to spook Roch. So this time he only tapped the table with his fist, grunting with twisted satisfaction as the metal sound rang out against his rings. Yeah, this booth was probably meant to piss people off.

Hey- the tatzel still had her other hand... it hadn't yet occurred to her that she could just go at the tables again with her other fist. Vengeance would be hers. Shaking out her already shocked hand, the white haired ghoul picked a table target to get out her fishy-foiling frustrations on.
She let out a hiss again at the same thing happening that had before- only this time there was a slight scraping against her knuckles and the texture of the table's surface grated with skin. This was not just like the last table. WAS THIS THING MADE ROCK?! HOW DO YOU HIDE THAT?! A bit baffled by the fine workmanship of the stone table, Levi blinked at it one last time before curling her fist up to her chest in comfort. Walking just far away enough for her to still see the tables, she sat in the midsts of stand debris and waited out the sting again.

Attica lifted her fist and slammed it into the table. But she had already numb herself to the pain. That and the pain killers she took after were a great help. She looked at the man behind the booth "I don't care if I break my damn hand I'm gonna beat this and win.

Why did he keep punching these tables made of rock?
Marosa had long since stopped whimpering, only letting his shoulders roll down as he walked away, grimacing at the shape of his hand.
At least he was getting some practice...? Toughening up his muscles...? Or some junk like that...

With his fist still hurting like hell, Jericho decided to switch over to his left hand. It wasn't quite as strong, seeing how it wasn't his dominant arm, but perhaps he'd be able to break through still. Gritting his teeth, he glared at the tables before launching his fist right at the next one. All that his knuckles met was a metal surface, causing him to cringe back in pain.
"Jack damn tables," he growled, shaking his left hand.
He was going to come away with some seriously bruised hands for sure, but he was going to bust through. HE HAD TO.

Cain entered the next gym, still grimacing as he tried to wipe the fishy slime off of his shirt. There was just something unbelievably wrong about attacking a poor Reaper with fish, for Jack's sake. It wasn't a fair fight, first off!
As he entered the gym, his anger seemed to double, and then triple. "Stupid gym." He fumed. "Who throws a fish anyway!? That's a coward's weapon!" He just, he just wanted to...
To...
To hit something!
Spotting a table nearby that looked weak enough for him to not kill himself hitting, Cain reared back and swung with all of his might.
The crunch of bones was a dead giveaway. With a weak, startled, and so utterly pained yelp, Cain crumbled, nursing his wounded hand as tears sprung to his eyes. "Whyyyy..."
Where was his luck today!

Herryk was still feeling a little grouchy about how his day at the gyms had gone so far. The fish, the clock, the explosions, the singed eyebrows and ... and ... it had just been so terrible.
After securing his new minipet in his loincloth, Herryk's attention shot towards a wailing boil. Herryk gave the boil a sympathetic glance before lurching in the boil's direction. Maybe they could commiserate together. That sounded pretty good.
"These are tricky tables," Herryk sighed softly, shaking his head. "Herryk wanted to cry the first time he tried to smash a table made of metal. But he didn't. Herryk wanted to cry the next time when he tried to smash a table made of stone," he paused for effect, "but he didn't. Herryk has had fish thrown at him, springs hit his face, clocks explode in his hands," he gestured at his singed brows, "but Herryk keeps trying. Do not give up, spotted friend," Herryk consoled, trying to make the befreckled boil feel a little better.

Cain sniffed, fuming at himself for being such a baby. It didn't hurt that badly. ... Well, okay, that was a lie. But you didn't see everyone else crying like a baby over breaking your fist on a stone table! Rubbing his eyes with his good hand, Cain glanced up when he heard something, and blinked at the guy who was talking to him.
"... So you've met the fish booth too, huh? Who throws a fish, anyway" He muttered ruefully, getting up and holding his hand to his stomach lightly. He'd have to get it checked out by a nurse, most like. But if it was broken, he'd see bones, right? Right! ...right? D:
"Thank you, though. For the encouragement." Cain said after a minute, forcing a smile for his new companion. "... I'm Cain." He reached out with his good hand, like his father did. It's polite, he'd intone. And politeness won wars! "Sorry, I just..." He grimaced.
"I lack your, uh... bulk." Herryk could probably break Cain in half like a toothpick. ... Oh, that was a horrible thought.

