Not knowing any better Hail tried to wash off her paw further using the salt water. After mewing in pain for a moment she settled on licking the wound completely clean. With that done she limped back to the hole she was digging before. Laying down on her belly she looked into it carefully looking for the shell she had hurt herself on. Using her non injured paw she fished out the shell and looked it over. It was pale blue shell intertwined with a rainbow mix of colors; besides the sharp spot her paw found it was smooth. The shell was actually too half and inside was something round and pretty. Hail didn’t crack open the shell for fear of losing the object inside. Rather she bite the shell careful not to scratch it and limped back to her box to put her latest prize inside to join the others. She flipped the lid of the box using her tail and dropped the new shell inside to join the others. So far she had quite a collection growing of shells, feather, and pretty rocks. Sighing she licked her wound. It wasn’t that it was bleeding badly anymore, rather that it was annoyingly painful. She couldn’t limp back from her box to the shore to keep digging without getting more sand or other irritants in it. Sitting down she starred at her treasures before placing the lid back on top. Then she just kept staring at the lid not really knowing what else to do since she couldn’t keep digging.

Razor finally broke through the trees, pausing to blink irritatedly in the bright sunlight. Once his eyes adjusted he looked around trying to get his bearings.
He was pretty sure this was the same beach. Well the ocean was huge, he'd probably run into it no matter where he started, as long as he kept going the same way. Point was it looked similar to the beach he'd stumbled on....was it a week ago? Yea close to it. Wow, that was a really long time to ask anybody to wait around with no promises. Razor briefly felt a twinge of chargrin, but quickly suppressed it. Hey, the chick had volunteered to wait!
He harumphed and plopped his butt down on the sand. So what, was he going to have to comb the entire beach looked for Hail and hoping she hadn't wandered away? He didn't think so. He gathered a great lungful of air, chest swelling up like a bullfrog.
"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaail."
Razor sucked in a lungful of air and closed his jaws, proud of his call. Heck, Lunarie probably even heard him!

Her ears flicked at the sound of someone bellowing her name. She turned and looked left and right trying to figure out who was calling her. She though she saw someone up shore from her near the woods. Curious she squinted and thought she thought it was Razor she wasn’t sure though. She grasped her box with her tail and started to hobble toward whom she assumed was Razor. It was hard to do when she was trying to stay off the pad of her injured paw. Beach sand got into her injury and she winced. She still kept going even though the more she stepped the more it hurt. She called out loud. “Razor?” She stumbled in her haste to get to Razor and feet face first into the sand. Her box stayed tucked tightly in her tail. It was her own fault for trying to move quickly toward him. What could she say she was excited to speak with him again? Spitting out sand she looked up at the fox before her. Shifting her paws she whimpered and pulled her injured paw up to her muzzle and licked it again.

Razor had already started walking towards Hail at a brisk pace, having spotted her just before she called out his name. Even from here he could tell she was limping badly, and when she took the tumble into the dirt he sped up a notch.
"Tch, you an idiot or something," he asked upon reaching her, looking critically down at the vixen. Despite that, his touch was surprisingly gentle as he reached out and turned her paw over for him to inspect. He grunted, then turned it back. "Jus' let it bleed. Th' blood'll clean out th' sand an' anythin' else tha' might be in th' wound. Lickin' it'll only drive stuff deeper in th' flesh."

“oh..” Hail blushed a bit as she stared at her supine paw. No wonder things hadn’t been getting better for her. She huffed at it and then turned it back over and tucked it under her body so that it wouldn’t be touching the painful stinging sand.
Looking back up at Razor she blinked and stared at him for a moment. Should she be mad at him? She had thought so before, but he had come back and clearly he did remember who she was so she supposed she couldn’t be mad at him. “Verdict?” She asked simply. If she were allowed to follow him back to his tribe and he decided to take off now her journey would not be comfortable one. Should she give him something for the helpful advice? Normally she would have offered a shell she found, but Razor always seemed to have an odd sense of when and why things should be given. Her ear flicked as she pondered that thought while waiting for Razor’s answer to her question.

