"Uh..." Vera said, blushing. I seem to be saying that a lot these days...oh well ^^; she thought as she shook her head at Aurora's confident tone. "Oh, you know...dragon, b***h, hoarding..." she commented airily as she sat down at the table, staring at the lights glinting off the gold and jewels. "Hmm...?" Lost in thought, it took her a moment to remember Aurora's question. "I don't know if you know him, since I didn't have him since I was here... His name's Ozora, Japanese and Chinese teacher...or was it just Japanese? You wouldn't BELIEVE what he is, and who's my dad..." she commented, feeling a bit smug that she was at LEAST on the same level, if not higher, than Aurora status wise now. Surprised at her reaction she squashed it to a puddle, remembering that status had no real meaning among friends, even if it made her feel better she wasn't so inferior. I'm only HALF though, so that's that Miss Silversoul she thought sternly, waiting for the food to finish. It was weird, she hadn't been used to "human food" and pre-processed stuff, but she LOVED macaroni and cheese, even going so far to stock the fridge and freezer with more cheese than any other person would stuff it with. Vera didn't even go with just cheddar, she also had Jarlsberg, Swiss, American, Mozzarella, Ricotta and Cottage Cheese in there.

"Hello, I'm Aurora Solindo.
Care To Dance?"

Setting the macaroni into bowls, she continued to listen to Vera's explanations and statements. It seemed that a lot seemed to have occured recently enough; as her most recent letter was months old and mentioned nothing of this. Her brow raised at the mention of a teacher, but it quickly settled to resolve as she spoke. "How long have you known him?" she questioned, wanting to be sure that her friend was safe with her feelings. Her face settled into its usual curiousity when she heard Vera mention her father, causing a pause in her actions as she poured cheese along the pasta. "Dad?" she questioned softly, assuming that this was one of the newest, or technically oldest, memories she'd recieved. Not wanting to upset the girl, she remained quiet, allowing her to answer or ignore as she pleased.

Vera shook her head as Aurora did her weird thing to the noodles. The half-elf always followed the instructions about mixing them all together in one pot, but whatever; tasted the same. "Enh, I had never met the guy until he came into the library while I was looking something up. Then my father...my adoptive one...came and we had a chat. Turns out he had JUST discovered I was supposed to be betrothed though they didn't know who. And I will have a brother...um, adoptive again...come to "guard" me and make sure my betrothed is suitable. THAT ought to be fun..." she muttered into her pasta with a doubtful look when it was handed to her. Eating silently for a moment, she ate it quicker than she would have normally, used to eating on the run after not feeding herself at a constant rate. She had gotten used to eating two meals a day; right after waking and in the middle of the day before she had homework and then went to bed. Waking up and shaking her head, Vera looked at Aurora with an amused quirk to her lips. "Yeah, my dragon daddy..."

Sighing, she leaned back in the chair, looking up at the ceiling as she thought about how to tell Aurora what she had learned. "Knowing who he was...is...is new since I never knew who my parents were. Still don't know who my mother was, though it seemed like he and the teacher know each other from a loooong time ago if I remember things correctly." Frowning slightly, Vera tried to bring forward to mind the pertinent information. "What do you know of Easter Guardians, over the kings of Asia? Like China, Japan, Mongolia maybe even India...?" she asked softly, looking over at Aurora to watch the siren's reaction to her question while Vera worked on her bowl of cheesy pasta in a slower fashion.

(no, NOT gods....only guardians, a level or two below gods, as it was somewhat-touchily explained to Vera lol)

"Hello, I'm Aurora Solindo.
Care To Dance?"

Wiping her hands on a paper towel absently, a look of concern passed her features as she listened to Vera's explanation of her bethrothed. It sounded awfully formal, which was the least she'd expected away from home; yet, she could see that her friend appeared to be excited, and Aurora would allow her to be so as long as she was truly happy. Besides, it seemed a guard woud be sent to ensure such. "I would be happy to help the boy." She smiled sweetly at the suggestion, trying not imagine what would happen if it was deemed that her fiancee was unsuitable.