Herryk eyeballed the spotted-Cain's outstretched hand warily. With the luck he'd been having today, it was likely that Herryk would crush the boil's other hand. That would just be fan-jacking-tastic, now wouldn't it?
Herryk took pride in being polite, though, and stretched his meaty hand out, as well. Let the other boy clasp it, he figured, and he wouldn't have to run the risk of maiming his new friend.
"I am Herryk," he said redundantly, looking slightly chagrined. "I also hate fish." Especially catching fish with his face, he really hated that.
He wasn't quite sure what to make of spotted-Cain's comment about bulk, so he merely kept silent about it.
"It is nice to meet you. How many badges have you conquered?"

Cain was secretly grateful at being given the control over the handshake. Breaking his other hand would just be unfortunate today. He grasped Herryk's hand, shaking it before letting go, and grinned a little. "It's nice to meet you." He said honestly, scoffing a little at the fish comment.
"I took one to the face. It was horrid. Their aim is pretty accurate." He grimaced, rubbing his cheek as though the fishy slime was still there. Eugh, just thinking about going back there... Bleh.
"I just have the one badge." He answered, fishing out the little badge he'd pocketed after that weird game with Time Out. "A bit late to the game, I guess." He snorted. "Dunno how I missed all the action, but." He grinned a little. "What about you?"

Ho ho. Ho ho ho. Oh ho ho. Herryk's demeanor visibly brightened when Cain asked him how many badges he'd lain claim to. Herryk reached down to his boot, fishing around inside with two thick fingers before producing his battle card. Crumpled, sweat-stained and with a small tear in the center, Herryk proudly showed the other boil his six shiny, shiny badges.
"Herryk has won six badges all on his own," Herryk boasted, barrel-chest puffing outward with pride. "You are very small," he added sadly, shaking his head, "but do not be upset. Herryk has a small friend named Jove who is very good at jumping and flipping. Perhaps you should try these things and win more badges?"
Shoving a hand down the front of his loincloth, Herryk produced a squished-looking yellow peep-like pet with a flourish. "Herryk won this thing here today. It was hiding under the table that Herryk broke." He shrugged. "It is ... not certain what will become of this thing."

Well, there was a difference this time when Vero attempted this "rage-fu" that was all the craze here: rather than hitting a metal table, it hit . . . solid rock.
What was the cracking sound? Had it broken a bone? Pain shot up through the spirit's arm, and it winced as it nursed the poor thing to its chest.
"We will never get this right . . ." Perhaps Vero simply wasn't one to house the rage needed to find the "correct" tables.
It spotted several boils ahead, one of which was quite familiar. It approached carefully, watching the mass of tables as if one would leap at it. "Have either of you had better luck?"

Herryk's expression brightened even further upon catching sight of Vero.
"These tables are very mysterious to Herryk," he said to the wisp, watching it as it moved towards him. He tilted his head in compassion as he caught sight of the wisp cradling its arm. "These tables look as if they are crafted from wood. Some are," he said, dangling the sorry looking minipet between two fingers, "but others are made of stone or metal."
He sighed woefully, glancing back at Cain.

((Return, I have!))
"Wow." Cain said, eying the card with awe. Six badges? Six! He'd only gotten the one by chance; the others were proving more difficult to get. And Herryk already had six of them. Color him jelly, man. He lifted his gaze from the card to Herryk, blinking, and grumbled a little.
"My brother got all the tallness. I got the short end of the bone." He said, shrugging it off and smiling a little. "That's a good idea, though." Heck, anything had to be better than what he was doing now. If he was lucky, jumping around would lead to less bone damage.
Cain watched Herryk reach into the loincloth, blinking at the peep he produced. What the-- "Oh, a mini." He leaned in for a closer look, amused. "It's hard to tell what they turn into, yeah. But still, a prize is a prize." He said, looking up with a slight grin. "It's good that one of us won something." He'd just have to be more persistant to win something to show Herryk.
From the sounds of another boil, the Tables had claimed another victim. Cain looked over and grimaced in sympathy for the spirit.
"He has." He nodded to Herryk's peep shaped prize, snorting a bit. "I just got the stone table, too." He rubbed his hand, smiling sheepishly. "Luck of the draw, I guess." He said of the tables being disguised.
