"Huh...a hand to hand fighter..." Zane said as he turned around and began walking away. Right about now it was probably time for him to either check more of the island or head over to the cafeteria to grab something to eat.

The woman headed back into the garden. It was quickly starting to become her new favorite spot. With a light sigh, she found a secluded spot and sat down on the soft grass. Feeling utterly alone, she laid the violin case beside her and relaxed on the grass with her arms behind her head.

Jasper Kurogane Jasper grabbed his book, and began reading the next skill for the stage he was at. It seemed to be a sort of defensive technique, which could be useful, though Jasper doubted that he would be using it much in the future. He read how it was performed, and carefully studied the diagrams provided with the definition. If this was anything like the other technique, it would be quite simple, which he was hoping for. [1/5] The "Knight's Shield" seemed like a very basic defense to Jasper. He just connected the tips of his elbow and his knee together, to create a shield like defense in front of him. It was very simple, and Jasper began to perform the technique with his right side. After a few repeats of this, he soon realized that this may not be enough to learn the skill well. [2/5] Just to make sure, and keep his body equaled out, Jasper performed a few reps of the Knight's Shield defense with his left side, just in case it ever came up in a combat situation. But it was obvious that he would need different methods to train this skill, especially if it ever came up in a combat situation. Jasper sighed. His location provided very little in the way of training supplies, but he had made do before. Jasper found a nice thin sapling, and he had an idea. This could potentially help for training. [3/5] Jasper took the sapling. It was nice and thin, and very bendable. He took the one end of the sapling, and stuck it in the ground, away from him. Jasper moved in front of the sapling again. He watched as the tip slipped out of the dirt slowly but surely, and as it almost came out, Jasper formed the Knight’s shield with his right side. The sapling came up out of the dirt, and snapped back towards Jasper, hitting his defense technique. [4/5] ”Ouch!” Jasper said out loud. That was a lot more painful than he had originally expected it to be. Jasper had a nice red mark on his right knee and elbow. But he just kept going with the training. He had to stay strong and stubborn if he was going to learn anything here. He put the sapling back in the ground, and performed the defense again. He then did it a few times with his left side. Jasper was confident he could perform the skill now. [5/5]

After sitting alone for a while. Amara got up and decided to head to the library. She needed to pick out a good book and pick up another one on a style she wanted to learn. No time like the present.

Jasper Kurogane Jasper turned back and looked at his book. The next technique that he had to learn was known as the Elephant Kick. At first, by looking at the diagrams, it seemed like a normal roundhouse kick. What was so unique about this skill? Jasper kept wondering as he read on in the book. [1/5] From what he read, Jasper discerned that there was a few things that seperated this technique from a normal skill. First off, Jasper had to fully extend his leg while he kicked, for more power. Secondly, he had to hit with the bottom of his shin, rather than his foot. This was also a kick the was aimed to be at the head or the torso, so he would have to work on flexibility. [2/5] Jasper began to kick at the air, to work on his flexibility. He started with his right foot, doing roundhouse kicks in the air. He aimed to be kicking as strong as he could. Once Jasper had felt he had done enough reps he switched legs and kicked with the other foot. [3/5] Jasper now moved to find a nice, big tree. It was dense enough to take the strain of his hits, and didn't have any hazards like branches. It was a very tall and sturdy pine tree. Jasper approached it in his fighting stance, and launched a high kick with his back leg, slamming into the tree with his shin. He then dropped to the ground, hugging his knee. That hurt a lot more than it should of. Jasper could tell this training session would not be as easy as the others. [4/5] Jasper continued to kick the tree with his right shin, ignoring the pain. It said in the book eventually his nerves would deaden and his bone would heal up and become stronger. He couldn't wait for the day that happened. Jasper switched to his left shin, wincing at the pain. After a ample amount of reps there, He picked up his book and left the garden. Enough Muay Thai training for now. [5/5] [exit]

