A familiar voice caught his attention, as did an hand taking his. Only three would have done that, and it was evident which of the three it was.

"Fine." He looked at Painite, but he looked anything but fine. His eyes looked like they were holding back tears. Overall, one might compare the corrupted senshi of eclipses to a kicked puppy. "Im... fine."

Denial, not a river in Egypt. Maybe if he said it enough, he'd believe it. "I... shouldn't be here." He whispered. "I might have helped this happen, and... I might never know for sure."

It was like being stabbed in the chest, kind of.

He blinked suddenly at the bright light that was beginning to light up the tunnels after walking in darkness for so long. Alkaid was invisible to him now unless he turned to look at her, which was hard to do as the group began to spiral down and had to carefully watch their step. Her aura was lost in the crowd, and quickly becoming overshadowed by something entirely different and more powerful than their entire group combined. Something coming from below them, something they were walking toward.

He listened to the story passively. It was a war story, of people fighting against the senshi a long time ago. It was the same story they had already been living, but on a grander scale. Except, of course, Queen Serenity hadn't yet descended from the sky to curse them all like she had the army before them, reduce them to what lay in wait on the other side of those crystal walls. His eyes caught sight of a nearby senshi, Spinel, uncertainly for a moment, and then returned to the silhouette of the General-Queen's wings. There was a reason he didn't like the idea of senshi walking so freely among their ranks. It was a mistake for them to turn their back on the enemy.

The city was a ruin and it was overrun with youma. Hematite had seen youma before. Everyone had seen youma before. They had little in the way of intelligence, they were monsters that had always been sent to fight and die for the Negaverse as more expendable than the decidedly more human soldiers for years now. They couldn't possibly be human any longer, except in Tanzanite's story, in their mythical past. Was that the lesson in all this? A warning?

Hematite surveyed their home, and it was nothing but the echoes and memories of another time.

He didn't even try and hide the flicker of shock that ran across his face, lighting up the pale blue of his eyes very nearly like the spires around them, a growing awe that swept in after, he stood, if anything straiter. His shoulders squaring as he fumbled for the words to say...

The shock and the honor of it, even swept away the questions regarding yoma that had crept dangerously close to the end of his tongue.

"I am...honored General-Queen, I will do my best to bring new life to that room, to do you and them proud, for their sacrifice, and the good of us all..."
His voice almost cracked, hoarse with the emotions he was choking back in the interest of dignity.

His eyes turned back to that distant window, a fire kindled deep inside them with ideas, plans... oh yes. Yes... he knew where he would begin.

Painite did not like kicked puppies. They made her want to cuddle. She frowned at him knowingly, not accepting his offer of being 'fine'.

"Hey," she shook her head, still gripping his hand as she wagged the other one at him. "You serve the same cause we do. You fight for us, you keep us safe, you have friends here. You are one of us. As far as I'm concerned, you're as much a part of the Negaverse, no matter what anyone else or what history says. You belong here, you wouldn't be here if you didn't."

She watched him with her clear, expressive sea green eyes for a long moment, wanting to drive her point home as best she could. She didn't blink, didn't look away: she was certain and would not flinch as she spoke.

"You don't know what you've done, and you don't have to. All that matters now is who you are and what you're doing. Anyway, I wouldn't want to be here if you weren't. So don't ruin this for me, okay?" She smiled at him, cracking a joke before she pulled him to her and hugged him tightly.

The words that tumbled out of Tanzanite’s mouth were foreign to Fukalite and the story she spun was just as odd. It was like hearing a bedtime story, except there was no happily ever after. She pursed her lips as she descended the stairway. Cautiously, Fukalite turned around to take another glance at the humanoid figures writhing behind the walls. At first she had looked upon them with fear and disdain, but now she could only feel pity and pride. Youma. They were no longer just a puzzling creature she would use, but they were warriors of the past, those who had fought and died for their kingdom.

Of all the things Fukalite could have imagined, she had not expected a full-blown underground city. She craned her neck towards the sky, admiring the towering grace of the buildings. “I feel like I’m in a fairytale, only without the sparkling rainbows and hearts. I’d puke at that.”

Home? She had a home—with her parents and her little sister. She had a home at St. Magdalena dorms and with her classmates. Neither were as magnificent and heartbreaking as the fallen capitol. Fukalite carefully tread the ground, half-afraid that the rock might crumble beneath her feet or one of the numerous guarding youma would jump out and scare her right then and there.

