oooooooooooooooooooooohhhhh I love the book " The Biology of Transcendence" by Joseph Chilton Pearce. It ish beautimus heart but be careful because certain parts move a bit slow. Though he does give good ideas on certain things, such as a interesting theory on the male and female parts of the brain.

Fiction or Non Fiction?
Until I get a response, it's under Non Fiction (just so I don't forget to add it to the list).

I don't know how interesting this book might be to anyone else, but it's something i've taken a liking to. the author has a very unique way of comparing various cultures and civilizations. He shows their differences and similarities as categorized by what sort of region or climate they appeared in. It's a sort of story about how the world shapes and molds us as a people, not the other way around. pretty groovy stuff smile

Haha! Procured House of Leaves FINALLY!
It took a bit to locate it though...because I managed to forget the author's name. Then my friend Keith spotted a book called "1001 Books To Read Before You Die". We were flipping through it, reached the books after 2000 and POOF! House of Leaves! And Behold! The author's name! (Which, mind you, I'd forgotten) And then I turned around, knelt down and there it was! I was so excited. Not to mention, I had the money to buy it too because Keith had bought a painting from me earlier. Mwhahahah *ahem* Yeah....

Oh, I love Discworld! You'll eventually swing back to a serious book, honest!
I thought I knew it. And didn't realize I was wrong until I was at the bookstore. Heh.

Well no one's posted here in a while, but I thought I'd mention Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn. Techncially it's fiction, but it's a very good book about humans as a whole.

I thought I'd poke in here with my recommendations.
Marx's Concept of Man by Erich Fromm Marxism & Freedom: From 1776 until Today by Raya Dunayevskaya The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory by Carol J. Adams Feminism is for Everybody by bell hooks is a good primer on feminism, but I took serious issue with the way she addressed (or failed to address) issues of capitalism and queer rights.

Beyond Good and Evil and The Anti Christ by Friedrich Nietzsche (incredible writer, great delivery and style of writing)
Existentialism and Humanism by Jean-Paul Sartre (short but very interesting)
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis (kinds gross, but interesting)
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists by Robert Tressel (turn of the century working class novel, very powerful)

I've seen the American Pyscho movie and I loved it. Granted, I really like Christian Bale, but still.