Jasper Kurogane Jasper walked back to his spot in the gardens. To his delight, it was basically exactly how he left it. Jasper unpacked his duffel bag. He took out his water bottle and took a swig of it. Jasper looked around and eventually found his book on Muay Thai. He turned to the page on stage one techniques. He only had one move left! He was close to completely mastering this stage. [1/5] Jasper scanned through his book. The final skill was known as Shock Club. It involved turning around quickly, so that you rotated behind the foe, then hit them as hard as you could with your elbow. Jasper started out by just performing simple elbow strikes on the tree he used for Elephant kick. [2/5] Jasper bgean with his right elbow, throwing elbow pickaxes at the tree. He could hear the thunking, implying that he was hitting it quite hard. Jasper knew that his elbow was going to start to hurt quite a bit after this. Jasper then switched to his left side, throwing Pickaxe Elbows with his left arm. After that was done, Jasper took a short break, eating an energy bar and drinking some water. He then moved on to elbow thrusts, starting with his right side again. [3/5] Jasper hit the tree with all the strength he could muster. Soon, the tree was starting to have a crack in it. That was good. But Jasper's right elbow soon hurt pretty badly, so he switched sides. After a few more reps of his left side, Jasper determined that he was equal with both sides. Now, came the spinning. [4/5] Jasper stood up to the tree. He had to spin around the tree, so that he moved behind it, and had spun 360 degrees. Then, he would perform a powerful strike with the tip of his elbow, like a club, hence the name. Jasper tried it on the first time, but on the spin, tripepd and fell. Now he was dizzy. He stumbled over to his water, and took a sip. He tried it a second time, and nailed it, making needles fall from the tree. He had mastered that skill fine. [5/5] [exit]

Yuri Tariq Wallace Oddest named person you'll ever meet. As Yuri entered the garden he moved to the clearing inside the grove of trees he had found on his last visit, with a nod at the tranquil surroundings he took a breath and began to hum softly as he swayed. With a glance in the book before he placed it on top of his folded shirt he moved to the center of the clearing and prepared for the next technique. With a soft exhalation he shifted his grip to the end of the staff and swung it lightly as he sought for the right feel to it's movements from this position.
Staff Sweep 1/7
As he sought to get a feel for the staff's weight he swung it lightly along the ground careful not to actually strike it. The proper range of motion combined with the right balance would be crucial to executing this move with the speed needed to properly catch an opponent with it. As he swung the staff low along the ground he used the momentum to execute a roundhouse kick so that in a real fight he would be able to catch a jump in strike triggered by the sweep.
2/7
Nodding to himself he smiled enjoying how the staff could so easily play into capoeira with circular strikes and high low combinations. It truly did seem to be one of the better choices he had made in learning. Frowning slightly though he remembered that he had originally been trained to use a staff because it was an excellent foundation weapon and great for defense yet there was always one of his mother's weapons he could never conquer. That would be the next weapon he chose to learn though before that he had a long way to go with his hand to hand forms.
3/7
With a shift Yuri brought the staff up and executed a thrust before sliding the trailing hand back and making a medium sized circle with it that caused the other end of the staff to make a large circle that would arc towards the feet before he spun launching a reverse crescent kick and transitioning into a low sweep with the staff. This would send it skimming over the grass with a soft hiss at ankle height which was a large part of the skill he was currently working on.
4/7
With a nod he stopped the sweep from going past his right side and reversed it aiming at head height before pulling back and leading into a chest thrust and a jump kick. The jump kick was a lead up to a slam strike and finally a spin would bring the staff in position for a downward thrust in order to finish a downed opponent before he landed. To be on the cautious side with his imaginary combo however Yuri would use the impact of the thrust to finish with a vault sending him back nearly ten feet to land lightly on the balls of his feet.
5/7
The staff was quickly becoming one of his favorite weapons now that he was getting the hang of it's combos and the sweep added a whole new range to combos especially when he considered that many of the low stances of capoeira could be led into from a staff sweep. As an experiment he moved low and lashed out with the staff at ankle height once again but instead of simply spinning with the attack planted his hands and moved up into a handstand to follow up with a spinning kick.
6/7
With a shift he was back on his feet and bringing the staff over his body in an arc for a slam but just before hitting the ground he twisted his torso and sent it into a sweep to a point several feet to the right. With a sigh he returned to a neutral stance and focused on remembering what was next in the book. It was a toss up between an uppercut technique and a ki thrust but the uppercut seemed like it would go so well with the sweep he had just learned so it was the obvious choice.
7/7
Attention is on: Gotta love the staff.