Razor shrugged. "Elder ain't got no problem wit' you join' th' tribe. Di'n't t'ink he would, wha' Elder say no ta new members." He looked Hail up and down, orange eyes apprehensive. "Said I had ta make sure I 'splained what Lunarie was about though, make sure yous really wanted ta join. This ain't somethin' simple, tribe's like family. We take care of family, and we don't jus' walk out on 'em wit'out a good reason. Tha's why it's good ta make sure you c'n share the same beliefs."
He shrugged again, looking away. "Offered f'r Trump ta come wit' if he wanted, looks like he stayed home."

Trumph? What was a trumph? A person or a pet of somekind? Or what Trumph the elder himself? She blinked thinking it over. She wanted to ask but wasn’t sure she should. “so then what are Lunarie’s rules that I am to abide by while I follow you?” She blinked and tilted her head. She set her box down on the sand feeling her tail start to get a bit tired. Beliefs.. she was certain those were ways to view the world. She didn’t think she had to many of those so as long as she could adopt the beliefs of the tribe she would do alright. Taking of strangers like family seemed odd to her since her family thought her capable of caring for herself as a kit and left her. She supposed that wasn’t too bad a way to treat others. Help them when they can’t care for themselves and then leave them alone as soon as they can. It would keep all members capable of work busy and those who couldn’t care for themselves to have help.

Razor shrugged. "Well firs' off, we're mostly a nocturnal bunch. Couple of us are flexible enough t' wake up in th' day, but all th' action happens at night."
From there he launched into the various rules of the tribe. There honestly weren't much. Most of it was basic stuff common to every tribe, the rest was the peculiars that made Lunarie what it was. Foxes who loved the night and worshipped the moon? Not really much to say...
"An' tha's about it. Think ya got it," Razor asked, eyeing Hail like he was sure she hadn't got it.
((Didn't want to type it all out, just assume he explained Lunarie to her XD ))

Hail listened quietly and then stared at Razor for a while. “Your tribe’s foxes worship the moon doesn’t have many enemies and foxes can travel as families or as a large group… so my fallowing you won’t be an issue.” Hail summarized what she felt was the most important parts of what Razor had explained. He had gone over strange things like the different faces of the moon being important but Hail didn’t think that was too important. She didn’t care what the moon looked like or when it disappeared. As long as she could follow Razor she felt she would be happy.

Razor shrugged. "That'll work f'r now. After you been around awhile yous get t' understandin' th' whole reglious aspect. Ain't too important in th' beginning." He looked Hail over, sizing her up. "So keepin' all that in mind, yous still wantin' t' join up?"

“Your tribe leader doesn’t mind me following you. That’s all I need to know. The rest is unimportant.” Hail smiled at Razor and started at him. She tried to get up without thinking and put weight on her hurt paw. After wincing she lifted her paw up. “I follow you Razor. I find you fascinating.”

Razor stared at Hail for a moment, then shook his head. "Jus' don't blame me if you regret it later," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
He glanced down at Hail's paw and a tiny frown crinkled his brow. "Gonna have to wrap that if yous was wantin' t' travel anytime soon. Otherwise ya ain't goin' very far..."

Regret? Hail knew what the word meant but she didn’t think she’d ever felt that kind of emotion before. She hoped she never would. Being around Razor made her happy. He took time for her when others just left frustrated only succeeding in confusing her more. What was Razor saying about her paw? Wrap it? “How do I do that?” She looked from her paw to him not really sure how to proceed.

"Tch." Razor stared back at the forest over his shoulder for a moment, then out at the ocean. "Cloth's strongest, but if we don' got that we gotta look for a plant." He glanced down at Hail's box, then back up at her. "You ain't got anything we c'n use, do yous?"

Plants. Yes she had several of those in her box. But they were all petals. She shook her head no. “will this work?” She brought her tail forward displaying her silver tail ribbon. It wasn’t a plant but she thought that it might work to wrap her paw. She looked at Razor with a smile. It felt strange on her face, but she thought it was something socially appropriate for this time. She was looking forward to following Razor.