Placing a bowl in front of the girl with a fork, she sat on the opposite end of their kitchenette table, a mouthful of macaroni already in her mouth. Chewing, she let Vera continue, which almost caused her to choke as she realized what was being said. Her father was a dragon? That would explain a bit...but what did it matter if she knew of Guardians? "Not much. Except that the current King of the Indian Sirens is 'supposedly' decended from one." She tooke another forkful, only to reach a conclusion immediately after. Chewing and swallowing quickly, she spoke again, her voice rising in the middle with excitement. "You don't mean...your father is one?"

Vera couldn't help but quirk a smile at Aurora's reaction. Nodding slowly, she got up to grab a spoon so she could eat the rest of the cheese sauce after all the noodles were gone. Sitting down again, she nodded slowly. "Apparently there are five Guardians that were made to watch the earliest Oriental Emperors and whatnot. Not quite "old as time" but still easily in the B.C. range," she explained, quoting the phrase with a sarcastic roll of her eyes. "If what little I was told is true, he's one of THE first dragons. In my clan...adoptive one...he's called the Great Dragon, but apparently there's another one. Since I have been told he was quite...prolific...with the other one." Making a face, Vera finished her macaroni quickly and scraped the bowl with the spoon to look at Aurora in thought, spoon stuck in her mouth. The blue in her eyes was quite clear now, like a darkening gem towards her pupil from the outside of the silver iris gaining a blue hue close to the middle. Shaking her head as she thought about it, Vera shrugged. "None of my business, but I can only speculate that if they WERE the original dragons, that all dragons came from them. Like Adam and Eve in the human Bible. Or at least, the most powerful ones when made, but either way, I apparently have an extremely LARGE family now because of his...attentions." Sighing, Vera rubbed at her face. "I think I'm going back to the library to do some more research, see just HOW old he is...my father, I mean. Although, seems like he and Ozora have quite a history. Oh yeah, the teacher's one too...but not a dragon. He's like a tiger, and he controls wind better than I do..."

Standing, Vera put her dish in the sink and washed the stuff she used, head down in thought. "He might not have said they were the first dragons, since I know there are various kinds, so I need to see if there's any public records of originating points of dragon species... I doubt there are any Family Line books, though that would be handy... What a confusing family reunion that would be. Uncles that are also Grandparents or Cousins depending on when he entered the bloodline agan..." Vera looked at Aurora tiredly. "You must be tired, sorry. We will catch up tomorrow, it's saturday. I think I need to take a visit to the Library again, see what I can find while I remember the questions I have." Moving over, she gave Aurora a strong hug. "I am SO glad you're back..." she muttered, head touching the siren's. Smiling at Aurora, Vera turned and grabbed the collar to go to her room. Finding a pouch there she thought she remembered, she raised an ironic eyebrow as she couldn't resist running a finger down the gold and jewels. "So shiny..." the half-elf sighed, placing the thing carefully in the pouch, which she then made sure stayed tightly secured to her belt. "There...I have accepted it as a gift, but am not showing it off. Yet. There's something weird about it, other than the word.... I want to make sure there's nothing magical that can harm me before I actually WEAR it. Besides, I don't have anything that would work with it. Well, I guess if I had a full dragon form that would work, but enh... I will ask about it." So deciding, Vera looked around her room, already imagining how she would show off her goodies. Grinning, Vera hummed a tune to herself as she closed her bedroom door, a habit that had carried over even though she had been alone this whole time, to head to the library. "Maybe you should come with...meet him?" she suggested to Aurora with a tilt to her head, expression neutral.

"Hello, I'm Aurora Solindo.
Care To Dance?"