Yuri Tariq Wallace Oddest named person you'll ever meet. With a slow breath Yuri decided to move on to working on his upswing, an uppercut was simple in theory but moving the staff to do it at the right distance, speed, and force was more complex than it would seem at first glance. With a slight smile he pivoted and launched a fierce upward swing in the same manner he would an uppercut. After all if his weapon was supposed to be an extension of himself then it was only natural to be able to essentially punch with it.
Staff Uppercut 1/7
Exhaling again he centered himself and felt the flow of life around him, as he did he felt energy flowing through him, it was nothing special beyond his mental image of taking energy in from nature yet the psychosomatic effect on him was always refreshing. Even when it was explained scientifically he felt there was a greater bond to nature than simply enjoying it. With a deep inhalation of the fresh air and the scent of flowers and trees he turned his mind back on the current technique he sought to master.
2/7
Letting his mind be filled with the obsession to gain strength he twisted his entire body into an uppercut starting from the hips and rotating to the shoulders before using a pull with one hand and push with the other to cause the staff to whistle through the air as he flexed slightly from the legs to shift his weight upwards and add just a little more force to the strike. The sound of the staff passing through the air was satisfactory but he still felt it could have been sharper had his body moved more smoothly.
3/7
With a grimace he decided to limber up once more before trying again, he carefully set the staff on the ground wincing at the memories of what it meant to be careless with weapons. A faint smile crossed his face as he considered his family, they would no doubt be surprised by how he changed if he made it back. Part of him even hoped to surpass his mother at last though he suspected that the spirits protected her as they would a shaman, she always seemed to have the damnedest luck.
4/7
With another breath he reached upwards towards the sky using a simple yoga technique to align his spine and stretch out his arms before letting his arms slowly descend downwards to his sides and switching to an upwards motion in front of his body until his arms were raised to the sky once more and suddenly he was arcing downwards until his fingers touched his toes as he stretched legs and back thoroughly before twisting slightly from one side to the other.
5/7
Once done he moved back to a standing position and took up the staff practicing blocks and counters with similar motions and using the twisting movement to launch short ranged attacks before he decided to try another uppercut followed by two more at progressively farther ranges to insure he had the technique down properly. It was a fun concept but he couldn't help but think it would be great if he had enough strength to juggle a person with each strike like they did in video games.
6/7
Rotating suddenly he launched a vicious short range uppercut before using the spin and shifting his grip so that the opposite end suddenly was launching a mid-ranged uppercut before spinning the staff in his hands to shift to a grip on one end and take a full arcing swing through the same space for a full range uppercut that actually had the most force from the momentum of the staff going into the strike. Turning slightly he turned the end of the uppercut motion into a slam against the ground in the opposite direction.
7/7
Attention is on: Bet that would hurt.

Yuri Tariq Wallace Oddest named person you'll ever meet.
Smiling happily Yuri knew there was only one more technique to learn from the book he had borrowed, with a bounce in his step he moved over to his shirt and the book and began reading while sitting cross legged in front of it. Nodding slightly to himself he was surprised it was the thrust similar to the ki slam he had learned earlier. Frowning slightly he decided some meditation was in order before he exerted his energy trying to get the power thrust correct.
Power Thrust 1/7
Closing his eyes he once more focused on the energy that flowed through him beginning with where he was touching the ground and ending where it seemed to float outwards into the air around him. The first step was as always harnassing this energy but with the memory of the tides he was able to easily picture the energy flowing through his body and suffusing his limbs and even the staff set across his knees. Yet he did not want to begin too soon and overexert himself again.
2/7
With a shifting of his mental image the tide simply lapped at his body flowing into him as he absorbed the energy like dry sand as the tide came in. He drank of the energy and let it drink of him filling his essence with power even as he became a conduit for it. With a slow smile he opened his mismatched eyes and almost felt as though power would flash behind the blue left eye and green right eye that had caused him so much trouble when he had first started attending school.
3/7
The rush of power that came from harnessing was similar to that first rushed kiss, the supple body and salty taste of sweat on the skin of... with a shake of his head he refocused himself and put thoughts of women aside, he had managed well so far going over a week without flirting or seeking company yet it was part of his nature and life style to seek companions. Just as it was part of his nature and life style to fight anyone that seemed strong or challenged him.
4/7
Thinking of his nature made him frown slightly as he envisioned the person that he most desired to destroy. The image was easy to form despite the fact he had only seen and taken note of Yun once in the literature class. The brown eyes that in his view were steeped in madness were something that were inherently wrong to him. If there was one thing he desired more than companionship and tests of strength it was balance in nature and Yun was an aberration to the facets of nature he held so highly.
5/7
Exhaling slowly as he formed the mental image of Yun and held it he let his power flow into the staff before focusing it in the center instead of the tip and standing. Facing the phantom from his mind of the one he most desired to kill at the moment he spun sending a sweeping strike low before pivoting and releasing the energy from the staff by mentally pushing it from the center to the end and beyond forcing a burst outwards like a bullet that would fly upwards above the trees.
6/7
He was unsure how powerful the move had been but would not stoop to harming the trees in order to simply test the strength of his move. Especially when there was flesh that would give a much better gauge of how effective the technique would be. With a frown he turned and moved to his shirt and the book before lifting the book and leaning the staff against a tree slipping the shirt on one sleeve at a time. Once done Yuri took the staff as confidence and his own sense of power flowed from him on his way to the library.
7/7
Attention is on: Nearly time to kill.

