Ah, as she helped him walk she did notice that something was off. He was a big male, he should weigh more than this. She wanted to help, but... he was probably doing this for a reason. Besides, if she collapsed while carrying him then they would be vulnerable. She might as well just accept the fact he was making himself weigh less.
Once she had spotted a cave, she gently brought him to it, setting him down, and nodded. "Bedding." Ah, she spoke, again. She didn't want him to think she was running away as she began to leave the cave.

Takashi nodded. "Careful," he said after her, deep voice rough with fatigue and worry. He watch her go, gold eyes following her until she was out of sight. He tried to relax, for it was easier to heal if you weren't always tense, but until Aiken returned he did not drift off to sleep.
He seemed to be doing that a lot, lately, even though he knew it good for his body to rest.

When she returned she noticed Takashi hadn't slept, yet, and frowned. Dropping leaves and soft material she had recently found she began to make a bed just for Takashi, paused, and then made it just a little bigger. Of course....she didn't want him to get cold. Yeah. That was the reason.
When she was done she jerked her head towards the bedding, stopped, and moved to him. She seemed to be thinking. This was a wasted action, she wasn't one to do those things, but still... She wanted to. So, she leaned down, licked his cheek affectionately, and helped him get up to move him to the bed, tail wagging faintly.

From just that one, simple action Takashi felt his heart swell so much that it felt like it would burst out of his chest. Though neither never spoke, neither ever really seemed to make obvious overtures to another to symbolize friendship or affection. They just were, and how they had managed like this for as long as they had would be a mystery baffling the mind of scholars for a generation or three.
Takashi allowed Aiken to lead him to the bed that she had made, but rather than sink down on his own he lightly pressed his legs against the joint of her own legs, then, with his weight still leaning on her, let himself collaspe with the intent to take her down with him. He didn't think Aiken would allow herself any rest otherwise, and this method of falling would have her half-land on him so that she didn't hurt herself in the unexpected fall.

She did fall, causing her to make a small sound of surprise. When she fell half on Takashi she looked at him with an expression that clearly said an apology, squirming away to not harm him, and then pressing into his side lightly, content where she was. With this, she rested her head on his side, tail flicking side to side.
She wanted to meet his family and she firmly doubted he could understand that without words. So, experimenting with using words again, she cleared her normally unused throat. Only him seemed to get this reaction from her.
"Can I meet....your family?"

He and Aiken landed exactly how he had planned; even the way she had snuggled up to him after rearranging herself was exactly how he hoped things would turn out. He lightly nuzzled the spot where Aiken's back met her neck then began grooming her in the spots that were hard to reach, using his teeth to gentle pull away tangles and smoothing the fur with his tongue.
When Aiken voiced her question he paused, looking up and making a noise of inquery in the back of his throat. Meet his family?
Takashi pondered for a moment. He knew where his parents lived, they had settled there before he and his sibs had been born so they'd have a place to raise their children. His blue/gray grandmother he hadn't seen since he was a baby, and he had no idea where she might be now. His other grandparents he'd never met; apparently they were both part of tribes, different ones.
His siblings were just as scattered as his grandparents. He knew Peri was out traveling somewhere. When he'd left his other sibs had been doing the same, though it was entirely possible they could have returned to their childhood home to spend time with Mom and Dad. It wasn't like they cut all ties with their parents after they'd grown, after all.
Taking all this into consideration, while Takashi wasn't sure if he could introduce Aiken to all his family at once, at least he'd be able to find some of them. He nodded in response to her question, nuzzling her neck again and then resuming his ministrations to her fur.

There was silence, which she was used to. Allowing her back to be groomed by her mate. Whapping him with her tail she looked up at the male, licked his cheek, and sighed.
Well, if she met his family did she have to talk more? Probably, though she'd probably try and hide behind Takashi for a bit. He was quiet yet she doubted he came from a quiet family, the quiet ones rarely did.
Hmmmmm. And what if they had kids? Oh, another new topic to think about.

Takashi smiled in amusement at the wack of the tail. He knew just on attitude alone Aiken would get along with his family, and it wasn't like they'd never had to deal with someone who only gave monosyllabic answers whenever possible. Doubtless they'd find it amusing, though he wasn't sure why they would, and would chatter enough for him and Aiken both.
Suddenly a thought occured to Takashi along the same vein of family. "What about yours," he asked, looking at Aiken and suddenly worried. She'd never mentioned family. Was it cause they wouldn't have approved of him?

