Erm, my question isn't really about a bass, but a bass amp. Any ideas on what brand is the best for not alot of money? I'm just getting one for practicing at home and with my friends in a garage. And possibly just some school events, so I know it needs to be a bit powerful. I was looking at this one because I've heard some good things but I still need some advice sweatdrop

Peavy is great and expensive, and ampg is the best but rediculously priced I suggest brousing around a little.

And if all you want to do are small little gigs and such its just right for it...Its not the best amp, so you will want a better one later but its simple and it does what it needs to.

I've had my eyes on a Jaguar for some time now, but none of the local shops have them (at least none within 100 miles of me, no kidding), so I've never actually had a hands on with one of these sweet looking bass guitars. One shop, in a mall, I went to had a Zone bass with a PJ pickup set, but I told the guy at the price it was at, I'd rather have a Jaguar. He told me I wouldn't like the pickups on the Jaguar, so I've been on Musician's Friend a good number of times and read all the reviews to see what other had to say, but I still want something a little more comprehensive from someone who owns it or has used it. Even if the pickups are trash, I can always replace them with these right? I was also thinking about switching the bridge out for Leo Quan's. Here's the Jaguar from Musician's Friend. Here's a little background information on myself, which might help you help me: I've been playing for almost three years now, I've been having some interest in playing funky stuff, much like Tetsu or Flea, but my problem is that my bass on a higher watt amp makes everything sound like just one long and ugly bass note. I'm hoping upgrading to an active electronic will help, so if anybody has any suggestions other than the Jaguar I'm willing to listen. As far as budget goes, I'm not completely set for it yet, but it's just something I've been considering for some time.

I'm thinking about getting an Ibanez 5-string. Is that a good lasting brand that will last me until the end of the world? I don't ever plan on selling it or anything, and I don't want to have to repair it a lot.
Also, I want to know.. Does Ibanez have good sound quality?

Well this is my personal opinion but I love Ibanez. I bought my guitar about two years ago and not one thing has gone wrong with my bass. And I love the nice deep sound it gives. Hope that helped. biggrin

Ibanez basses range from horribly wrong to well-built. It really depends on the model. The sound quality on the higher-end models isn't bad, especially if you want to play metal.

Ouch, you see that's what scares me. I'm so tired of buying cheap instruments and just dealing with their insuffientcies.. stare This is the one I want; It's an Ibanez SR (SR405QMCNB). Basswood body/Quilted maple top. The frets are medium and it's got an Accu-cast B25 bridge. Five strings, for 449.99$.I'm excited, even if I am waaay over cautious. Ever since I first saw this guitar hanging in my local shop, I knew someday it would be mine. Now after all kinds of research, I think this is the bass for me.

Jaguar's are nice man, they have the same pickups as a jazz bass, and stuff its a nice bass to have it you can afford it usually around five or six hundred bucks. I've played one a few times its close to a J bass, just a lot more switchs, I like those swiches but if you don't like them don't get it.