Yuri Tariq Wallace Oddest named person you'll ever meet.
Moving once more to his favorite training area Yuri sat on the ground and began reading through the capoeira book to decide what to do. There were a lot of good suggestions but the only thing he saw that was practical for him to work on seemed to be the lunging hammer. It would be a helpful technique to learn and seemed as though it would work well with some of his other fighting methods. With a laugh he stood smoothly before following his usual custom of folding his shirt and placing the book on it.
Lunging Hammer 1/5
With a shifting of his weight Yuri moved low to the ground working himself into a spin while he worked at kicking high while keeping his body low. It was obvious that the intent was to strike powerfully with the foot and more specifically the heel for a knock out hit. Shaking his head at how shaky his form was Yuri struck once again aiming high once again. This time his form was more stable but he knew he would have to enhance the speed and power of the kick to make it useful.
2/5
Yuri spun faster once again moving low before bringing his left leg up in an angular kick aimed at roughly the height of an opponent's head though he laughed as he directed the kick so that his heel spin could potentially land as more of a slicing motion than a direct kick. With a shrug that changed the kick into a handstand from which he made his way back to his feet Yuri landed and reconsidered how he was approaching learning the technique.
3/5
Yuri laughed as he focused on his usual mental imaging in preparation for fighting. Once again the image was Yun as he shifted his weight back and decided to use the move as he would in an actual fight. With a quick kick he lashed out at where an opponent's face would be before shifting to bring his staff around in a sweep followed by an uppercut that turned into a thrust. As he finished the thrust though he performed a snap kick before ducking low and spinning.
4/5
As he spun low his leg came up and spun through the air he brought the staff along the ground to follow up with a low sweep before exhaling and standing slowly. With a shake of his head he made his way back to the book and picked it up before donning his shirt once more and heading back to the library. It was useful in many ways to have a variety of skills to fall back on in a fight so the next thing to do was get a book on general skills even if he wasn't that interested in reading it immediately.
5/5
Attention is on: Let's finish this.

  FENRIR
Fenrir made his way to the outer garden, where the trees were thick yet were the smoothest on campus. He read through the Muay Thai training enough to get that he'd need some thick shins for the style and kicking these smooth yet flexible trees seemed like the best way to do it.
He started kicking them hard but his power quickly dropped. This hurt! Just a couple dozen hits and Fenrir could seen the veins in his shins pulsing and bruising.
But he gritted his teeth and kept at it. Maybe it was stupid of him to, but if this is what the training required then it was what he would do. He'd keep it up until his bones snapped if thats what it took.
Fenrir kept kicking. After several hours he realized that he must've kicked it hundreds of times by then. It was funny. After so long the pain in his legs had dulled. One look at their black and blue color though told him it was probably best if he stopped while he could still walk.
Instead Fenrir moved on to another point of training which would be building his jump height. From the sounds of things he would need to be able to reach even the tallest of opponents so being able to reach was crucial, and Fenrir couldn't have agree more. He bent down and started doing crutches.
He kept up the crutch exercise for some time. His legs felt like jell-o and soon threatened to fall apart on him. With all of his leg muscles strained and his shins as battered as they were, Fenrir decided it was best not to kick or even move for a little while. He slumped down against the tree to rest there for a moment and finally give his legs some time to heal.

Angel had read the book and decided to do her training where no one could see her. She had to appaprenetly roll around on the ground and get used to falling and doing that until she could do it easily and with out messing up.
She'd been to the training room already and that floor hadn't exactly been very soft so she had come to the gardens. She found a nice secluded grassy spot in the garden and reread the book.
She started standing up and then fell to the ground and rolling around for a bit. Then she would pop up. Then she would fall down again. It actually took her a while to do it without hurting her self. Or tripping for that matter. She hadn't expected it to actually be hard. But she kept at it. Eventually she realized she was doing it. She did it a few more times to be sure she got it before she stopped and laid on her back on the ground.
Primal Fury stage one learned.
Then she worked out any sores she had and inspected her self for bruises a bit. She'd do a full body check when she got to the dorm. She already had quite a few on her arms and legs form hurting herself and falling on rock and sticks.
