Riley cocked her head at his sudden calmness. She crawled back over to him. Riley lay down next to him, trying to see what he was "What's wrong?" Riley asked

Kenny looked at Riley. "Oh nothing. I just realized its really peaceful out here thats all," he said looking at the clouds swirl and glide by in the sunlit sky.

Riley was soaking wet, though she didn't feel like drying herself off. She stared at the sky, like him, and listened to the animals, she could probably hear a lot more than him, since her super hearing. She could even hear his heartbeat. Suddenly she was very calm too, even sleepy. Now she felt to tired to even clean the water off of her. The wind slightly blew, rustling the big oak tree's leaves. Squirrels chirped at each other playfully, and the stream bubbled by musically. "it is peaceful." Riley agreed, closing her eyes, listening to the creatures around her. She never let her guard down like this. Well besides now.

Kenny let out a sigh of relaxation. "I wish the palace were more like this," he breathed.

"Its not always like this, its more relaxing with you here." Riley blurted before she could stop herself, her eyes snapped open, seeing if he'd noticed her mix up, her cheeks flushed a soft pink.

Kenny smiled and sat up. He had heard Riley loud and clear. As he sat up he put his hand on her hand, but left it there. He looked at her in the eyes. She was very beautiful. Out all the years Kenny had been alive he'd never felt like this before.

"Uh, i mean, like its easier to relax because there's another person, cause i trust you, and um.." Riley gave up, looking away from him, but feeling the warmth of his hand, almost as warm as her cheeks right now.

Cole sat silently in a tree shrugging off another days rest.He jumped down after a moment and squinted at the sun he walked along the creek kickin a stone or two,he caught their scent's two vampires.Cole moved quietly hoping they would not pay him any attention and when he felt a good distance away he got down on his knees and splashed cool water onto his face and took a drink.

Kenny smiled. Riley was just about as bashful as he was. He turned Riley's face back toward his. Kenny still smiled at her as he gazed into her eyes. Her beautiful eyes. "No need to be embarrassed," he whispered.

Riley felt a tingling on her cheek where Kenny's hand touched, and turned her face. Even though their heads were close, Riley didnt want to turn away actually she wanted to get closer. Is this love? Riley asked herself Impossible, though I've never felt anything like this before. This is crazy! I do not fall in love, i'm tough, a loner, not a gooey, romantic. Though suddenly footsteps assaulted her ears, and she snapped her head around. Kenny hadn't noticed it, but her hearing was way more acute. Then splashing came from the River down Stream. "Theres someone around here." Riley said alarmed, her calmness gone.

Kenny snapped his head into the direction where Riley said there was a noise. Though he was upset that whoever was making that noise interrupted his and Riley's moment, Kenny was stil curious about he noise He got up and held his hand out to help Riley. "Let's go check it out," he said.

This has to stop now! I cant fall in love! It only brings pain, and heart break. With a new Resolve, Riley stood up on her own, ignoring Kenny's hand, even though it was a friendly gesture. "Okay." She said simply. "Its over here." Riley said, and then was silently walking down by the stream. She hid in the woods once she could see a dot in the distance where the person was. She approached hidden by the trees. He turned to Kenny "Its nothing, he doesn't know we are here. Lets keep it that way, okay?" Riley said. "Lets go somewhere farther away from him until he leaves." Riley says.

Kenny shrugged and stuck his hands in his pockets. What had just happened? A few minutes Riley was gazing into his eyes like the moment was perfect now she was completely avoiding his gaze. Kenny sighed. He should've known. Why would anyone really love him? He shook it off. This wouldn't ruin his first friendship. "Yeah let's get out of here," Kenny said turning the other way.

Riley nodded, and then traveled a long distance away with Kenny. "Wait Kenny." Riley said stopping herself "Were just friends right?" Riley asked seriously.

Kenny looked at Riley. Then she asked him the question. Every molecule of him wanted to scream no, but he smiled. "Yeah just friends nothing more," he said. "Now how about we get back to your cabin and I can inspect it to see what type of wood I should bring tomorrow."