Alunite’s and Painite’s brief hugfest caught her attention. “Gotta second the captain over there. Stop raining on our parade and enjoy the moment. Don’t think too much on the past, okay? You're here for a reason.” She grinned.

Such a distraction as this place could not have come at a better time. It was something more comforting than his own personal life right now to think upon. These youma....had Bismuthite's rarely given respect, and his mind went back to his chess metaphor.

Finding a place to carefully seat thine a**, Bismuthite stared at the building, and thought. Aside from answering some of their questions, what was the purpose of showing them this place? Perhaps the undermine Beryl? If anyone had any respect for the queen before, would this help dislodge that? And if so, was that to be used to do away with what seemed to be a rather useless queen who was getting them no where? But..would Matallia have even allowed that? Why was Matallia even keeping Beryl around? Matallia had a much more capable figurehead in Tanzanite, much more respected, not to mention active. Beryl was useless.

"I... No, you're right." He kept a tight rein on his voice now. Even if it had been a joke, she was right - he couldn't ruin that moment for her.

So he had to smile, even if he didn't truly feel it. Her presence helped, a little, as did her warmth as her arms closed around him. He did nothing to make them go away.

No, right now he... needed this.

Mentioning the three letter word to Wolframite would have thrown him in a deep blush. For a boy who couldn’t even say it, usually referring to such activities as ‘this’, ‘that’, ‘ya know’, and ‘it’, having your commanding General, the one who was speaking to all your comrades and a few superiors of the Captain, as if he was going to be doing….that sorta stuff….here, only threw him in a deep embarrassment. But worse of all, it hurt. It stung deeply, and he glared at the General Queen for being so heartless. Never once did he speak back or in any harsh tone to Aree aside from huffing at her for not eating enough. This was far from that.

Glancing, he caught sight of Bismuthite leaving, and felt worse for it. They never……and he never………would never…

He glared acid green daggers from his one eye, but for what he lacked in two optics, he made up for in one searing gaze. “******** YOU, TANZANITE! LIKE I’D EVER DO THAT!” It certainly didn’t help lift off any of the attention from him, but she had been so crude as to glare at him when she said that that she more or less completely destroyed his reputation with others. Did everyone think he was some slut because he was with someone….Had been…

DAMNIT! ******** HER! Guess getting power made you a d**k!

Turning, Wolfarmite stormed off, the hard clack of his heels echoing on the crystal grounds as he headed off in the most vacant direction he could. Good thing this place was spacious and had plenty of places to go. As for Tanzanite’s warning about not wandering off. Well, he was saying ******** her advice too. Why the hell did he even leave bed for this?!

Painite smiled at Fukalite, winking at her appreciatively.

She looked at Alunite and knew he was just faking it. She held on to him not about to let him escape that easily. He needed to buck up, he had to accept that he was one of them now, and she hugged him again.

More than that, though, she just wanted him to be happy. She was just not one of those Negas that held a grudge against someone when that person didn't even know what they had done. And anyway, they were supposed to hunt Knights together.

She didn't stop hugging him, though. Closing her eyes, she took a breath and waited until she felt like enough time had slipped by. Pulling back, she looked at him again to check if his smile had changed from that forced look she had seen just before.

Bismuthite couldn't help but to be drawn from his reverie by the sudden loud exclamation. Such profanity coming from Wolframite? For all his learned composure, he couldn't help but stare a little wide-eyed. Bismuthite must have missed whatever Tanzanite said to piss him off. Then again, that wasn't hard to do lately. Even more so now, he supposed. That thought made his wide eyes turn away, and brows furrow.

It hurt. Everything since that evening had hurt. It hurt to have Wolframite, Ladon, so upset. Things hadn't turned out like he wanted, and it had been a horrible blow to the both of them. It might not have looked at it, looking at Bismuthite, but the boy hurt just as much as Wolframite. He simply had a lot more practice in...

Being fake.

Of course, that was never what he would call it. He believed his lies of grandeur. It was his personal truth, his looking glass self. That looking glass was a little cracked now but...he was trying to fix it.

Tanzanite smiled, “I have no doubt of that.” She gave Zinkenite's shoulder a light squeeze, before Wolframite's words rang in her skull like an alarm.