It was alot for her to take in at once, but that made her realize much more stressful it must be on her friend's shoulders. "That's so strange." she murmered, her thoughts taking over most of her mind at the moment. To think of Vera as the child of such a legend was interesting, and she wondered how this would affect the girl's life. She was to be married eventually, that was something normal and comprehensible to the siren; but she mentioned that he was a guardian as well. Imagining something older than her grandparents was a weird feat, especially when that something was the first of dragons centuries earlier. As she thought, she tried to multi-task and listen to Vera's explanation of where she would be going soon, and why. It was the hug that broke her free of her curiousity and worries, causing another of her bright smiles to appear that evening. She would always be happy to know this girl, no matter how confusing things could get. "I'm happy too." She finished off her own meal as the dragon-elf went to her room, then carefully scraped off both dishes in the sink. Setting the bowls in the washer, she glanced up as Vera returned, this time extending what Aurora assumed was an invitation. She considered the idea, and her first reaction was to bounce over and accept. But this was the fiancee of her friend, and she wanted to be able to grill him properly, which would be rather difficult when it was getting late. "I think I would like to meet him over a lunch sometime." he stated sweetly, her expression turning into one of false innocence. "So that I can be wide awake and able to interrogate him throughly."

Smiling, Vera nodded, her lips quirked in amusement. "Don't forget to invite me, I will want to see that~!" she commented as she head out. Giving the siren another hug, stronger than she normally would and almost too tight due to her not realizing quite yet her strength had increased, Vera tilted her head against Aurora's in a dragon-like expression of fondness. "I really did miss you...I'm glad you're back." Smiling softly, thoughts obviously taking her attention by her slightly unfocused eyes, Vera smiled again at Aurora before heading out to the library, her mind busy with a spinning variety of thoughts. She thought about what she could get...or make...for Aurora. She had had something in mind, but had never gotten around to. Maybe she could work on the pendent she was thinking of... Maybe Ozora could help, who knew.

Vera unlocked her door the next morning, and closed it before she was jumped by Ryuu. Falling with a loud THUMP Vera saw stars for a moment before she lifted her head to patiently pet the giant mountain lion's head reassuringly. "Don't worry, he was a gentleman...and some things have been cleared up and others re just more clouded, with more questions..." Sighing, Vera shoved Ryuu off, and brushed herself off as she went into the kitchen. Grabbing a pomegranate, Vera split it in half easily, eyes closed against the juice before she munched on the juicy seeds. Walking around, the half elf looked for her friend.

"Hello, I'm Aurora Solindo.
Care To Dance?"

Having spent most of her night unpacking, Aurora slept well into the morning, past her usual time of seven o'clock. When she heard the click and felt the sun's rays beat her eyelid mercilessly, she sat up. She yawned loudly as she stood, a hand rubbing away sleep from the corners of her eyes as she stumbled down the hallway; the mornings were always the rare times that she wasn't full of energy, and instead looked like she held none. "Vera?" she questioned as she found the living room couch to climb on to. "You were out late, huh?" Another yawn interrupted her next words, making them sound distorted, but they were along the lines of 'what time is it?'

Having heard Aurora making sounds in her room, the half elf just waited on the couch, smiling at the funny look of the siren trying not to fall asleep again. "I think it's around nine, I am not sure. And yes, I ended up staying out late. What would you like for breakfast? I would like to think I have become a better cook, without resorting to lazy box dinners all the time. Though I would make an exception for macaroni...that stuff's just too delicious to pass up." Smiling at Aurora, Vera leaned over to hug her friend. "Oh, which reminds me...the engagement is official." Blushing a bit, Vera looked at her feet as she stuck her legs out, hands together demurely on her lap. Her ring would be visible on her hand, light streaming through the jade somewhat. "I'm heading to the park today to exercise Greator and Ryuu...you going to come with? I need to shower beforehand though, so don't fall asleep again before telling me what you want to eat!" Vera laughed at Aurora and her unintentional zombie impersonation. (heh, almost forgot... sweatdrop gosh darn it...lol)

"Hello, I'm Aurora Solindo.
Care To Dance?"

Dragging her head back up, she nodded to the time, and slowly sat up to answer the second question. "Waffles?" she asked, trusting Vera's statement of becoming a better cook. She leaned against the sofa's back after casually snapping up the remote to press the television's power button. She listened to the girl continue as she slipped along channels, trying to find something interesting enough to keep her awake. However, that may not be needed once she registered Vera's second statement. "What?" She turned quickly, popping up to lean over the couch's edge. Her eyes widened as they found the ring and a smirk crossed her lips as she noticed the blush. "Hmm, you must have been out much later than I thought." She flashed a brilliant grin before turning back to the t.v., answering the second question as she settled on a documentary of Vampires. "Oh~ I'd love to run. I'll need some way to stay in shape."