Aiken paused in her thoughts, looking over at Takashi. Her....family? This was something she could never explain without words so it wasn't surprising that he would eventually ask, though never less it did shock her. She hadn't thought about it for a long time, nor had she ever had to explain it.
"My mother died during child-birth." She whispered, probably the longest sentence she had said in months. "Her friend raised me." She added as almost as if it was an after thought, her tail flicking side to side. "He taught me to sing, and though people were astonished by my voice he grew very irritated by me because I had a hard time expressing emotion through it. He was like a father, but his anger became disgust and he left me while I slept to find a singer who had both talent and emotion to share."
She didn't seem to show emotion during her little speech, though inwardly she was shaken. Ah, this was how she had truly become alone, how she had become the vixen that hated socializing and grew stiff when others tried to talk to her. This was how she had stopped singing for show and become a mute, expressionless fox that preferred solitude. That is, until she met Takashi.

Takashi carefully supressed the shiver of rage he felt, schooling his face into a blankness that matched his mate's. It would do no good to get upset at this male, whoever he was, for he was far away and untouchable. He certainly didn't want Aiken to think he was mad at her for any reason!
Perhaps it was because he could relate to Aiken, for he and she were alike in many ways. Neither talked much, and when they did their voices feel towards being monotone. There were no obvious reasons why they did this, no major traumas or real reasons. It's just the direction that felt natural to them. That male just couldn't understand the nature of a quiet and hidden soul, and just the thought of anyone trying to make another go against their nature threatened to bring back the anger Takashi had supressed.
He turned his to to a different thought to distract himself. "My family wanders a lot. It will take time to find them all." He smiled a little. "They will all shower your ears will speech and make valiant attempts to talk you to death."

Watching her silent mate for a brief minute the vixen nodded. Why did she feel like he was hiding something? Either way she still didn't question it, she had no real evidence anyway.
Turning to look once more at Takashi her tail flipped, noticing his smile. It surprised her slightly, he was far more capable of showing a smile then she was. Perhaps she could learn from him? Perhaps she could figure out how he did it so when she met his family she could present them with a small smile.
"Will you teach me how to show my feelings?"

Takashi leaned forward and lightly poked his mate with his nose. "I cannot teach that, it comes from within. Watch me when you feel you need direction. Do not be afraid." He gave Aiken a reassuring nudge. "There is no correct or incorrect response, just you being you."
He had no doubt that if Aiken started tuning in more to her emotional side it would be a bit rough the first few moments. It would probably be frustrating to her, not knowing which emotion the situation called for or what expression to make. And that was fine, it just meant that she would have to learn as she went and figure these things out until they became instinctive. It would probably be quite adorable to watch, actually...

Ah, that wasn't quite the answer she wanted. Scrunching her nose when it was poked she pawed at his own, flipping her tail to whap him on the side of the fact gently. The robotic female was frustrated a little, this was true despite her exterior appearance. Hm. Wait, frustrated. That meant frowning right? Lowering of the eyebrows, a frown, wrinkles along the forehead. Sometimes holding of the head or the violent flicking of a tail.
Though, perhaps she would worry about this later, right now she was more concerned about learning about her mates family. "Who is named who in your family?"

Takashi tilted his head. "My father is Mercury, and my mother is Amaidi. My brothers are Tamaki, Chronos, and Hermes. My sisters are Peri and Anatola." He paused and quirked an eyebrow in a questioning manner. He had a pretty big family, not only through his maternal grandparents but through his adopted paternal grandmother as well. Peri knew all about their family, being interested in family trees, and since he didn't talk much she liked to tell him about it.
Oh course Aiken probably only wanted to know about immediate family, and though Takashi wouldn't mind going into more detail he still wasn't so used to talking to just launch right into it.

Nodding softly, Aiken rested her head on Takashi's shoulder, content where she was and not planning to move anytime soon. Eyes flicking up at Takashi she almost asked if his family were welcoming, though did it matter? Nothing would drive her away from Takashi except Takashi himself.
Nodding, she didn't remember if she had asked this question or not. "You are a traveller...right?" She asked, eyes flicking upwards. "Where shall we travel next?" She almost asked if they could travel immediately to his family but stopped. No, she wanted to prepare herself and learn more things first.