The General-Queen looked like she had just been slapped in the face. Her attempt at a joke had... what? Backfired? She didn't know enough about humor anymore to understand how terribly her attempt at it had failed. She just knew that of Wolframite's few buttons, she had apparently pressed the big red one that resulted in a nuclear meltdown. Brows rose and head tilted, confusion evident in her expression as she watched him storm off. Her expression remained calm, but every youma part of her seemed alive with tension.

Wings flared and spines flattened against the side of her neck. Tanzanite's feathers had been quite literally ruffled, and the battle between her human restraint and animal instinct was evident in the way her expression flashed between confusion and anger like a flickering lightbulb.

Were she Charonite, Wolframite likely would have been already lying in pieces across the floor. Thank goodness for all of them that she was not. However, it had been a long time since anyone had screamed '******** you” at her in front of... well. Pretty much every member of the Negaverse and an army of youma to whom she had a very strong connection. Snarls rose from the shadows in unison with her shifting expression, and the farther Wolframite got from the small group, the more of those glowing eyes seemed to turn on him.

As though he were a small animal, separated from the herd; an easy target.

“Excuse me for a moment,” she murmured to Zinkenite, forcing a small, tight-lipped smile. Her heels clicked loudly upon the stone as she strode purposefully off after the young Captain, who seemed to be on the fast track to getting himself killed.

There was no chance of outrunning the General-Queen, not that the Captain seemed likely to try.. Unlike Wolframite, her heels were a part of her, and she moved as naturally as she would have no bare feet. She didn't miss a step as she came up behind him, snatching him by the back of the neck and with a thought, teleporting the both of them well out of earshot.

The Joy and fire in his eyes was briefly overrun with -shock- at hearing Wolframite of all people utter those words...and to HER, but seeing the 'ruffle' pass over the General Queen, the flicker of emotions passing over her face and the answering -snarls- from the darkness around them, well.

Though with the Genera-Queen momentarily occupied with the curious fit, he did take a moment to turn back to share the fervant delight in his eyes with those around him, Familiar faces, trusted faces, oh yes... he hoped to see many of them in that War room with plans... oh so many plans.

Nyasa had been shucking out of her work uniform when she felt the tug. Soon enough she found herself standing in a dark cave, surrounded by fellow soldiers, but she was quick to note that Queen Beryl was not in attendance. That seemed unusual.

Soon the General-Queen was speaking, talking about making a choice. For a while, Lieutenant Mica was torn. Queen Beryl was the Queen, but she had seen precious little of her. As for the General-Queen… Mica had seen her in action, yes, and respected her power, but there was no love or friendship there. In the end, Mica went through the door with the rest, but only because she didn’t want to draw attention to herself by not following the General-Queen.

The story that was told was interesting, but unnecessary. To her, “right” and “wrong” were nebulous, and trying to define things as such was useless. All that really mattered was what got you ahead and what got you in trouble, and as far as Mica could tell, these stories of long-ago wars hadn’t affected those parameters yet.

Crossing her arms, Mica’s eyes swept over the castle and the many glowing eyes that stared out from it. Not her cup of tea that creepy thing, not with all the staring eyes and clinging shadows.

Mica was pulled out of her observations by Wolframite’s explosion, which made her eyebrow hitch up. It was amusing to hear bow-boy curse - at the General-Queen no less - so she rather hoped he hadn’t just signed his death warrant.

She stepped into the darkness with the others, telling herself to fear nothing. Tantalite had lost time to make up for and she was going to do just that; her reputation wouldn't be able to stand it if she didn't. She listened carefully as the General Queen spoke, trying to suck up every bit of information that was spieled out to the group.

She wanted to know it all for future reference. She needed to know it all.

Soon enough, their group came into an opening in the dark path they had plunged into.

It was both disturbing, yet beautiful. That was what Tantalite thought as she looked up at the castle that loomed over head in a sort of awe. It was large, majestic even. Definitely not a fairy-tale building, however. Not unless it belonged to someone like Maleficent.

She crinkled her nose. Clearly only the 'good' guys got such a nice castle, now didn't they?

Tantalite harrumphed a bit at the thought, but still had to admire the discovery that had been made. It felt mighty; they had a stronghold all of their own, now didn't they? She could feel a light smile tug at her features, though she quickly masked it;

She had a reputation to hold up.