"AURORA....!" Vera protested from the kitchen, tone almost enraged as well as embarrassed. "You know I would NEVER sleep with a man unless we were married, and then odds are I would wait a while. You KNOW how I'm technically the prude..." she chastised her friend gently, as sounds were heard in the kitchen. "Now where did I put...hm, ah, there you are..." she muttered. Tossing together the pancake mix, some cinnamon and a few pieces of dried-up apple that rehydrated when it hit the mix, Vera also turned on a pan and started cooking eggs. "Sausage or bacon?" she asked, sending a spark of magic through the waffle maker to heat it up even faster. Grinning as she popped out waffles quicker than normal, she had a big plate set up, and rummaged in the fridge for some jam she had tried to can with mixed results, and some store-bought jam and syrup if Aurora wasn't feeling TOO adventurous.

Breakfast was ready in under half an hour, and Vera set the table and everything before poking her head around to talk to Aurora. "It's ready...orange juice or milk, or punch? I can make a quick batch of apple juice too, I have some of the frozen stuff..." the half-dragon offered, licking her fingers off and then wiping them on a towel she had over her wrist. When Aurora went into the kitchen, She would find three plates filled with waffles, and one with eggs and whichever meat she had chosen, as well as a pitcher of orange juice and the milkjug. Vera just grinned, since everything was warm and steaming, which the first waffles would have been cold after the first five minutes without being eaten, let alone with the amount of food and preparation she had done. "Being a dragon's handy...things stay warm if I glare at them hard enough ^^" Vera commented jokingly since she HAD used some of her magic to keep things going, a way she had learned to fine-tune her control as well as use it for less explosive things that didn't require as much boom and force.

"Hello, I'm Aurora Solindo.
Care To Dance?"

Laughing of Vera's indignance, she simply continued to face the television as it played. "Um, bacon!" she answered brightly as she remembered just how long it'd been since she'd had the food; the court had an overfondness of depriving meat unless it was seafood. Allowing the elf to continue cooking without any more insuendos, she instead went back to her room to dress and wash up for the day.

Before thirty minutes passed, she could smell the rich aroma of waffles wading from the kitchen, with brought the siren back quickly. "It look great~" she exclaimed, almost skipping to the fridge to retrive orange juice. "Oi, let me at least do something so you can rest." she mentioned as she grabbed a glass and poured the liquid into it. Sliding the container back into its place, she sat down as she spoke. "It's even better to have one as a friend." She flashed another grin before taking a large bite of her bacon.

Vera shrugged as Aurora took the pitcher from the table and stuck it back in the fridge as well as getting a glass. Pouring a huge cup of milk for herself, Vera went ahead and served herself some of the hearty breakfast, even though she had eaten at Ozora's earlier; she burned a lot of energy, and so she tried not to eat a lot when she could help it and this helped her stay practically skinny...and if they were going to the park, she wanted to have food to burn. "I don't mind...and you only like it because it keeps down the bills. Did you know, for example, that the temp in the place is only supposed to be about 60 now? But with me and Greator in here, having lived here a while and in here almost all the time...at least on weekends...it bumps it up?" Grinning at her friend, Vera munched on bacon calmly, eyes calm and amused at the siren. "And for electricity...which, by the way, I can control now...all I need to do is zap something when I need to use it, though the TV's still plugged in. Fun to use it to try to scry, though I haven't practiced that much." Eating one of her funkier jams that was a mix of raspberry, blackberry and strawberry, with her cinnamon/apple waffles, Vera gestured at them with her fork. "I tried making jams too. But I have some strawberry and blackberry jams from the store if you're concerned with trying my experiments. And syrup, of course...but watch out, it's REALLY strong and sticky. I got it as a gift from some group-or-other doing trade or diplomacy or somethin' up in the mountains, so it's REALLY rich, it's the REALLY good stuff." To emphasize her warning, Vera only took a small spoonful for her four waffles, spreading it over all of them...and Aurora might remember Vera's grown taste for sugar, as well as her high tolerance for it.
